This book features studio equipment used by some of my favorite producers/djs. It's an insightful publication to help you achieve a certain sound and uncover some secret weapons to add to your arsenal of gear.
It's a photographic coffee-table peek into the home studios of some hip-hop producers. I thumbed thru it in an evening. Broad interiors. Not even a partial equipment list. But cool to see even a slight glimpse of Hip-hop production being more than just sampling records on a turntable into a sampling drum-machine. I like how the author didn't focus just on well-known American hip-hop producers.
Visually stunning and an in depth look at the studios, environments and aesthetics of 26 Hip Hop international underground producers. Full page, high resolution photos in detail set the pace for the artist to describe their work flow and techniques. If you've ever listened to DJ Shadow's "Endtroducing" or DJ Krush's "Zen" and wondered how and in what setting these timeless productions were assembled, this is the book. Highly recommended.
