Raramente ci sta. Ma la maggior parte delle volte è solo buttato lì a caso.

Va beh, passiamo oltre!

This concludes the starting with a kiss yaoi romance series set around the heirs of a Yakuza syndicate. Tohru's cousin Asato sets him up to be raped by a gang of subsidiary Yakuza in the hope to discredit his rival. Luckily Mutsumi arrives in the nick of time to rescue him. The majority of the rest of the plot deals with the future of the syndicate and just who will lead it and we get quite a few revelations in this one. Other than trying to get my head around exactly what the family relationship is between our lovers Tohru and Mustsumi (If Mutsumi's father is Tohru's grandfather doesn't that make them half-uncle/nephew?) Argh my head hurts! We do have a fair bit of incest in this one in general - Mutsumi's 'real' father's mistress was his own daughter (so that make his mother also his sister) and then he's in love with his nephew... The two fathers were lovers (and i think half brothers) and lets not forget Asato with his love hate obsession with his cousin Tohru - the scenes where he fantasises about having sex with him... not disturbing at all (much!)

Other than all the super-complicated family relationships, the rest of this is pretty good. Whatever their blood ties, Mutsumi & Tohru really feel like they belong together and have a connection much deeper than sex, you feel like they support each other and make each other better people. I also love the artwork - older and more confident Tohru is beautiful!

Great art, lots of hot man loving, a complex plot, emotional build you could do a lot worse.

Trigger warnings for gang violence, explicit sexual contact.

This was okay for what it was. I am glad that I read what's available on the series. It was definitely interesting to read something within the genre as it was out of my comfort zone. I think if you are interested pick it up. This however is not one that you can really recommend due to the subject matter and content. If you're interested give this a try.

I got gifted this 3rd volume (and had a really hard time tracking down some of the previous chapters).

I quite liked this: the art is great (if you're into the yaoi erotica, there is some (blurred) action going on that shouldn't disappoint); there's an interesting story with drama and twists I wouldn't have minded staying with longer, because Yakuza underworld makes for many interesting schemes and characters.

Look, this series is genre trash and you have to accept that going in, but the ending is deeply, deeply satisfying.

Starting with a Kiss 3 concludes the series, providing quite a punch in several very interesting plot twists and reveals. Although the ending is somewhat open, hinting at quite a few changes for Mutsumi and Toru in the future, all the machinations throughout the last chapters that lead to that ending make for a very satisfying read.

Story: With tantalizing clues that Mutsumi's paternity may be far more complicated than realized, Toru begins to make his own plans as well. Both realize they cannot (and perhaps do not want to) be the head of the Suki organization. But at the same time, Asato's desire to trump Toru is becoming problematic to the point of injurious to Toru. Mutsumi, with the help of Domouto, sets an intricate plan in place to create a feature for the two; but can he and Toru truly outsmart the entire Suki organization?

The plot is intricately woven in this third volume - I couldn't help but be surprised with where author Nitta took the story. Yes, it is as salacious as the previous volumes but it is also backed up by quite a story. Reading this volume took much longer than most in this genre just because there was so much going on in the background. Fortunately, at the same time, there weren't any deus ex machina in order to create a happy ending. Nor did Nitta allow the story to get bogged down by the politics.

Starting With a Kiss was a solid read and perfectly paced at three volumes. There's enough of an open ending to leave one wondering but at the same time entirely satisfied with how the story got to that point. Any more would have dragged the story unnecessarily and any less would have been frustrating. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.

The stakes are high, the sex is hot and the threat of all-out gang warfare lies around every corner. The proliferation of all the various mobs and the intricacies of dealing with physical violence, real or implied, mingled with legitimate and illegitimate business—it all makes for confusing reading. At times, I wasn’t sure what gang was doing what or why. The Byzantine nature of yakuza business is truly baffling; it’s like reading about court intrigue during the reigns of European kings.

Mix that in with talk of succession and heirs and the analogy becomes even more pointed. It doesn’t make it any easier when family bloodlines are all tangled up so that people may actually be having incest—whether both parties know it or not.

Ms. Nitta doesn’t stint on her characters’s interior lives. Everyone is guessing what the other person is thinking and their psychoanalysis, no matter how brief, is often on the money. It gives some of the main characters a depth you might not be expecting.

The aspect of mixing business with pleasure is not for the squeamish. When two men are exchanging business talk while engaging in heated sex, you don’t know whether to be aroused or appalled. But that’s the beauty of Ms. Nitta’s creations—layered writing, sex mingled with commerce, politics, family birthrights and brutal character insights. It makes for messy relationships but such is life.

For people wanting more straightforward romance, they might want to go elsewhere. But if you don’t mind incest, guns, business machinations, rape mixed in with handsome, hot, naked boys having raw, down-and-dirty sex, then look no further.

I'm so glad this manga had a happy ending. I was worried for a while that Tohru would not find happiness. Thank you Youka for a happy ending!
