A: I grew up watching movies like Indiana Jones and The Goonies. Those movies were so fascinating to me. As a kid, I always wanted to be an adventurer that discovered ancient treasures, not for the financial wealth, but because I always thought, and still think, it must be so amazing to find something that someone left hidden hundreds or thousands of years before. At that moment, you are the first person to see that artifact in a long time. I also love suspense action fiction stories, terrorism novels and television shows, and especially enjoy a good thriller about conspiracies and secret societies. Jack Reacher, Jason Bourne, Jack Ryan, are all pulp heroes I can root for. It seemed logical to make Sean Wyatt like one of those guys, but one that also has a background in history, making him the Indiana Jones of action adventure thrillers.
Q: There are several books in the Sean Wyatt series. In what order should they be read?
A: The first three are a trilogy, but you can read them out of order if you really want to.

Goodreads says two stars means "it was ok," so that's what it gets. This book was okay, but it's not great by any means. Clearly, the author has fans, but I can't count myself among them. This short story is of the genre where super-agents save the world from catastrophe. Fine. I like such things as a fun distraction.
In this case, however, the author lacks the technical knowledge to really pull this off credibly. Part of the story is science fiction, so he can write whatever he wants, but a large part of it relies on technical facts that apparently are beyond the author's knowledge. It's like someone who has watched lots of TV and movies decided he could write books without further study or personal knowledge of the subject. He gets both historical & current-day facts and technical details wrong, and that's just annoying. Such errors undermine the entire story (at least if you have the correct information yourself--it signals that you're reading the work of someone who hasn't done his homework).
Also, his writing doesn't flow well. As opposed to writers whose style moves, his is harder to read. Not terrible, but not the work of a really good author. For such a short book, reading it was laborious. I even found relatively simple words like "belied" that he misused. That's annoying. It reflects poorly on both the author and whatever editor(s) he had.
If you like his books, then by all means enjoy! But if you haven't read anything by this author, I'd suggest you keep moving. There are far better choices out there!

OK, but......
Mr. Dempsey knows almost nothing about the Navy or SCUBA diving. A Mark V is a boat not a ship, no one would survive cold water in a wetsuit. A dry-suit is required. Hypothermia would have set in within minutes and death shortly after. There's absolutely no way in the world that one person could make a submarine move. In 1945 any Nazi U-Boat would have been sunk on sight, not followed. Either a torpedo fired or deck guns brought to bear would have done it. Hell , a Civil Air Patrol plane sunk a U-Boat off the coast of Florida. There is something "off" with the whole story, can't put my finger on exactly what. Nice try tough.

An. ED. SWAT. Mystery Adventure (SWAB - 6)/The German High Commands Escape
ED. has. penned the sixth chapter in his World History Lesson, which contains the background of the German High Command's Escape into South America. ED. Has worked in and around the facts, but concentrates on the German U-Boats escape with European Rare Pictures, Jewelry and Gold. The total number of the super-subs was alleged to be three. However, it was later proven there were seven. One of the Submarines supposedly carried the "Spear of Destiny" which was used to spear Christ on the cross. The person in possession was supposed to "gain immortality". The way this author writes among fiction and fact is amazing. One thing the Allies feared the most was the medical I formation gained from human experiments by the Germans. This is Chapter 6 in the ED. World History lesson. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

I really liked the story and if the writing had been better, I would have given this book a 5 star rating. The author's need to describe the scene in way too much detail for no particular reason was really annoying. When the main character walks into a room and then the reader is told that there is a brown table, a green pottery vase and a picture of a mountain on the wall, it really detracts from the story line. There are ways to incorporate descriptions of a setting far more artfully and when there is a reason to do so.
Also so the world is in danger and he knows who the bad guy is and does not report it to he boss. You now he is going to survive but he goes into a fight of no return and not a soul knows who the bad guy is, except him?????????????

If Only I’d Read This Sooner...
I had high hopes for this novel due to the ratings it has received on Amazon. Unfortunately I found the protagonist unbelievable, the twists in the story transparent and the rest of the characters completely one dimensional. I didn’t feel on the edge of my seat or any sense of urgency to get to the next page. If I had read this a few years ago perhaps I would have been more impressed with it however having read novels by Andy McNab and others who write about the world of secret agents or teams fighting terrorists it doesn’t stand up to other books of this genre in my opinion.

Sean Wyatt has returned to government service. Still chasing Dufort (see The Norse Directive for that story), he is pulled away to follow leads regarding a German U-boat from WWII that reportedly was carrying a powerful device.
If you've read any in this series, you know how this is going to go. Nothing new here other than the names and locations.
These books are family friendly other than mild violence that is expected with this genre.

Interestingly - another agent working for a clandestine group alongside government. This one is more like a civilian MI5/6 organisation, even down to the code names (numbers) Sean Wyatt, formerly Five is no longer 'on the books' but still works (doubly) covertly for Axis and is now known as Zero. The action moves from North Africa to Germany, Switzerland, Poland and finally Argentina as Zero tries to follow and rescue a kidnapped scientist.
A good introduction to a new series - and I have sveral books still to read before catching up! Good news indeed.

Can Sean do it on his own?
Sean's ingenuity and abilities are amazing. Or is it just lots of luck and timing? This time Sean is on his own to save a damsel in distress and find a scientific apparatus invented by the Nazis. Very goid story showing off more of Sean's abilities, quick thinking, skill sets and luck. Great job, holds your interest and incorporates bits of historical information. Thank you.

Ends Abruptly
Great story, very enjoyable, when they just suddenly pull the rug out from under you and end the story. Personally I really hate when they do that. It feels rather as if the writer had a word count to meet rather than a story to tell. The sudden ridiculous ending rather ruined the whole book for me. I think I will wait awhile on my next adventure with Sean and Tommy.

This was fun to read. It is sort of a poor mans James Bond. The hero even has a zero number and a license to kill. Unfortunately the author is no Ian Fleming. The story is light and amusing. It flows along quickly. Sadly the mystery, supposedly unsolved for 70 years, could have been solved in thirty seconds by a five year old. That said I enjoyed reading this book.

Probably the weakest entry into the series so far. Theres the usual great action and adventure sequences that I've come to know from Ernest and his books but there was also a lot of repetition. Almost feel as though this story alone was unnecessary and didn't need to be apart of the Wyatt saga. Lets put this one behind us and bring on the next one.

A short adventure actioner in which Sean Wyatt seeks to stop a terrorist organization from gaining a powerful sci-fi type of weapon while trying to save the life of a scientist who was kidnapped to help bring the weapon to fruition. Stretches credibility awful thin, but still entertaining and fun as always.

A horror from Nazi Germany, a device called DieGlocke, which was a mind control device. A good story was woven around the facts, rather true or false. The things Sean is able to do, is highly unlikely, though it adds to

Two great books in a row; I can't believe the good luck that I'm having. A spy novel with heart stopping excitement, and the hero lived to tell about it. The twist at the end was a surprise to me; it hadn't even occurred to me that a twist like that would happen.
No romance in this one, but with all the bullets flying around, I didn't miss it. Definitely a good read.

1-5 were grand stories, 6th not as good
I’m not sure if it was Sean by himself or the steps the others went through but was missing. The story was good, Nazis, or the strange prologue. Was great reads, I just expected more from Mr. Dempsey because he wrote better. His characters weren’t as in-depth as his first 5 books. I’ll still try to continue on his series … We’ll see!

Fun book but least favorite
Now I have read all the Seam Wyatt series. This one was my least favorite and that is way I only gave it three stars. Sure glad I didn't start with this one. I will keep reading the series though for I really like these books.

Ernest Dempsey puts a great story together, the writing is fast paced with a great cast both good and bad. When he throws Sean Wyatt in the mix, get ready for the action. This book will not disappoint.

Another great book by Dempsey
Ernest Dempsey keeps me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next. I found myself doing internet searches about the places and the possible weapon. Once again be does an amazing job of weaving history and fiction.

A gung-ho, Cussler style hero who does struggle some but never puts his foot wrong. Action packed from start to finish, it will keep you flipping the pages. Just don't expect anything unusual from him.

Great story
I found this book offered a fast paced plot, interesting locations and of course Nazis along with the theme of an wonder weapon that might be able to tamper with the basic fabric of the universe. What was there not to like? Nothing.

Great story
This is an interesting story plot dealing with mysteries surrounding an Nazi artifact. Sean who is on his own, jumps around various locations until he ends up in Argentina and here is where is action heats up. You won't be disappointed so enjoy the book.

History and intrigue
Ernest Dempsey brings historical reality and fiction together believably and with great imagination. Sean Wyatt mange’s to save the day and do in the bad guys at the last minute as always. Enjoyable reading.

Exciting novel!
This book is book is full of action as Sean goes back to work for the government and takes on a new assignment. It is s page turner and is clean having no profanity.
