Now, she not only has her mother's antics to contend with, but also a tenacious heir. Giving in to just one date will change the course of everyone's lives.

Is Kennedy prepared for what lies ahead? Is truth stranger than fiction when Ivy League meets love in all the wrong places?

Kennedy Nightingale is a very serious girl attending Harvard, where her mother is a Sociology professor. When she starts tutoring Jackson Montgomery III, she's surprised that he aggressively pursues her. Believing they come from two very different worlds, which is enforced by his bigoted ex-girlfriends words, Kennedy refuses to go out with him. Going so far as to try to try to be replaces as his tutor. But when his, Hotel Magnet, grandfather surreptitiously threatens to pull his annual donation from the school if Kennedy doesn't continue to tutor Jackson, she feels she has no choice.

Over time Kennedy starts to see Jackson differently and after final decides to go out with him. The have a wonderful evening together, only to have all that happiness come crashing down around her the next day, from both Jackson and her mother...

I respect any and all writers for putting themselves out there and there was nothing really wrong with this prequel. It just was a little slow for me. Kennedy really had no real reason to turn Jackson down other than her preconceived notions of a rich kid.

It just seemed light with not a lot to keep my attention.

But, I thank the author for sending the book and giving me the opportunity to read it.

Not worth it

This book was written like I wrote it and that is real bad. First the main character Kennedy is a presumptuous bitch that is very annoying. She doesn't like Jackson because she assumes he is just like his grandfather. All she knows about his grandfather is what she has read. She turns down his advances throughout the book until the very end. On their first date she has sex with him?? What? Then it ends on a cliffhanger so you have to purchase the next book. Wrong! I will not! Storyline: 2 Heat: 1.5 Overall: 1.5 Recommend: no

We all can choose what we like to read and I can say I enjoyed this book and didn't want to put it down til it was done . For Jackson he is a rich kid going to college and he meets Kennedy whom is very serious about school .. Kennedy tutors student to help pay her tuition and finds out she is stuck with Jackson . Jackson needs help catching up from slacking off after something happened in his life . Can the two get along well enjoy for Kennedy to help Jackson pass. ?

I know that there has been a huge stepbrother craze and I figured why not try it out. it's free plus a prequel so it is not too heavy. The book started out with a lot of promise. It is good the see the background and character personalities and how they delveloped. Even better was the character growth between the H/h in this short novella. I liked each of the characters and the cause that brought them together. What I didn't like was how quickly Kennedy and Jackson hooked up after Kennedy spent months not even liking Jackson. The whole book was her pushing him away with not even her taking a look into how she felt about him. Then the quick misunderstanding at the end, there was no love that was expressed yet she was completely heart broken and depressed after one date. I will still definitely read the series because it ended with a cliffhanger and I cannot not just let it go.

This story was just shy of being ok. Nothing special about it, with very little personality woven in. Although I know this trope has been a bit overdone, I was still hopeful with this one...

I loved this book. I read it cover to cover in one sitting. I loved the chemistry between them. I loved how her mom knew right away they were together, even tho they tried desperately to hide it. You find yourself wanting to scream at her for not just saying the hell with it who cares who knows about us and going for it. It was wonderful how they had supportive friends.

It was funny, made you angry. But in the end true love prevailed.

A little too sweet for me
Rich boy wants girl from the other side of town. He maybe serious but she is deeply suspicious especially when she hears his ex slagging her off.

They finally have an amazing date followed by an equally amazing night but she finds him with his ex the following afternoon. If that's not bad enough she then has to contend with meeting her mother's new fiance.... guess who his son is!

I enjoyed the plot of this story as well as Jackson but Kennedy's back and forth was annoying as well as how that she decided if Jackson was a decent person based off of who he was and how much money he had, but gets upset that his ex called her a middle class townie. Looking forward to reading the next book to see if Kennedy grows up more.

Good lead up to the full story. It gives you the back story between the main characters. The spoiled rich frat boy and the hardworking class girl with a twist.

very short read. at first I thought Kennedy was a bit bitchy towards Jackson. I get she is serious with her studies, and is thinking he just wants her for sex. but she's so unnecessarily rude and then they are on their first days and she is unbuttoning his pants!! whaaaaat?

but OK, I've accepted that.. I'm glad things are moving along towards the good stuff. but then the bitch ex is there to cause drama. it's not enough that you are finding our you're mom is dating his dad. engaged no less! but should it really matter considering the kids are adults? idk.

I do want to read the next one. I hope there isn't much drama with this ex. I think there is enough drama with how uncomfortable she is going to be knowing her mom is marrying his dad. and in her mom's words "you will finally have a father"...why now? she's a college student! she's done great not having a father her whole life. ugh.

I'm hooked! Kennedy is a hard working student. Her main focus is school! Her mom works as a professor as well. But she is scholar student so she also tutors people. She was assigned to tutor Jackson. He kept trying to take her out but she kept denying. She was going to quit being his tutor but the school talked to him and he quit. After the food drive and everything kennedy saw him in a new light. He was kind smart and helpful. So she went on a date with him and ended up sleeping with him. That next day she goes to visit him and his ex Meredith is there and they were kissing. But Jackson claims she came on to him. Kennedy runs out and ends up breaking things off. The next day her mom calls to meet with her to meet her lover. It so happens to be Jacksons dad

Well, hello, jumping-to-conclusions girl. ;-) I keep going back and forth about whether she should have heard Jackson out, but she *did* see what she did, and she *does* have these preconceived notions about the kind of girl Jackson should be with. Still, he took her on that fabulous date and she had a great time.... until. I'll definitely read the whole book to see where this goes. I'm pretty sure where it will end, but it's the in-between that makes the story.

Don't get hung up on the stepbrother aspect....the story is great!

Kennedy is a student and tutor at Harvard and now has to tutor the renowned Jackson. He wants her and she wants nothing to do with him. His goal is to win her over while hers is to get through the tutoring sessions and get him out of her life. Since it's a prequel I don't want to give it away, but it definitely made me want to read the next book!

A Great Read!

I really enjoyed reading My Stepbrother, My Lover: The Prequel, all about Kennedy a young college student who does tutoring to help pay for her tuition & Jackson Montgomery III is the new student that needs tutoring. The author wrote an amazing story, and the characters made the story come to life. Read about Kennedy & Jackson and the interesting adventures they have together. I can't wait to read the next book!

Held my interest

This was a great beginning to a good book, but what irritated me was I bought this book and then bought the second book and it had the prequel already in it. I was say if you are interested in My Stepbrother, My Lover, then I would buy the other book that has the prequel in it.

I enjoyed this book. I liked the way the characters were set up. I love that the once rich boy Jackson was interested normal girl Kennedy that he didn't wonder to easier girls until he could land the girl. I liked that he fought to keep her even when she thought it could never work because of their parents.

Hot Prequel

I really enjoyed this. Jackson seems preppy but in a hot way. Kennedy is attracted but afraid to show it. What happens when they give in and how will it end. I can't wait to read the book to see how it ends.
