Murder on a Blind Date by Steve Demaree.

Cy and Lou are two retired police officers from the homicide division. Retired, that is unless they are needed in an unofficial murder investigation. In this case it involves murdered victims that used the Just for You dating service. One of these victims almost included Lou. fortunately enough for whatever reason Lou was not murdered but was left with two other victims that were

The best part of this book was the investigation by Cy and Lou which they narrowed down in a totally professional manner. Professional except for one major detail. Lou has been receiving a message from God regarding each case they have been investigating together. Cy has been able to use Lou's clues (no pun intended) to solve each case.

This series is based on the lifelong camaraderie of two detectives who have grown up together. Lifelong pals with behaviorisms that stayed with them long after their childhood had ended. That's what I believe sets this series apart from other cozies. That is also what accounts for the at times overdone slapstick between the two.

Steve Demaree has come a long way in his writing. Murder on a Blind Date is probably the best one in the series so far. When a relative of a friend of a friend goes missing after a blind date, Cy is asked to look into it. He discovers the missing man isn't the only one who has met with a questionable end after using this dating service. Then Lou is kidnapped.

The humor isn't quite as forced and the dialog has improved. One odd bit is that the author never uses "he said" or "she said." Instead, he uses the characters' names in the dialog which distinguishes who is talking but it isn't the way people speak which disrupts the flow of the conversation.

The ending is a bit convoluted and some of the explanation doesn't quite ring true, but overall this is a decent book.

Murder on a blind date

I really enjoy reading about Cy's and Lou's adventures. They are so humorous. Steve Demeter has a sense of humor. This particular mystery is about a dating service whereby clients are being murdered by being injected with poison. Cy has to go on three dates to find out who the murderer was. Unfortunately before these dates, his partner of thirty years has been kidnapped. How could Lou be connected with the dating service and why would someone kidnap him? Clean home some read

Another wonderful cozy mystery

This is another wonderful cozy mystery written by one of my favorite author's. It is humorous, but not as funny as the other books of his that I have read. I love his humor that is kind of off the wall at times. I like how he and Lou get along so well. I also like how he doesn't do anything until he has his devotional. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading a good clean cozy mystery.

Great Mystery

I'm a fan on Mr. Demaree and his Dekker series. I like series as I find it tough to leave a character behind after reading a good book. Each book is different with complicated characters.
I like that his main characters are Bible reading, praying, church-going men. Nothing in the book to be embarrassed by.
Looking forward to book 10.

A blind date couldn’t tell anyone about it, till you knew if it was a red card or a green card. Then he is missing for a week. They ask .Cy and Lou for help. The duo didn’t realize it would involve dating, and one being kidnapped. Along with a good plot and many humorous moments, Another good plot, as we enjoy how they find the culprit . Well done.

Entertaining book!

This mystery was fun to read. The characters were well developed, and the story contained lots of humor. I have read several Cy Dekker mysteries and have never been disappointed in a single one, and this mystery is no exception. I highly recommend this book to other cozy mystery readers.

I really like the two main characters: Lou and Cy. It is most comical the way Lou gets his clues from God!

This was a cliffhanger to the end! Every suspect I thought did it wasn't the murderer. Great use of red herrings, Steve! Looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

I have to confess to being a huge Steve Demaree fan - if you've seen some of my previous reviews, you might already be aware of this. I have yet to read one of his books that I didn't enjoy - although some are better than others. Murder on a Blind Date is one of the better ones. Demaree returns to the humour of earlier books. The plot is enjoyable and the characters, as always, are well-written. This is a genuine cosy mystery - no sex, no violence and no profanity - so I can settle down and enjoy the story without concern. The relationships between various characters continue to develop and the story moves at a good pace. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a cosy mystery.

Another good mystery from this author. This is the first time I ever guessed it, only because of a scene earlier in the story with interaction with a secondary character. Still a good book, good clean mystery with a lot of chuckles all along.
