Alison Uttley (17 December 1884 – 7 May 1976), née Alice Jane Taylor, was a prolific British writer of over 100 books. She is now best known for her children's series about Little Grey Rabbit, and Sam Pig.
Some of the earliest stories my mum read to me were by Alison Uttley and I adored them. Decades later and I can still vividly remember poring over the lovely colour illustrations and wanting 'just one more page' before I went to sleep :)

Several years ago I had picked this up to add to my collection of childrens books because of the delightful illustration on the cover, but hadn't actually read it until now. It did not disappoint. As I read this, I was struck by the vocabulary, and the language used in this book, and how advanced it is compared to most of the picture books currently being published.
