3.5-4 STARS!!
“Twisted” is book2 in “Broken” series and picks up where book1, “Broken” ended. Emily is angry with Jai for what he did (in the previous book). She feels Jai betrayed her in some way. She still struggles to accept her live had changed, but she knows she can’t fight and/or kill. She is a fighter, but not that kind of fighter what that monster, Skull expects.
Jai knows Emily is still angry and maybe she hates his guts, but he did what he thought is necessary to keep her save. She’s his responsibility now, because after all he complicated her life, so is his duty to protect her. He knows she’s not stupid and eventually she will realize she needs him as much as he needs her.
Even if he knows this strange underground world is dangerous, Jai is determined find his brother.
Even if they spent some time together and they started to know each other, Emily and Jai don’t trust each other. On top of that, everything gets complicated with Skull.
I really liked this installment. More than the first. It was more intense and more intriguing and left me wanting more. The plot was great and both main characters were likeable. Emily was a little annoying at times, not too much, but still...Jai was way better. We get to find out more about his past and who he really is and what he really wants. He’s strong and brave and I loved his determination. He wants justice and he wants the truth no matter what. With Emily once again he’s protective. Emily is very sensitive, but at the same time she’s strong. They have great chemistry and I liked them together
There are some interesting twists and turns that made the story more engaging and I have to admit I didn’t expect that ending. Huh..!
Overall, a great installment and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

It doesn't matter who my opponent is, I always win, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.
Loved loved how this book took up right where book #1 ended so there's no back tracking trying to remember..
Does a kitten have what it takes to become a lion
Loved the trepidation of what's to come, the back ground on Jai which we weren't partial to in the previous book..
The drive to take down skull, Jai's job had the shock factor, even I did not see that one coming..
Loved the angst, the unique grittiness of the story, the no holds bar within the illegal under ground cage fighting to the point of death..
REVENGE
I murdered four men in cold blood just to make it here, to prove I'm not on the straight and narrow, in the hopes to win the trust of skull and his thugs.
ESCAPE
I've just recently been introduced to this author via a recommendation on here and all I can say is how fast I fell under her spell and became a fan, the dark, gritty, rawness of her stories pulls me in each and every time..

5 "phenomenaly suspensful" stars
Jai and Emily's story continues in a gripping underground fight for their lives...

The second book in Broken series continues right where the first book ended – Emily (aka Kitten) is pulled further into the merciless underground fighters circle and is trying to find the way to survive from one round to another, using her wit and brains instead of muscles (and I really admire her for that) which makes her seem treacherous and a double-dealing spy BUT she manages to stay clear in her head no matter how high emotion bring her turmoil unease and anxiety.
Situations and interactions with Jai are full of whiplashes and angst and undeniable attraction, although they are both aware that there something beyond pure lust growing but they have a hard time building trust towards each other. It’s not easy to give in and let go when all the players have their own agenda and they are not giving their cards away.
After everything we've been through, after everything we've done, she doesn't need me? I take in her clothes - clothes I put on her back - and that's not all I've done. I put money in her pocket. I saved her fucking life! Twice. And she has the balls to say she doesn't need me?
"You ungrateful little -" I grip her face and crush my mouth to hers, pouring all of my frustration into it - into her.
Yes, he needs her and she needs him. No matter what she says...
We learn more about Jai, his past and what drives him to perform this insane charade in dealing with life and death fights and he becomes more and more flesh and blood rather than just steel muscle. Emily is under his skin and he acknowledges that which makes his “job” harder in keeping them both alive!
"I need her to give me a sense of normalcy - to stop me from going crazy, to keep me out of my won head."
There’s a higher motive and plan that drives Jai to act upon and Emily just happened to be his salvation, his means to do it...like the drug he can’t resist and could not and would not get out of his system. He gives in…and she’s more intoxicated with him…and they dwell with the emotions as best they can in not so ideal circumstances or surroundings…
and the passion is there...
Just to make things even more complicated - the highest crime circle in this underground organization has its own plans with marking the best fighters and Emily and Jai happened to caught the eye of the “devil” himself, the man who runs everything, the man who knows everything the evil incarnated called Skull.
And he wants more from Emily…
But Jai has a master plan too and he’s now, more than ever, ready to act… but not without the consequences….
Skyla Madi is an author I came across very recently, actually my first contact with her work was the first book Broken (in Broken series) and I was instantly hooked, on her writing style, the way she presents the story, the way she describes the characters without using the direct description she rather leads us through story telling and we are not even aware that we are already woven into it along with the characters following their tracks and actions.
I can’t wait for the final installment to see the outcome for Jai and Emily…

If you loved Jai in book one then you will absolutely crave for him in this book. I couldn’t get enough Jai-or Emily for that matter.
This addition will leave you wondering what could be next. You never know where these characters will lead you. It’s terrifying yet exciting. Its mysterious and sexy and filled with secrets that will have you flipping pages until the very end.

So intense! I was holding my breath the whole time I was reading! If they don't get out of this shit situation soon I'm going to lose my mind! I'm really enjoying these books! In this book Jai and Em come up with a plan. They need to find a way out of the underground fighting world! But Skull wants Emily, and Jai's not about to let that happen!

Emily is still angry with Jai. However she still needs his protection. It takes her a while to realise this. Jai feels for Emily as he knows, he is the reason, she is in the underground. Skull has set his eyes on Emily. He is using her to get information of Jai. Jai should be happy about this, as this is what he wanted. He is waiting for Skull to slip up. He is still looking for his brother and needs as much information as follows. Skull knows more than he is letting on. What Jai did not bank on was his feelings for Emily and when Skull crosses a line, all hell breaks loose. Can Emily and Jai survive to see another day? Is Skull more powerful than they anticipated? I enjoyed this book as you really start to see the connection between Emily and Jai. A few interesting twists and turns and overall all a enjoyable read

I must say I enjoy this series so much! It might be relatively short, but so many things happens and I can't get enough of these characters !!

This book gets right to part where book 1 left it. Emily & Jai are still fighting for their lives.
Jai is a fighter, he has no fear , he knows he can take down whoever he needs to, he came to find his brother and will fight anyone that gets in his way.
Emily is a fighter but not in the physical sense, she is clever and is trying to use that to her advantage, she is fully aware she is nver going to get out of this situation easily. Skull is the scariest thing she has ever dealt with but she is trying not to show her fear, he has taking a liking to Emily, he seems to find her no matter how many people are around !
Emily and Jai's relationship is starting to grow, but they are so unsure of who they can trust. Jai is there to fight for his family and will do whatever it takes, does that mean using Emily? Emily has no family and is trying to deny the connection between her and Jai, she has never had anyone care for her before and is unsure if he is genuine, why would he care for her?
Jai tried his hardest to keep Emily aka "kitten" out of his system but he is fighting a loosing battle with that, she has got to him but this is putting them both in danger, he needs to keep his wit about him if he going to save them all.
Skull wants Emily and Jai is not going to let that happen, they need to come up with an escape plan if they are going to survive !

Skyla Madi proved once again what an amazing and talented author she is!! I absolutely loved this book just like I knew I would!
I am a huge fan of Skyla's work and this book didn't disappoint. It was totally not what I was expecting but in a good way.
Everything was very greatly written, I didn't feel the story dragged on at all. I wanted each of those details. It's a different read than what I expected. Her writing style is dark romance, but with this story, it alters it all with its darkest twists.
This book kept me up all night...and I've read it in one sitting...I gluped it, and that's Skyla Madi writing, for ya. Fuck it all to hell, I want more!!!!

Skyla Madi proved once again what an amazing and talented author she is!! I absolutely loved this book just like I knew I would!
I am a huge fan of Skyla's work and this book didn't disappoint. It was totally not what I was expecting but in a good way.
Everything was very greatly written, I didn't feel the story dragged on at all. I wanted each of those details. It's a different read than what I expected. Her writing style is dark romance, but with this story, it alters it all with its darkest twists.
This book kept me up all night...and I've read it in one sitting...I gluped it, and that's Skyla Madi writing, for ya. Fuck it all to hell, I want more!!!!

This is the second book in this series and they must be read in order. This book picks up about a week after the first one ends. Emily is still dealing with what Jai did to help her win her first round. Skull wants her to tell him about anything strange Jai does. Emily learns about what happened to Jai’s family and why he is doing what he is doing. Jai is becoming confused. Emily is getting under his skin and now he has split focus between keeping Emily safe and continuing on what he had planned. I am intrigued and can’t wait to see where to story goes. This book isn’t very long, about 160 pages. Emily continues to grow and really come into herself and the book goes. Lots of secrets are revealed and the ending is a surprise. I look forward to reading the next book and I already have it ready and waiting for me.

The underworld is a dark and deadly place, every has their own motives and everyone is trying to survive. Win or die is the harsh reality that Emily and Jai face. Can they beat the competition, stay ahead of Skull and his goons to secure their freedom?
The second instalment in this series is as fast paced as the first. Jai is even more captivating as he reveals more about himself to his Kitten. Her feisty side starts to come out to play and their connection deepens. Skull is a man to be feared and he continues to play with them, toying with his prey. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to see where the next one takes us!

The intrigue and suspense continue in Sin & Secrets, the second book in the New York Crime Kings series. I'm normally not a fan of Cliffhangers but this series is very well written. It's fast-paced and sucks you in. THe twists and turns are breathtaking. Sin & Secrets keeps you on the edge of you seat, rooting for Jai and Emily. Deadly secrets are revealed and you don't know who to trust. Sin & Secrets is also quite funny, with the humor helping to break up the tension. I found myself laughing out loud at times while gasping and biting my nails.

This book kicked up in the drama department from book one. I was captivated, wanted to see if they would get out of the messy situation they were in with Skull. In this book you see more development between Emily and Jai. It helps build a greater connection to them. I cannot wait to read book three. I'm captivated by this series.

Lawd these books are 🔥🔥🔥 between the intense seedy underworld and the steamy tension between Jai and Emily I was damn near breathless. Skyla Madi knows how to keep you on the absolute edge of your seat, I FLEW through this book and I still don't think my heart rate has returned to normal.

This second book is better. We are still in the fight ring. Jai and Emily are still trying to get information on Jai's brother. Emily is now working for Skull, not that he gave her much of a choice.

Page turner, I couldn’t put it down.
Jai and Emily are drawn into Skull’s world of violence, with no way out except to survive. This underworld Madi has created is so believable that it’s scary, but you have to keep reading.
