The Federal lay up against the wire fence. His cheeks were sunken, his legs broken. In the distance he heard the joyful sound of children approaching. He thought maybe he can get one of them to send for help, and then he’d be okay. But this was Salvation, and nobody ever got out of Salvation alive.
