'And then we'll walk right up to the sun...hand in hand...'
Mayor Antwone Young is 'that dude' in Atlanta, Georgia...he's handsome, he's intelligent, he's a bachelor, and he's bent, bound and determined that the White House will be his residence before he leaves the land of the living. Antwone has had a hard life, with absent parents, but he and his baby sis were raised by their faithful grandmother. Antwone thrives off of the mentality, it's not how you start but how you finish...and his eyes are set, his mind is made up...so look out world!!
Ella Sullivan is in law school pursuing her dream, while funding it as an exotic dancer as night. She keeps the two very separate...with her job being just that...a means to an end. Ella found safety with her auntee and her uncle and has also had a very dark childhood.
So what happens when two headstrong, focused individuals meet and sparks fly? Is it possible when it would seem that their union would go against the grain...especially with Antwone's goals? If We Ruled the World had so many possibilities of being an iconic read, but the realism of the plot was too far-fetched. The theme was almost fairytale-ish as I've never heard of anyone rising to Presidency from a Mayoral position. I enjoy Nako reads, but this one had too-too many sublplots with no resounding definition or true purpose. There were so many scenes that did work, but so many more that actually left the reader having to go back through a mental rolodex to try to remember and connect and decipher if the scene/plot was even resolved. I encourage Nako to invest in a editor that will especially focus on content as well as spelling and grammar. Will I read her other reads....more than likely. Nako's natural potential is tangible, but she has too many completed projects to be at this point. I hope to see the author concentrate on perfecting her craft. 3.58
