Rate this book
It is 1744. War between England and France has been formally declared when the dashing young American Edward Mainwaring, captain of His Majesty's sailing ship "Pallas", is unexpectedly taken prisoner off the coast of Mauritius.Mainwaring and his crew make a daring escape. Hungry for revenge, they steal a bizarre flotilla of ill-equipped ships and prepare to attack the French fleet headed by Mainwaring's old enemy, the dastardly Roche-Bourbon and his powerful ship "Achille".The French see Roche-Bourbon as the key to their victory in the Indian Ocean and are forced to make concessions to him, one of which is custody of the beautiful Lady Caroline Grenville – whose life becomes a nightmare of violence and mistreatment in his hands. As a tropical monsoon threatens, Mainwaring prepares for his final, deadly confrontation with Roche-Bourbon. On the outcome of this personal battle rests the fate of England in the Indian Ocean, the possession of millions of bullion stored in "Achille", and the life of Lady Grenville."Captain Monsoon" is the fourth and final book in Victor Suthren's series of thrilling seafaring yarns. Exciting Maritime Action

Author Suthern continues the adventures of Mainwering in this rapidly developing story. Southern is well-versed on nautical terms and ship handling. The plot is well thought out, but how many ships can Mainwering lose before they quit giving him another?
