When Adrianne found out she was pregnant eight years ago, she made the decision to leave Bible school and raise her child alone. Staying would have prevented her boyfriend from fulfilling his God-appointed mission in life. But every day since, she has regretted her decision. Chris-rejected, confused, and heartbroken-finished school and soon found himself in Nicaragua, loving life as a missionary. But the void left by Adrianne's unexplained departure remains. When Chris returns to the States for a friend's wedding, is his unexpected meeting with Adrianne a coincidence or a "God incidence?" Can they put aside the past and embrace a future together as a family?
What an excellent story of faith and forgiveness! I loved the message of this one, that our sins are covered and washed by the blood of Jesus. Adrianne and Chris let their passion rule their choices in college, despite a prior commitment to each other that they wouldn't. The consequences are heavy for both of them, but when they meet again after eight years, there just might be room for more than simple forgiveness...
I loved how real it seemed, how the characters feel anger, angst, nervousness...and deal with them all as grown-ups and Christians. Often it seems that books lack this sort of maturity, and I really enjoyed this aspect.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Pre Teens- One Star New Teens- One Star (and a half) Early High School Teens- Three Stars Older High School Teens- Four Stars My personal Rating- Four Stars I’ve read quite a few plots where the girlfriend-gets-pregnant-but-the-boyfriend-doesn’t-know-until-much-later plots. As a general rule, I’ve stayed away from them because they all have unneeded Sexual Content in them. But, this book is by Janice Thompson. Y’all should know by now she’s a very favorite author of mine. So, I knew I wanted to read this book..even though I was a teeny, tiny worried…which I shouldn’t have been at all! It was all so very clean and the faiths were incredible! And also, another really neat thing about this small book is that it’s FREE on Kindle right now! :D
“Red Like Crimson” is a really good book. This is only the second book I've read by this author, but I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of her books soon. Even though this book has some harder issues like wedlock, it's a super clean book. There's no descriptive talk about it or any going back to "re-live" the scene which was really nice. The only thing that I didn't really like, and it didn't draw away from the story or anything, but a couple times it was hard tell which character was talking. I think it might've been the formatting of the book. It only happened like two times, so it wasn't a big deal, just a bit confusing. ;)
I enjoyed the story and characters. The storyline was unique and real. In the sense that even Christians can get carried away in relationships. (But probably not hide a pregnancy/child for so many years...that wasn't too cool...) And I think it is harder to forgive yourself for some sins. It was a good story. I related a Chris a bit. I'm in ministry and have had to make some decisions about where I'll live when I feel my heart is in a different country. Totally understood his dilemma. But God is faithful.
With that said...I found a few editing mistakes. Not many, shouldn't bother too many people. And I felt there was too much crying and tearing up. Everyone. All the time. Yes, things got emotional and it's a crazy situation...but really? Is everyone on their periods? It was too much in my opinion.
Mistakes, sins, happen unto all of us. Can happiness ever come to those who make mistakes, who do wrong? The Bible says "Though our sins be as scarlet.........seek the forgivenss of Jesus Christ. Turn every day over to God and let Him have control. Blessings do arrive, they do come, just keep praying and looking unto God!!!
This is more than the cute story expected when looking at the cover and title. Thompson tackles a serious subject and does it with grace. Adrianne and Chris fell in love while attending Bible College. When that love leads to an unplanned pregnancy Adrianne leaves college without a word to Chris. She is determined not to ruin his life and steer him away from the call God has on his life to Missions.
Years later Chris, who has been out of country, returns to attend a friends wedding and comes face to face with the woman he has longed for all these years. Is it time for Adrianne to tell Chris the truth and if she does, what happens next?
Have you done something in your life that you are ashamed of? Have you made a mistake you wish you could change? Have you walked through life not being able to forgive yourself? All these questions run through Adrianne's mind constantly. When she was in college she met the man of her dreams. Their love was contagious and they wanted to be together forever. One decision will change everything and put them on different paths.
Adrianne is working as a curator at a museum when she comes face to face with her past. The man she ran away from back in college is standing right there in front of her. I loved Adrianne and her deep sense of faith. Now she must use her faith and trust God as she and Chris reconnect. It seems to be easier to forgive others than ourselves. Adrianne has carried a secret for so long and she knows it is time to let go of all the shame she has felt.
Chris has no idea why Adrianne suddenly left college that day and hopes to get answers . I loved his devotion to missionary work and how much his faith meant to him. Adrianne always knew his desire was to be a missionary and she couldn't bring herself to tell Chris all those years ago that she was pregnant. The story is so beautifully written as two people work through forgiveness. Adrianne seems to carry a heavy burden and hopes Chris will understand why she kept his daughter a secret all these years. I loved the interaction between father and daughter as they got to know each other. The author has written a story that was emotional and filled with God's mercy. This is one story you won't be able to put down. Will Chris and Adrianne work things out?
I especially liked this story because it illustrates so eloquently how hiding secrets can hurt others. We all fight temptations and when we fail, God is there to give us mercy and grace. I loved how the author took two people and walked them through the past with compassion and shared the unconditional love that God gives us each day.
Sometimes you just feel like a nice, clean romance. And this book is certainly that. It is a story of mistakes, failures, and the ability to forgive others as well as ourselves. It starts with Adrianne leaving school suddenly and leaving a note under her boyfriend’s door to say bye. Although it is never implicitly stated why, it’s fairly obvious the reason for something like this so the shocker there wasn’t much of one for me. When Chris shows up at the museum where she works eight years later, she knows the time has come to come clean with him and let him know about the daughter that they have. From there they have to decide if they can let go of past hurts and regret over mistakes to try to have a future together. This story is ultimately about two people reconnecting with their first love, being able to forgive the mistakes for the past, and learn to accept forgiveness from themselves, each other, and most importantly from God. It also showed that forgiveness is a central part of the faith. Adrianne’s parents could have just as easily turned her out when she showed up pregnant out of wedlock. Chris could have refused to forgive her for not telling him about their daughter. And Adrianne could have not forgiven herself (which sometimes is hard to do). Knowing that forgiveness is a central part of the plot also makes the title make more sense. It's a quick easy read and I enjoyed it well enough. Is some of it predictable? Yes, so fi that is a reading deal breaker for you, pass this one up. Ultimately it is a sweet story and sometimes, especially in this world, that is all you need.
I've always loved Janice Thompson's writing so when I had a chance to snag a free kindle version of Red Like Crimson, I did so and read it at the first opportunity. This book read so easily it felt like a novella but it is a full length novel.
Eight years ago, Adrianne abandoned the man she loved and her education when she discovered she was pregnant. She knew that would ruin Chris' opportunity to fulfill his dream to go to the mission field. She never told him why she left. Now years later they come face to face when he comes to Pennsylvania for a friend's wedding. Adrianne knows it's time to tell him the truth. He has a daughter.
Chris never understood why she left. He finished school and now works as a missionary in Nicaragua and loves it. When he meets Adrianne again old flames kindle to life and he dreams of the possibilities. Confronted by the reality that he's a father complicates things.
In previous books by Janice Thompson faith has been seamlessly woven in and the characters are whimsical at times and humor abounds. Red Like Crimson is a departure of sorts from that kind of writing style but is no less engaging for digging deeper into spiritual truths and weaving together grace and forgiveness in the wake of sin as well as the power God has to work things to good. I had a hard time putting this one down. It may have lacked the humor of her other books which I had anticipated, but it definitely did not lack the charm. The disappointment was short-lived as I was swept into the story she wove so skillfully.
Christian romance dealing with a college girl who gets pregnant at Bible College. Horrified and ashamed, she runs back to her parents, leaving her boyfriend to always wonder what went wrong. Eight years later, they meet up and she has to tell him he has a 7 year old daughter. This tale kept bringing up the Isaiah verse of ‘though your sins be red as crimson they can be white as snow.” It was an enjoyable read.

This is a clean sweet novel about lost love, found again later in life. There are secrets that must be revealed, other potential suitors, and career conflicts to be resolved. It was pretty typical for this type of novel, but still enjoyable.
The story of the main characters is well developed, and the characters also have a deep love for the Lord. I also enjoyed the fact that this was a clean story (no profanity or sexual scenes). I recommend you read this book, especially if you're struggling with forgiveness and/or relationships.
My Kindle Prime free ebook loan for the month of September. First in a series (White and Blue are the others) by Janice Thompson. I normally like her books and did this one also, although it was fairly short and sweet. Hopefully I can get to the other ones before they are no longer available to get free on Prime loan.
A great story of redemption, forgiveness and showing that there is an opportunity for sharing about God no matter where we are. I fell in love with Adrianne, Chris and Lorelei. Lorelei was entertaining and put a smile on my face whenever she spoke. The love between Chris and Adrianne warmed my heart. Another enjoyable story by Janice.
A beautiful story of Forgiveness. I loved this story. I fell in love with Adrianne, Chris and Lorelei. This is well written. In addition to the main theme of experiencing God's forgiveness, I loved the sub themes with the precocious seven year old. This is a story I will want to read again.
A wonderful tale of love and forgiveness. Reminds us all that God not only forgives but wipes the slate clean. We just have to forgive ourselves. A different feel from other Janice Thompson books I have read but definitely worth reading.
I really wanted to like these book. The story concept was good. But the writing was too simplistic. The Cinderella tie in, I thought was ridiculous. I did finish the book to see how it ended, but there were sections I was skimming.
This story is one filled with love, and the belief that through God ask things are possible. If you have faith in God doing what is right and in his time you will be able to find happiness.
This is such a sweet romance involving characters who clearly love Christ and try to live their lives according to His will. They made mistakes but try to do what is right. Lorelei was delightful. I consistently cheered for Chris and Adrianne. I look forward to other books in the series.
This story of redemption shows us that when God forgives we must forgive ourselves. A beautiful and well written story. I was given a copy for an honest review.
Love d this book looking forward to read the next one Great author. I would recommend her books 100 percent Thanks Lord Jesus for giving me a chance to read these books
