"My name is Benjamin Dragon. I have a gift. Scratch that. I have more than one. It's something I guess I was born with. Sure it sounds cool, but everything's changed. How do you go to school like a normal kid when you're ten and you can lift boulders with your mind or heal people with a touch?
Now things are really bad. I got home and my parents weren't there. I waited. They're still gone. I have to find them."
Follow Benjamin as he searches for his parents and finds his legacy. Along the way he'll have to deal with his peers, adults and the ever present danger of evil Destructors.
C. G. Cooper is the USA TODAY and AMAZON BESTSELLING author of the CORPS JUSTICE novels, several spinoffs and a growing number of stand-alone novels.
One of his novels, CHAIN OF COMMAND, won the 2020 James Webb Award presented by the Marine Heritage Foundation for its portrayal of the United States Marine Corps in fiction. Cooper doesn't chase awards, but this one was special.
Cooper grew up on a steady diet of Dungeons & Dragons and the travels of a Navy family.
Upon graduating from the University of Virginia with a degree in Foreign Affairs, Cooper was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps and went on to serve six years as an infantry officer. C. G. Cooper's final Marine duty station was in Nashville, Tennessee, where he fell in love with the laid-back lifestyle of Music City.
His first published novel, BACK TO WAR, came out of a desire to link back to his time in the Marine Corps. That novel, written as a side project, spawned many follow-on novels, several exciting spinoffs, and catapulted Cooper's career.
Cooper lives just south of Nashville with his wife, three children, and their German shorthaired pointer, Liberty, who's become a popular character in the Corps Justice novels.
This is another book that I struggled to rate. If I were to rate this just on this one book. I'd probably give it 3 stars. It was fun, but it wasn't... enough. I think all 3 150-ish page books in the trilogy should have been combined into one book. With that in mind, this was an enjoyable middle section of the story! So, I'm giving this a 3.75 which I will round up to 4 stars!
Once again, Carlos Cooper has taken a break from the hard charging exploits of the Cal, Daniel, and the rest of the Corps Justice warriors to release his "inner 10-year-old boy". This book is a continuation of The Chronicles of Benjamin Dragon, the first book being The Awakening. The characters are quite believable and the continuing growth and maturation of Benjamin, as he assumes his place in the world, is fascinating. Although it is intended for the YA audience, I am sure it will be a hit with older readers as well. I believe the mark of a good author is how much he makes you care about the characters in his stories, as they face the consequences of their actions. This story will fire your imagination and make you remember those days when you "knew" anything was possible. In the interest of candor and full disclosure, I was a Beta reader for this book, but my review was in no way influenced by that fact. I love this book so much, I am buying copies for each of my grandchildren and I will use it in my English classes for adult GED students.
The saga continues for Benjamin Dragon. He is a 10 year old boy who has developed superpowers. He and a group of peers struggle to master those powers. Most of the other kids only have one skill. But Benjamin is not like the rest. He has all three within him. Join Benjamin and his team as they work on honing those powers and go on an adventure.
Once again C. G. Cooper has my vote for an original fantasy series. All I can say now is, "I WANT MORE NOW!!", please. Again the characters come alive. This is now one of my favorite adventure series. Please keep Benjamin alive by MORE books. Great job, bravo!!!!!!!!
Benjamin has three gifts that no one else holds. He's only ten years old and the weight of the world's survival depends on him. He has his close friends. Pre adolescents, but as wise as any adult. Sometimes wisdom is separate from age. Benjamin is a healer, a grower, a destructor and now the mystic. The destructor can be the keepers of peace or the destroyers of mankind. Everything that evokes evil is now starting to rise. Another excellent read in this series!Enjoyed immensely!!
I enjoyed this book. It's format seems predictable, but there are many surprises. I can't wait to read the next one in the series. That's all for now, I have another book to read. 😄
Sorry. Not exactly adult, but this is a great tale!! I really enjoy the myths and fables from the many ancient to modern cultures of our world. Greeks &Romans look out!!!
Turned into a few hour read. Got waaay into it. Looking forward to chapter 2. This is nothing like his other books. Well maybe Benjamin could be compared, loosely, to Daniel.
Benjamin and a group of 10 year old gifted children are taken to Italy for advanced training. His group of 5 proves themselves to be highly competent and are assigned a mission which comes with many twists and turns. A real page turner and exciting read.
Good old Benjamin may only be ten years old, but he's starting to act more like two hundred years old. Wise way beyond his years, this is a fun to read story of a boy coming of age and accepting the fact that he is 'very' different than everyone else.
It was a bit too Smashie and Nicey in the first person. "You know, a lot of people say I'm the new Jesus because I'm so great, but I don't really like to talk about that."
If you enjoyed the first book this one is even better regardless of your age. Everything gets ramped up to a higher level of intensity and urgency. The stage is set well for the continuation story. I highly recommend this story.
Fast paced read. Finished it in one sitting. It was really good. We got to learn a lot more about the characters and what motivates them. Now we have dad listening to a ten year old. Fascinating.
