Fighting a deadly battle on a cliff high above the raging sea, Seabhac hovers on the point of death. With a final thrust of magic, he escapes to Avalon and passes the essence of his knowledge to his apprentice, Ainevar. Driven to protect the endangered druid magic, Ainevar flees Seabhac’s attacker and begins a course of events that wind through history and take root in modern day Salem. It took a hefty bribe to convince New Yorker Cassandra Raines to decorate her brother’s new house. Especially since the house is located in Salem, and Cassandra has an aversion to magic. Her arrival in town embroils Cassandra in ritual murders, latent powers gone awry, and Salem’s attractive police chief, Samson Wilder, who harbors his own history of magic, curses, and deadly secrets. Past and present collide when the legacy of evil that has stalked Salem for centuries returns with a vengeance.
An avid reader since childhood, I used to wake up early in the morning to read before going to school. The books that first fired my imagination were the Black Stallion books by Walter Farley. My daydreams leaned toward finding myself stranded on a desert island with a black stallion only I could ride. Those daydreams helped me make it through, what I considered, the drudgery of school. Who wouldn't rather be romping in the freedom of the outdoors taming a wild stallion?
As I matured, so did my taste in books along with my daydreams. Escaping into the pages of a book captured my attention and pumped my senses like nothing else. Unfortunately, I was always of the mind that I could never actually write a book. You had to be a writer to do something like that. Eventually, I came to my senses. As my fortieth birthday approached, I decided to write a book. I had no idea how to write, what to write about, or even how to begin, but, imbued with Capricorn stubborness, I wrote anyway.
Currently, I am living my life-long dream on 50 acre farm in Ontario, Canada. This move to the country has proven to be time consuming, especially since a friend gave me two baby goats as a farm-warming gift. I have added to the herd and now own 12 goats, not to mention my Welsh pony, 3 dogs and 2 cats.
My husband, Fred, and I, own and operate a martial arts and wellness centre as well as run an archery range and store on our farm. I also work a part time job in order to help feed my menagerie of animals.
Ancient witches, also known quite possibly as druids and modern day witches are just a shadow of what they were, their knowledge lost to time. But briefly reappearing from the mists to help some modern day witches defeat the evil from their own past. Enthralling and page turning.
I only finished this book because I struggle with DNFing. There was no chemistry between the 2 love interests cassandra and samson. Cassandra spent most of the book full of self pity and whining, by 70% she still hadn't made up her mind whether she was going to stay and help save Salem from the ancient evil that had been haunting it. Samson is an alpha male and not in an attractive way. They both worked against each other until the very end and made things worse until 2 ancient druids came to save the day and cassandra and samson seemed to give little help considering they were "chosen".

A fun fast-paced fantasy with characters you would swear walked out of the streets of Salem in 1692. These are the kind of characters you want to get to know because they are so authentic and intuitive. You root for them when their instincts push them toward self actualization and their goals. The protagonist learns the truth about her past with the help of friends in order to save herself and modern day Salem from the evil lurking there. Can hardly wait to continue the saga in the third book of the series!
I wanted to love this. The premise of the story is awesome. The first book was good enough to make me want to keep going. Unfortunately, the editing in this one is really, really bad. Grammatical errors so bad that it would stop me in my tracks while I tried to figure out what it was supposed to say. POV shifting partway through a chapter, without even a break in paragraph sometimes. Overall, a major bummer more something I really wanted to like.
I unexpectedly loved Book 1 “ A Witches Lament”. Book 2 “A Witches Legacy” seemed to drag just a bit for me. I enjoyed it...don’t misunderstand...I was just not as involved in this one.
Well done and fun to read, I enjoyed this bit of light escapist, therapy reading!
In the first story Jerome, Sky and Samson manage to stop an ancient evil trying to destroy Salem. Then Cassandra arrives in Salem to decorate the house her brother bought. What she doesn't know is that she is a witch with amazing powers she just needs to unlock. The ancient evil has returned to destroy Salem! Can the trio stop it again?
This well written and gripping story brings an ancient battle of evil to a town famous for witchcraft. Strong characters make this a fantastic read. Would love to see it continue.
Ms. Cathy Walker delivers another homerun with books two of the Salem Witches series. Witches fighting an ancient evil taken to another level. I was hooked from start to finish, frantically devouring the book to know more. Well done!
Both book1 and 2 were awesome. I can't wait to read 3. She is a new author for me and I will read more. I could not put my kindle down when reading. I would stop to do something and could not wait to get back to the book.
Good continuation of the series that began with A Witch’s Lament. Some humor made for light moments to balance out brief episodes of murder and ritual sacrifices.
