Bill Myers was born into a Christian home, and although as a child he became bored with Christianity, he decided at the University of Washington quote, to "make God my boss." Ironically, at the University his worst subject was writing. He claims to have prayed, and said that he would be able to do anything for God, except write. Even so, he has become a prominent Christian writer, and has a large amount of successful books and films to his credit.

Soul Tracker by Bill Myers is one of the best books I have ever read. Seriously!
It has all the components I enjoy:

It is a suspense/thriller, without much gore. It had me rushing through the pages to find out what was going to happen next.

It is a romance without excessive sex and language. There is a romance between two of the main characters AND a romance between many of the characters and Christ.

It is a Christian book that allows the reader to see Christ and how He woos us and loves us. Better than many of the self help books I have read!

It gives a very clear picture of Heaven and Hell.

It is written so well. At no point did I feel I couldn’t understand what Bill Myers wanted me to hear. One of my pet peeves is reading a sentence, page or chapter and having to stop and meditate in an attempt understand what was written.
Bill Myer is able to put into words how difficult it is for an author to articulate a feeling or idea.

LOVE IT!! I am starting on the sequel right now.

Soul Tracker by Bill Myers is an amazing read.
Bill Myers introduces us to David, a father who has recently lost his daughter, Emily. He receives a text and other contact from Emily leading him to look for a way to communicate with her on the other side.
He finds Gita, a doctor who debunks after death claims and together they search for the truth behind Emily’s contact.
This book was so good! It is a suspense that had me rushing through the pages to find out what was going to happen next.
There’s romance, friendship, suspense and Christianity all in one book!
I loved reading it and am starting on the sequel right now.

It was not a light and fluffy read but a heavy read tinged with reality . Bill Myers is one of those people who has a realistic imagination. This book Is hard core chistainity . Not for the faint of heart .

Bill myers is an incredibly talented story teller and is the best narrator/actor (except for his little girl voice) I've ever heard . He tells the story he wrote with beautiful story telling /orating phyness !

As I said this is not a light read . It is intense --gory at times...merciless at times and above all that christian theme of forgiven by faith not by merit or good deeds .

I liked this book and its sequel much more than ELI . there was never a dull moment. Like I said myers s incredibly creative and imaginative but with an air of hard reality --the reality of rubbing it in that there's no other way than Jesus to be saved

(note one thing I do not like about Bill Myers is that in his fanatical zeal he sometimes vilifies other major world religions (like hinduism)by giving a grossly distorted view of their beliefs . I don't read christian books to hear about how other religions are evil but to hear about how christianity is good)

I loved this book. I recently finished The God Hater. I just finished this one and can't believe it took me so long to read a Bill Myers book.

David's teenage daughter is dead. He wants to know where she is and if she is ok. This leads him to Dr. Patekar who works for an organization that tracks the soul once it leaves the body.

This is just the start of a very well written supernatural thriller that is right up my alley. This book had mystery, killers and computers that can see the souls and where they go, or can it?

A good thriller that's a bit of a freaky read which I love. Also, there's no doubt about God in this book. No light sayings like, God help me. That does not make you right with God. Some people may be put off by the religious message in this book. But it's real and sincere. Jesus is the way and it's all or nothing for God.

I think I'm ready to start another of his books.

I honestly didn't think I would enjoy this book as much as I did and am excited to learn that there are 2 more in this series.
I liked how authentic the conversations were, giving me ideas on what to respond to people questioning God, as David did.
But mostly, the fact at how frustrated I was with David's actions, reactions, thoughts and words - the author created a realistic character. I caught myself reminding myself it was not real - But how many people like this do we know?
As bad as this may sound, I was happy the author left Gita dead - this too made the story more realistic and was the perfect way to end their traumatic adventure.
Now on to book 2!

David Kauffman's daughter has died of a reported suicide while in the care of a treatment center where he had forced her to go. His guilt leads him to question what might be waiting for her after death, and he seeks out an organization that has been scientifically recording the experiences of souls once they leave the body. His questions draw the attention of another part of the same company working on life extension, for those who can afford it.
A Christian thriller that started on a heavy note based on subject matter concerning depression and suicide, but was fast paced.

This book will stick with me for a long time. Lots of Biblical truths confronted me. Because He loved me, how much am I willing to love? Totally empathized with the main characters ... Their inmost thoughts and fears were laid bare. And just like the ending we know awaits us, that is what they experienced!

Chilling! Biblically sound until the end when there was an eyebrow raising on my part. Unbridled, unmitigated evil not so far fetched as to be irrelevant to today's world.

Interesting book with lots action and a decent story which moved quickly. Sometimes I felt that the story line was disjointed but would refocus and get back track.

My brief thoughts: I really enjoyed this! The writing is not spectacular (it's not bad, it's just a little simple), but the pacing is good, the plot is interesting, and the characters are relatable and engaging. I read this book quickly, and I am definitely looking forward to the 2nd and 3rd in the series!

Here's Amazon's synopsis (it's better than what I would write at this point :)):

it took a bit to get into, but it was worth it. Bill Meyers uses techno/science fiction to weave the message and truth of God's love into his story. Some great quotes in this book. The following were some of my favourites:

"... religion, rules, and regulations, they're a hundred times easier to follow than God's love. Nice and neat, no mess. No risks... and no real need to listen to His heart. p. 190

... Christ didn't come to condemn the lost, but to save them. p. 190

As far as I know, the only ones He ever condemned were the religious folks who claimed to be so righteous. p. 190

My point is this-real Christianity is both grace and truth. It's like that sign up there. She motioned to the placard above the door that read, "Jesus Saves." That sign is truth, but it just sits there. It can't come down off the wall and love people like you and I can. It can't even save them. It's pure truth, but it's pure useless-like most Christians I know. They got truth all neatly wrapped and preserved, but they're afraid of getting it dirty-they're afraid to come down off the wall and soil their hands. p. 191

I'm just saying that real love is messy. So messy that it could get you killed-especially by truth keepers. Just ask Jesus. " p. 191

How to do this with out ruining the story?

This is a fast paced action story with a good message of redemption and excellent insites into what happens after we die.

A warning about the plot. The back cover makes it sound like a supernatural thriller. But it is really more of a story about the things that evil people will do and the lives that they are willing to destroy in order to get what they want.

You won't find any epic battles with Christian sending demons into black holes but you will find plenty of ordanary people using prayer, hard work and street smarts to undermind and bring down the wicked men who think that they can rule our world.

It wasn't EXACTLY what I expected after reading The Voice but it was an overall okay read. The action wasn't as intense and the plot felt bloated in the middle. The ending threw me a bit as well. I wasn't thrilled by it but, hey, Myers does have artistic license to do as he pleases. This isn't a book that I'd read again and again. On the positive side, the message of the story was great! Thought provoking as was The Voice. Bill, I'm sorry for being a bit critical. I love your writing so maybe the next book will be more my speed. :)

Not my favorite Bill Myers book. Had a great moral to it but was so over the top. David's daughter has committed sucide and he needs to contact her and know that she is safe. Suddenly he starts receiving messages from her and then a local corporation gives him the opportunity to contact her. But is it really her or is the whole thing a hoax and why would this corporation create this hoax. The ending was somewhat surprising as it did not end quite as expected.

this was not what i expected. it started out promising as a sci-fi novel but just became boring at the end. at first, i enjoyed the religious angle but tired of it after it came to dominate the storyline. i hate to say this, but for fun christian reading, i liked the Left Behind books much better.

A decent Dan Brown-style thriller unfortunately stained by lots of pseudo-philosophical religious bullshit. Could have been a good book had the religious bits been left out, and the main story given some more actual depth. The "mystery" is fully resolved pretty much half way in, and the rest is "spiritual" babbling.

Very good book. I love Bill Myers writing. In this one he gave a fantastic illustration of why we are not to try to communicate with the dead ... because we can't. If we think we are, then we are being fooled and it is very dangerous.

How interesting it would be to see our true self with all our hues. But more how Awesome to physically see God working in our lives. Also, a reminder that demons are real, dangerous and are around us everyday. We should NOT leave ourselves open to EVIL!

VERY well written, but too dark for my taste. I love that it's not afraid of truth, even if it IS dark. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who likes dark thrillers.

Story that questions IF we are able to communicate with those who are dead and, if so, SHOULD we. Definitely held your interest.
