2 Books in 1!! Part 1 When it comes to finding love, Paulette thought cupid was in her corner when he sent a long time crush back into her life. Everything is going well until Darryl’s secret comes front and center. Against her family and friends’ wishes, Paulette continues to see him. For the sake of love, she endures his hurt and betrayal. Will Paulette continue through the tunnel of doom with Darryl or will she eventually come to grips and learn the true meaning of love? Part 2 Paulette is fed up with the hurt, pain and drama that Darryl has inflicted upon her life. She is determined to toss him the deuces and move on. Riding on an old tale that the best way to get over someone is to get under another, Paulette thinks this is the way to go. In her case, she has two prospects, Warren and Grant. She juggles with settling for just one. Will Darryl make it easy for her to leave him? Are Warren and Grant the true knights in shining armor they appear to be?
Anytime I read books by this author I am in for a ride full of drama. Paulette was so naive and it was becoming very fustrating. I kept wondering when is she going to stand up for herself. No matter how Darryl treated her, she would believe his lies. Even when she had 2 great guys Warren and Grant, both who were ready to show her the world and show her what true love is she just could not let go of the hold Darryl had on her. The ending was not what I expected (jaw dropping)
Paulette represents all of the women who don't know their worth even when they're slapped in their face with it. Being with a married man for 3 plus years who lies, steals, and steals and she just would not let him go smh. 2 great men entered her life and she passed them up for a piece of shit.I loved her friends because they always gave it to her straight with no chaser. The end didn't surprise me because for some reason I knew from the beginning that it would involve one of the ladies at the hotel.
I don't where to start with this story. Paulette was just Plain stupid how times does a man have to show you there true color for you to realize that he ain't nothing. I love that her friend and sister try to tell that she deserve better. I swear that ending I did not see coming I can't wait for part 2 to see how all of this play out.
Good storyline & interesting characters. Paulette made me so angry with her actions, I had to take a break from reading. The crap she put up with from Darryl was unbelievable! I've never read of a character so foolish! I just hope enough has happened "this time" to make her come to her senses. Overall, this was a good read that I hope no one has to contend with in real life.
I'm a huge fan of Ms. Pennington but I have to say this book takes the cake when it comes to foolish decisions. Here we have Paulette, who has been in a three year relationship with none other than Daryl. Daryl is a high school crush and love interest that has been locked in Paulette's mind and heart. In her mind, they have the perfect relationship even though he is married and has kids. She has managed to alienate her friends and family as they try to get her to see the error of her ways. As they say love makes you both blind and stupid. Paulette falls for every excuse and excuses his demeaning treatment of her. Now enter Warren and Grant, two potential love interests who show Paulette how a woman should be treated. The nice treatment does nothing to shatter her so called fantasy as she finds herself back in Daryl's arms. When will enough be enough only Paulette knows. I will read the second part even though I'm annoyed with Paulette.
The running around in the story was too much. It went from this to that and Paulette's stupidity, though real life was just ... ugh. Overwhelming. It got really annoying after awhile and seemed to always come to a point where I believed it would end. It didn't, not even at the end of the story. It became repetitive. One of the characters should've been nonexistent. His role was cut not only short, but seemingly disappeared. I expected to hear more about him.
I believe I know where the author was going, enjoyed her writing as a whole, but I'm positive it could've been better. If she rewrote this, I would purchase it.
...should've been the title of this novella. Paulette wasn't just a fool...she was a damn fool and every knows it. In true Carla form, I picked up the book and found it hard to put down. I was cursing at the dumb main character, getting excited at certain shocking things, and just really enjoying myself while reading. The beginning was slightly slow but it picked up in no time. I can't wait to read part 2 because that ending had me gagging. I HIGHLY recommend this read.
In the words of Madea, Paulette made me want to punch her in the throat. She was denial, not in love with Darryl. Then, not one but two good men wanted to give her everything she wanted and needed, but she kept going back to Darryl. It was unbelievable the way she allowed him to treat her, even after finding out about the other women. There were some punctuation and spelling mistakes, but definitely a great story.
This book was an ok read. The main character was so dumb it was actually a turn off. Many times I wanted to just close the book because I was sick of rolling my eyes at her stupidity. I also don't see the need for a part 2 or the point of leaving a cliff hanger if she's only going to continue the same cycle of foolishness in the next book. Hopefully not.
This author never disappoints. I was engaged in this story from the very beginning. There were moments when I became mad at the characters, and there were moments when I found myself laughing out loud. I was in shock when I got to the ending. Looking forward to the next read.
Paulette is the epitome of stupid. How many times does reality have to hit you in the face before you realize this man ain't dilly wot squat!?!?! She knew she deserved better but every time he called there she goes running back to him. The hitting and belittling aren't enough to make her open her eyes. She even went against her family and friends because they were telling her stuff she already knew but didn't want to accept. This child needs Jesus
