When food truck owner Maeve Kinkaid complains about the unresolved issue of Linda Zoz’s murder, no one seems to listen…except the killer.
Food truck owner Maeve Kinkaid can’t stop thinking about the unresolved murder of Linda Zoz. Maeve scrambles to unwrap some clues, but what she finds is a lack of witnesses and a pile of corpses. She has to get to the bottom of this hotpot of mystery before she becomes the next victim in a devilish conspiracy.
This was the third of three food truck mysteries, and I enjoyed them all. Luckily, I didn't find a huge number of errors, punctuation and grammar, but near the end I did come across a few that bothered me. A scuttle is something used with coal, it is not something a person does...perhaps the author meant scurried. The name of the company was NBG. When referring to it, the correct article to use would be "an" instead of "a." This mistake was made four times in a row. The most troubling was near the very end of the book when the author used axel instead of axle. I wanted to know how an automotive term suddenly jumped over to figure skating. These errors aside, I liked the characters and the story very much. I will read more books by this author because I want to know more about Land. I am fascinated by his quiet demeanor and secretiveness about his past. Just what did he do before he moved to America? What is his real background. Will Maeve ever be able to afford the second truck, and if so, what will happen with her relationship with Land? There are many different questions for which I am looking for answers. Keep up the good story-telling, but please pay a little more attention to choosing the proper word and please brush up a bit on you over-use of commas.
This one was very action packed. Conspiracy theories, snipers, bribes, a bomb.... There wasn't much going on with the food truck itself. Maeve can't get the murder of the health inspector Linda Zoz out of her mind. Especially when the suspect admits to all the other murders except that one. Danvers seems more of a jerk. I mean, I can't blame him for being irritated at some civilian playing at detective, but he was rude every time Maeve brought something to his attention. I like Land better anyway. :-) He opens up quite a bit in this book and, while there are still a bunch of mystery about him, we learn his is quite the badass!
I really enjoy this series. I just felt this one was... "harder". I like the quirkiness of supporting characters, which wasn't in this one. Still, I look forward to reading more of Maeve and Land.
Maeve became even more insufferable in this one. She's not actually a detective, her thought process makes no sense, and she acts like a middle school girl with her crushes. I'm done here and won't be continuing the series. At this point I don't even care what Land's background story is.
Too much chick likes boyS airhead stuff, not enough actual mystery, too murder she wrote without the actual satisfaction of a somewhat well written cozy/murder mystery, and I don't have overly high expectations of cozy mysteries to begin with. Didn't get around due to a move to reading the previously bought 1-5 set nor the 6-10 set, now really wish had just put off using my amazon gift cards for other books and waiting to get it all on kindle unlimited. 2.5 stars maybe? OK. The series is getting going now. Fewer grammatical/punctuation/word choice issues than in the previous two! Kendrick tends to ramble/repeat when she's writing Maeve's inner monologue...not sure if that's on purpose because she's portraying Maeve as a ditz or what.
Maeve is rather obsessed with the issues her aunt had with the food truck and Linda Zoz...and she finds herself in the thick of it. Land reveals some of his past, not without extensive prodding from Maeve, but still--they work together in a confined space for how many hours a day? How could they have lasted this long without a decent conversation? No wonder he wants his own truck! Maeve sees Danvers' true colors, too, when Danvers ignores her dilemmas while prepping for his mob trial. In the end, Maeve is much too nosy for her own good, nearly getting killed several times in this book alone! Will she learn? Who knows. At least we finally know the story behind the issues with her aunt's permit: it was all an elaborate plan to thwart a court trial! I would not have guessed Kendrick had that planned from book one.
This is a really good mystery. It ties into the first of the series in that it deals with one of the murders from that case - the one that the killer didn't cop to. In the process of discovering who killed the food Truck inspector, and why she wouldn't pass Maeve's aunt's truck, a whole bunch of other people end up in the crossfire, including herself and Land. Maeve learns a little more about Land, and has more questions than answers about Danvers than ever. Read it, and you'll see that Ms Kendrick really knows how to put together a good mystery!
Cute Mystery, short books but good story telling. I like the style of this series. This book (and series) is about a woman who inherits a food truck and finds herself a target in several crimes. Her chef is an ex military man who rarely says anything but you get the feeling he has romantic designs on our heroin or does he? looking forward to the next installment.
Maeve & Land are back trying to solve the mysterious death of the health inspector Linda Zoz. Wow it was captivating from the beginning! Loved learning more about the mysterious Land & seeing more into these characters lives! I'm hooked! Hope Ms. Chloe Kendrick has the next book out soon!!!
this is the 3rd installment in the series, they do need to be read in order for complete understanding since the stories continue on the same plot line. A food truck owner decides to investigate murders going on around her. needless to say her investigative skills pay off. the stories are cute, while unrealistic. entertaining murder mysteries.
I really like this series and can't wait for the next book. I'm surprised at how the author can shake things up to keep it interesting and that it's somewhat believeable how Maeve keeps getting in these situations.
This story runs after another and you need that other book to keep track of who is who. The story is simple but fun and certainly moo ices right along. I read it in one sitting .I suddenly came to the end with a start. I wasn't ready for the last chapter at all
#3 in the Food Truck Mysteries series. 1 and 2 were entertaining. #3 was so bad. It was all over the place and difficult. However, I purchased the 1-5 book package so I will continue on and see if it improves.
I really enjoyed this one. I can't wait for the next book. The two main characters are great . I like that he is a little mysterious and we have to keep guessing.
Great book. Loved the revelations on Jax and Land. The plot was well written and kept a steady pace. Thoroughly enjoyed the plot. Do not need to read in order to follow what is going on.
