I'm so glad I stumbled upon this book! And it's not a disappointing "cleaning hacks" book, like a click-baity BuzzFeed video.

I love having a clean house, but I'll be frank: I absolutely HATE cleaning. I can't stand the smell of bleach and other harsh chemicals.

I've always been a bit of a naturalist, but sometimes organic or natural products just don't do the job...or so I thought. Turns out all you need is vinegar, salt, baking soda, and lemon juice. That's literally it.

For example, I have copper measuring spoons that were covered in black hair dye stains that were impossible to get out no matter what I used. Rubbing it with salt and lemon juice worked INSTANTLY.

Also, straight-up vinegar got the hard-water rust stains out of our tub that even my clean-freak bleach-crazy mother-in-law couldn't even get out, which is saying a lot.

These aren't overly-specific, meticulous concoctions that give a miracle result. They're simple tips that have been handed down for generations that can work just as well as (and sometimes better or worse than) name-brand cleaners, are better for the environment, and safer for the family.

I learned a lot from it, and if used as a quick reference for something, it's a terrific book. If, however, like me, you decide to read it straight through while taking notes, it gets very very redundant, both because the book could have been laid out better, for what you can mix together, and what not to use for what, instead of just giving the same issue three different remedies, plus it legit had the exact same information throughout the book in many places. Also, there were a few editing issues. Still, I only give it four stars because I did enjoy reading it, but it could have been a lot better executed (like this review).

3.5 Stars. Everything you ever wanted to know about cleaning with vinegar, baking soda and a lemon. Some really good tips from your pets to do-it-yourself beauty. How about instead of using bleach...use ⅓ cup lemon juice instead to brighten a load of whites? I'll be trying it since I have a lemon tree.
