We read the 50 shades trilogy last summer as part of a book club. Upon completion, I remember all of us saying "Wouldn't it be great if E.L James rewrote the books from Christian's perspective?" I mean, let's face it... Christian is a WAY more interesting character than Anastasia. Even through the original series we learn more of Christian's background and motives than we ever learned about Ana. She was rather flat and boring in comparison. So a friend told me about GE Griffin, and how she had completed a full rewrite of the trilogy from Christian Grey's point of view. The books were released for free through her website, and I understand she's recently published an original novel unrelated to her (I suppose we should call it fan-fiction?) writing. Anyway, I enjoyed this book, and look foreword to reading the other two installments, and I'd like to share a few of my favorite parts. (I didn't flag for spoilers because this is a rewrite from a different POV, but all of the events stay the same from the original. But if you're concerned about me spoiling anything for you, please stop reading now. Thank you.)

1. Christian's inner monologue. While not quite as humorous as the whole "inner goddess/snarky subconscious" from the original, I enjoyed the little thoughts he tossed out. “So naïve, so appealing.”, “I'm just like a drug addict, and she's exactly my brand of heroin.”, “The intensity of my need for her consumes me, overwhelms me, scares me, thrills me.”, “This might be vanilla, but it is mind blowingly, fuckingly, amazingly good vanilla.”

2. The following quote, which so completely sums up my personal feeling on the 50 Shades Trilogy - “This is a gentle beginner’s introduction to BDSM.” I love that Christian acknowledges this, because far too many people got the wrong idea about BDSM from 50 Shades of Grey. I'm all for expanding one's sexual horizons, but 50 Shades failed to accurately encapsulate a BDSM lifestyle in the same way that a housefly fails to soar alongside an eagle.

3. The chapters of "eternal darkness and perpetual night." Ana cried and withered away. Christian suffers, examines his feelings, learns, and grows from the experience. As I said before, Christian is a WAY more interesting character, and I greatly preferred his POV on the breakup.

So... It's still too early to claim wether or not I prefer GE Griffin to EL James, but I'm certainly enjoying everything so far. I know theses books haven't been linked to the author as of the date of this review, so I wanted to provide a link to the free books on her website. Enjoy!

The Blog goes chapter to chapter, but you can also download PDF versions of the books here:

http://christiangrey50shades.blogspot...

The link contains all three books from Christian's perspective, plus a book from Grace Trevelyan-Grey's POV. Since this is Fan-Fic, the books will stay free and unpublished in the traditional sense. That being said, G.E. Griffin is wonderfully talented, and if you enjoy these books, you should check out her original series, Starr Fated.

Cheers!

I started reading this Meet Fifty Fanfic when it came out and each chapter reels you in! GE does not disappoint, in may ways I actually enjoyed this MORE than FSoG. I loved getting to see all the tiny tidbits missed from FSoG. This is probably the best fanfic I have ever read and you should read it also!

I did try my best to avoid the great hype around the movie premiere for a few weeks, but since my husband also read (and almost liked!-he says), the trilogy, I found my self sitting at the cinema on a Friday evening. Let me tell you, that was painful. What an utter awfully wooden rendition of a book that I had enjoyed quite a lot. It was really, really bad. Cringe-worthily bad. I will be the first one to admit that the book, while very entertaining, was no literary masterpiece. Still, compared to the movie, it almost seems so.

Coming out of the cinema, and with that huge cliffy at the end, I felt I needed to re-read the books (to scratch the itch, so to say). So I did. And then I found a link to this re-working of the story, from Christian's mind, no less. Whoah! Gleefully rubbing my hands, I got to it, and I devoured it all in a train trip from London to Yorkshire. And what a surprise it was: it was much better than the original!!!!!

So this is a first for me, a kind of novelty. A full male POV of a previous trilogy, but the catch here is that it is written as fan fiction by someone else. Without getting into the value ethical questions about doing something like that, and understanding that the story still belongs to E.L. James, G.E. Griffin has done here something rather astute. Well, Christian to me was always a much meatier character than Anastasia, a lot darker and complex, and here we have a direct line to his thinking patterns, it was pure joy to read. The main things that made me enjoy this slightly more than the original story were:

The very silly and annoying inner goddess and subconscious in Ana's mind are obviously nowhere to be seen, since we are in Christian's
mind, not in Ana's (thank God for that, they were what made me give the first book 4 stars, not 5).

We get the privilege of attending some of Christian's therapy sessions with Dr Flynn. This was great. Totally enjoyable and really well executed by the author. I found myself really liking and relating to Flynn as a fellow therapist. He had not been given enough material in the original books, and in this one, I though he was a great therapist, really, really spot on and good technique too. Well done here, G.E. Griffin!

Through these therapy sessions and through having a better understanding of what goes on in his head, Christian's change of heart about his sexual proclivities, and his willingness to refrain from the more extreme of his sadistic behaviours makes a lot more sense and it is a lot more believable. This had also been one of my major misgivings about the internal consistency of Christian's character in the original book, his swift apparent change in a very short space of time and with hardly any intuitive justification. His reasoning and motives are better explained here, as you have a direct line to his inner monologue. And he does grow and heals a lot through the three books.

We also get to "know" what was going on in his mind during some interesting moments in the narrative.

I have continued reading the other two books in this male POV during a short holiday, and I have also enjoyed them, despite finding them a tad repetitive, although this is my own fault for reading them after re-reading the original trilogy.

Just hoping that by completely over-dosing on Fifty Shades I will manage to stay away from the next two movies, but I very much doubt it, anyway.

Ah, and I will probably be reading G.E. Griffin's first "real" book (Starr Fated) too.

I've been always dreaming to know CG's point of view. This wasn't so Christian at first, but eventually, the narration grew to be just like him. ;) I am hoping to see similar work for Edward Cullen in the future. Is there someone who continued Midnight Sun for Stephenie Meyer? that would be as lovable as this. Thumbs up!

This is one of the worst novels I have ever read. There is much better intrigue, drama, and sex out there than this poorly written trash. I am so disappointed on so many levels that this is such a popular book. I will not be reading the other two.

This was inside the head of Christian and it was written from his pov. Although this wasn't written by EL James, this is totally believable and I thinks if EL James wrote his POV it would not stray too far from these books. I enjoyed them.

I loved being inside Christian's head! Ever since i read the series i have always wondered about how he felt at the end of the first book and throughout the other books. Such a wonderful creative author.

I enjoyed this vision best. I got to really understand why Christian Grey was so fifty shades of f***** up. the story was much clear by knowing exactly how he was thinking and see his point of view instead of just seeing it as Anastasia did.

I really enjoyed reading the story from christian's prospective. He is a very confused guy and experiencing his internal struggles was really something. I actually cried. I couldn't help it. At the end when Ana left and he was standing on his balcony and then with Taylor and Gail. I loved it. It had it's flaws where the writing was concerned. But It was o.k with me.:)

Christian and Ana... 3.5 stars!!!

While I'm an avid 50 Shades fan, and the original books are marked as my favourites of all time - I quite enjoyed this rendition by GE Griffin.

Woah.

I loved every single thing about this book. I love that despícate the fact this book isn’t from E. L. James, it still feels like it has that essence. I also loved that it lets you into Christian’s thought process, it gives you enough info to deduce why he thinks/acts the way he does. I wonder why he wasn’t the main character of the books, why we didn’t get to read from from his POV rather than Ana’s, as it is far more interesting.

I love that it even delves into some scenes that were just barely mentioned, it gives you an insight into what it was like in certain situations.

I fucking loved this book.

Ok so, I have A LOT of feelings about this book. And not a lot of them are good.

Trigger warnings: Abuse, manipulation, discussion of rape, stalking

The last 40 pages? Excellent.

The rest of it was more blatant with the abuse and manipulation.

I want to talk about the last 40 pages first (well 40 pages according to my .pdf reader).

This is the only case in which I actually LIKE Christian Grey and Dr. Flynn.

Flynn actually points out to Grey his fuck ups with Ana and starts to put him on the right track (now if only it could have happened in the original book and he stuck to it maybe I might like the subsequent two books).

Christian starts looking at his behaviour and realising that hey yeah he used every tool of manipulation to get Ana to do what HE wanted her to do rather than what she wanted to do. And he starts actively questioning himself as to if that's what he wants. He still stalks her which I'm not very cool with for multiple reasons but apart from that, he starts turning into a semi decent human being.

Now, for the rest of it. The scene after she "jokingly" leaves him where he breaks in and rapes her is explained that Kate answers the door heavily distracted and lets him in (which if I remember from the book so I could be remembering wrong since it's been a while since I last read it, doesn't happen that way cause Kate didn't even know he was there). Of course, like most abusers, manipulators, and rapists he justifies away everything he does to her and doesn't even call it rape because he has to show her what she's going to be missing.

I will give the author credit as he does think to himself how best to use his sexual prowess to best manipulate her into signing the contract as I would be willing to bet was actually going on in the author's head when she (James) originally wrote it. Even if he doesn't admit it to himself until the last 40 pages he is actively thinking in this book how to actively manipulate her into doing what he wants.

I'm giving it 2 stars rather than 1 just because of the last 40 pages. Had they not happened, I would have given it 1 star.

ok so before anything else, let me just say! AHHH I FREAKING LOVED THIS SERIES! i had read the fsog series, and at the end of the final book it had small chapter based on Christians pov on some events in the book. That had me hooked, so i went searched whether, EL james had written the a book based on Christians POV. So then i came across this fan fiction addition, i was a little skeptical at first as i had never actually read fan fiction before but OMG this was amazing. The writer had seemed to capture Christians character perfectly! i defiantly loved this series more than the originals book series. I mean i always wanted to know what was going through chistians mind the entire time i was reading fsog, how was it that Ana was so different to him from other girls, how his emotional feelings towards her was. Because Christains character isn't that open, meaning he doesn't pore his heart out to everyone. Reading the story from Christains POV made you experience all his emotions, the intensity of his love for Ana. It also made you understand his possessiveness over Ana and realise the reason behind all his crazy obsessive stalkerish side lol. I totally fell in love with christians character, his intensity, vulnerability and passion towards ana made my heart melt.

If you are looking for "Grey," I'm having a FSoG 4 book bundle giveaway that includes "Grey." You'll want to read these fan fic versions as well.

To enter to win FSoG trilogy plus "GREY," go here:

http://arethafreak.blogspot.com

I've read the FSoG trilogy and "Grey."

Don't waste money on "Grey." This woman wrote the Christian point of view for all three books a while ago. You won't be getting anything new from EL James. I swear to you that G.E. Griffin has already written the same thing that E.L. James has written in "Grey." Gee, it's almost as if E.L. James plagiarized MORE fan fiction.

It's also just more affirmation that Christian Grey is a textbook narcissistic, abuser of women. It's damn near impossible to change that even hearing it from his POV.

Please note that this is NOT the book "Grey" by E.L. James. This is a fan fiction version of FSoG written from Christian's POV. Believe it or not, it's actually BETTER than "Grey" by E.L. James.

I never knew such a book existed where Christian's point of view (POV) has also been written regarding the entire triology. This one is not written by Fifty Shades writer, but by a different one. I must say Griffin has done a brilliant work on it.

Although I was aware that Christian Grey was a screwed up character, reading the first part from his side actually puts many things in to perspective. I know, I know, this writer's thinking might not be same as James, but at least Griffin has tried to do justice as much as possible. Credit should be given in every way.

At least in this part, I got to know Doctor Flynn in a better manner. From James view, I could never really understand Flynn's character. Through this writer, I was able to understand him and know that he plays a significant role in Christian's life.

As far as Elena is concerned, NOPE. I HATED HER IN JAMES BOOK, I HATE HERE TOO. END OF DISCUSSION.

Overall, this part from Christian's POV was a good read.

I chose this for my weekend read and it didn't disappoint. I actually prefer the book better from Christian's POV. It gives it a more masculine touch. I liked E.L James' version although I felt that given Anna's lack of experience with anybody, it tended to be kind of biased with no point of reference. Having read this version from an extra experienced guy's point, its more appealing and show that Christian was really into Anna, like for real, as compared to his past relationships and experiences. It gives that real sense of a growing fondness that develops into love without the parties involved really realizing it.

I think it actually is great to hear Christian's side of the story but at times I feel that he's not matured mentally even though he's supposedly this great business man. I did find out a few little things that I can't remember noticing when I read the Erica James books and it certainly adds to the story. As the original books came out a few years ago, some details are hard for me to remember, so I will just have to force myself to read them again. Ohh no. Such a hardship! If you enjoyed the original, this series is worth the read.

I enjoyed this book. It was funny and interesting to read Christian's POV.

One thing that I found to be an advantage or a disadvantage (depending on how you look at it) is the fact that it was written by another author, I found my original perception of Christian changed. There were times where his arrogance really showed and where I found myself thinking that he really is a sick and twisted individual.

Me parece una buena adaptacion a los personajes pero no se, siento que christian es como mas insensible y pervertido de lo que E. L James lo imagino .. sin embargo es divertida y sexy creo que es capaz de cautivar al lector.
