Second in series 3.5 to 4 stars.
Firstly I read this out of order, I didn't realise until about half way through, there was nothing on Amazon to imply this wasn't the first book, it simply said:
The Vampyre Legal Chronicles - James.
Normally I would check more before I start reading but I'm on holiday at the moment and since nothing suggested otherwise I assumed this was the first and started reading.
While I enjoyed this book I think I might have appreciated it more if I'd read 'Marcus' first as intended.
James Gillespie is a vampire, he's over two hundred years old and he's fallen in love with a human, Charlotte. She loves him back but feels that something is missing, James has been holding back, Charlotte has no idea he's anything other than a human lawyer but trouble is coming and the longer James delays the more vulnerable Charlotte is, but dark forces are at work and Charlotte is already susceptible.
I enjoyed this story and now I'm going back to read 'Marcus'

I read the first one and loved it and had to read the second one. it is fricken amazing! you get vampires, kinky, and jealousy and heartwretching all in one. to watch James's and Charlie's love is a sight to behold. I love the twist of vampire and witch. I look forward to seeing what happens next and if Charlie can give birth to her baby. a great series for sure.

Well I am glad everybody enjoyed this book, because I didn't. After reading hundreds of vampire-themed books, I think this one just didn't do it for me...

Once again CC MacKenzie took me on a wild ride of emotions, I laughed, cried and wanted to kick the butt of a certain EVIL Vampyre, Charlotte wants to spice up her marriage to James and joins a woman's group run by the Evil Eleanore Pattullo, James is deeply in love with his wife but can't bring himself to take her vein. James finds Charlotte's secert diary and decides to let go of his Vampyre he takes her vein and then all heck breaks loose, don't want to give away anymore of the story so I will say this I started this book at 3 in the afternoon and finished 3 hrs later I could not put it down and found that it ended with a cliff hanger saying continued in the next book. I can't wait until the next one comes out because I need to know what happens with James and Charlotte and the rest of the family Dirty Little Secrets (The Vampyre Legal Chronicles)

James takes a human to mate without telling her the consequences. the mating nearly kills her because she's been poisoned by malevolent magic plus she herself is a healer, a witch. turning a witch vampyre is forbidden. the consequences are dire. and if that's not enough, both are attacked by the obsessed Eleanor who has stalked James for a century and tries to kill Charlotte and break and enslave James. she is temporarily defeated and flees with a death sentence on her head. this is book 2..suggest read books in order. complex plots, complicated characters...really interesting series. vampyre politics in this series is a dangerous and deadly game. and the maker of their race is free once more and out to destroy the world.

Amazing!

James and Charlie have a fairytale married. He's a rich lawyer and she works at the hospital. But what she didn't know was he is a vampire Prince. She comes to realize he has taken her blood and made her like him. But she wasn't quite human to begin with. She's part witch. The story has some twists and a awesome ending

This is book 2 and I did enjoy it. It has, naturally, vampyres but it also has witches, demons and a lot of suspense.
The world is changing and even the vampyres are worried.

This one was a little harder for me to follow. It gave more information on the tribes and things that happen to them. Although I still enjoyed the book
