The boys are back, and Torey Hope is better than ever.
When Decker Morgan returns to Torey Hope, he has no time for love and distractions. Always in control, his loyalties lie with himself and his family. His only interest is putting down roots and expanding his family’s business. Kate Turner had planned to leave Torey Hope after college, but she found that being there for her family took precedence. When she lands her dream job working for Decker at his family’s business, The Center+, she realizes that Torey Hope is where she’s supposed to be. When Decker hires Kate she turns his world upside down. She’s brilliant, funny, beautiful, and completely off limits, due to Decker’s self-imposed rules concerning work and family. Kate knows a secret that will make their attraction for one another a little less taboo, but she needs to convince Decker to take a chance. Decker has to decide if he’ll give in to a forbidden romance or keep his tight control firmly in hand. Kate is possibly his perfect girl, but unexpected chaos and havoc at work threaten to tear her away. Will he find the courage to let go or will he lose the only girl he’s ever wanted to keep close? **This is a contemporary romance with suspenseful elements intended for readers age 18+ due to mature language, sexual situations, and violence. While there are no male/male sex scenes in this story, there are some detailed descriptions of male/male relationships.**
Escape into addictive, sexy, emotional M/M romance. A.D. Ellis is an Indiana girl, born and raised. She spends much of her time in central Indiana as an instructional coach/teacher in the inner city of Indianapolis, being a mom to two amazing teens, and wondering how she and her husband of over two decades haven't driven each other insane yet. A lot of her time is also devoted to phone call avoidance and her hatred of cooking. She loves chocolate, hot tea, sweet wine with friends, pizza, and naps along with reading and writing romance. These loves don’t leave much time for housework. Who would pick cleaning the house over a nap or a good book? She uses any extra time to increase her fluency in sarcasm. A.D. uses she/they pronouns. Every time I pick up one of A.D. Ellis' books I get giddy with excitement! I have grown to love Torey Hope and all of the families that make up that community. Ellis never disappoints! I fall in love with each character more and more and I love keeping up-to-date with the other family members too. I love the "later years" idea. I have enjoyed seeing how Decker and his brother and cousins have grown and matured. They still love to give each other a hard time and you can't help but laugh at their antics. Oh Kendrick.....!! I am very impressed with how A.D. Ellis handled covering the sensitive topic of sexual orientation. I cried while I was reading these areas in the book. It really opened my eyes to how a family member of mine must have felt all those years ago when he talked with his own family about his lifestyle choice. Everyone just wants to be loved and accepted for who they are, as they are. My heart breaks for the heartache he experienced and still has to deal with daily. I just love him! He is such a great young man; such a strong and loving person. Wow! Decker and Katie just rock! They are each others perfect match! I love the music choices that Decker dedicated to Katie as "their" songs. **swoon** Decker is absolutely loveable! He commits to learn things just for Katie. What woman wouldn't love him for that alone?
I absolutely love the style of Ms Ellis’ writing. She manages to combine a good story that keeps you guessing right to the end. You think you have everything worked out then Wham Bang she throws a curve ball and you’re left sitting with your kindle in your lap saying damn and blast I wasn’t expecting that!!
I love all the characters. They are all so different yet they all gel nicely together. It was an interesting romance between Decker and Kate, who just happens to be his twin’s ex!
I don't want to say too much about the story as I don't want to be a spoiler moiler but lets just say it will keep you on the edge of your seat and turning the pages.
I really think Ms Ellis is onto a winner with these Torey Hope novels.
In the words of the A. D Ellis: I assumed that most readers would figure out the secrets long before the characters did. So, don't be disappointed if you figure the secrets out, just enjoy the story and take the suspenseful moments for what they are.
It took a long time to try to relate to the some of the characters, and their relationships. There is a strong family connection that you get straight at the beginning. This connection is strong throughout the entire read. This I could relate to and become emotionally involved in. Being from a big family, it was very relevant to real life for me. However, just as you start to get into a section of the story, for me its almost like the style of writing changes and and you have to fight your way back to the plot and character. Unfortunately the only way I could do this was to skip certain sections to get back to the story.
Decker is a standalone read, however highly HIGHLY advisable to read the series. I got lost alittle in the family background, but the family tree definitely helped to keep on track.
In a nutshell, its about family unity when faced with danger and a love between the two main characters. Its the kind of love you hope for you know? Except when the male lead is being a douche! Ya just wanna crack him one! It has definite passion and some parts that actually make your chest hurt or shed a tear or two. Some awesome comeback lines in this read......I think three generations worth, so yup expect some oldies, some moms and pops and oh the hotties comedy rolled in just to keep you on your toes!
Overall though, I liked the storyline alot. Again I think it would make more sense to start from the beginning of this series and read about this family more.
Before I started Decker: Torey Hope: The Later Years I didn't know if I would like it because its about Decker, the child of Nate and Libby in 'For Nicky' without the main focus on the original characters in the Torey Hope series. But I loved it!
This book is about the next generation of Torey Hope and the best thing is hat the series could go on and on until A.D Ellis decides to end the series, (please don't)
I love the closeness and the acceptance the family have towards each other, especially when they learn of Sawyers secret, it wasn't a big deal to them. This to me is what family should be about and I would love it if the characters were real or if I could live in their world.
This book can be read as a standalone but if you haven't read the other books go read them, so you'll get a better grasp on all the children and who belongs to who. Even though I have read all the other books and the family tree is included in Decker I still found myself a small bit confused about who had what child.
'Decker' shows off the amazing imagination and writing of A.D Ellis who has become one of my favourite authors of all time with the realism in her books. I am eagerly waiting the next book Sawyer.
I loved this book!! i have only read 1 other in this series so far, but i will read the rest. so many twists, turns and suspence. This author knows how to hook you and keep you wanting more!!
Guest Review by Melody Dawn I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
This is my first book by A.D. Ellis, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I started reading it. I found the book interesting, although Decker and his brother, cousins, etc are the most mature guys I’ve ever come across. Well, in money matters and knowing what they want out of life, they are. To be honest, I was intially a little off put with Decker because he seemed so cold. Little did I know that this was a front he used to control his emotions, his life, his work, pretty much everything! Seriously, this guy is a control freak! (And not in the fun way lol). I can laugh about this because I am one of those control freaks myself.
Once Decker and the boys get home to their hometown, Torey Hope, a little more of his personality starts to come out and you begin to see what a likable guy he is. He is still a control freak, but he starts letting go of the reins with the help of the woman he comes to love, Katie. They are so sweet together and a little steamy too. Here is my criticism…and I hate saying anything negative…it’s not so much negative, it’s just that even though the sex/love scenes were sufficiently steamy, there just seemed to be a little something lacking…maybe it was him still trying to be in control; it just seemed forced. This is how I responded to them. They just seem to be so in love, but to me it doesn’t connect as strongly in the bedroom. Of course, that is just a minor part of the story.
I really liked the twists and turns that the author put in the story. It kept me on my toes. For the longest, I did not know who the bad guy/girl was. When I figured it out, then it was like, idiot! How could you not know? In addition to the complexity of the story, I also liked that the author dealt with some real life issues that are prevalent in our society. This family is so supportive of one another and that brings me to the side characters: Sawyer, Zach, and Kendrick..they are a hoot! Kendrick is a lot to take in, but he has a big heart that I think has been hurt in a big way. He stepped in when Decker was in overboard control mode. Since, I’m a female reviewer and I’m assuming most of the readers are going to be female, let me just say that Decker acts like a man in every sense of the word: Lord, can we say stubborn! But, it’s done with the best intentions, misguided though they may be. I have to be fair and say that Kate makes some mistakes herself, but who doesn’t in a new relationship…especially one under the stress they were forced to endure.
I feel like this is a good starter book for the series. I am looking forward to reading the stories of Sawyer, Zack, and Kendrick as well. The story was enjoyable, kept you on your toes, had some romance, etc. If I had any criticism to make, it would be how Decker and Kate connected physically. Again, I am not criticizing the author. I think a lot of it had to do with personality quirks, stress, and it being a new relationship. I have no doubt that the further the series goes, the more this will be addressed. Thanks for allowing me to read and review this story. I enjoyed it a lot!
So I loved everything about the parents and now I am thinking I will love the kids stories even more !! OMG I love the connections , the family bonds , the love. It is so awesome to read and plus they are funny and just real !! There were a couple of story set ups throughout so I am excited for what comes next I can tell the guys have some great stories to tell !!
Decker is Mr. Serious , he is focussed on school and his career throughout his whole life. Along with his twin brother and 2 cousins they have dreamt of nothing but making it through school/college together and then coming home to run the family business that we have always known as the Center , now being The Center+. The boys have decided to add and expand on it and make it better than it already was. Upon leaving college Decker even rids himself of his girlfriend of 3 years so he can get home and concentrate on work without distractions. The banter between the 4 boys is comical but you can tell right away that they all have their secrets or story to tell.
Katie is living in Torrey Hope with her mom and gram in search of the perfect job. When she comes across the job at the Center+ she jumps on it and Decker is so impressed he hires her over the phone !! Once they come face to face Decker is shocked to see Katie is actually his twins ex from high school , so the plot thickens !! Katie and Sawyer are great friends but Decker is smitten and horrified. He doesn't want or need a distraction and his brother's ex is against the rules. There is no denying the connection and spark between the two of them but with Sawyer holding something back Decker is having a hard time dealing with his feelings. Katie is very straightforward with her desires and despite reassuring Decker that Sawyer is not an issue Decker just cannot let it go. Katie's gram is freakin hysterical !!
Although this is not Sawyer's story he does have a secret to tell. Once he gets that out Decker and Katie are able to move on and Sawyer is able to share his secret with the whole family having Decker's support. Just when you think all is well the issues at The Center+ begin and escalate to pretty serious in a short amount of time. Who is trying to ruin Decker's dream ?? What will they do next ?? Will Decker be able to juggle the job and a relationship or will he push Katie away when times get hard ?? This story has so many journeys in it and obviously tons of struggle. With a bit of suspense you will be on the edge of your seat , with the banter of the 4 boys and their parents you will be laughing out loud , with Sawyer's struggle you will be sympathetic , with Katie's Gram you will LOL way louder than ever !! With Katie and Decker's connection you will most definitely feel the heat !! So many bits and pieces come together to make this story a well rounded one. Again I am looking forward to more and enjoyed this story so much !!
This story is set in the town of Torey Hope. If you have read the previous books by A.D. Ellis in the Torey Hope series you will now a lot about Torey Hope and this family. but if like me this is your first book - introducing you to this series you may get a little confused but you can catch on soon enough.
This book is Decker's story. Oh Decker is Mr. Serious and all business. He has one goal since going off to school/ college with his twin and cousins; the center+. Nothing was going to get in the way of that. Absolutely nothing, it's what he and his family have been working towards. Even his girlfriend of three years wasn't going to stop him, his family and business are everything to him.
"You know that the guys and I have planned on going back to Torey Hope and expanding The Center. This has been our plan since before our first day in college and we've never wavered from it."
Kate Turner has known Decker Morgan's family pretty much her whole life. Torey Hope is a small town after all, but she has her own ties with the family. When a job opens up at the center+ that would suit level-headed smart Kate, she grabs the opportunity - not revealing her identity until the very last minute. I really liked Kate - she was a force even up against all the different personalities of these men. She held her own - knew what she wanted and wasn't afraid to voice it either.
Decker is uptight. Kate not so much. Right from the start I just couldn't imagine Decker enjoying himself, or even going after someone- honestly I just couldn't imagine Decker being sexy. He was in business mode from the get-go and he even lay down the rules when him and the boys came home. My favourite thing about this was watching how she completely unraveled Decker - it made me so giddy.
"...I ache for you, my brain short circuits around you, I lose all control. I don't lose control for anyone, but then you waltzed in..."
So I was actually really surprised how much I loved this story. When I started it I wasn't expecting to - the reason is I can't usually get through a book that isn't told from either/both of the characters' POV. For me I can't get a connection with the story that way but I really liked this story. Yes it took a bit to get my head around the family- It's a big family but I caught on soon enough and fell in love with the other family members as well as Decker. I probably won't read many other books in this style of writing but will certainly read the others in this series because I fell in love with the other characters. I loved how this was done too - the angst had me on the edge of my seat. Because it really effected all the characters and it was done well. And who knew Decker could be hot?
Like the rest of The Torey Hope series, Decker is pure addiction. It's romantic, suspenseful, sexy, and funny with a splash of angst. Torey Hope is about hope: hope for a better life, new friends, and maybe love. You can't help but feel as if you are a part of these families' lives while reading books that span generations from grandparents to grandkids.
Beautiful Katie Turner, Decker Morgan's twin brother's best friend in high school, has nearly given up dating and feels she's never going to find Mr. Right. She is not going to settle for Mr. Wrong or Mr. Douche either. So, Katie focuses on work until she meets a guy who is actually worth her time and effort.
Decker Morgan is hot, well-built, and the most serious of the Morgan cousins. Work over play and not much time for romance or women especially after ending a more 'friends with benefits' relationship of three years with gal who peddles crazy like a bike.
Unknowingly hiring Katie to be his new assistant at the Center is instant trouble with their insta-chemistry that is nearly combustible.
"She was perfect. Damn, the first girl he'd ever felt truly drawn to was going to be his assistant manager which meant that the connection he felt to her couldn't go anywhere. One of his hard and fast rules was that business and pleasure never mixed. Never."
Working when you have the hots for your boss is all kinds of wrong, but feels oh-so-right. Maybe it's time to mix business with pleasure, follow your heart, and screw the consequences.
"Years of dating, wondering if each man was the one had brought her to this point; she'd never felt this way about any other guy. She knew they'd have to work through the working together part, but she felt it deep in her heart and without a doubt that Decker Morgan was her one, and she wasn't going to give up easily."
Things have gotten complicated. Lines are blurred: Self doubts and a pesky past loom in a cloud of darkness over Decker and Katie.
I loved this beautiful story and can't wait for the rest of the next generation of Torey Hope's books. Kendrick, with his funny analogies and one-liners, needs his own book soon as I think he is going to be my favorite cousin. He is pee-your-pants funny!
"I didn't expect to see you guys here. I thought you'd be having your own taco night in your bedroom."
I only wish Decker was written in my favorite first-person format like the rest of the series was as it is more personal and powerful.
Decker is a heart-warming story about a man who comes home to help the family business. Decker is a business controlling and goal oriented man when it comes to his business and his life. He takes stock only in his and his family needs. While he has an overwhelming need to plant roots in Torrey Hope with his family, he doesn’t take stock in looking for someone to plant those roots down with. He has rules when it comes to women and the number one of them is not mix business and pleasure. So the question remains. Why did Decker hire someone he’s fiercely attracted to be his assistant manager when his rules say he can’t have her? He’s so screwed.
Kate’s character really resonated with me. She like most girls want to wander far from home and experience life away from their hometowns, only to find that they cannot leave their family. Even though family takes precedence when it comes to the town she settles into, she still manages to get the job she’s always dreamed about especially with a hot boss like Decker. She knows his rules about dating, but she cannot help feeling a strong attraction to him. She knows he wants her, but he’s too controlling to break his own rules. Yet, the little secret she has been holding back on might just change his mind.
A.D. Ellis has delivered yet another brilliant addition to the Torrey Hope series. Every new addition to this series trumps the previous release. It’s a very rare thing for me as a seasoned reader to say that Ellis has created one of the best and dare I saw nearly perfect book series. Her characters have this sense of familiarity that I love when reading a contemporary romance novel. They seem like normal people that you could see on the street every single day in the heartland. Even the supporting characters fit neatly into the story with the main characters. The story lines are engaging and move forward at just the right pace to keep readers satisfied. She also throws in an out of nowhere curve ball into her romance stories that only adds to the increasing amount of love I have for this series. Fans of romantic suspense will eat Decker up!

Decker Morgan has no time for love. He’s career motivates him and he likes to be in control of everything. He’s returned to Torey to help expand the family business. Katie Turner had dreams of leaving Torey but has remained there for her family. Getting a job at Decker’s family business and laying eyes on him… well, she’s glad she decided to stay. She used to date Decker’s twin brother when they were in school; however, she used a different name then so when Decker hires her, he hasn't got a clue she’s his brothers ex.
Decker finds an instant connection to Katie. She’s beautiful, funny and she turns his carefully ordered life on its head. But he doesn’t mix work with pleasure, so he decides anything with her is just not going to happen. She has a strong attraction for him, too. Working together isn’t as easy as it seems when you’re both fighting a strong attraction to each other. Will she get him to break his own rules?
When Decker and Kate can no longer deny their feelings and give into each other, you know it isn’t going to be plain sailing. Things also start happening at work as someone’s out to cause trouble. What follows is suspense, mystery and lots of twists and turns. Will Decker be able to relinquish some of the tight control he exercises in every aspect of his life and commit to Katie, or will that need to control send her away?
I really enjoyed this book! It’s the first in a new series: Torey Hope, The Later Years and focuses on the twins and cousins. While it can be read as a standalone, I'd read the Torey Hope Series first. There’s an excellent secondary character base too; Sawyer, Kendrick and Zach, and I do hope each will get their own story. I connected with the characters easily and loved watching a carefully controlled man like Decker lose it to a woman who rocks his world! He’s dominant, alpha and sizzling hot! The story’s interesting and keeps you gripped throughout.
*A copy given by author, in return for an honest review.*
Decker is the story about the Morgan boys on their later years. The story starts up with the boys on their last day in college packing to go home to Torey Hope. Even though they have done big things with their studies, not one of them can leave their beloved home Torey Hope. Everything they did at school was for Torey Hope, of course with the help of their very responsible, follow the rules cousin and brother Decker. Decker was the man with the plan, he always had the best interest of his family on his mind throughout school and after school. He planned everything down to going back to Torey Hope and taking over the gym.
This time around it took me a few chapters to finally get into the story. The boys are adorable together, always making fun of each other and I love Kendrick the most. He is funny and very interesting. I thought I was done with this whole series, but with Kendrick and his personality..I want more. I want to get to know Kendrick more. So Ms A.D. Ellis, I hope you are working on Kendrick story..love him.
This story touched on a lot of things that everyday family deals with. With secrets shared, crazy dealings with others that won’t go away. Of course, having a loving family who will treasure and love their family no matter what life throws their way.
Of course the main characters of this story Decker and Kate are adorable couple. Who have their moments in the story, from lovable to somewhat corny at times. From their cute pet names to their crazy sex life. If you love the Torey Hope Series, you will definitely love this addition to the story. Thx for sharing AD Ellis.
Enter again to Torey Hope but this time it is thanks to the kids that we get to go there again. It is not often a author can take you back over and over to a place and keep your interest much less expand to another generation. This author does just that but she is also able to grow the characters that have you embracing them and loving them also. The boys are back with this novel centering around Decker. There are four of them with each having a part but it is his growth and path in life that we will be entranced with the most. The Center plus will be possible thanks to many hands, and it is good to be home. It is Decker who is doing the looking for a assistant manager with Katherine catching his interest. Low and behold when they do meet up it is soon realized that he knows her as the girl Sawyer used see for a bit but remained friends, and it is soon realized his interview. This author then takes you quite a journey with these two but there is also a big thing between them- the job. They come to a understanding that also has Decker being pushed to see things in a different light. You are also given insight alittle more into each of the other guys but also some very special scenes that center around Sawyer. Just love how it all fits together in this one with one generation and the other one. This also is a perfect description on FAMILY and how they can live and work together. Don't despair though there is also plenty of romance also. A relationship that grows and has depth is by far better than a surface one any day. There will also be a bit of trouble that is in the form of suspense in here that adds spice to the reading. Katherine will be the target with danger around the corner. But the root of it will come in the form of Decker's past. The best part is how she brings it all around and ties this one up that you will be sighing because love will have the final say in Torey Hope that will leave you wondering almost is there something in the air there? Received a copy for a honest review.
WOW! I was one of the lucky ones to beta read for this book. It's the 1st book of Mrs. AD Ellis that I read & it won't be the last! I absolutely LOVED it! It's a combination of perfection with just the right amount of love, angst, suspense, jealousy, passion, steam, humor & emotion! There were lots of times I went from laughing to in tears to swooning to biting my nails all in one chapter! Truly one of my fav books I've read this year!
Decker is an amazing person! It's smart, grounded, funny & really sexy! He's a bit of a control freak. After graduation him, his twin Sawyer, and cousins Zack & Kendrick move back to Torey Hope to run the Center+, a recreational type facility. Things start getting crazy & scary after Decker falls hard for Kate, the new girl at the office & Sawyer's ex-girlfriend from years ago. I was on edge with most of the book! I could NOT put it down!
I loved the supporting characters so much! They are a big part in the book & Decker's life! I loved so hard at the 4 of them! LOVE Sawyer, Zack & Kendrick!
Can Decker protect Kate from this stalker crazy person? Can they solve this mystery in time before everything is ruined? This book is full of twists & turns & surprises! I didn't see a lot of things coming & that made me very happy! You definitely want to read this Romantic Suspense! It's so awesome! I can't wait for Sawyer's book! I fell in love with him!
First book I have read by A.D Ellis, this can be read as a standalone as it technically a spin off from an earlier series, however I Would recommend reading the Torey Hope books before hand as it can get very confusing with all the characters and their families.
Decker has a good sensible head on his shoulder, ever since he was a little boy he knew he wanted to go into the family business and run The Centre. He studied hard at college for 4 years to complete this goal and only had his girlfriend Angela as she was convenient, like him she was always business minded so it was easy to schedule there life's around each other. However once college was over, Decker broke up with her as they were both heading in different directions - literally, she was heading to New York & he was heading back home to Torey Hope.
Katie Turner is back home, she left after high school and also returned back after college, however Katie Turner wasn't her name back then, so when Decker phone interviews her for the assistant manager job at the The Centre, he has no idea who he is in fact speaking to. Turns out Katie was Decker's twin brothers girlfriend back in high school - yet when Decker & Katie see each other, they both realize that working together might be a hell of lot harder to do when you have uncontrollable feelings for each other.
When someone tries messing with The Centre, will Decker be able to focus on the dream he's had since he was a child? Or will he choose love over life?
I wish I Could say I loved this book but I cant - did i enjoy it? Yes, it was funny in some parts and in others, it really gripped me - yet when It started getting all complicated with family names and how intertwined they all are I kinda drifted off and felt myself skipping pages to get back to the story line. I loved some of the characters, especially Kendrick & Sawyer, so I will definitely be keeping an eye out for their respective stories.
I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.
Decker by A.d. Ellis is a great love story between two very driven, successful people. Kids fresh out of college, really just getting started in this world. It starts us off in a new series, Torey Hope- The Later Years and will be four books, two about twins and two about their cousins! This book follows one of the twins mainly, Decker. He is a very responsible, great guy, good friend, not to mention smart and extremely good looking! He moves back home after graduating, job waiting on him, he got it all going for him!!!
Kate is an old friend of all the guys, but especially Sawyer. She ends up working for Decker and they end up having feelings for each other. There is tour usual problem for young love and some twist and turns that isn't so usual too! Katie is sweet, pretty and smart as well- such a good match for Decker. She has this secret that could possibly help make Decker's decision easier.
Some book just stick with you, sometimes they affect you in a way that changes your life. Decker by A.d. Ellis is this book for me. It is not a big secret, that I'm a big fan of Ellis. I have in fact read every one of her books. I find she writes with such compassion and depth. Her books always seem well researched, the first time I read her one of her books, I was so impressed with the content, I sent her a message, here on Goodreads asking if she had someone in her family with the disability she wrote about. I say all of this because in Decker, Ellis wrote about a subject that I'm very familiar with. She really just kind of touched on this subject in Decker, to set up for her next book Sawyer but, she got the reactions and emotions right. I really don't want to give all of the plot away but, Ellis took a very sensitive subject and can be difficult to cover and get right, and handled it with dignity and respect.
The Torey Hope Series started with For Nicky. For Nicky was the love story of Nate and Libby. Decker is one of their sons and this is his story.
Decker, his twin brother Sawyer, cousins Zach and Kendrick are returning to Torey Hope after college to take over The Center. Through the years, their families have acquired ownership and added lots of programs, including programs for adults. It is now called The Center+.
Decker hires Katie as Assistant Director and the sparks fly hot and heavy between them. Decker is anal. OCD. He has to be in complete control of everything. Especially his feelings. He has never "let his hair down" and just enjoyed anything. There always has to be a plan and he follows it to the T. He feels if he ever just let's go, something bad will happen. Katie is more spontaneous and open to new adventures. She knows how to enjoy life and follow her feelings. Decker becomes a changed man being with Katie. He learns how to live life openly and with passion. He realizes all he has missed by being wound so tight. It was fun to watch his transformation.
True to form, this story is about love. Love of family. Romantic love. Love for their town. Love in all its many forms. Love and family are the unifying themes of the entire set of Torey Hope books. This story grabbed me in the beginning and kept me hooked. It is well-written and flows easily from one scene to the next. All the characters are likable and are people I would love to have in my life.
If you are looking for a terrific book about love in all its many forms; romantic love with great chemistry and hot sex; or simply a good story; I highly recommend reading Decker. I also recommend the original books in the Torey Hope Series. A.D. Ellis is an author that needs to be added to your list of "must have, 1-click" authors.
* I received a copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review. *
A.D. Ellis has done it again! She has taken the reader on a roller coaster ride that just keeps getting better and better, the more twists, turns, curves and loops she throws us the more we buckle up for the ride! This story is no exception! I loved the idea of Torey Hope, the later years and she didn't disappoint at all!!
Decker and his twin brother Sawyer become more lovable, fun and exciting as we read more about them in this installment of the series. Decker is so rigid, everything is planned out and he doesn't like to veer from his ideas, until he meets "the one". She was so not in his well laid plans and that throws him off his game. You can't help but laugh, cheer, yell, scream and at times shake your head in disbelief at him throughout the journey. This journey is like coming home to old friends, things have changed but you can jump right in and pick up where you left off. It is a fun read for anyone, but if you start at the beginning you will fall in love with each character for a different reason. This is the third book I've read by A.D. Ellis and in my opinion is the best one yet.
Decker comes back to Torey Hope to help the family business, he's goal oriented, loyal to his family, and a bit, shall we say, controlling? He has this rule of not mixing business with pleasure but when the time comes to hire an assistant, he chooses a woman he becomes very attracted to. Kate is a smart, beautiful girl, working at her dream job and for a dream boss. She's attracted to Decker and knows the attraction is mutual, but she also knows of his little dating rule. There are secrets, angst, humor, and of course romance. I love the way family is portrayed in this book, how close and supportive they are. The author also touches on a difficult subject and treats it with the utmost respect. The connection between the main characters is palpable from the beginning even though Decker tries to run away from it. I really like Kate, she's a strong character, secure of what she wants and she confronts Decker head on, not letting him intimidate her. There is a crazy factor on the person that comes back from Decker's past to try to ruin his present and future and Kate is her main target. For me it was the sense of togetherness that made me love the story. In a world, real and fictional, where families are separated, they hate each other, and even hurt each other, it truly meant a lot that the author gave this story such a close knit group of people who are there for each other no matter what. A.D. gives us a little insight on the other guys, who's stories will be soon to follow.
Decker Morgan is finished with college and ready to return to Tory Hope to begin his life. Along with his brother cousins. The life they had planned is all coming together. Return home, focus on the Center+. No complications or relationships just like he planned. Life doesn't always go as planned. Falling for his assistant manager he hired definitely wasn't in the plans. Everything about Katherine turned him on. Except she was his twin brother Sawyer's girlfriend in high school and that makes her off limits. Problems start popping up with the construction at the Center+ and finding out who is behind it all before anyone gets hurt, secrets that come to light make Decker rethink all his plans.
If you read the Torey Hope series you will remember Decker as a child. Here he is all grown up. This book can be read as a standalone. the author does a fantastic job of filling in the complex relationships of the different families. This story focuses on Decker and I have to say he grew up to be one hot sexy young man. Good head on his shoulders. He thinks a little to much and tries to rule his life with his head and ignore his heart. Katherine has a good head on her shoulders. She doesn't back down from Decker when he gets ideas in his head. She fights for what she wants. The secondary characters really help the story along. Each have distinctive personalities and blend in wonderfully. Leaving the field open for more books in the series.
I was given this book to read in turn for an honest review!!!
Decker and the boys are back in Tory Hope. Centre+ is born and the boy’s families are excited to get their plans in motion, especially Decker. First on Decker’s agenda is a manager to help him run the place. Kate fits the job perfectly, too perfectly. Will Decker go against his rules and act upon his feelings? Will the Centre+ go to plan without any hitches?
I love the BDSM boys! The love, care, devotion and loyalty these young men have for each other is outstanding. AD Ellis has delivered a captivating and suspenseful young adult contemporary romance, one that leaves you wanting more. It’s refreshing to read about four young men who stand by each other through everything and aren't afraid to let each other know if they think one of them is being an idiot or has made a huge mistake. Kate was strong, independent, loyal and funny. The relationship she has with each of these young men anyone would be envious off. She judged no one and accepted people for who they are. The connection she and Decker have is truly beautiful, they fit each other perfectly. I can't wait to read Sawyer, Kendrick and Zach’s stories. I know without a doubt I am going to miss these boys when their stories are over.
If you have loved the Torey Hope series, or love captivating, suspenseful young adult romances you will absolutely love Decker’s story.
What a cute book! OK, cute isn’t the right word….. because cute implies lack of heat. And let me tell ya, there is no lack of heat!
Decker is a control F-R-E-A-K, but kind, loving, and all for his family. Decker come home from college (and judging by the homecoming, he had not been there is a loooong time) to work with his brother and cousins to take over and improve The Center(+). He breaks up with his “girlfriend” (read: physical release person) and heads off.
Katie is in the process of starting her life too, just from home with her mother and grandmother. She ends up working for Decker and BA-BOOM Insta-attraction! These two have their ups and down, some serious challenges, and some freaking awesome sex!! This book delivers on so many counts, suspense…check. Romance…check. Alpha male….check. Take-not-shit heroine…check.
I have to say there were times when i felt a little bit of redundancy, by the end of the book you REALLY know how everyone is related and the back-story is burned into your head. But don’t let this discourage you. I enjoyed reading Decker, and i really think you will too. I would definitely read the other books in the series (buy links below) I give A. D. Ellis’s Decker 3.5 cups.
Decker has everything that he could ever want, he has moved back home with his brother & cousins after finishing college, he is running the family business and things are falling into place. But Katie is about to bring that all falling down and she will test him. Katie knows what she wants and she wants Decker but she knows that things will be weird as she used to go out with his twin Sawyer. Decker wants her so badly but firstly she loves his brother & they work together so she is off limits right? Katie makes it known that she will always love his brother but she wants him. They have found each other and they can see a future together but there is someone out there that wants to destroy Decker & his family and if Katie is in the way she will need to be taken care of. Can they work together to find that person or will Decker push Katie away and lose her for good or will Katie stand her ground and fight for what she wants? A great read that gives you a glimpse into the family & its extended members and how they all fit together. A well written story that has a great easy flow and once you get to know who everyone is it is all good. I was lucky enough to get a copy in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley. Can't wait to see what the other boys are up to
I was asked to read this because I haven't read any of the others in this series. WOW!! 2 brothers and 2 cousins are coming back to their home town after college to help take over the family business, a center for people in the town to play sports or paint. Each of the guys have majored in something separate to help the business grow. Decker is going to run the show, and knows hes going to need an assistant. Katie grew up with the guys, but when she applies she puts her full name, so when Decker calls her he has no idea who hes talking to, but is instantly drawn to her. When they finally meet face to face the attraction grows for both, but because Katie had dated Decker's twin brother, she was off limits. Katie, being the perfect match pushes the relationship. When things start going wrong at the center, they team up to figure out what is going on, until a threat is made against Katie. Will Decker's need for control ruin what they have built? Or is their love enough to help them survive?
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review OMG! This is the first in the Torey Hope series that I have read, and I must say, it will not be the last. A.D. Ellis, you had me rolling in every emotion possible with this story. This was one of the most heart-warming, gut wrenching stories I have read in a long time. I loved the fact that, even though the story has an obvious hero and heroine, it also has many other "main characters" that we hope to read about in the near future. You have a gift of creating your characters with true characteristics that allow us to believe and feel in our hearts, that this could actually be based on a real life experience. It was impossible to not feel the love and webbing of a true family entity, along with all of the heartache and pain that they have experienced over the years. I truly loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good tear jerking love story. A word of warning though, make sure you have the box of tissue handy...you will need it.
I met A.D. Ellis on an online book club and have since devoured all her books! The Torey Book series is amazing. I loved all the characters dearly! Then she decided to give us the children's stories and I was giddy with excitement! Decker is the first of the children's book and she did not disappoint.
In Decker we get to see the boys all grown up and ready to move forward with their lives. Back at Torey Hope, they begin to put their plans in place to grow the Center that was and continues to be a big part of the entire family. In comes Katie Turner, the new assistant manager under Decker.
Decker needs control in all things. His life is carefully planned and his future is set. But Katie turns his life upside down. Then things begin to go horribly wrong and Decker and Katie must decide if they are really meant to be together. Is it all worth it?
This was a great read and I cannot wait for the rest of the boys stories to be told. I would recommend all of her books!
A.D. Ellis has exceeded all expectations with this new book. I have read and really enjoyed the 4 books in the “A Torey Hope Novel” series but this first book in the “Torey Hope: The Later Years” series took it to the next level. You don’t need to have read the first Torey Hope series before reading Decker, she gives just enough background on who’s who and what the Center is before the story begins (I still recommend reading them though because they are great books). But if you have read the first series you know that A.D. Ellis is not afraid to incorporate sensitive subject into her stories and I’m glad she has continued to do so in this spin-off series. This is a solid story full of strong characters, humor, romance, angst and a bit of mystery thrown in for good measure. I can’t wait for the next 3 books in this series to come out. A.D. Ellis is to contemporary romance what Stephen King is to Mystery/Thrillers.
This tells the story of all the kids from the original Torey Hope series (mainly of Decker, the oldest of them) and what becomes of them as they live their lives.
Graduation has come and Decker, his twin brother and cousins have decided to move back to Torey Hope to continue working on the The Center. They’re going to need help so the "Now Hiring" ads are put out, and little does Decker realize that someone from his brother's past will become someone important in his life.
When this couple came together and worked together, I could feel the sexual tension building, not knowing when it was going to burn up my tablet. When they finally give in, they think they are in the clear until someone starts to harass them wanting to break them up… A.D. Ellis did an excellent job keeping under wraps who it was, and I have to say, that individual belongs in the loony bin! ~ Kara, 4 Sweet, Sexy stars
Kate I think loved to rev Decker's engine from time to time, “Decker, I’m wearing the same outfit I’d wear if I was with all four of you guys. I’m not purposely trying to make anything harder.” With a smirk and a wink." The primal urges start to come out when Kate's around especially the things she tells him, “I’m going to need another effing cold shower...” Rolling to his back, rubbing his hands over his face, he blew out a deep breath . “I’m not sure if that bit of information makes sharing a bed with you tonight easier or harder.” I loved that Decker's walls started to fall the deeper he got in with Kate, “seriously, Bug? Giving me a hard-on before my Grandma opens the door? Not. Cool.” He smacked her a** just as Cindy Morgan opened the door." I liked this book Decker was funny when he lost his cool.
This was a fabulous journey back to Torey Hope! Getting to know Decker & the boys was quite amusing & fun! Katie is written strongly & I loved her, too. : ) There's a bit of a whodunit involved & lots of humorous moments. And lots of love!!
The only thing that took this down a notch for me was the "seemingly obligatory breakup" portion. On one hand I got it, but on the other it felt like it dragged out a bit too long. So, that hindered my enjoyment a little, but others might not have the same issues w/ that particular plot device! I fully admit I'm extremely picky about any sort of break-up portion in a story!
All in all, this is one of my favorite stories, and I'm looking forward to more! :)
