Read both book 1 & 2 this week and by book 2 i was pretty frustrated with George's taking advantage of the young Harvey. No happy ending in this book so I'll have to read book 3 to see if George mans up and leaves his wife and then gets serious with Harvey. I liked Harvey's character.
This is a short story but its a good read. The plot is a little predictable but I found myself enjoying reading about Harvey, his character I would like to see develop more and with more detail to him. I didn't really care for George he seems to be someone with no depth. Without giving any spoilers George should be somewhat traumatize for what he has been through like how Harvey is. With Harvey's brother I don't think there was enough time that passed for him to turn out the way he did in the end. With all said I did enjoy Harvey and found the book a good read and I am looking forward to the final book.
George can't seem to leave his wife for Harvey, and that makes the relationship difficult. I resented George for not have the courage to tell his wife about Harvey, it seems like he wants to have it all. I thought this book was even better then the first, it was so full of feelings and the characters came more alive for me. I love the writing style, it's easy and to the point, not full of descriptions of the surroundings which I find not necessary to know all the time. Only if it's essential to the story. I just have to read the last book.
Poor Harvey my heart breaks for him. George i just wanted to hit him. How many times can he get Harvey's hopes up just to dash them again!! I'm glad he graduated from school and is starting to get his dreams of being a writer started. This was much more fast paced than the 1st book and i enjoyed it more. I hope Leo dosen't break Harveys heart anymore than it is as well. And why can't he own up to all the wrongs he has done with the alcohol and drugs??
I felt sad for Harvey! Pouring all this love out for George and then George telling him he feels the same. but then keeps making excuses to not tell his wife.! I'm glad that Harvey was the one to tell her! Can't wait to read the next book on there story!
I'm glad I waited until all 3 were available before reading because I'd have been tearing my hair out if I'd had to wait for the next installment! Damn George I was beginning to like you and then grrrrrr! I still have lots of questions about George and I still adore Harvey and want to protect him from the world! Great read!
I can't believe this what the hell, is wrong with George I can't wrap my head around this. He let him go how. I feel so bad for Harvey, I still don't trust Harvey's brother. George get your act together and go and get the man you love!!
Great second book. Continued right where the rest one left off which i love (because of the heart-breaking cliffhanger). Normally, second books in the series are always a bit dull, but this managed to be better than the first and had enough drama to lead into the third book!
Uggg George!!! I just want to shake him. I want to save Harvey. I think I like this story because George seems very believable. I like that George is a cheating jerk, but seems to have a good heart and loves Harvey. I hope he can be redeemed by the last book.
This story is the necessary middle part of the trilogy- it ends with our author (not the actual author, but the MC of the story) struggling to finally come clear to his estranged wife that he has fallen in love with a young man 20 years younger than him. There is a lot of discussion between the two guys and you have to read it to understand the third part of the book, so keep soldiering on.

Sull'onda della prima parte ho iniziato subito questo secondo racconto, ero troppo curiosa di vedere come si evolveva la situazione. Certo George merita capocciate a non finire ma vedremo come si sistemeranno le cose nell'ultima parte
(I'm using my review from the 1st book. I read them so quickly I don't remember what happened in which book)
a glutton for punishment phrase of glutton noun: glutton for punishment 1. a person who is always eager to undertake hard or unpleasant tasks.
Hi, my name is Tony - and I am a glutton for punishment!
**2.5 stars rounded up to 3**
I hated this story! I hated Harvey. I hated George. I hated Paula and I really fucking hated Leo!
The only character I did like was the waitress/owner of the cafe/diner!
The fact this was one of the author's first books is why I am giving it a 3 star rating. I read a more recent story and actually enjoyed it - but this one? OOOOO...MMMMMM....GGGGGG!
I am the type that once I start reading, I have to keep going! And after reading the first book - I had to continue on in the series. But wow - ok first off
Oh and also
Now let us talk about Paula. I have a hard time with cold, ice queen, bitchy wife characters - and that didn't change for Paula.
Oh and there is also the druggie, alcoholic brother who for some reason has a hold over Harvey and is physically and mentally abusive. His name is Leo and he is an ahole - and his character only gets worse throughout the rest of the series.
I read all 3 books in this series very close together (like I mentioned earlier - I am a glutton for punishment) and not really sure now what happened in each book. I just know that this book was full of insta-love, super fast story line (whiplash inducing), a married gay man who is scared to tell his wife, a druggie/alchie brother who is abusive, a sad history for a dramatic MC.
OH! And I am George's age... and first - the dating a 19 y/o thing. Okay - I can get over that. But the fact he calls him "kid" every other second was very... *shudders* I don't know --- gross? creepy?...very Chester Chester - to me!
Okay, it continues right off from book 1. All the sex is off page, by the way.
So, Paula is coming home and Harvey is ready to start his new life with George. First though, George needs to grow a pair and break it off with Paula.
George comes up with excuses... Paula's mom just died... they should wait. Then Harvey(who wants to live in the house with his lover and his lover's wife... awkward). Harvey gives him the ultimatum.
Himself(Harvey) or Paula. George needs to choose. Right. Now.
Harvey also wrote a rough draft (about his current situation) and George's publicist loves it. George hates it.
Harvey also misses his (messed up) brother. He really wants to get his brother back (the one before the fire, before the drinking and drugs).
Then the end comes and I got from Team Harvey/George to a big F. U. George. George is an asshole. I'm hoping off the George/Harvey bandwagon and just sticking it out with Harvey.
So again, the story (kind of) ends with a cliffhanger. Will they(George) work his shit out? I honestly don't care now. I'm over him. Good, let George cry. He screwed himself over.
Inizio a prepararmi allo 'scontro finale'.
The issues that I had with book 1 in this series, The Secret, I didn’t have with this one at all. Where book 1 seemed to be lagging a bit and missing *something* I found that I was actually reading through this book a lot quicker than I was with that one. There is a lot that happens, but at the same time, there isn’t. I know that seems a little confusing, but once you start reading this book you will understand what I mean. I did enjoy getting to know the characters a lot better, and in this book we get to meet Harvey’s brother as well. And let me tell ya, he definitely adds drama to the mix. During this story, there were some parts that did bug me, but I do realize they had to be added in order to make the story the way that it was. But I can say, that this book definitely makes me want to read the next book in the series because I want to find out what happens next to Harvey!

Have just finished book #2 in a little under 3 hours in total , sadly when you've got the kids running around screaming , 3 hours in one sitting is like asking for a miracle lol . Again I was hooked! Great second book !
George must have his head up his own backside to not see what's right in front of him. Poor Harvey can't take any more . His heart is breaking slowly day by day . George needs to be kicked where it hurts to be putting Harvey through all the dreams of being together , only to come in and see THAT !!
Harvey , kick him to the kerb and keep on going . What lies ahead is surly better than staying and hoping .
There is so much angst in such a short story but it works . This kind of story needs that . Ashley has you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. It's got to be said I have enjoyed this book immensely . Right ! Book #3 here I come . George ? Get your arse into gear and sort your crap out !
This book, this book. Oh if I ever meet George, we would be fighting. To put Harvey through all the bs. To get his hopes up. And Harvey, the first time he denied you, I would have left his behind.
There is so much angst in this book to be a short story, it’s not even funny. You are put through a roller coaster of emotions. George didn’t deserve Harvey and I know most people would say that Harvey might have been childish, but when the man you love says he’s going to leave his wife for you, you have the right to know when that is going to happen, but at the same time I don’t think Harvey should have started anything with George to begin with, but I guess it’s true when they say ‘the heart want what the heart wants.’ If I didn’t know how the series ended I would give George a serious talking to.
I've just finished The Truth in a little under 2 hours. It was phenomenal. Now it's 1am and I have to decide if I want to stay up to read the final book, The Fight, or sleep now and read tomorrow. Part of me really is desperate to find out the ending, but part of me wants to delay it because I don't want to say goodbye to George and Harvey. I love Harvey so much and have a love/hate relationship with George, he needs to redeem himself, and fast! This book was an emotional roller coaster, just like The Secret was. Now it's time to buckle up for what could be a bumpy ride in The Fight.
Oh George man up!...I cried for Harvey I mean I literally cried. My heart broke for him. Paula is a witch from hell and she needs to go somewhere. Leo, wish he could change but he wont. George was happy and so was Harvey. I understand where George was coming from about his wife and knowing they were lovers and her mom just passed away. But they all new it was over in that marriage. Well great book 2 now I need to go and read book 3.
2nd time reading this & my heart still broke all over again... This ones a hard read! Poor Harvey :( Grrrr... On George!! I didn't like him reading this one. Lots of tissues for this one!
