Book Four in The Maple Leaf Series

Detective Daxton Wilder only wants one thing—to see Boston mob boss Richard DiNoble behind bars. After spending time undercover in DiNoble’s organization, Dax is close to reaching his goal. Only DiNoble is a step ahead. When Dax wakes up, he has two bullet holes in him from the mob boss, and his twin brother, Harris, has dumped him at Liberty Hill Nursing Home. Pissed at the bucket of suck his life has become, Dax vows to get out of Liberty Hill as fast as he can.

Until his physical therapist walks in.

Shaylee Keene, Liberty Hill’s top physical therapist, can only charm men eighty and older. That much is clear. Her last boyfriend delivered the painful news that he wasn’t attracted to her anymore. Out of the blue. As if it had just occurred to him one morning that she no longer satisfied him. What if she couldn’t satisfy any man? What if she was destined to be alone forever? What if no one ever wanted her?

Now she has a new patient.

As Shaylee works with Dax and the pair tries to avoid DiNoble’s revenge, they find that nothing mends a broken body—and lonely hearts—like falling in love.

Christine DePetrillo can often be found hugging trees, conversing with dragonflies, and walking barefoot through sun-warmed soil. She finds joy in listening to the wind, bathing in moonlight, and breathing in the fragrances of things that bloom. If she had her way, the sky would be the only roof over her head.

Her love of nature seeps into every story she tells. As does her obsession with bearded mountain men who build, often smell like sawdust, and know how to cherish the women they love. Today she writes tales meant to make you laugh, maybe make you sweat, and definitely make you believe in the power of love.

She lives in Vermont with her husband and cat who defend her fiercely from all evils.

An interesting spin off from the original start of the series. I went into this thinking we would get a story for Adam's sister or maybe one of the cops from the last book. I was surprised by the book taking place in a whole new state and city, even introducing new characters. It was not a bad thing at all and the story still had some visits from past characters.

Detective Wilder is hurt and has to go to rehab at the Liberty Hill Nursing Home. Home to the older variety humans, Wilder is a bit out of place as he is the youngest patient there. But when he meets his physical therapist Shaylee, his stay doesn't seem so bad.

This book has a bit of danger and adventure to it. Wilder is a strong character with a intense personality. Shaylee's character is nurturing and caring. She is sweet and lovable. Her friends are quirky and fun.

I love patient and doctor romances. I find them to be sweet and endearing. This book has that and so much more. I loved that plot and the way the author laid out the story, keeping it interesting with some fun twists. The danger level is about a 5 out of 5. With some very gruesome details involving murder and kidnapping.

Overall this book was a wonderful story with an amazing character line up. It has a bit of every emotion you could think of including fear and love. The book is a steady paced adventure and a page turner. I can not wait to see what is next in this world of Maple Leaf.

Another great.

Okay, so to be honest I was hoping this would be about the cops in the last book, but I still enjoyed it, despite my disappointment. The introduction of two new characters in the series was a bit of a shock, but the story was as well-written as the last 3.
Christine is a consistently great writer, and I plan on continuing my reader relationship with her.

More than Pizza bk 4 [The Maple Leaf Series]
This series is amazing, Some Romantic Suspense, Dark themes and Books 4-6 are set in Boston.. Each book follows a different Couple

This book was amazing and i loved Dex's story and how he found love.. I loved the whole story and it was good to see some of the character's from the other books in the series. There was a lot of twist through out this story which made me not want to put the book down..

Dax is a Detective and he was working undercover which ended with him being hurt really bad.. He has a brother called Harris which looks like the brothers are not close but they are twins.. He can't move his right side only his left side but will get back soon with rest and a physical Therapist, He can't talk yet but with rest and help he will able to talk again, he also got hurt near the ear but has to wear a hearing aid because he might not able to use the right ear again and he has to use a wheelchair for most of the book.. Once he meets Shaylee that's when everything changes for him because he falls hard for his Physical Therapist..

Shaylee is and works in the Liberty Hill Nursing Home.. She has a cute dog called Lexi and some friends that work with her.. She has a sad past because she lost her parents and then grown up with her Nana but lost her two so she has not got any family left.. She loves her work and keeps her self closed off because she got hurt by words that her ex said to her but once she met dex everything changes for her and she could not stop thinking and wanting to be with dex..

This book is packed full of:
⦁ Awesome characters
⦁ Detective/Physical Therapist Romance

The characters through this book was so amazing, funny and very sassy.. There are characters in the book i did not like.. I did feel sorry for Dex because of what he went though after trying to catch the bad guys and the way his brother Harris treated Dex was not nice but also Harris betrayed the people close to him so he could get back to his job that he loved more that anything else.. You will find out what Harris done to make his brother Dex mad and hurt at the same time by reading this book.. If you want to see more of Harris and if his character can become a good person then check out his story in book 5..

Characters that i liked:
⦁ Dex [Detective]
⦁ Shaylee [Physical Therapist]
⦁ Hain [Dex's Boss]
⦁ Rachel [Detective, Work Partner to Dex]
⦁ Josie [Friends and works with Shaylee]
⦁ Charles [Friends and works with Shaylee]
⦁ Kevin [Officer from Vermont, With Diana]
⦁ Diana [Officer from Vermont, With Kevin]

It's nice to see some characters pop in from the other books in this series and i really liked that it talking about the Hinsdale Inn that you would see in book 1.. It was Nice to see Rick and Lily talked about in this book too.. Books 1-3 are set in Vermont while Books 4-6 are set in Boston..

I really enjoyed the relationship between Dex and Shaylee because it was sweet and i really liked that for once dex found something that means more to him than his job which makes him happy because even when he went though a lot because he got hurt he still kept his hope that he would able to use his leg and arm because he had Shaylee by his side.. I am glad that everything worked out and they got a happy ending..

Characters i did not like:
⦁ Harris [Dex's Brother, He did not show that he cared until the end of book]
⦁ DiNoble [Bad Guy, Mafia Boss]
⦁ Josh [Worked for DiNoble]
⦁ Corinn [Cop worked for DiNoble]

My Review: This book took an interesting step away from the previous books in the series. It could almost be the start of a branch off series instead of a continuation of the Maple Leaf series, you didn't really need to read the previous three books as only a couple of the sub-characters made an appearance in this one. With that said I enjoyed the new characters and settings that were presented in this book. I found Shaylee to be a very personable and relatable character as is Dax with his dedication to his job. This was a quick read that was perfect for a summer day on the beach or by the pool.

I love this series. This one was a bit too long and drawn out for me, though. No matter, I'll still get the next book.
