Ethan Tackett is a nightmare. Big as life and in your face, he makes no apologies for who he is…an orphan who grew up fighting for survival. He ends up in Nashville, the lead singer of DirtSlap—a band of misfits much like himself. He owns the stage, unleashing his demons and pain into every lyric. But when alone, the horrors of his past haunt him. Peace eludes him, until a chance taste of perfect lips.
Shelby Renner’s life is a farce. None of it real and none of it her choosing. She escapes Houston’s high society to take care of her deceased grandmother’s home in Nashville and discovers a whole other world…including Ethan. His bold tattoos and lip ring fascinate her. His dimples lure her in. Nothing feels more honest and alive than his black gaze on hers.
But the past closes in, threatening their fragile bond. Can two damaged souls dig through the wreckage to find a life together?
Were it not for Hope...the Heart would Break . Ashlynn Pearce is an award winning author who writes fiery, passionate romances. Her characters are perfectly imperfect. She's a true believer that damaged people need love too.
Born and bred in Oklahoma, she lives with her husband, son and four pups. Despite four strokes, she continues to fight to keep her publishing dream alive.
After several visits to Nashville, she created the DirtSlap series. DirtSlap is a band - a little bit country, a dash of metal & a whole lot of dirt. Included in the series are FUEL, WRECK, KRUSH and FIXT…with more coming.
If you're searching for a bit hotter...leather clad...erotic...tattoos, look no further than the new series, Rolling Asylum Motorcycle Club——ON EDGE

this book...these characters...this series.... I am so in love. I will be truthful and say I recieved an ARC for an honest opinion.
you want my honest opinion? I may stalk the author until she writes more. Her style is amazing. I love her characters. Not just because they are sexy but because they are honest, and beautiful.
The guy, Ethan, is broken and he meets a girl who will fix him. That's the basic idea of this story but it doesn't even scratch the surface.
I laughed, I cried, I saw red. This book will play with your emotions and you'll be crawling on your knees for more.
WRECK is better than FUEL, the first book in the Dirtslap series, and that isn't meant to discount FUEL at all. I loved FUEL. It was a great start to a superb series. It's just that I love WRECK more. Here are my reasons: 1. I hate letting my favorite characters go at the end of a book, and I love, love, love when an author keeps us involved in their lives in subsequent books in series like this. I fell in love with the various players in FUEL, and I was thrilled to get to know many of them even better in WRECK. 2. I loved Ethan. He is my new book boyfriend. So damn sincere, despite his scars. I loved the way he treated women - all women, but especially Shelby, who really, really needed a guy like Ethan to help her believe in herself. Crazy how they came from opposite sides of the tracks, yet both were pretty damn scarred. Just goes to show, even blue bloods can have issues. 3. Shelby was cool, too. She wasn't afraid to work, she wasn't afraid to be herself, and she wasn't afraid to give people a try, i.e. our favorite group of misfits from Boosy's. 4. I had so much fun guessing who would get their happily ever after in subsequent books, and with whom, based on interactions in this book. I can't wait to see if I'm right! Looking forward to the next installment of the Dirtslap series. Very much so!
I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an review. Ashlynn, Ashlynn, Ashlynn, you had me in tears. I was absorbed in every word and finished this is one sitting. I loved Ethan. He was everything and more and though he was so much different for Shelby, he was absolutely perfect for her. I was left with wanting more and I am a true fan of Ms. Ashlynn. Five stars!!!!!
After reading Fuel, I was eagerly awaiting the next installment of the DirtSlap Series. I was the opposite of disappointed. It’s very hard not to fall in love with Ethan. He’s dark, he’s sexy, he’s loyal, and he’s a rock star. The author did an excellent job of creating a dark hero, who’s impossible not to love. The reoccurring characters round out the cast that began with Fuel. We get a little more of Zack, another intriguing character I can’t wait to get to know, as well as Lila, and Ryan. The only thing I didn’t like about this book is that it ended. I can’t wait for the next installment. I hope that the books to come will contain more from Ethan. He gives me butterflies.
I received an arc of this book for an honest opinion.
Oh Ethan, you sexy beast. He's an enigma wrapped in a contradiction. He looks badass, he is badass and yet, he is so so very sweet. Shelby is a naive sweetheart, raised by money but never really fitting in but in Tennessee she finds herself. I adored the romance between these two, except for about two pages that I in honesty didn't read since they were dealing with mice and traps (ick!!) Another great story by author Ashlynn Pearce.
Shelby has come to Nashville to take care of her recently deceased grandmother's affairs. Her life in Houston was nothing she wanted. Her mother and step-father forced her into every decision, even picked her fiance. Deciding she's going to stay in Nashville in the home that's now hers, Shelby takes a job as a waitress at Boosey's. When a group of guys get too handsy, Ethan, the lead singer of the band, swoops in to save her by placing a kiss so demanding on her that it very clearly says hands off. They become good friends and he helps to repair her new home.
Ethan had a tough childhood. His mother died of an overdose and he was raised in the Georgia foster care system. Tall, dark and tattooed, Ethan knows his appearance can intimidate. But Shelby accepts him as he is. Her voice has a way of calming the voices he always hears in his head. Ethan and Shelby quickly develop feelings for each other, but he's scared that a man like him isn't good enough for a girl like her. Then the a$$hole fiance that Shelby dumped shows up and he's not a nice guy.
I loved Thrand in Fuel, but wow I really loved Ethan in this one. I've always like the bad boys, but Ethan has only good for Shelby. They are so sweet together with her innocence and his hard edges. The band is getting more popular and we get to see all the same characters from Fuel. It's really a fun group of characters who look out for each other and make you laugh.
Wreck is told from both Ethan's and Shelby's POVs. The ending is one of those that'll be at the top of your swoon worthy endings. I can't wait for more in this series.
I love this book!! I really loved the first book in this series and have been eagerly awaiting Wreck ever since. I love Ethan and Shelby. Ethan is dangerous and a bit broken. Shelby is broken in a different way. Their story is engaging, emotional, sexy and leaves you wanting more. The author does a fantastic job of drawing the reader into their story and it does not disappoint! I am looking so forward to the next book in the series. I can't wait to get to know all the guys from DirtSlap.
The story between Shelby and Ethan is a wonderful journey. Both of them are trying to escape their past and move forward. It's great to see them grow together as the story progresses. In addition, I love the secondary characters and can't wait to know them better. I can't wait for the next book.
I am a HUGE Ashlynn Pearce fan. Wreck is by far my favorite book that she's written. Ethan is flawed and beautiful all at the same time. Shelby is beautiful and broken in ways that you can't see on the surface. In each other they find healing, friendship and comfort.
Flipping loved this book. If you liked Fuel the first book in the series then you are going to LOVE this one. There's just so much that I love about it. Such a good book!!!
Angst, drama, healing on both parts Hero and h. Interesting side characters. I want the next book. No cheating. Triggers for rape and violence. It's a good read. I was up all night finishing. HEA
