The thing I enjoy most about reading any of Mercedes’ books is that you use all 5 of your senses. That is how well she writes. You can see, hear, taste, smell, and feel what the characters do. It is truly a 3 dimensional experience. I was first hooked on her work when I fell in love with her characters in her debut novel Silence. I have been addicted ever since. I treasured the complex personalities she developed with all of the characters in Combustion, especially that of Amy, Charlie, Ian, and Danny. I was granted an advanced copy of the book for a non-biased review. I truly believe that this book is worth the read. It will leave you on the edge of your seat from the very first page. Combustion is explosive and does not disappoint! That is why I am giving it 5 stars.

There is no place like home to settle a score, while facing the ominous demons of the past, Mercedes Montgomery's "Combustion" is brutally honest, visceral and at times poignant. The author takes the reader into the windows of each characters soul, giving a very up close and personal view of the inner sanctum of their lives leaving a signature of mystery, intrigue and suspense. The scenes of each chapter are fluid and tying each of the chapters together weaving a character driven story with subtlety and grace while keeping it short and to the point with interesting plot twists to keep the reader's senses sharp while simultaneously being cross-cultural and finding strength in family and exploring family heritage. Very spellbinding!

Mercedes Montgomery has once again written a page turning book. My only complaint is that it is a novella vs. a longer story. Within these pages she was able to capture the fullness of her characters personalities. Her scene descriptions put you right into the story. I only expect to see more great writing in the very near future. Kudos, Mercedes! Oh by the way Are you looking for thrills and chills and so much more? Head out to your nearest bookstore

'Combustion' hooked me from the beginning and never let go. The author doesn't waste any time jumping into action and life or death decisions. The main character, Amy, is running for her life from her husband. She has to protect her son at all costs and returns to the home she grew up in to escape her homicidal spouse. Stir together a pot of rival clans, devious F.B.I agents, a former lover, and come out with Combustion.

I recommend this to anyone who likes thrillers. I am now a fan!

I just finished reading Combustion by Mercedes Montgomery, and I must say that I enjoyed ‘combustion’, Mercedes writes in a colorful way so that you can almost picture it in your head as if you’re watching a movie.
The story is told from multiple viewpoints, which keeps the story fresh and interesting, and you simply can’t stop reading until the end.

If you’re into action/crime stories than this is definitely a great threat for ya.

One thing that I love the most about this book is the twists and turns. I like to read something "heavy" that needs your brain to work out a bit. Combustion by Mercedes Montgomery is one of the samples of book that has "soul" in it. I believe the author has a great imagination of being able to create such good work. Nicely Done!!!
