Wiccan-Were-Bear #9

Awaken a Wolf

Rate this book
Book #9 in the Wiccan-Were-Bear series.

Natural Wiccan Cinder Knight has a pretty good life. She’s part of the largest coven in North America and has a great job at the Whalen Family Clinic. She has zero complaints, until she finds herself the recipient of unwanted attention from a certain alpha wolf.

Adam Beaumont hasn’t been the alpha of the Cleveland pack for long before he feels the pressure to take a mate. When he sees a beautiful Wiccan talking to one of his wolves, he knows exactly what to do to make her his. The only problem is that Cinder isn’t receptive to him at all. Everything he tries to do to make her his seems only to push her away, and neither he nor his wolf can accept the denial much longer.

Cinder discovers that she’s not truly a Wiccan, but something much more, and Adam is the only one who can help her. The infuriating alpha male manages to put the brakes on his desire to rush her into mating him because she needs him as she navigates the waters of her new destiny. When someone from her past threatens all they’ve built, will Cinder survive the full moon or will Adam find himself alone once more?

This book contains an alpha male used to getting what he wants, a Wiccan who doesn’t like her choices being taken from her, and enough magic to set the world on fire. Contains m/f interaction, new powers, old magic, shifting, a little wolfy voyeurism, and gratuitous uses of the word mine.

" You can not stop fate"
You will love this book oh course you will love all of R.E Butler books if you give them a try. The story line in this book is fantastic! The characters are amazing!. Once you read just one of R.E Butler books you will be hooked. This is a part of a series that is truly incredible!. Cinder Knight is part Wicca witch and part Werewolf who has not been able to shift. She works part time for her covens shop and part for the Whalen Family clinic which caters to supernaturals. Cinder is room mates/lover with a Weretiger Cyrus, and dates/lover to a Werewolf named Leo. Adam Beaumont is Leo's Alpha. Adam feels pressured to find a mate. After talking with his Father about mates Adam decides to go to a Club called Lykos. While there he spots Cinder with Leo, and knows right away she is meant to be his mate!. Oh course he orders Leo not to have sex with Cinder ever again plus to tell him all Leo knows about Cinder. Cinder does not know why Leo dropped her he will not even return her calls. While working at the Clinic Adam gets Doctor Whalen to introduce them this starts the mating bond . Only she has a date with Cyrus and takes off before they can leave Adams Men try to stop them this causes Cinder to get clawed by Cyrus. Cinder has an allergic reaction to the scratch and almost dies. the Doctor says its because she is turning to more wolf that she is changing , and wolves are allergic to a venom in a tigers claw. This is odd because she is past the age they usually shift. Cin fights the mating call and Adam tries to have patience with her. Only they find out what she is turning into is very rare she is becoming a Lygisa Which is coveted by all packs. Can Adam convince Cinder to finish the mating? Can he protect her from other packs? . There is lots of suspense, action, humor and steamy hot romance in this book!. This is truly a must read book!.

R.e. Butler never ceases to amaze me with her stories, she always manages to twist them so they are a little different, but in a wonderful way.

Cinder is a wiccan-wolf mix, but she has always been under the impression that she is more wiccan and will never shift.. Until she meets the arrogant and bossy Alpha, he makes her feel tingly in all the right places, but she is also feeling her wolf. She wants no part of it though, will she be able to resist his pull?

Adam is the Alpha of his pack and has no wish to mate, until he feels her. She has to feel the same that he does and he is going to make sure she becomes his mate before the full moon, no matter how he goes about it. He has never been denied by any female and this one will be no different, he has to have the feisty female that makes him feel things no other has before.

Get ready to feel the pull and enjoy the ride as these two battle for dominance. Lots of action magic and hot passion!

"There were only ten single females he wasn't related to in the pack, and they serviced all of the unmated males as well, more than forty now. It wasn't a pretty job, but the females knew what it meant to be a wolf, and in their culture, females were sex objects or they were mates. There was no in-between."

Yeah, I'm out.

DNF at 15 pages. I'm glad this was only $1, but I kind of want my $1 back.

More about possession than love... they say the words, but it totally comes across more as him controlling a valuable resource rather than being in love with her as a person. I'm not entirely sure he even views her as more than a combination blow up doll and magic wand.

Natural Wiccan Cinder Knight has no complaints about her life until she finds herself the recipient of alpha wolf, Adam Beaumont’s attention in this spellbinding paranormal romance.

Adam is feeling the pressure to take a mate so it’s a good thing he knows exactly how to make Cinder his and the reader can’t help but get drawn into the fireworks as Adam discovers that Cinder isn’t all that receptive to his demands. The chemistry between Cinder and Adam causes some intense heat flashes but this relationship starts off on the wrong paw which has emotions as well as sparks flying in every direction as Adam and his wolf discovers what it will take to win her over. Strong, charismatic characters are easily related to as they grab the reader’s attention and the fast paced, smooth flowing plot ensnares readers with lots of suspense, turmoil, excitement and passion.

Spine tingling tension builds as Cinder’s life takes a sudden turn and she finds that she is something more than Wiccan with adrenaline pumping excitement building as someone from Cinder’s past threatens her new found destiny and her life. The intriguing events keep readers glued to the pages as the well written scenes paint vivid images that make it easy for the reader to picture each and every detail of this spellbinding story.

I was completely caught up in Adam and Cinder’s story and compelled by both of their personalities as they struggled through their relationship, of course, I always find it to be a bit amusing when a sexy alpha male doesn’t immediately get his way and Cinder certainly gave him a run for his money which provided quite a few chuckles along the way.

The mc's Adam & Cinder, Adam an overbearing manipulative Alpha used to giving orders and getting his way. Cinder a half-breed Wiccan wolf mix, has a job she loves and friends she enjoys spending time with, none of which means anything to Adam. I enjoyed Cinders temporary refusal to bend to Adams' high-handed interference in her life using the mating heat to wear her down, it didn't last long enough for me. Can you tell Adam didn't impress me? Then the changes to Cinder began and the danger to her became apparent. Now was Adam's time to try and redeem himself in my eyes. I also liked the support characters, especially Adam's sister and Cinder's roommate. I look forward to reading more about them. This was a very enjoyable read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I LOVE THIS AUTHOR!!
Cinder and Adam were such a fun dynamic—grumpy wolf meets fiercely independent witch-who's-not-a-witch! I was giggling, blushing, and cheering the whole time. Their slow-burn tension, the shocking reveal of Cinder’s real power, and the emotional growth on both sides made this book one of my favorites. And Adam learning to not be an overbearing alpha? Character development, baby! The full moon showdown had me flipping pages like mad. So satisfying.

One word: lame! She sounds like a real b****, until she does a 180 degrees change and becomes the sweetest....yeah, right! The story could have been interesting, but the real facts lasted one chapter. The rest of the book was a bunch of nothing.

A monumental creation that transports the reader into the hypnotic world of shifters, sorcery, and demons. As the story unfolds the reader is compelled to form attachments to the fascinating characters portrayed in this book.

Adam Beaumont is the unmated alpha to the Cleveland Wolf Pack. The blue-eyed alpha has charisma, intelligence which certainly makes him worthy of the position, and is respected by all who know him. His dominant demeanor would have Captain America bowing and doing his bidding.

Adam always manages to get his own way until he meets Cinder Knight, a hybrid-half-Wiccan/half wolf green-eyed, golden haired, independent beauty. Adam knows she's his mate. Only problem is, he enters her life as fullback ready to tackle her. Cinder's Wiccan half wants no part of it. She doesn't appreciate his assertive attitude. Her wolf half recognizes her mate and wants to come out and play but Cinder insists on keeping her hidden. Cinder's body is going through painful changes; her wolf is on the rise, the mating pull is driving her nuts, and also surfacing is a magical power that is so special it can only be completed during a ceremony the night of the full moon. Unfortunately, this power puts Cinder in danger until the full moon. Adam must put aside his personal feelings and convince Cinder he can help and protect her.

With skill the author vividly describes the emotional conflict between Adam and Cinder, life threatening incidents, passion, magic, pack family life, fear, rage, seduction and how Adam manages to keep his cool when a dark evil attempts to destroy everything he loves.

This was a unique and imaginative story. I loved this book and highly recommend it as it is more than an incredible read. A STORY THAT WILL LEAVE YOU SPELLBOUND!!

Probably my least favourite in this series. Whilst there is a lot I enjoyed in this book, mainly the second half, there was two things that I didn’t. Also Adam is another of Elizabeth’s discarded lovers.
Cinder has a stupid, stubborn streak and would cut off her nose to spite her face.
Adam does everything wrong in trying to get Cinder to accept they are mates by acting like a controlling jerk.
Nearly threw my kindle away reading the drivel in chapter two about the pack mentality and treatment of their females being nothing more than sex workers to service all the males or mates. I QUOTE- (It was part of par for being a wolf —the need to fuck and shift and hunt, to give into the primal urges that they kept under wraps the other days of the month. There were only ten single females he wasn’t related to in the pack, and they serviced all of the unmated males as well, more than forty now. It wasn’t a pretty job, but the females knew what it meant to be a wolf, and in their culture, females were sex objects or they were mates. There was no in-between.)
What rot. These women are future mates to someone and are treated like that. Not what I want in my reading, even if an explanation is attempted later in the book.
Also the fact Cinder has an obligatory TSTL moment, NOT telling Adam about her vision, so when it starts to come to pass, she has no one to help her. Yes apologies and recriminations all around but really.
Not keen when either party starts out with someone else as Cinder does here but she does have to deal with Adam being her mate who is another one of Elizabeth’s cast offs.
Really didn’t care and only finished this book to keep the series relevant.

RE Butler is my favorite go-to author. I have loved everyone of her books and her newest is no exception.

Cinder Knight is part Wiccan and part wolf. She actually considers herself mostly Wiccan as she can't shift and doesn't feel any connection to her wolf at all. Adam Beaumont is the wolf Alpha of the Cleveland Pack who is being pressured by his pack to find a mate.

Adam sees Cinder across the crowded room at Lycos, a shifter bar/dance club, and knows he wants to mark her and claim her forever. Cinder isn't so sure she wants him for a mate but is definitely sure she doesn't like his high-handed ways of getting into her life.

But it's hard for Cinder to fight against fate and she soon realizes how much Adam means to her and she agrees to a mating. While all this is going on, she notices she's changing...she can feel her wolf more and more and her Wiccan powers are sliding away. They soon discover she is a near-mythical creature known as a Lygisa--a magical wolf being who, once tied to a pack, protects the pack and makes it near invincible. Unfortunately, her absentee-father learns this as well and wants her for his pack...willing or not.

How Cinder and Adam defeat her father and his pack and come together as fated mates makes for an exciting and enjoyable read. I couldn't put it down and finished it in one sitting.

I loved this story for numerous reasons. First, I have to say that I love that it's set in Cleveland, Ohio. I live 30 minutes from there, so it's always nice to have a book from one of my favorite authors set in my home state. The story was very good. I like that she was half-Wiccan/half-wolf. The way that played out after she met Adam, her mate and alpha of the Cleveland pack, was a very unique spin on her heritage. It was fascinating. I loved seeing both of those sides of Cinder. It was also very refreshing that she had a life before Adam. Cinder enjoyed sex and wasn't the innocent virgin that you see a lot of nowadays. She was a woman and explored that. Poor Adam didn't know what to make of her. As alpha, he's used to people obeying his every command. He finally realizes that won't work with Cinder. She can't be handled the same as everyone else, because she's not like everyone else. Cinder is his mate and should be treated accordingly. Talk to her, ask questions, take her on a date, think about her feelings, and don't have everyone act as a go between with her when you should be doing this by yourself, for her. Thankfully, Adam does fix this before it's too late because there are bigger problems coming their way. Someone from Cinder's past has plans for her and she won't enjoy them and they won't include Adam. Want to know what they are? Read the book. :-)

A witch discovers that she's something more when she learns she's the fated mate of the local alpha wolf shifter.

I didn't expect this book to be as scary as it was. There's way more going on here than a shifter romance. It takes on the concept of evil in a very direct and graphic way--not simply as the background for a love story.

Cinder, the heroine, is Wiccan. There's a lot of that culture involved in the story. It adds even more texture to the book.

AWAKEN THE WOLF is the ninth book in an on-going series. It stands alone without a problem. But there are a lot of characters and many different sub-groups within the greater supernatural community. Many of them are so interesting that you'd like to follow their stories at some point.

Cinder is a well-wrought character. She's strong willed and independent...and completely clueless about the degree of danger she's in. Adam Beaumont is a fun hero. He's so shocked that Cinder isn't falling all over herself with joy when she learns she's his mate. Dealing with a witch is new to him. It throws him off balance, and that's fun to watch.

The scenes where Cinder is held by the enemy wolves are just terrifying. They are really bad news. And it's even worse when you take into account Cinder's relationship to one of the key members. Talk about creepy!

Excellent book. On my re-read list.

As usual RE Butler has written a beautiful love story. This is book #9 in the Wiccan-Were-Bear series, so there are people and places mentioned in previous books.
The emotions of the characters and the deep caring between people is always awesome. Cinder Knight is a half Wiccan (fire), her father is a wolf shifter. She lives with a tiger shifter named Cyrus and also dates a low ranked wolf named Leo. Leo's pack owns a club called Lykos. The three are friends with benefits. Adam Beaumont is Leo's alpha and is at Lykos when Leo and Cinder go there for a date. Adam scents his mate, Cinder.
Controlling alpha meets free spirited wiccan and the sparks fly. Their connection causes Cinder's wolf to finally start to surface and she feels her wiccan powers dwindling. Eventually Adam and Cinder discover than when she has her first shift she will also come into her powers as the Lygisa. Here come the power hungry bad guys in the form of a demon, Cinder's birth father and a black magic wiccan. The Lygisa is very powerful in the protection of her pack and the bad guys want her power.
HEA wins out and the whole pack loves their alpha pair and their Lygisa
In this book we also meet Adam's little sister Angie who is fascinated by vampires and Cinder plans to introduce her to Arrisa who we met in A Slash of Savagery and is the beloved of Brone, vampire.

I really love this series. I think only one of the books I disliked. This one was the longest and I think book 8 and 9 are my favorites. Honestly, I really thought Adam was a total dick! Especially in the beginning...I was like geez! He pulled some not so cool things on her to force things. Wanted to slap him. Really loved Cinder's character, she was sweet and a very good witch kind of young though but a good person. Sassy as well which she totally needed to deal with HIM. We come to find out Cinder isn't a real Wiccan...well she was but she is something so much more powerful. She's also part werewolf who's been dormant all these years. One touch from Adam, her mate and all hell breaks loose for her. Not even a sexual touch at that just skin connecting and then WHAM! She's a Lygisa an extremely powerful werewolf who is a protector of whatever pack she bonds with. A Lygisa is coveted and sought after and there are a lot after her. Sinister and lets just say her father has a hand in it and let me just say ew. You'll find out what I mean when you read the story. I felt for that poor girl. Anyways, turns out Adam isn't so bad and he moves heaven and hell to protect her and keep her safe. I recommend this book. Great addition to the series and can't wait for more! I really hope we can get a story about Mishka. He's very deserving in my opinion. :)

I was so stoked when R.E. let a few of us get this book early. At first I had forgotten about Adam unlike the other suitors Elizabeth dated in the first book. To say the least he made a great impression on me. Its like he walked in with his chest out and said "watch me do me" lol. Cinder sort of reminded me of a young Elizabeth but without the same amount of guys as she had. She enjoyed her fun with them but more then anything they were her friends. When he first made his presence known to be a fly on the wall when the feeling and everything hit her and the look on her face. She was so use to being her own person and doing her own thing she couldn't let him in. It was awesome when they found out that her purpose was so much more then she thought. She was already a great person and to be able to go beyond just being a wicken topped the cake. Her journey kept me at the edge of my seat. The anti-climactic build up of the unleashing of her powers was jaw dropping. I loved how everything worked out. R.E. did her thing on this one. I so enjoyed this book.

I was given an ARC by the author for an honest review

I have this issue...

I love this book as i love R.E still i have to say this was not one of her best work...still it was perfect!!

I know it doesn't make a sense but R.e is an amazing author and all her books are amazing still sometimes some books leave you with a damn wow and other with just the wow...

i think i still don't make sense.

There were points that i didn't much liked how the story was going and parts i found boring still i was so into the book that i didn't realise when it ended.

I loved how strong willed and funny Cinder is...and how strong willed and alpha male Adam is.

The book was fast paced with lots of action and packed with supernaturals and magic and some really hot steamy sex.

the twists and turns in the plot were amazing and it was really awesome that we got glimses of other characters we know and love!!!

Can't wait for more!!!

Another great edition to R E butlers Wiccan-were-Bear novella series.

Adam is the hot alpha wolf we first met in the very first book of this series. He finally gets his mate in the form of Cinder, a Wiccan/wolf cross breed. She's not had the best of times due to her duel heritage so is trying to carve a new life for herself after being forced to leave her mothers coven. Cinder hasn't been able to shift so doesn't think of herself as a wolf so when Adam tries to push her into excepting the mate claim it doesn't go over well with Cinder. Nothing's quite as it seems though as Cinder isn't just your average wolf and unfortunately for Adam he isn't the only one wanting to stake a claim! Lots of drama follows but as always with this series we get our HEA.

My only complaint is these books are never long enough!

I love this series so much!!! Adam is the alpha of his pack and used to be the Wicca Elizabeth's lover. He is feeling the pressure of finding a mate when he sees her across the dance floor of the pack owned bar Lykos. Cinder is half Wiccan half wolf and does not appreciate Adam coming in and trying to bulldoze her life and take away her choices. For as much as she fights against the mate bond, she can't help feel drawn to Adam and eventually comes to accept his claim on her. Danger awaits as Cinder grows into what she was always meant to be and her and Adams love for each other grows. This is a fantastic continuation of the Wiccan Were-Bear series and I can't wait to read whoever' story is next!!!

I like R.E. Butler's work and this book was no exception. However, I think she did too good a job of making Adam behave badly. It's a fine line between establishing the hero as an dominant, bossy, alpha male and making him out to be a jerk. I feel that the balance was a little off in this book. No matter how she tried to backtrack later on, I still harboured a dislike of Adam that never really went away. I do like a good alpha male but Adam annoyed me too much.

It was an interesting book within an interesting series and it was well worth a read. I just felt that the alpha male needed a few more redeeming features to be a real romantic hero.

RECEIVED AN ARC FOR A HONEST REVIEW
Cinder is part Wiccan and part wolf. She goes to a bar with a friend and finds her mate. Adam is Alpha and when he realizes he scents his mate, he wants to drag her home with him. Cinder is not very accepting at first. But changes start...her wolf becomes dominant and her Wiccan powers fade. But she is in for a bigger surprise when she learns she is a lygisa, more powerful and if her pack dies so does she. But someone else wants her. Can Adam save her before the other Alpha makes her his? Best paranormal book! Couldn't stop reading it. Funny and sexy.

I started to read this book and I couldn't put it down. I had to work in the morning and I was tired all day but it was so worth it. This book is one of the best Wiccan-Were-Bear in the series, R.E. Butler just keep getting better and she is the master at weaving tales that make you want to know how it ends makes you will stay awake all night be warned. Cinder is a natural wiccan and Adam is the Alpha of his pack, Cinder is awesome she made me laugh out loud through out the book. Adam is a strong alpha man the makes you want a man like him. R.E. is one of the best writers out there.
