I fled my home and my cruel sister, who also happened to be queen.
In my homeland, omegas are not celebrated. They are persecuted.
So I, a bookworm far more comfortable in a dusty library than on any road, set out with two beta guards I had come to trust.

How does one write an eloquent review about an erotic griffin shifter fantasy?

How perfectly convenient!
Violet is a solitary book reader and griffin researcher. Her sister is a cruel queen with an evil husband. No one knows Violet is an omega. She must escape the palace with only two (sexy) guards for protection.
Yes, it’s a little cheesy. There are plot points simply to move the couples around from scene to scene. However, the story in-between these intimate scenes is done well, even though I wished to know these characters on a deeper level.

Wow! Griffins!
Griffin Food is book 15 in the Coveted Prey series. I loved this one. Although this can certainly be read as a standalone book with its own HEA, I recommend starting from the beginning and reading the series in order. There are characters, events and locations that appear or are referenced and I think you will enjoy this so much more knowing all the back history, learning about this world and some of the other characters’ involvement throughout the series.
Griffin Food is full of suspense, adventure and spice. The characters are quite endearing and this corner of this creative and magical world is full of surprises. There is a strong found/formed family element and dominating alphas, betas, shifters and of course griffins!!!
I do not know if there will be any more books to this series but I will be starting the spin-off series Coveted by the Barbarian next. If it is as fun as Coveted Prey I am excited to see what comes next!
As I have been leaving reviews in various places, I found there seems to be some confusion about how the books in this series are numbered and listed and which could affect your reading order. Since I have read the entire series here is my opinion.
Some books are full length novels some are short novellas and each has their own storyline and HEA but all these books take place in the same world and there are references to characters, locations and events that pop up in many of the books, so I do believe if you like a fun binge read and like to read in order, this would be my suggestion and I did not experience any spoilers reading in this order.

Griffins y'all, that's what got me! Like I'm so freaking excited and sad at the same time cause we are only getting one book on them. But, I think L.V. Lane does a wonderful job giving us all the information she can. I only wish we can get more. Unfortunately, this is the end of the series so unless she decides to give us a surprise novella and/or a spin-off, this is all we are getting of them.
If you are familiar with this series, you know what you are getting into. AND... if you have stayed with the series to this point, you know what to expect. The initial interaction between Violet, Rafe and Lark was HOT from the get-go. Both Rafe and Lark were hooked even if Violet was oblivious to that fact. And once the griffins are introduced, its pretty much game over (or more like game on) for Violet whether she knows it or not. LOL.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and am saddened its the end of the series. That's the only reason this review took a little longer as I've been trying to prolong the ending by reading it as slow as I can and yet wanting to get to all the HOT & BOTHER parts throughout the story. I would have hoped the ending was a little different but knowing where some of the sisters were in their lives, it's best that Violet was the one who ended the cruel reign of their eldest sister.
If you are familiar with this series, you know what you are getting into. AND... if you have stayed with the series to this point, you know what to expect. not really my style but great world building
The writing was entertaining enough to take me to the end but it felt not quite formed. There was nothing quite strong enough in the premise to carry the story. It was like we sort of touched on all the authors ideas and moved on. There was a lot of time spent on the relationship between the characters, but all the supporting plot came and went without a lot of fanfare. A bit lukewarm. I would have wanted a bit more supporting character dialogue, friendship, etc. The relationship style (the depiction of dom/sub) wasn’t my favorite. I’ve read other books with this dynamic and despite it not being my cup of tea, they worked a little better. They were very clear with the respect of the FMC by her mates. This book had a lot of talk of care, protection, and ultimately love but I wasn’t actually convinced anyone respected her. Words without actions makes it hard to read the scenes and behaviors with an enjoyable lens.

So good!
I loved this book. I actually made myself pause while reading because otherwise I would’ve read the whole thing in one night.
I highly enjoyed getting a story focused on the remaining sister, Violet, as she gets closer to revealing as an omega. Lark and Rafe become protectors of Violet together, and then they meet the griffins—and I loved everything about where the story went from there. I loved how different all of the griffins are and how naturally Rafe and Lark end up fitting in with them. It really felt like destiny had brought all of them together.
There were also so many little moments that made the story for me, especially the chain reaction of griffin wings popping out. I loved the world-building, the relationships between all the characters, and watching everything come together. Violet is easily one of my favorite MCs, and I just love this world.

Really liked the tenacious FMC but found she could have demanded more answers when first captured and by the end seemed to have given up her scholarly pursuits which I don’t think she would have done in reality if she’d always been a bookworm. Atlas told her she could put her stamp on the place but we are never told if she has any inkling to do so. Missed opportunity I think.
But overall the characters and world building was fun. This is the first book I read in the series and you didn’t need to read the previous ones to get sucked into the story.
Wasn’t sure how I felt about all the submissiveness on the cushion at first and honestly don’t think that helped that much in the sundial room but still interesting.
Also the battle was won way too quickly to be realistic for me.
Would recommend!

Well worth the read!
The plot is amazing, takes you on many adventures through lands with capable 😉 companions for our scholarly leading lady to research the griffins she’s dreamed of. Meeting the three remarkable griffins and their human beings is a wild ride as all are so different and remarkable in their own right. The perfect amount of “extra circulars” and beautifully written at that. But an old energy brings the group together and transforms them all anew. Battling their now collective foe and winning brings a beautifully written story to an end. A lovely standalone with many more works of art written by the author already in my TBR.

She’s joined by a group of capable 😉 companions, and meeting the three unique griffins and their humans is an unforgettable experience. The chemistry is fantastic, and the 'extracurricular' activities are plentiful and beautifully written. An old energy binds the group together, forcing them to evolve and face a collective enemy. The final battle is epic, and the ending is perfect. A standalone I'd highly recommend, and I'm already adding more of this author's work to my TBR.

Good, but the author's teasers made it seem like there would be a lot of buildup to the "food" part ( with the griffins not with the non-griffins MCs) and like the griffins were different.
One griffin character's POV contained multiple flash backs while the others didn't that weren't really needed. The suspension build up till almost to the end and then got resolved in one and a half chapter.

This book was worth the wait!
I have been looking forward to reading this book since it first showed up on my feed. I like the books by L.V. Lane, and I have to say this was one of their best. I do not know if it is a standalone, or if there will be other books involving Griffins, but I really hope there will be. I highly recommend this book!

Read it!
This is genuinely one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. The storyline is amazing, the characters are whole and well rounded, and the spice is there too! I’m an avid reader and love romance novels, this will be joining my top 5 favorite books. Well worth the read!

I don’t wanna talk about how this book took me 20 days to read. It’s because I barely read it the last few weeks because the ending dragged on and because my life is in a very very weird spot right now. Anyways I hope something good comes up lmao. I doubt I’m gonna get my reading goal this year but that’s okay.

Love this series
The Prey Series is in the top 3 of my all-time favorite series. L V Lane does not let you down, bringing humor and character building together. Love all of her books, and I have yet to be disappointed.

Brilliant!!
I think this is my new favourite LV Lane book!! Plenty spice and a good storyline, I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more.

I this is my favorite OV fantasy series of all time. I have read all the books, several multiple times. Unfortunately, this installment was the least engaging and least entertaining book of them all. It was very disappointing. I wish there were one thing I could point at to determine what makes it so lacking compared to the other books… it was everything really. The heroine was definitely under developed. The plot seemed to circle back on itself multiple times, making half the events obviously repetitive. The spice was shockingly lacking compared to how hot the past books were. But most of all the whole story bent the world building of the other 14 books to suit its own ends. All the rules were thrown out to fit in a neat and boring box. It’s like the author rushed through this book out of obligation and had no real joy or creativity in the writing of it. It was just genre trope fill in the blanks.
