Video game designer Annie Long decides if she can't find the perfect man, she'll create him. Available on interactive DVD, Joe Video is the ideal boyfriend for the modern woman. But soon Matt, Annie's ex and boss, is proving himself to be more perfect than Joe Video ever could be.
Definitely don't look for anything more than fluff out of this book. It's heavily dated- both in technology references and stereotypical jokes based on caricatures of Latinos, gay men, and feminists.
This is my second Candy Halliday book and this one made me laugh as much as the first one. She has a humorous writing style that is entertaining and keeps you moving through the story. Some of the storyline seemed a little off to me--the "Joe Video" game? I'm not really sure about how it would work out to be a real-life video game, but it could work out as some other type of concept. Letting that go, I enjoyed most of the characters--Annie and Matt were both likable characters and I really wanted them to get their happy ending. Collin had some humorous scenes. I liked Rico and Helena the least. The Rico character started out on the right foot, but seemed to fizzle a bit for me. With all that being said, I still really enjoyed this book. It was a fast read that kept me laughing. I will be reading more by Candy Halliday.
bad. bad bad bad. The characters are stale, the erotic scenes are turgid, and I don't mean that in a good way. The "Joe Video" premise was promising but never took off. This book could have used some STDs or something. Sigh.
I liked this book. You will like it too it you want a quick read. It was very predictable. Girl doesn't like guy, girl ends up with guy in the end. But it's very cute.
Loved it! I haven't read a contemporary romance in a while, and certainly not a contemporary chick-lit type. This one was definitely a winner. At first, I thought, "Ugh, video games. So not my style," but it wasn't ABOUT video games. Duh. I should have known that romances are always about the romance! I fell in love with the characters as they fell in love with each other, and I thoroughly enjoyed the modern spins on everything from descriptions to point of view to dialogue. Great, fun read!
