A once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Patagonia and then stumble upon a sexy Scottish mountaineer. Ummm, that sounds like one adventure I would love to embark upon. And did I forget to mention that a big part of the story takes place in a tent with a hot rugged Scottish mountaineer? So yes, Lia Riley has indeed taken her readers on one passionate, sexy, and touching journey filled with a love on the ledge.
As readers trek in this whirlwind and fast paced romance, Lia Riley has woven a story filled with raw emotions, heartbreak, adventure and new beginnings. She has somehow managed to create not only an outdoor adventure but also an adventure where love propels. Auden Woods has always taken the safe route, and so when she was offer an opportunity to work for an outdoor magazine to jump start her journalism career, she was ready to trade in her heels for hiking boots. And so when Auden finds herself in need of rescuing, she never expected Rhys MacAskill to skillfully have her in knots. As Rhys and Audeen find themselves in survival mode during a storm, these two suddenly find themselves not only bundling against the winds but also an unexpected whirlwind of feelings that will hit both of them much harder. Auden was the calm to Rhys storm and Rhys breathed new life into Auden. Hence, they perfectly complimented each other.
As much as I did enjoy the book, my only complaint was the ending was a bit rushed for my taste. I just wished Ms. Riley was able to extend and elaborate more of the happily ever after ending for Auden and Rhys. But other than that, With Every Breath was still and and enjoyable read. It was sweet, sexy, and emotional.

Man! There is so much to love about this book. I have been following and reading Lia Riley’s books for a while now, and with each book she writes, she manages to make me fall deeper and deeper in love with her stories. I have to say that With Every Breath is by far my favorite book by her to do date. This book has it all! You have intriguing characters, a sexy brooding lead, and an exciting location. What more can you ask for???!!
From the moment I started reading this book, I had to know more. I was so intrigued by Auden. Her life was, well, it really was a mess. Things were just going from bad to worse, so when she interviews for an exciting internship, she finds herself embarking on an unexpected quest. This journey was supposed to be her chance to shine; her chance to make a name for herself and to finally take some risks. Falling in love and finding herself along the way was never expected. Rhys has a lot of regrets in life and his brother getting hurt in a climbing accident may be his biggest regret yet. He finds himself wanting to go to La Aguja in hopes of finding some peace and discovering his hearts desires. Meeting Auden was the last thing on his mind. Thanks to a storm, these two will find themselves stuck with each other (at least for one night) and as much as Rhys tries to fight it, there’s just something about this American he can’t shake…..
I absolutely loved this story. I was hooked from the very first page and was unable to put it down. I devoured it in just a few hours; it was that good. I easily got lost in the story of Rhys and Auden. Their story, so intriguing, so captivating. I couldn’t get enough of it. Sure the two of them had a lot of ups and downs along the way, but that’s a part of what made this story so good. I loved watching the two of them try to navigate their way through this journey.
With Every Breath was a fantastic read, from start to finish. I loved the characters and the story-line. I thought the story-line was refreshing and intriguing. With Every Breath isn't my favorite Lia Riley book, but I still very much enjoyed her distinct blend of humor and low angst romance. I think it just took me a while to get into the story, because I found Auden's narration to be somewhat grating and silly. Her inward thoughts were just sometimes so out there, that it seemed a forced attempt at humor, but then there were moments when the girl really had me cracking up. Once we actually get to the main setting - Patagonia and the summit of La Aguja - I was able to settle into the story more. I like adventure stories, the way they test characters both physically and mentally. Auden and Rhys both have their inner demons to conquer, and it was fun to see them chip away at each other while at the same time offering strength and comfort. I like that, through their romance, they both change for the better. I was a goner from the beginning with Rhys, who is not only brooding and grumpy with a soft side, but he's Scottish too. That's a combination guaranteed to make me swoon! Thankfully there's very little drama between him and Auden, and I was able to really sink into their love story. Their banter is a lot of fun! There was one thing I didn't like at the end of the book, which I can't talk about due to spoilers, but it involves a side character and I was pretty upset that it happened.
As my first contemporary romance read of 2016, I think I've started on the right course. Lia Riley is definitely a go-to author for me, and I'm excited to see whose story we'll get next in this series.

With Every Breath kinda totally surprised me..
Well, don't misunderstand me. I had high expectations. This was written by Riley after all. The blurb sounded amazeballs
BUT what I didn't expect was how much it touched me.
First it's set here:
I always always wanted to go to Patagonia... But after reading this. I am obsessed. Full on, officially obsessed.
Then there is Rhys. And I guess I am a sucker for moody, grumpy bad boys, add to that melancholy and hot mountair and I am a goner.
The story line is unique in some ways. The romance though very insta everything. I mean their insta-lust is rather a bit too much. Their insta-love however, though it's really sudden, I kinda got that one. Especially since it's rather surprising to everyone involved.
Despite the insta-elements though, Riley does dig deeper and we get beautiful unique moments, which made me sigh. Literally.
The ups and downs of this, had me riveted and I was really invested by the end. In fact I love how Riley solved things. It wasn't a insta-HEA. It was much closer to the real deal This coming from someone who met her husband on a trip- and kinda got married on "a whim" a couple of months later and moved to the other side of the world. I guess that's why this story might have gotten to me as well. It's touched me on a personal level. I had some of my happiest moments in the mountains- being from Heidiland and all- hiking being still one of my favorite things to do. Being in the mountains is still one of the most awe inspiring experiences for me. And traveling an essential for my happiness.
So the setting was tailor made for my liking.
The character building was really good for Rhys and Auden. I liked some of the climbers as well. But I have to say that the villains are way to polarised and one sided. I didn't believe the siblings issues- well, I did because who doesn't have some siblings rivalry? I also liked that the twins weren't totally in tune, finishing each other's sentences and all that. BUT I found the viciousness of the rivalry too much. It felt over the top and more than that I simply didn't find it reasonable. It felt too fictional and to melodramatic, like Riley was stressing the point to have a point.
Rhys and Auden on the other side, had interesting growth, changed and I fell in love with both of them. Well, in the beginning I actually didn't like Auden much. I felt she was a crybaby and rather a spoilt brat even if she tried to stress how she wasn't. I felt she need to grow up and stand on her own feet... and through the journey she did. She did own up to her life, she did take responsibility and I really ended up loving her.
Rhys. SIGH!. Definitely a new BOOK BOYFRIEND there. He is amazing, totally annoyingly stubborn and a martyr, he at times needed a good smack- but I totally got why he was in that state. And again, just like Auden he did face things and work through it.
An amazing couple that felt real and believable.
The writing is what makes this so awesome.
Because Riley's description of Patagonia are incredible. But more so her descriptions of how Auden felt being in the mountains- just wow!
I feel like I was there, I just wanna be there.
Riley's strength is in the subtle moments and in conveying feelings in my opinion. Which is what touched me so much. Seriously. I am totally in love with Rhys and Patagonia, but more so I am in love with Riley's writing. I wish I could chat with her about her trip to Patagonia- and I would love to go on a trip with her. I maybe should mention, I am harmless, even if that sounds totally stalkerish. LOL. Just in awe of Riley's writing.
One of the best books of 2015 in my opinion.
A must read for lovers of the genre. BUT be warned, it might mean you going to have to visit Patagonia as well.... (my wanderlust has been unleashed and I can't seem to tone it down.)

After first reading Lia Riley's debut, "Sideswiped" only a year and a half ago, she is quickly becoming one of my go-to contemporary romance authors! I've really enjoyed every book I've read by her, but I'd have to say that "With Every Breath" is probably my favourite.
This book has everything I love in a good romance: adventure, fantastic setting, characters with depth, plenty of steamy bits, drama and angst (but not overly much!), some nasty "villains", some sad, tragic parts, and a fast-paced plot. It also had me laughing out loud here and there, which is definitely a bonus.
I love how Auden is a bit unsure of herself in the beginning. She's lacking in esteem and confidence, but she's willing to take a risk and really go beyond what she's comfortable with in order to make an impression at the magazine where she hopes to work. Her gumption and ambition drew me to her, and I was really hoping for her to succeed. (I also have a lot in common with her - in the beginning of the book, where Auden is experiencing the beginning stages of hypothermia? Yep, been there! Only where Rhys, albeit rather grudgingly, invites Auden into his tent and nurses her back to health, my husband dumped me off in our tent and went fishing! Not really my best memory!) And Rhys, he's not perfect either, but I love how he's got a bit of mystery surrounding him, and how little bits are revealed throughout the story until the picture is more clear. The Scottish accent and climber's body certainly don't hurt!
My biggest regret is reading this book too quickly and having it end too soon. Basically I just wanted more. More Rhys, more Auden, they were both awesome. Will they appear in one of Riley's future books? I sure hope so! (Although I don't want to hear about Auden's sister ever again - she is evil and anything else I want to say about her is not really appropriate for polite conversation!)

I've read a few of Lia's other books, and while the synopsis of this one didn't grab me, I was eager to try it.
I liked Auden and Rhys well enough. Their banter was fun and probably the best part of the story. I did think that it was a little fast for them to fall in love. Even the characters questioned it, yet somehow it worked.
I was expecting a lot of technical climbing scenes and jargon; thankfully it was pretty basic. There were a few scenes I would have liked to punch someone, but I guess you just have to have conflict.
Overall, it was a quick read with an ending I enjoyed. I'll definitely keep looking at Lia's other books.

Is it ok to admit I judged this book by it’s blurb? Words like ‘summit of La Aguja’, ‘climbers’, ‘mountaineers’ and ’hiking-boots’ assaulted me and I instantly felt a bit dubious as I didn’t know anything about this type of adventure romance and going up a mountain seemed as interesting as listening to my hubby list all the modifications he wants do to his car to make it race faster (because he’s clearly experiencing a midlife crisis and you can only drive the legal limit anyway) but once again I was proven to be a terrible narrow-minded individual because not only did this book take me out of my comfort zone in reading, but it completely blew my mind in every way. It goes beyond the romance genre and into something all of its own making. Sure we get to traverse inhospitable regions and learn the reality and perils of climbing, especially unprepared and in extreme weather, but on this incredible journey we’re shown one of the greatest and most memorable romance stories. The connection that gruff Scottish mountaineer Rhys MacAskill and the wonderfully named Auden Woods experience is elemental, fierce, as well as instantaneous, whether their stunning natural surroundings amplify those feelings and emotions I’m not quite sure, but what these two go through together in only a few days amounts to more passion, confusion, fear and longing than most people get to experience in the entirety of their lives.

She takes hold of my hair as defiance flashes in her gaze. Closer, she comes. Her quickened breath warms my face. There’s a strangled noise. Shit, that’s me. A freckle punctuates the corner of her top lip. She bypasses my mouth and gives me jaw a sweetly sharp nip. “Bet I can bite harder.”’’
The way Lia describes Patagonia-the harsh and unpredictable weather and the vast array of colour, sound and light-paints a rather vivid canvas in your head, so you find it no trouble at all to imagine yourself in that tent, in a storm, battling back raging hormones and awkwardness. Rhys is utter perfection, he has the damaged lone wolf skill set down pat and it’s Auden’s remarkably infectious personality that brings an element of light and fun to both Rhys and the story over all. She is endearingly clumsy but lovable to his gruff and terse nature and together they create a force to be reckoned with. It’s a fabulous story and I can honestly say there wasn’t one single thing I would have altered. There are so many dramatic points, twists and tragic situations mixed in with funnier lighter moments and some hot and heavy ones, that you are literally flipping that page over as quickly as your eyes will let you read. Tremendously well written with two completely engaging characters to lead you through this exciting adventure.
And on that note I would like to offer up an apology to Lia Riley for doubting the brilliance of With Every Breath simply from reading the synopsis.

The way Lia describes Patagonia-the harsh and unpredictable weather and the vast array of colour, sound and light-paints a rather vivid canvas in your head, so you find it no trouble at all to imagine yourself in that tent, in a storm, battling back raging hormones and awkwardness. A snobbish Scottish mountaineer with climbing issues, Rhys MacAskill didn't like it a bit to see a camper (who turned out to be a journalist) knocking on his tent's threshold, asking if he'd allow her to stay for the night. Seeing that he needed to take matters into his hands, he relented and realized too late that he'd just made a mistake at looking at her.
Auden Woods, determined to secure a job at one of the reputable adventure magazine company, laced her hiking boots, armed herself with mountain climbing supplies and off she went to Patagonia and conquer La Aguja. If only that were easy. Realizing she couldn't even setup her tent, dealing with a snobbish and stubbornly sexy rogue proved to be quite a challenge for her.
Until she could no longer stand the cold to the point of hypothermia. Body heat, a book, poetry, a snowstorm, lightning striking on the same spot - well, those are the chances she had to take. And so much more..

This book appealed to me on so many levels. I love romance and I enjoy climbing. Not only that, I have read so many climbing biographies and devoured documentaries about climbing expeditions; it's fair to say this couldn't be more up my street. I have an advantage over many reading this book, I know what the area in Patagonia looks like, I can visualise the peaks. This said, the descriptions don't do really do the scenery justice, but in fairness this isn't a climbing book.
The characters in this book are infinitely appealing. Rhys is gruff, grumpy and gorgeous. He's so spikey it is amazing that Auden manages to get under his skin. Auden is a journalist intern and in the area to cover some of the climbers. Press coverage is the opposite of what Rhys needs and wants. Auden has ways of getting Rhys to notice her.

This was the very first book I read written by Lia Riley and I was not disappointed. I was first struck by the cover because come on, we all look at the cover before anything else. Then when I read the synopsis I was definitely intrigued. This is a Wanderlust Novel. When thinking of the word wanderlust I always think of adventure in far away lands and am instantly interested.
This book is set in Patagonia, which is certainly a place that most of us only dream about seeing. Climbers from all over the world travel there for there chance to climb La Aguja and that's what takes both Rhys and Auden there, although for different reasons. By conquering this climb Rhys is looking for some sort of redemption, and Auden is looking to further her career by getting some hard to get interviews with climbers. When Auden winds up at Rhys' tent things that neither one of them were expecting start to come into play.

Sexy Scottish mountaineer? Sign me up, stat! I had been looking forward to reading this book for what seemed liked forever, and I was not in the least bit disappointed. The light-hearted playful banter alongside a smoldering chemistry kept me constantly entertained. There isn't a book out there that can compete with its originality.
While the emotional aspect might not be as dark and heartbreaking as some books, this dialogue was so entertaining that there didn't need to be a huge tragedy to have me fully engaged in the novel. And with quotes like this, how can you really go wrong?

With Every Breath is one such story.
An unexpected journey to Patagonia, the treacherous La Aguja Mountain, and a brutal storm, brings Auden Woods into the path of infamous mountaineer, Rhys MacAskill. While Auden is looking to land her dream job at an adventure magazine, Rhys is looking for something deeper—a chance at redemption. Not that he thinks he deserves it.
Neither Auden nor Rhys expect love to be on the cards, but thrown together by something like fate, a connection is formed, tying the two together. But Rhys is also tied to his demons, and cutting them loose is not a task of which he believes himself capable…
This book is…something akin to crack. I was entranced by it. Despite being a touch apprehensive about it, because I've read enough of Lia Riley’s work (and also, that blurb) to know that my heart was in for a pounding, I soon found myself sucked into the journey of Auden and Rhys. And what a journey it was. Where Auden—who was impossible not to love— was quirky, passionate, and increasingly self-aware and strong in the face of her challenges, Rhys was gruff, rough and perhaps even a little blind—that kind of broken, scarred, edgy man who makes a girl swoon when he reveals an inner strength cushioned by softness. He was, by turns, rude, elusive, sexy and so giving of himself in small ways, one could easily forgive him for not always being forthcoming or rational in the face of his pain.
Pain that, for me, bordered on cruelty. To face what he did—and to have it doubled-down it seemed—gave me an ache inside that wasn't *quite* eased by the remainder of the story. After finishing With Every Breath, I'm feeling this remarkable mix of joy over this couple, and hurt over what they faced—together and separately—that I am struggling to articulate it. It feels, on some levels, like there's something missing from the end of this story; key moments that might have been built on or communicated better that verily disappeared into the fog at the top o’ the mountain. And yet, I feel rewarded for simply having meet these people on their journey to a perfect, hopeful future that neither thought possible, but for different reasons.
With Every Breath is something else. It's different—lyrical almost, funny at times, sexy for sure, touching most definitely—and yet, it's left me feeling a little off-kilter. And not just because—as beautiful as it is—the cover made me question the characters’ descriptions. (I'm aware this seems an odd thing, but as a not-overly visual person, I often build a picture based on a cover, and this instance it clashed in my mind, throwing me.) *Sigh* What I wouldn't give to spend just a little more time on the mountain and in the ‘real’ world with this grumpy Scottish climber and his sparkling American girl, grabbing hold of just a touch more information. I loved Rhys and Auden together; they balance each other out and it’s a beautiful thing to witness. Rhys makes Auden stronger, gives her more confidence—helps her realize her worth in this world. Auden softens Rhys, gives him a safe place to land, and helps him wrestle his own demons. They have a lot to overcome, and the road is far from smooth sailing, but so worth it in the end.
Rhys was sexy and broody and one of those gruff, tough guys with the big, soft underbelly (which, by the way, is one of my favorite things). But for me, Auden stole the show in this book. Lia Riley has a gift for writing these adorable, quirky heroines that are impossible not to root for. Even if they are fighting their own battles, they’re works in progress and are never weak. I really did love Auden—she cracked me up, broke my heart, and made me so very proud.
I was hopelessly sucked into this story, reading well past my bedtime to figure out where things were going. I loved the sometimes snarky, sometimes playful give-and-take between Rhys and Auden. I loved their intensity, and their physical chemistry. My only complaint is that it felt a little rushed towards the end—like due diligence wasn’t given to some extremely emotional plot twists—and some of the smaller things were sort of left hanging. I also would have liked to have seen a bit more emotion packed into the end—so much happened so quickly that it sort of had a glossed over feel. It was a little bit of whiplash, but it didn’t take away from how beautifully the book was written or how completely I was hooked on the story. ~ Shelly, 4 stars

I've been a fan of Lia Riley ever since her Brightwater series. In the past few months, I've started to move away from NA books, but when I saw that this author had one releasing with a grumpy Scottish hero, I knew I had to pick up With Every Breath. If you didn't know it, grumpy heroes are my kryptonite and Lia Riley knows how to write them well.
Rhys and Auden were both characters that were hard to form a bond with at first, but eventually grew on me as they opened up to each other and to readers. Auden was at that point in her life, when she had finally learned to stand up to the people around her who constantly put her down, including her evil twin sister. Throughout With Every Breath, she grew to be a stronger, braver and more independent character on her trip to Patagonia. The journey wasn't just an exciting career opportunity for her, it was also life-changing in many personal ways. Rhys, himself, was a grump, never smiling or showing to others what he was truly like. He was battling with a lot of inner demons, guilt being one of the main ones, and he shut himself down because of them. It was hard to watch him torture himself at times. For Rhys too, the journey was life-changing, one where he learned to overcome his demons and work towards his happiness. Both these characters aren't characters that I would normally connect with because we're so vastly different, but somehow with this book, I did. I grew to really love them and wanted nothing more than for them to be happy by the end of the book.

Rhys and Auden's romance was a bit quick to develop, but to me, it didn't feel like insta-love. I believed in their connection, so their romance felt natural to me. They had what seemed like clashing personalities at first, her with her being on the funnier and bubblier side while he was more gruff, but they worked really well together. The chemistry between them was delicious and intense, but what I loved even more was how they grew together as a couple. I was a little worried about the potential misunderstanding blowing up in a huge way, with Auden keeping a secret that could really hurt Rhys, but it was handled really well and never felt contrite.
In the end, With Every Breath wound up being a sweet and at times, heartbreaking story of two unlikely people finding their way to each other. This is definitely a book I will recommend to NA readers looking for an angsty story with a unique and breathtaking setting.

Sometimes the adventure you have planned for yourself is not what life has planned. This book beautifully communicates that fact. When I started reading With Every Breath I had an expectation of how this book would progress and it went to places every better than I anticipated. It is set in such a vibrant and exciting location, the Patagonia, a place on my bucket list. The themes and situations are things that tug on my wanderlust heart strings. Lia Riley takes something that is adventurous and daring and turns it into something heartfelt and life altering. This book was about more than climbing a mountain and falling in love. It is about discovering who you are and embracing every aspect of the yourself. It is about learning to let go and leave behind the toxicity that tries to drag you down and learning to forgive and trust yourself.
Our heroine and hero are two fantastic characters! Auden is yet another fun and sassy heroine to add to Lia’s resume. She is fresh and full of spunk. Her personality is vibrant. When she is in the Patagonia, she learns to be bold and embrace every aspect of who she is, not hiding the parts others may frown upon. She is a relatable NA heroine, one who bit off more than she can chew and attempts to conquer the world in front of her. She grows so much in this story and her growth is both believable and admirable.
Rhys. Ah! Be still my heart. He is one of my ultimate book boyfriends. He is rugged, handsome, surly, determined, fierce, and kind. His sense of adventure is sexy. I love the mountains and the culture of climbing. Lia does a great job of exploring that sense of adventure and how it weaves into who he is. This sexy Scotsman is rough around the edges but when you get to the gooey center you cannot help but melt.
The chemistry between Rhys and Auden is on fire. These two cannot seem to keep away from each other. A chance encounter turns into something more. The environment and companionship allows for them both to embrace a new part of who they are. Rhys challenges Auden to be more bold and true to her wants and needs. Rhys is challenged by Auden to see things in a new perspective. She is a constant push of fresh life on his dark mood and it challenges him to see things in a new way. These two connect fast and deep. What starts as a fling becomes something that has the potential to change their future.
As with everyone of Lia’s stories, there are hard themes to read. What could be a downer on the story is woven so intricately into what is happening that you cannot help but connect with the hardships of each character. Auden and Rhys are the main focus of this book, allowing the reader to connect whole-heartedly with their story. The secondary characters are vital to who Rhys and Auden are. They feed into what is happening but the majority of the story takes place in the beauty of the mountains with just out two main characters. This book snuck onto my best of 2015 right there at the end of the year, It is a story of adventure, love, and self discovery you will not want to miss.

I love the mountains and the culture of climbing. Lia does a great job of exploring that sense of adventure and how it weaves into who he is. This sexy Scotsman is rough around the edges but when you get to the gooey center you cannot help but melt.
The chemistry between Rhys and Auden is on fire. These two cannot seem to keep away from each other. A chance encounter turns into something more. The environment and companionship allows for them both to embrace a new part of who they are. Rhys challenges Auden to be more bold and true to her wants and needs. Rhys is challenged by Auden to see things in a new perspective. She is a constant push of fresh life on his dark mood and it challenges him to see things in a new way. These two connect fast and deep. What starts as a fling becomes something that has the potential to change their future.
As with everyone of Lia’s stories, there are hard themes to read. What could be a downer on the story is woven so intricately into what is happening that you cannot help but connect with the hardships of each character. Auden and Rhys are the main focus of this book, allowing the reader to connect whole-heartedly with their story. The secondary characters are vital to who Rhys and Auden are. They feed into what is happening but the majority of the story takes place in the beauty of the mountains with just out two main characters. This book snuck onto my best of 2015 right there at the end of the year, It is a story of adventure, love, and self discovery you will not want to miss.

With Every Breath is the first book in author Lia Riley's newest new adult (NA) romance series, Wanderlust. This book came as a surprise, and not only because it was very different from the first and only series I ever read from the author, which was Brightwater. A part of me was expecting a lot of technical jargon and descriptive showcasing of both the gorgeous backdrop that is Patagonia and the exhilarating endeavor that is mountain climbing. While there is a bit of that, a lot of the interaction between Auden Woods and Rhys MacAskill happens in close quarters, meaning that it's mostly limited within the bubble that's formed around them and, surprisingly, I wouldn't really say that it was a negative, because then it allowed the focus to be solely on the two, without anything else taking away the attention.
Auden uses the trip to hopefully discover a part of herself that she hopes exists and will flourish further. This is her opportunity to take chances and to fully participate in a new adventure and not just be a mere observer. When she meets Rhys, it becomes clear pretty quickly that the twenty-five-year-old climber is dealing with something heavy. They're both trying to deal with their respective relationships with their siblings, and while Auden's twin sister deserves to be told off more often, it's Rhys's story with his brother that's quite heartbreaking. There were a couple of twists concerning Rhys and Cameron that I didn't see coming, and I actually got teary-eyed at one point. Rhys is tormented by guilt and it's not even absolution that he's looking for. I admit that he's the biggest reason that I really enjoyed and liked this series starter.
The story has drama and angst, but it also has lighthearted moments, courtesy mostly of Auden and her inner musings that end up getting blurted out in the most awkward of situations. Considering they were only together for several days, a lot transpired between Auden and Rhys, and I'm not just talking about the having sex and falling in love parts. The biggest part of their connection is emotional, and they're able to help one another open themselves to the possibilities that neither one believed existed for them. December has been proving to be a month filled with a heck of a lot of really good reads and this series starter is certainly on that list. I'm not sure what or who will comprise the rest of the Wanderlust series but it's one that I'll be keeping my eye on in 2016. With Every Breath is a 4.5-starred (rounded off to five stars) and worthwhile read. ♥

I kid you not - I totally finished this book in one go. I couldn't stop myself, I didn't want to stop myself. I was in the mood for a nice NA, sexy and cute and Lia Riley delivered on a silver platter. She took out the big guns and combined the best of both worlds - the adventure, heart-in-the-throat and the swoony, cute as a cupcake times.

I literally have not one single bad thing to say about this book.
Two 20 something meet in Patagonia on the trip to climb mountain of Andes. He is looking for forgiveness and she is looking for inspiration. Both looking for hope.
I loved meet cute, likable characters, broody hero, writing, natural progress of the story and the feels. Damnit I wasn't expecting it. It got quite emotional at some point.

And all the nature, beautiful nature makes my heart want to wander too.
I wouldn't mind adventure like this and even for now just in the form of a book and that is why I love books so much....
And that is saying something because I am not one for camping and tents and outdoors with free access to lightning and rain...

I have adored every book I have read of this author ever since I picked up her debut last year and thus my love affair with this author begin. Now after two series from her, we finally get her first standalone featuring a sexy Scottish mountaineer and an American girl who is out of her depth.
Auden is a play by the safe good girl. Until she forced to lie in order to get the internship she wants her dream job. She doesn’t want the whole corporate journalism career , she wants the outdoor magazine job . The unknown Now she on a life time opportunity to travel to Patagonia to get the dream job but it doesn’t go to plan exactly. As she stumbles on a sexy Scottish mountaineer wih a chip on their shoulder who doesn’t want to be found when she gets lost . Rhys may have issues he trying to forget but his good nature and common sense hasn’t gone exactly and he saves her . Forcing them to spend time together in close quarters in a tent ….
You probably can guess what took place but that only the tipsy of this passionate and heartbreaking/heartawrming story. Despite the whirlwind almost instant love feel to the story. Riley coaches to the story to let it organically reavel the stories of Rhys and Auden as they unburden their pasts that led to them spending the last days of the year on a mountain on a outdoor adventure.
It pretty comes clear that this adventure isn’t about the reason why they on their adventure to help their futures. It their pasts that have led them to this point as they past the time trying to survive. As they evoke feelings in each other in that short time with every breath they took. From the moment that they both shared that moment about books., it was obvious they were gonners.
As they went deep fast with the author showing us that they needed each other desperately. They were the perfect half for the other showing and helping with what they need. With Rhys showing Auden was alright to move on and be the person that she was supposed to be and Auden being the voice of reason, the calming influence he desperate so needed.
It was a perfect romance until the end as whilst it had the instant/whirwind feel to the story, the ending need a little more oomph. I wished there was more to the happily ever after for these two right then the note we ended on. There was some lose ends and do hope she does revisit them at some point.
As for a standalone it did its job most aside from the couple of lose ends and that why I give it 4 couples

All I could do after finishing this one was sigh—sigh in the best way. Because Rhys MacAskill and Auden Woods are just something else entirely. Their HEA was hard fought, a huge struggle and wasn't all that pretty walk in the park kind.
This is a story about two people going on an important, life-changing expedition to La Aguja—one of the most dangerous mountains to climb to the peak. It's believed that if you reach the peak of this mountain, you'll attain what your heart desires the most. For Auden Woods, it was for a boost in her career being a journalist, and to prove to herself and her twin sister that she could do more, be more. She wanted a juicy story that could get her a secured job position at the magazine she interns at. For Rhys MacAskill—a known mountain climber—it was for penance, redemption, to find peace and forgiveness after a tragedy that resulted to the loss of his brother. It was the only way he thought he would be able to come to terms with what he did on that climb that made him a monster in the eyes of the media—of everybody. They both had their goals in mind, yet fate has thrown them at each other's paths before the climb happened. And it changed the direction they were both taking on drastically. They found their peace, and on their way, they saved each other too. And then some.
I loved the progress to Rhys and Auden's relationship. Their witty bantering and hilarious teasing were so entertaining that I always craved for more. Both their personalities were so appealing and engaging that I couldn't stop reading. Their intense connection and their sizzling hot chemistry were out of this world and so much fun to observe. I remember when I first read the blurb, I was so hot for the built, bearded Scottish hero of the story. (And I still am, thank you very much.) But what I didn't realize was the burden weighing him down. That in this book, he would be the one needing the comfort and support, regardless if he was physically strong and massive on the outside. He was so lost that even I wanted to hold his hand and hug him all throughout. Yes, I would totally stand up and volunteer.
This is such a great book about forgiveness . Not only towards others, but yourself as well. It opened my eyes more to the fact that everybody fears something, yet if we don't go through with it or even start within ourselves, nothing would happen. Nothing would ever change and we'd get stuck to where we are until who knows how long.
Again, something written by Lia Riley inspires me and continues to hold my attention. I love Rhys and Auden so much, you guys have to read this. Considering the fact that this is a change of setting and scenery for the usual books I read—it's more outdoorsy and breezy and all up there in the clouds. Just read it. ;)

It takes place at the Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia, Chile. I love to hike, so a hiking romance novel is right up my alley. With Every Breath is the story of Auden and Rhys. I absolutely loved the romance and the setting of this story. I could not put this book down. In fact, it was one of my favorite reads of the year.
Auden and Rhys each have different reasons for their hike in Patagonia. Auden just landed a writing internship with an outdoors magazine and she wants to interview hikers to upgrade her internship to a paying job. Rhys has a big secret that has been haunting him. More and more of his story unfolds as With Every Breath unfolds and his story really gripped my heart. I felt for him so much, because his past was consuming him. Auden sees him and sees what his past is doing to who he is, and I loved that about her. The two of them were like magic on paper. I could not get enough of their interactions, their experiences, and their road to romance. With Every Breath is the kind of book that made me ignore everything going on around me. I was so ensconced in their world, and the magic of Patagonia.
I cannot wait to see what is going to come next in the wanderlust series. I really hope the next book also focuses on Auden and Rhys. It seemed like their story stopped at a good place for them, but I am not done with these two. I want more, more, MORE. There are plenty more adventures for them to go on. (yes, I am begging you Lia Riley) Sometimes a book just speaks to you so completely that you fall in love with it. That happened to me with With Every Breath. I fell in love with the characters, with the setting and with the story. With Every Breath releases tomorrow and I recommend everyone grab a copy. I don't care whether you are a hiker or not, and I don't care if you are burnt out on new adult. This is one story that you do not want to miss. Trust me. I’ve read (and loved) most of Lia Riley’s books, so I’ve been excited about With Every Breath since the moment I heard about it. Sexy Scottish mountaineer? Travel? THAT STUNNING COVER?! Put that all together and you get a book that’s emotional, sexy, and hard to put down.
Two things I’ve come to expect from Lia Riley’s books: a surly hero and sexytimes that leave you needing a cold shower. With Every Breath makes it official - Riley is the queen of hotter-than-hot sex scenes, and nobody does brooding heros quite like she does. Tortured heros aren’t always my thing, but Riley has a way of writing complex characters who have a good (and usually heartbreaking) reason for being the way they are, and they end up tugging at your heart strings and making you sympathize with them. Of course it didn’t hurt that Rhys was crazy sexy and I could picture him (and hear him - RAWR Scottish accent!) with perfect clarity. He and Auden were both great characters and I enjoyed getting to know them.
This book is a case of instalove done right. A lot of people complain about instalove, but I don’t mind it if it’s done right. Rhys and Auden were two broken, confused people, and they didn’t ‘fix’ each other, but they showed each other things that helped them overcome some of their issues and start to heal. There was no magical, overnight solution and neither of them was instantly healed; it was clear they both still needed to work through some things, but they aided in kick-starting the healing process for each other. While the book sometimes felt like it had more sex than plot, the story was touching and I think its themes - forgiveness and realizing your own self-worth in particular - will resonate with a lot of people.
With Every Breath made me run the gamut of emotions. I laughed, teared up, and swooned. It was heartbreaking at times, but I was smiling and satisfied when I finished reading. Lia Riley has written another fun, original story that packs an emotional punch.

The story was compelling and I was very pleased that Auden and Rhys's relationship didn't scream insta-love even though the book doesn't span much time. It was all set at a nice pace. For me though, the emotional aspects of the story didn't quite pull at my heartstrings like I feel they could have and I would have liked more from the ending. OMG I loved this book! Sexy Scottish mountain climber stranded together sharing a tent with the heroine, Auden, in the remote corners of Patagonia = AWESOME SETUP. The scenery in this book was breathtaking, the characters were real and flawed and absolutely captivating, and the sexy times were, well...sexy :) This book was steamy and fast-paced and full of all the feels. I had tears in my eyes by the end for Rhys and Auden. Loved every moment!

Super cute, but for some reason more angsty than I thought it should have been in the end. Adventurous, with an awesome heroine that really grew (so did the hero, but I had more reservations about him). Another hit for Lia Riley!

When I first read the synopsis of With Every Breath, I was all like, “Patagonia? La Aguja?? MOUNTAINEERING????” I thought this book would be wildly out of my league (basically the every movie star ever to my Rhea) and I remember thinking how hard that would suck because, in case y’all missed the memo, I really fucking love Lia Riley. And then I remembered thinking “that's okay", and “she’ll write other stuff that I’ll enjoy” and “gee big deal, I’ll get to it once I figure out if a mountain book is my thing."
This "argument” that I had with myself did not even last for ten minutes, and as soon as I had the invite email for the ARC, I had jumped on board. Hopeless. I Am Hopeless. And yet? No regrets.
Rhys MacAskill was aptly named, you guys. You ask too many questions to this sexy, gruff hero, and he goes straight for the kill. You can basically sum up Rhys in three words: Scottish. Sexy. Wounded. Rhys, after being in an accident that lost him his brother, is wary of company—and for all the female company he has in the world, it includes them only getting off. And you’d think that he’s the typical silent-type hero with a heart of gold, and you’d be right, but damn it all to hell, because you’d be kind of wrong too. Rhys MacAskill was flawed, you guys. Too many times in the book, I found myself wondering why exactly he was the way he was, and if his stupid, stubborn behaviour would ever change. Spoiler: He got better. Kind of.
My first impression of Auden Woods was not very favourable. And that kind of stuck with me throughout the book, which is stupid, I know, but there it is. I couldn’t shake the fact that she was a bit of a whiner and a melodramatic type of person—both of which are things I hate to see in people. Here was a girl willing to risk her life for the sake of what? Proving a point? Feeding her pride? I didn’t quite get it. I failed to see any growth in Auden from the beginning to the end, and to me, at least, the book was more Rhys than Auden.
Auden and Rhys together, however, were a firecracker. Sexual tension aside, these two were the personification of insta-love and even though they knew that their feelings for each other were much too fast, it didn’t stop them from falling completely and absolutely. Now, I don’t know what to make of that, honestly, but I can say that I was pretty glad to see the two of them together. They had this spark that was obvious to me and even though there was copious amount of lovemaking, there was also talking. And that made me really, really happy!
With Every Breath is a breath of fresh air in the monotony that New Adult fiction can be. It’s not only about discovering love and sex, (though it is that too) but at its core it really is more about discovering yourself. Forgiving yourself. And hopefully, finding yourself again. Both Auden and Rhys were lost in ways I can’t give away because spoilers. But their meeting, their finding each other, and their staying together, that was essential to each of them individually, seeing where they were at the beginning of the book. We’re talking about two fundamentally messed up people, who are so, so flawed, so tired, and then we’re seeing them taking strength from each other without tearing the other apart. And that, I thought, was the most beautiful part of the book. That is what you should be reading the book for. For all the faults in it, the principle of two people being good for each other and helping and raising each other up is what you should come to this book for and stay.

This "argument” that I had with myself did not even last for ten minutes, and as soon as I had the invite email for the ARC, I had jumped on board. Hopeless. I Am Hopeless. And yet? No regrets.
Rhys MacAskill was aptly named, you guys. You ask too many questions to this sexy, gruff hero, and he goes straight for the kill. You can basically sum up Rhys in three words: Scottish. Sexy. Wounded. Rhys, after being in an accident that lost him his brother, is wary of company—and for all the female company he has in the world, it includes them only getting off. And you’d think that he’s the typical silent-type hero with a heart of gold, and you’d be right, but damn it all to hell, because you’d be kind of wrong too. Rhys MacAskill was flawed, you guys.
