I'm a bit torn on this one. Some positives and negatives:

Positives
-Very easy to read
-Good fun
-Quick start/into the action
-Unique characters
-Interesting world
-Easy to like

Negatives
-One dimensional villain
-Mild deus ex machina
-Extreme Reddit humour (I can deal with some but it was just a bit too much for me)
-Slightly too many pop-culture references (as above)

I definitely liked this book more than I didn't like it. I'm invested enough to read the sequel, which I will. It's better than average for the genre, and I'd recommend it if you are into fantasy/LitRPG harem.

I really enjoyed this book, which is full of laugh out loud moments.

The MC is the "former" Hero that killed the big bad Demon Lord for the final time, ending its immortality. He's inherited the demon lord's castle, and basically spends the next 500yrs sitting on his backside, inventing Earth things for himself, and being a slug. Them some demon reaches high enough level to attempt to declare himself the new Demon Lord, forcing the former Hero to step in and stop that nonsense. Now all the demons have declared the Hero is the new Demon Lord, and are worshipping him. Thus begin lots of hijinks.

The MC has two lovers by the end of the book. The "butler" from the cover, and the newly summoned Hero that is supposed to replace him. I liked them both, but their sex scenes were so over the top with both virginal women having apparently watched thousands of hours of human porn and acting like porn actresses with all the filthy talk they engage in. Rey, the new Hero, is especially a lot of fun for her weebness. There is a third LI blatantly lined up that will fall on the MC's manhood at first opportunity if allowed.

If you are looking for a haremlit story where the author tries way too hard to make every fight seem like it will come down to the last moment, you'll be frustrated. The MC is the most OP of all people/beings on this world, and nothing or nobody comes close.

But if you are looking for a whimsical and funny story, with a MC that wants to train his lovers up and relax, this book should hit the spot.

I have already downloaded the next two books in this series, and plan to start book 2 now.

This is one of the best books I've read this year

I've already read over 120 books this year and normally average about 200+ books a year. I'm not lying when I say this one is in the top 5 of the year and probably top 100 of every book I've ever read. First off the characters are some of the best I've ever seen. Our MC is fantastic, Peach is literally a peach and her sense of duty and love for Coop shows often... Then there's Rey... you can tell every so often when an author falls in love with a character and absolutely loves writing them. Its blatantly obvious the author adores her character. It's well deserved she is probably one of my favorite characters of all time, she's so unapologetically her and I was laughing so hard I was crying multiple times. I don't want to spoil this book at all, so do yourself a favor and just read it. Side note to the author, the POV changes were great, the spice was fantastic and I love that it was marked. Also having Peaches dairy as form of time skip was genius. I've never seen that before and it worked so well. I will eagerly await the next one!

Enjoying it till they made him a simp

The book was decent and I was enjoying it till the Rey crap so I DNF it. The book was fun and interesting, but the Rey character was annoying from the start and she just got worse over time. If you take the worst male weeb and turn him into a “hot girl” you’ve got Rey. Literally EVERYTHING she does is some anime arc in her head. She constantly talks about it and lives in her own fantasy world. To make it unbearable, she’s attracted to the MC and when he finally makes a move, she “wants the pursuing desired arc” where she strings him along and he chases her!! The MC, who is insanely strong, decides sure of course!!! They made him into a pathetic simp instead of just telling her to eff off!

I was done at that point. There is already every pathetic trope, they even acknowledge that they’re tropes, and instead of being funny it is cringe! Definitely my first, and last, book by this author.

Fun, low tension, and filled with humor

I personally found the puns snicker worthy almost every time. (Maybe I was in the mood).

Overall, it's one of the best "retired hero" comedies I've read. To me retired hero stories need ro be low tension because, duh, hr's retired. This does a great job of bringing that while also keeping things fun.

The "emotional landscape" of the story had an obvious but appreciated feminine touch. All while continuing to pander to the harem genre.

Like I said, fun. Worth the read if low tension, OP MC, and harem are in you ball park... and puns.

Incredibly funny and on point

This one's full of the meme-y tropes and references and a boatload of humor. Solid characters and a relatable-ish mc. The usual haremlit stuff, if maybe a bit over the top at times. That said, I hope there's at least 4 or 5 more books planned for this series. Instant buy.

Adorable ladies and a bit silly everywhere else.

Good book. Had fun. The relationship between the MC and the 2nd LI was a lot of fun. The story has a cute setting and our main cast is great.

Some of the jokes didn't land for me and I could do without the pov of the comic relief villain. Still, I read it all and only in a matter of days.

Hilarious good time!

It stands to reason that some book are either hard to get into, read or start slow.
This book is not one of those.
It has Action, comedy, romance a hmmm a heck of a 'good' time. Wink! It has a great pace . Interesting but not too intricate how the story flows.
I give it 5 stars! A read time that is not wasted!

Terrific

Edgar and Gwen called their shot and hit it out of the park. This book has it all, action, laughs, life drama, and the bark lord himself. Can't wait for the next book.

Very good book

This is a fine fantasy harem adventure novel. It is well written and edited. I especially like the high priestess. I anxiously await the author's next novel.

Oh the Puns!

Wonderful! No notes!! I particularly like the running gag about how hard it is to find the town of Cli’Toras
