The Sweet Cheyenne Quartet #4

A Cheyenne Christmas Homecoming

Rate this book
Cheyenne, Wyoming Territory
Christmas, 1883

Since being made a full partner in his brother's ranch, Nate Barker has grown into a savvy businessman, despite the savage taint of his Indian blood. But that success hasn’t eased the emptiness he’s felt since his best friend and childhood sweetheart Wendy left him to follow her dreams of becoming an author. It’s been almost four years since he last saw her, and he hasn’t been able to move on with his life. Now he’s determined to follow Wendy to St. Louis, and figure out if she ever loved him the way he loved—and still loves—her.

Wendy Murray thinks she knows all about True Love; after all, she's a successful romance novelist. But life in the big city is more complicated than she expected, and now she has a terrible secret… A secret that’s kept her from going home to Nate. But when he shows up on her doorstep only a few days before Christmas, she knows that she can’t hide any longer.

She might know all there is to know about writing romances, but Nate is determined to teach Wendy that “Happily Ever After” isn’t just a phrase out of one of her books. Things can never go back to the way they were… but with a little magic of the Christmas season, maybe they can be even better.

Good story but not enough personal interaction

While the romance scenes were quite good, the book dragged on and on. Most of the book is told in letters written from the h to the H. The amount of actual conversation between them could fit in just 1 chapters.

However, you could feel the love the H felt for the h in every page. I have never felt so connected to the male character. I usually tend to empathize with the female and find some facet of the H's personality that makes me want to slap him. But I genuinely found no fault with him.

There was a little bit of mystery on the h's part but it was very easy for me to figure out. It might be more difficult for others. Overall I liked the book but had to skim past many tedious letters and endless paragraphs of the characters' personal reflections.

This Christmas historical romance was, to me, a disappointment when compared with the other two I read in the series. It was another I picked up for free, and I'm glad that I didn't buy it. It was a sequel to Cheyenne Christmas, and had the same characters, but focused in on two who were really just children in the first book and have now grown up. Minor spoiler alerts ahead. First, I thought it didn't make sense and was rather disappointing that Nate, while supposedly pining for Wendy, made use of a prostitute, and that one of these visits constituted an early scene in the book. Then, Wendy was quite an annoying character, especially as we were given her letters to read, and she seemed just so full of herself. I wasn't really rooting for the couple to get together. Also, I didn't buy that she would have stayed away from her family for so long when she found her dreams out of reach.

I thoroughly enjoyed Wendy and Nate's love story. He is determined to find out why she stopped writing to him and travels to St. Louis to find out why. For this period of time, he's very forgiving when he finds out. Loved the ending. Happy reading!

This was a historical romance that made more sense because I had read the first two in the series. Although I think it could be read as a stand-alone, I enjoyed knowing the characters and what had occurred in their lives prior to this novel. The historical aspects explained in the author’s note added to the story. I do feel that the novel was in need of another proofread. It was satisfying to read about Nate and Wendy’s relationship and how things turned out for them. I appreciated that the characters were more complex than others in the series; however, many of their thoughts and feelings became quite repetitive throughout the novel. I would recommend this novel, though I would caution readers that there are some intimate and sensitive subjects explored, though not in much detail.

A Cheyenne Christmas Homecoming

I enjoyed this story Nate is determined to take Wendy home to Cheyenne from St Louis for Christmas with her family but she is hiding a secret that she thinks Nate may hate her for. Nate has loved her for a long time and hopes to make her realise that she is all he wants but there are a few problems along the way and we meet some unsavory characters we catch up with the other hero's and heroines from the previous books of this series it's a really good read and I would love Annie to get her story.

My favorite hero ever!

This was such a wonderful story. I was anxious to get to this last in the series. It didn't disappoint! Nate just makes you want to hug him and ease his pain. I guess her does attract older women's sympathies. Wendy's secret has her locked in shame and the struggle to set their love free was such a compelling journey. I couldn't stop reading. Loved all this series.

A Cheyenne Christmas Homecoming (The Sweet Cheyenne Quality Book 4)

The love story of Nate and Wendy. Wendy has been in St. Louis from the last two years. She started at the first high school and she did not like teaching 12 boys, now she is working for a wealthy snobbish uptight family taking of the youngest son who is deaf. Nate has come to St. Louis to bring Wendy home. Can he do it or will he stay with her? Great story.

A Cheyenne Christmas Homecoming.

This was such a good book. I loved the way she had run into Nate when first arriving. She thought he was the man she was suppose to meet. I liked how she traveled to St. Louis and the way she was teaching a deaf boy to learn to speak. There wasn't anything I didn't like about the book and recommend that everyone read it. It is a clean book.

Nate and Wendy
A good story, but not spectacular. It would have had a higher rating, but two things bothered me. One is that Nate visited a prostitute at the beginning. That made me like him less from the start. The other is that the Lord’s name was taken in vain quite often in the book.

I loved this!!!
I wasn't a fan of sulking Nate, but seeing this story, he finally going after Wendy, and understanding Wendy's mistakes and why each thought they weren't deserving but finding this way through the doubts was beautiful.

Sweet and short book with a rather slow plot development and mildly annoying female heroine who gets HEA at the end.

This was a really cute series. Nothing too serious except for the last book. I'll be looking for more books by Caroline Lee.

A cozy, clean Christmas romance. Perfect for a road trip or sitting in front of the fire while it snows outside.

I think there was depth to the characters. And I loved how the “drama” didn’t go on forever. There wasn’t a dumb moment of misunderstandings and jumping to conclusions when the “secret” was revealed. It was true love and understanding. And I very much liked that!

Beautiful

Sometimes you have to fight for what you love, even if the person you love thinks they are unworthy. Wendy and Nate are such wonderful loving characters.

Didn't like the first chapter, gratuitous sex scene and I don't feel it's a stand alone story. Characters feel like you should already know them. I'll try to read the first books in the series and see if they are any better (not holding my breath).

I really like this book, so much that I want to visit Cheyenne and St. Louis.
And they are beautiful places!!!

That is what makes a good book in my opinion, living through the characters and enjoying it so much that you want to visit the places that they "lived" in.

Great series, now is the turn of Annie!!!
Whoooohoooooo!!

Nice Story

This was a nice story, but the proofreader failed in a few spots. It halts the flow of the story to hit errors. To go back and read a passage a second time to make sense of things lessens the enjoyment. The baby's name is both May and Mae. Molly turns into Wendy minutes before Wendy joins Molly on the porch. Takes away from the story.

Great book

Love this book as much as the last one in the series. The story keeps you reading and praying for things to work out for the main characters. This story is about family and how love makes mistakes forgotten.

This is the final book in the Cheyenne quartet but can definitely be read as a standalone. Nate decides to travel to Saint Louis to find out why Wendy quit writing to him a year ago. When he finds her he discovers that she is very unhappy. This is a very sweet tale.

A Cheyenne Christmas Homecoming

Wonderful story. Such an insight to what happens in a wealthy family. Prejudice and misunderstanding. Couldn't put it down until I read every word. Can't wait to read the next one.
