This was a pretty good story. I liked Alexi and Ellis and their story was short but enjoyable.
Alexi is a nice woman that's a BBW. She grew up rich and ended up going out with the son of some of her parent's friends. He seemed nice at first but eventually became abusive. She tried going to her parents for help but they basically called her a liar (and ignored her bruises). With no where to turn, Alexi took what cash she could gather and left the day before her wedding.
Ellis is a werebear, second in the pack after his brother who is the Alpha. He and his pack are a bunch of firemen that fight fires in the forests around their home. Ellis tends to be a bit on the reckless side, much to his brother's annoyance.
While Alexi is on the run, she stops to eat at a diner in the middle of no where. The older waitress at the diner (Ellis's mother) offers her a small apartment to rent for cheap as well as a job at the diner. Alexi just wants to be left alone and has no intention of ever trusting another man again. This makes things difficult for Ellis when he comes into the diner the first time and sees her. His advances are rebuffed and he's rather crushed since she's his mate and he doesn't understand why she doesn't feel the pull too. Some men that work for Alexi's ex-fiancee come looking for her and so Ellis' mother sends her to stay with the werebears. This gives Ellis another chance to win Alexi and she has a hard time ignoring the attraction. It does take her a bit to get past the worry that Ellis will turn out like her ex but things do progress between them. There is some trouble that they have to get past but the story does end with Ellis and Alexi starting a HEA together.
I found this story to be pretty enjoyable. Alexi was nice and I felt for her. Ellis was a very good hero...if not very good at wooing women. The story wasn't perfect but I liked it and it kept me engaged. It's right on the edge but I would recommend this story and might read more of the series down the road.

Just couldn't.
I can't seem to get into this book. There is something not right about it. In a few places it seems to be copying a lot of elements from another lumberjack clan book but not nearly as well written as those. Happy reading everyone.

Running From Abuse Finding Love&Help OVER 18 READING
This clan of rough and tough smokejumper werebears have to not only deal with the fires being set in the forest but the ones setting them. The alphas brother Ellis finds his mate working in the restaurant with his mother. Alexi is on the run and hiding out from her ex Greg(lion shifter)because she couldn't marry him with him beating her up. Alexi has no ideal about shifters until the first battle where she watches her mate and ex become a bear and a lion and she runs for the camp and help. His money lets him find her and Ellis mother chases him off once. Then sends her to safety with her sons and their clan at their camp because she knows Ellis and his friends will protect his mate. But a battle will come when Alexi is taken. Will they get her back before she is hurt? What will happen to Ellis and Alexi.

This is a short fun read. I enjoyed meeting these characters. The way they razzed Ellis over his opening line to Alexi was awesomely funny. I have a few underlined passages there. Ellis came off so gruff and wild so it was amazing to see the change in him once Alexi showed up. All the guys on the team are so cute when she shows up at camp.
This is another good fast read from Kim Fox. The bantering between these guys is what is leading me into book 2. Let’s see what happens with Beckett.

Beautiful storytelling with plenty of loving and caring males. When you find yourself being stalked by someone who doesn't know how to take no for an answer. She thought running was the answer, she found out that some people are worth fighting for.

Ellis is so cute, you don't want to miss his first interaction with Alexi. Oh, and the quips the guys come up with, they alone are worth the read.

This was just an okay read for me. SPOILERS: Insta-love on the guys part and the girl swore she didn't want a boyfriend on one page and the very next page she was declaring her love for him. There were a lot of editing errors too. Not moving on to the next book in the series.

JUMP INTO LOVE !!!
Wow! I love it! Smoke Jumpers Werebear, Book One is the amazing new series by Kim Fox and it totally rocks! Yes, I said series but this is a stand alone story with NO cliffhangers. This is my first time reading Kim's work and I am definitely impressed! Anytime an author has me laughing out loud by the middle of the very first page, then it has to be good! This is a wonderful paranormal romance filled to the brim with humor, romance and action, in and out of the sheets. Just a little of my cornball humor, folks, although it is deliciously cute, definitely sexy and delightfully entertaining. The story is exciting, original, well developed, humorous, sweet, heartwarming, romantic, arousing and hot! The dialogue is smart, funny and exceptionally well written. The characters are captivating, engaging, endearing, hilarious and sexy as sin. They draw you in, grab your imagination, capture your heart and hold you prisoner from beginning to end. Although the premise and setting for the book is wonderful, this is, assuredly, a character driven story with a large cast of interesting and charismatic players that are absolutely swoon-worthy. Even the villains are noteworthy. Kim does an exceptional job of brilliantly combining these elements into a wonderful, exciting and heartwarming paranormal romance. Thirty three year old Alexi Winters is a young woman running from an cruel fiance, or should I say ex-fiance since her wedding was to be last week and she was a no show. Her family doesn't believe her allegations about her wealthy fiance, Greg McCoy, and refuses to help her. She's tired of being called fat, ugly and worthless, and even more tired of the physical and mental abuse. She grew up in a very wealthy, high class household where she received everything she wanted, attended all the best parties and socialized with all the right people. She ate at five star restaurants and was treated like a princess. She has traveled around the world and stayed at the finest hotels yet she's never held a job in her life but she's a survivor and she intends to fight for a better future. And now, the thing she wanted most was to hang on to a lousy, minimum wage job as a waitress in a crappy, run-down diner in the middle of nowhere, actually the Flathead National Forest in the wilderness of Montana. Kim Fox's new release, Smokejumpers Werebear is a romantic comedy that will keep you laughing hilariously as Alexi and Ellis' adventure unfolds. The younger brother of the alpha of the Hudson Crew is restless and searching for his mate, his bear is becoming unsettled and at times uncontrollable. Until he meets a feisty waitress trying to get lost in the mountains of Montana, the sizzling chemistry between the two ignites the pages of this highly entertaining read. Kim Fox introduces her werebear shifter’s world; a world combined with other shifters that include a fox, a lion and of course her bears.
Ellis is a dare devil at heart. He loves the adrenaline rush he gets when the clan rushes to stop an ongoing fire. His bear thrives when he lets go of his restraints. His brother, Beckett, is the alpha and protector of the clan. The secondary characters are humorous and build the tight knit community of the pack.
Alexi has never worked a day in her life and she is running from her past fast! She wants a new beginning and she doesn't want anything to do with her old life. When she meets Ellis, she flat-out tells him she's not interested in a relationship. She doesn't want a man in her life, but he slowly rips away that safety barrier and teaches her to trust him and herself again.

Kim Fox packs a lot of character, action, and plot twists into this relatively short book.
The characters are so likable. Alexi is sassy and vulnerable. Ellis is just teddy bear sweet...until Alexi is threatened. Then he goes all "wild kingdom" on the villains. There's a nice mix of warm humor and action here. The tension escalates nicely to a surprise ending with a twist concerning the bad guy that you don't see coming.
Fox's villains are SCARY. So often in these types of romances there's a big build-up about the bad guy and, when he arrives on scene, it's a disappointment. He's beaten too easily. Not this time around. Poor Alexi and Ellis need all the help they can get to escape her ex.
The setting here was also well done. There are some wonderful descriptions of the Montana landscape. It helps draw you into the world of the book.

Smokejumpers 1 is the first story in a series of Bear shifting Smokejumpers. these bear are a small crew so that they can keep their secret.
Ellis Hudson is the brother to Alpha Becket Hudson and he is threatened as such because if his size. He and Matteo were constantly bickering. An,accident causes Ellis to lose one of his eyes. Ellis is so find to the ways of women that the whole crew has to let him know when to apologize to Alexi.
Alexis is a Rich girl running from trouble. She is working at a restaurant owned by the Hudson brother's mother. Alexis is running from her fiance who unknown to her is a shifter. Ellis And the crew jump in to save Alexi from her old boyfriend.
Kim Fox delivers a mind riveting story between Ellis And Alexis. it definitely worth a read. Highly recommended!!!!

Wow what a series this is going to be. I can see it and can not wait to read book two. This book is about Elis and Alexi and what a match they make. She makes his Bear purr and he may not get the girl if he dose not learn to talk to her. then their is the crazy ex. and you will not believe what he is.for a quick read this is one hot and sexy book with a little violence but the guys that get beat up deserve it and have to love they way these big burly smoke jumping bears take care of woman I know a few who could learn from them ( although min man already treats me Like hi queen) all woman should treated this way.

I loved it. I've had the pleasure of reading other books by this author and have also enjoyed them. This book started off with the Hudson crew, they parachute in to put out forest fires. Very serious and dangerous work. They are an all werebear crew. Ellis is the younger brother to the leader, Beckett. Ellis is a loose cannon and a wild card. Lately his bear has been driving him crazy with the urge to mate. In comes, Alexi- a pampered rich big girl on the run from an abusive relationship. There is a courtship, a small chase, then trouble comes looking for Alexi but Ellis refuses to just let her go. I also live the crew they all have unique personalities.

This was a very predictable story, just a little bland. Alexi was just a cardboard heroine, easily swept off her feet a week after leaving an abusive relationship. How a woman who keeps telling a man that she met the day before that their outing is not a date but manages to act the way she did is a mystery. Really, the best part of the book was the rest of the guys in the crew and their hilarious one-liners. I may give the next one a try since I got the set through Kindle Unlimited. Maybe the series just needed to get some traction. Hope so.

Wonderful Bear Shifter Standalone Book!
Kindle Unlimited Read. No cliffhanger though the epilogue is the start to his brother's story :) I could not put this book down! She's trying to escape he abusive ex. His mom hires her and gives her a place to live. When her ex finds her she goes to his crew for protection. Loved loved loved this group of men and can't wait to read more books!

Alexi comes from an abusive relationship. Ellis is one out of control, bad boy, bear shifter. Together they make beautiful music. Even when she gets scared for him and makes a bad decision, he makes it all right again. I loved this story.
This makes a great read for an evening after the kids go down.
