I write steamy paranormal romance, particularly vampire and shifter/werewolf right now. Check out my two free series starters, Life Blood and Taken. :)

I most often compare my work to Twilight meets 50 Shades (my vampires in Cora's Choice are more dark and angsty, and the S/M elements grow more and more pronounced as the series progresses), but the names that readers most often mention are Anne Rice and Sherrilyn Kenyon.

In Cora's Choice, Cora's Bond, and the following series, I wanted to show a heroine's journey from ordinary girl to someone super tough. This is a journey of months--years, even. So many stories start with an Anita Blake-type, able to kick ass and take names from the first we meet her. I thought it would be awesome and really interesting to show someone becoming that person through tiny changes that build on each other.

My world puts a different twist on everything from vampires (they're alive) to elves (aliens) and demons (interdimensional djinn). The Alpha's Captive series features a kickass heroine out of the gate, while Cora's Choice series--followed my Cora's Bond and others--has my "big" character story line.

Yes, there's an HEA. :) But the story keeps going on!

Cora Shaw’s last tie to her old life is shattered when events turn deadly and the different pieces of the puzzle come into lethal focus but it might be far too late for them all in this thrilling conclusion to Cora’s Bond.

Cora’s best friend has been captured and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the emotional turbulence and excitement as Dorian’s enemies make a costly mistake that will finally give them some answers but those answers don’t come without a price. These strong captivating characters once again demand your attention while they try to change the world and reach for their happily ever after at the same time with some scorching hot sex scenes and enough emotional turmoil that the reader can’t help but connect to the characters. The fast paced, smooth flowing plot keeps adrenaline pumping with edge of your seat action, suspense and romance.

With Lisette missing and more pieces of the puzzle falling into place, things quickly escalate placing Cora right smack in the middle of a deadly confrontation that will have Cora making some life changing decisions. The vivid details bring the story to life while the thrilling and emotional events ensure that the reader can’t put the book down.

Warning: Mind blowing conclusion full of action, passion and life altering events will have you glued to the pages until the very end or at least it was that way for me.

V.M. Black has a gift for story telling and she certainly knows how to weave a good romance and erotic tale in the mix. Not only that but she turned what could have been just another serial among many in the pile into an unforgettable sexy tale of abiding, never-ending friendship, and above all, love.

The last time we see Cora she was left in a sea of confusion as her big day was approaching and Lisette, her best friend and maid of honor was kidnapped. To her, Lisette is the link that keeps her attached to her old life and loosing her may mean loosing her own self to Dorian’s dark world, even him and her own identity.

“Do you want to feed your pride, or do you want to save your friend?” ~Dorian

I admit that I've always dislike that side of Cora. It was as though she was never capable of enjoying Dorian’s love for the sake of love. She always blamed her emotions and feelings for him on the bond. Even though he proved over and over again that he would never make her do anything against her own will – ok, there was this one time in which he would have but it was to save her life and only in the event of his death – she still was sort of resentful of her position and perhaps even him. It was like she was saying “I hate you because you made me love you but please don’t leave me!” Which in truth, all cognates with a sense of reality were probably saying, however Dorian was different, and the fact that Cora couldn't see how different in spite of it all was driving me up the wall, making me upset even! And add to that the fact that she wasn't even trying. She kept saying she only felt as an extension of Dorian but whatever was she doing to define her own person as a cognate?

“I love you, Cora Shaw,” Dorian said… “Until the end of time. The moon could fall and the stars burn out, and it would change nothing. Is that not enough for you to find peace within yourself, with what you are? You are so loved.”

And then, Ms. Cora Shaw proved herself. Not only did she save herself but also proved that she could be more than just a pretty adornment on Dorian’s arm; she found her place in her world, her very own place and world. She finally realized she wasn't a damsel in need of saving, or a prop for Dorian to lean on. And she embraced that position with the stance of a freaking Queen. Royal and Proud. And quite frankly I am really sad this is over because the story took a turn for the best and it left quite a few good open sub-stories that I’d love to know more of, what with Geoff and Lisette, the Nexus theory, Mrs. Cora Shaw Thorn making huge life changes, not to mention swoon-worthy Dorian becoming the book boyfriend I could actually fall in love in real life… *le sigh* =D

“I had trusted him—trusted him with all of me, trusted him to ignore my pleas, and he’d taken me to a place I’d never have chosen to go but, having visited, I didn’t for one instant regret. I’d trusted him, and he’d proven more than worthy of the trust.”~ Cora

Cora’s conundrum may seem to have been resolved too swiftly but the story in itself deserves the praise, if anything because it keeps you engaged from beginning to end and made want more of it.

World Enough and Time is a Great finish to an Awesome Series!! It takes a truly accomplished author to keep you turning the pages and Ms. Black has certainly done that with this series!! I was hooked from the beginning and now at the end, I'm a little sad. I want there to be more, but I'm happy with the ending even if there isn't another series after this one!

Cora should be happy, a week left of school before break and her wedding to Dorian. With Lisette still missing Cora is anything but happy. Cora has enlisted Dorian's help to find her but even he hasn't had much luck. They did get a photo of the guy that Cora saw Lisette talking with at the bar but that's all they have. Dorian is trying to be there for Cora but he is also trying to do what Cora asks and look for Lisette. Dorian want's Cora at the Manson so she is safe just in case she is taken next.

Cora realizes that she doesn't have the garter that Lisette got her for the wedding. Cora has the car brought around only to find that Clarissa, Dorian's daughter, is already in the car waiting for her. Clarissa is there for protection and Cora knows that as they head to the apartment on campus. Once on campus, they get out but Cora sees the guy that was talking with Lisette at the bar, she starts running after him only to be captured and taken by a couple of guys in a white van. Just as she is realizing that she has her phone with her, it rings and it's Dorian. He tells her to keep it on her as long as possible but if she can't he will still be able to find her without it because of their bond.

Cora has had to make some difficult choices in her life and now she has to make another. Hopefully it won’t cost her, her best friend Lisette. Will Lisette forgive Cora? Can Dorian get to Cora in time?

You have to read the book!! I know you will love it!! I know I did!!

Awesome ending to a really fun series. This one picks up with a friend who had gone missing and Cora's attempt to find them. She would stop at nothing to find the friend she loves. It leads her into her own trouble and finding out who all was behind everything that has lead up to this point. Full of excitement and plenty of surprises I was glued to this. Very emotional this read was. While the ending was very good I couldnt help but feel a sadness for Cora over some other circumstances. Over all though I really thoroughly enjoyed following Cora's journey of her growing into her role and the person she became.

Glad it's over

Cora's Bond series was definitely better than Cora's Choice. I pretty much wanted to scream at most of Choice. I know I would NOT buy these little Novellas today or ever had I not been sick and medicated. I did read them because I already bought them several years ago. Most books were closer to 100 pages. (Some less than 100) Not sure how up to 200 pages could be advertised. None are close to 200. There is also too much repetition. As tiny as these Novellas are, there should be no need for recaps or explanation of ANY of the storyline in any book. Also, the sex took up how many pages? It padded the length of the short stories. Great concept if you can't produce an actual Novel. Stand alone or Series. I am just glad it's over.
Unless you want to pay $3 bucks every hour which is not only insulting to add up how much you pay for such small content, but the constant disruptions are also insulting to the reader.

MOON AND STARS FOR CORA: THE METAMORPHOSIS IS COMPLETE AND A QUEEN IS BORN !!!
Be still my heart! Absolutey Brilliant! I loved it! Ms. Black has dazzled her readers yet again with World Enough and Time, the sixth book and exquisite conclusion to her amazing Cora's Bond Series. She has once again teased, tantalized, and entertained us with her incredible talent, exceptional skill and boundless imagination. Black is a woman on fire in this powerful, compelling and deliciously dark paranormal tale of love, murder, suspense, and intrigue! Oh my! I did not think it possible, but this series just became even more intense and exciting! This book delves even deeper into danger, death, suspense, dark plot twists, and the perilous world of vampires! Oh my goodness! I was completely enthralled from beginning to end! I simply cannot get enough of this series! The story is dark, powerful, imaginative, exciting, action packed, riveting, thrilling, compelling, gripping, suspenseful, mysterious, romantic, sensual, steamy and let's not forget scorching HOT! The dialog is intelligent, eloquent, beautiful and very well written. Simply exquisite! The characters are sexy, captivating, engaging, well developed and intriguing. They come to life and jump off the page right into your heart and imagination. Handsome, wealthy vampire agnate, Dorian, in love with Cora is trying to bring his people, the Adelphoi into the future. Beautiful, intelligent, college student Cora, now bonded with Dorian as his cognate is desperately seeking her place in Dorian's heart and his world. As her wedding day looms ever closer, Cora finds herself making decisions about much more important matters than her wedding cake and music as she realizes that the fate of the entire human race may very well rest on her small shoulders. She suddenly finds herself sinking even deeper into Dorian's dark world as the danger continues to increase for her and the people she loves. Secrets are revealed and traitors exposed. The Adelphoi are dealt a serious setback which leads to a strike led by Dorian against the Kyrioi. Anger, jealously and retribution burn fiercely between the two factions. And a simple night of fun at Cora's bachelorette party ends in a heartbreaking turn of events! Oh my! What will the Kyrioi attempt next and who is their next target? Will Lisette be rescued or is it too late?? And just what has Geoff gotten himself into now? Will Cora survive to celebrate her marriage to Dorian? Will the requiem of Cora Shaw become the birth of a new and improved Cora Thorne? No spoilers here but all these burning questions will finally be answered in this exciting conclusion but I will say this - For the first time since I began reading this story which has been told from Cora's perspective, I finally began to understand the real Cora Shaw, her doubts, her fears, her feelings, her hopes, her desires and her dreams for definition to her life and a future with the man she chooses to love. It was quite a fascinating and riveting revelation as Cora's metamorphosis becomes complete. Sexy vampires-check! A fascinating menagerie of human and supernatural characters-check! Danger, abduction, murder, suspense and intrigue-check! Exquisite romance, undying love, a fealty for all time and beautiful sex-you betcha! I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. This is hands down, one of the best serials I've ever read! Absolute perfection! Kudos Ms. Black! You've outdone yourself - again! I can hardly wait for the release of Dorian's story: Blood Lust, Vampire's Choice coming in May! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

V.M. Black is THE Queen of Awesomeness!!! This book deserves a HUGE standing ovation! 5 INCREDIBLE stars!!! I have read every single one of Ms. Black's books and this Cora/Dorian series is my absolute favorite. "World Enough and Time" is by far her best work, and that is saying a lot because each and every one of her books is amazing! And they keep getting better and better! And i'm a very picky reader! ;)

"I love you, Cora Shaw," Dorian said. "Until the end of time. The moon could fall and the stars burn out, and it would change nothing. You are so loved."

How can you NOT melt after reading that? Such a WONDERFUL ending to such a beloved series! We have been following Cora and Dorian through all of their ups AND downs. We finally get to experience Cora's final transformation - her journey is complete. And with her beloved Dorian at her side, as he always has been. The author wraps everything up perfectly. Flawlessly. As she always does. As you read through all the FIVE STAR reviews, you will notice that this book, this series, and V.M. Black herself has touched so many of us! I am honored to count myself as one of her most loyal (and a bit obsessed) fans. Her writing style, her vivid details that suck you in, her characters that make you grow and develop WITH them, and her fantastic story to tie it all in and deliver her best book yet! Very unpredictable, exciting, hot, emotional, shocking, suspenseful, and absolutely perfect! I end this review with a heartfelt plea to GO GET THIS BOOK AND START READING!!!

An end but truly a beginning.
In this book, Cora is challenged with all that she is made of and has grown to be with Dorian. The kidnapping of Lisette, her best friend and maid of honor leaves her with doubting everything and herself. What is she to do with no one believing her that it surely does have something to do with her or Dorian. She comes to find out that in a roundabout way it does.
With her wedding approaching, it's not the typical cold feet she gets but the regrets that the change in her life has affected her friends. She pulls away from Dorian but as usual the love he has for her, he cannot disappoint her in what she wants. Plus he'll never let her go.
There is a surprise from Geoff that I did not expect. The poor guy first loses Cora to Dorian and then this life changing event in order to save Lisette.
This final book of Cora's Bond pretty much wraps things up. Pieces of the puzzle come together nicely that don't leave the reader wondering with 'well what about this'. Where some books end at the wedding, we get to read a little more into Dorian and Cora on their way to their honeymoon. This is where Cora actually realizes the truth of how much she trusts Dorian.
Though Cora's Bond has ended, I do hope their story will continue at some point. I am so thrilled to see that we'll actually get to read Dorian's story now.
Great work Vicki. Thank you so much for such a spellbinding series.

I received an ARC by the author for an honest review.

I love Victoria Blacks writing, she is AMAZING!!! From the very 1st book of hers I read, which was Cora's Bond, to her other series , my respect for her as a writer has grown!!!! Why one of the big publishing houses haven't come after her begging her to sign with them is beyond me! World Enough and Time does not disappoint!

When Cora finds out that her best friend didn't make it home after her bachelorette party, she is scared and she knows something is wrong and that the guy who had been leaving the threatening notes for her has something to do with it. She tells Dorian and begs him to get his guys onto it and find her. He doesn't know why he should because he doesn't think it has anything to do with them, him, or his enemies. But she means a lot to Cora and so Dorian will do what he can to find her friend.
He leaves to go do what he does, he tells her he needs a couple of djinns, that they can smell scents no one else can. She doesn't see Dorian till the next day and they haven't been able to find her scent. But they did find signs that whoever took her knew what they were doing to make it hard for them to trace where they took her.
I don't want to give too much away because there are plenty of surprises. Don't miss out on this one, it was a GREAT read!! And I can't wait to get started on Dorian's books!!!!

This is the finale to the roller coaster ride that is Cora and Dorian and it is PERFECTION! If you have not read the first four parts of Cora's bond..stop here now as this will be a spoiler if you have not.

This book begins with Cora dealing with her best friend and maid of honor Lisette being kidnapped. The who and why are unknown, and her faith in Dorian is shaken a bit in the process as she is still finding her place in the world of agnates and cognates. She is still struggling with the fact that most view her as nothing more than as eye candy and annoying eye candy at that.

The writing is flawless and just when you think Ok is she really gonna end it with this one, it does end and your left thinking crap it is over and then she gets us..Dorian will have his story told. Yeah i know your thinking rehash. Well I read the first part she gave us a peak at and it is NOT a rehash, but feels totally different and as compelling as Dorian himself. If you read the series you would get the compelling and how for Dorian it is something that his little use of makes him so awesome!!! Get this series and all the series by this author! She has never written a book that feels or reads like anyone else. She doesn't do the main stream themes to sell, but to write an escape that keeps me coming back for more.

In this final installment of Cora and Dorian's tale, I truly felt I came to understand Cora a little better. In the past books, I thought her to be a little childish even when I understood and agreed with most of her inner dialogue. In this story however, I think Cora grew in leaps and bounds and better understood herself and what she felt for Dorian. This storyline was well thought out, well written and had several twist and turns I did not anticipate. There is a mystery to solve, abductions, lots of emotions flying and an unexpected alliance. Again you are kept on the edge of your seat and are working just as hard as the characters to figure out what is going on and wondering if this wedding of the century will really take place. This story is seen from Cora's point of view and does not always put Dorian in a good light making me really wonder what his thoughts would reveal. This was a remarkable story right from the beginning and I will be sorry to see it end. I heard there is going to be a spin off telling Dorian's perspective and I am eagerly looking forward to seeing what he has to say. What an awesome ending to a great series.

Her wedding day is fast approaching, her best friend is kidnapped and she feels like her world is falling apart around her. She has begged Dorian to do everything in his power to find her friend Lisette but Cora feels helpless.
What an amazing conclusion to the series Cora's Bond. One of my favourite lines " I had been made for this, for him, both our lives hurtling toward this brief fragment of eternity, his across centuries and mine across my scant handful of years." VM Black tells an amazing tale. Her stories are full of intrigue, suspense, romance and life. It's amazing to be able to feel the emotions that she conveys. I have cried more tears reading her books that I can remember then with any other. You can feel the emotions of the characters. I love that bits of other stories make appearances in each book so if you've read her other series you'll recognize that. I loved the HEA ending they got. Sad for it ending but excited for Dorian's Story.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

With her friend kidnapped, Cora goes into a mild meltdown as she realises how her college life is linked a lot to her best friend. With all this happening and a wedding in a week's time, will they find Lisette in time to take her place on Cora's wedding day? Will she find her place in Dorian's world? The story flows well and without giving too much away it does wrap up a lot of the questions posed throughout, even if it seemed a bit too easy and it was just a pebble in the bigger lake.

A good finale to wrap up Cora's story, and i was surprised to find myself disliking a few of Cora's choices in regards to Lisette and this ended up with me disliking her totally. I've like her throughout the series, been annoyed with her a few times, so at the last minute disliking her was not expected.

I recommend this if you want a change with your Alpha males and your vampires.

I've also added this review to amazon with minor changes.

This book is the final one in this series and what a finale!
All the questions are answered in a story that had me reading so fast to find out what was going to happen that I frequently had to re-read bits to make sure I hadn't missed anything ! The search for Lisette is on, is she dead or alive ? where has Cosimo been hiding ? Will the Kyrioi gain the upper and with the stolen research? What role does Geoff really play in all of this ? And will Cora and Dorians wedding go ahead as planned or will something happen to put a halt to it !!!!!! You can never be sure with V M Black's books, You'll have to read it to find out.

This series has been an incredible ride watching the changes Cora has gone through and seeing her come into her own in this last book, I'm sad to see it end .......but wait !
The next series is being told from Dorian's point of view, you can bet I'll be watching eagerly for that release date !

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I was gifted this book by the author for an honest review and have to say that V. M. Black has done it once again with her Cora and Dorian series. Cora's best friend Lisette is kidnapped and.all points to the bad guys. But she can't convince anyone to believe her . Finally Dorian does what a.man In love must and calls in re-enforcements. I feel sorry for Cora as she is kidnapped and finds that her friend Lisette is mated to the worse person ever. He tries to have Lisette Kill Cora but Lisette can't quite do that to a friend like Cora, because she has a plan. As her wedding day looms ever closer, Cora finds herself making decisions about much more important matters than her wedding cake and music as she realizes that the fate of the entire human race may very well rest on her small shoulders. Love the fact that Dorian and Cora are more or less made for each other.

best of the series

I have been waiting on this book since Jan. It was worth the wait. The book was full of twist and turns. I loved the way every storyline was nicely wrapped up. There are no loose ends or wonder whys or whats with this book.

My favorite aspect of this book is Cora's transformation. She has grown from a girl to a woman in every aspect of the word. You can't help but fall in love with her and cheer that she got her happy ending even though it wasn't perfect. My favorite line of the book is her realization that Dorian's world was her real world and her college life wasn't a fake.

Dorian was amazing as always. Ever the patient living man.

It is a great read that draws you in and keeps you captivated until the final words of the book. I am sad that it is ending but waiting with excitement for Bloodlust.

I love love love this book. I think this may be the best book in the series even though it is the last. Cora is finally growing up and accepting Dorian's world. Dorian is finally showing Cora more of his emotions such as they are for his kind. The is quite a bit of conflict in this book. Lisette is kidnapped and you keep wondering if she's going to be found alive? You wonder if she is going to be found before Cora's and Dorian's wedding and if not will the wedding go on? If she is found alive will she be okay? The story is well written and was hard to put down. I stayed up to finish reading this book. The characters are well written and you feel like you are right there with them. Everything seems to come together and click into place, like you found the missing pieces of a puzzle. This a must buy and a must read.

First let me say that I received this as an ARC for an honest review. I may or may not post spoilers so read on if you dare.

This book is the final installment of the Cora's Bond set. It will blow your socks off. It was a truly twisted puzzle that you do not see coming till near the end of the story.

The plot, the wording of this book is such that it kept me pinned to it until I finished reading it. It completely amazed me. A very well written story!!! I can not wait to see what is next in Ms. Blacks future books!

I am sorry to see these guys leave, and I would love to see a future books on them if they have children or find the 10 out of a 100 cure they where looking for!

Now I do have to say that Dorian came more alive as a person in this book and less like a robot. Which was super too see!

I was given this book for an honest review.

This is the last book in the series and what a way to end it. I believe this is the best book of the series.

In the last book, we ended with Lisette being kidnapped. During this book, the search is on to find Lisette, before it is too late. Will she be alive or has something else happened to her? Cora ends up in trouble herself, while Dorian is searching for Lisette. Will Cora make it back in time for the wedding or will she even survivor her encounter with the bad guys? During her encounter, Cora does finally understand Dorian's world and what it will mean to be apart of his world if she make sit out alive.

This book wraps up a lot of questions from previous books in the series. If you like Vampire's and shifters, this is the series for you.

So finally we get the last book in this intense, incredible series. Cora and Dorian have their wedding, Lisette is found alive and as well as can be expected and Geoff is no longer the boy he was. I was saddened by the few things in this last book but I still enjoyed it. I didn't like that Cora decided to not go back to school, even to just finish up and take a few tests. No grad school either. I don't like that Cora had no remorse when it came to Geoff, even though his association with her, caused his problems in the first place. I love that her and Dorian will be together and continue with their cause and I just loved their characters, across the board.. This was a great series and I am sorry to see it end.

An amazing ending to super story. I can't say enough about this series. It has everything you can ask for, vampires, fae, love, sex, drama, fighting, kidnapping, and a powerful ending. The hunt is on to find Lisette. Cora is completely distraught that Lisette is missing she blames herself for her disappearance. Will her disappearance stop Cora's wedding in its tracks. What is the Kyrioi's plan? How do all the little pieces fall together? How will this ordeal change the lives of everyone involved? The answer is their lives will change completely and forever. There is no going back after this powerful ordeal. You must read this series you will laugh cry and take a few cold showers. I am super excited to begin Dorians journey. Thank you VM for this incredible world you have introduced us to.

I have been following this series from book 1 and while I have truly enjoyed every book....at the same time I am sorry to see it end. I have been rooting for Cora & Dorian to have the HAE and while I enjoyed the ending I am hoping to have more Cora books in the future. V.M. Black is one of my all time favorite authors and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next. With this series to use as my guide I am sure that whatever I pick up in the future by this author will keep me anxiously turning the pages well into the night! I can not recommend not giving any of her books a try....but a warning, once you start one you will be hooked and need to follow the series all the way to the end!

Cora's best friend an roommate has disappeared, just days before the wedding. The police are no help, since Lisette is an adult and according to them, college students have a tendecy to disappear for a couple of days all the time. Cora knows better, and since Lisette is her maid of honor, she insists that Dorian find her. It doesn't take long for Dorian to find out that it was aethers that kidnapped Lisette. This book takes a lot of twists and turns before the answer to Lisette's kidnapping becomes clear. There are surprises, sexy vampires and adventures in this book. I loved this book and hated that it had to end!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair review.
