Amba Yahaluwo

After reading Mr. T. B. llangaratne's Sinhala Novel "Amba Yahaluwo" I enjoyed it so much that I conceived a desire to translate it into English for the English reading public.
Even after a considerable lapse of time I am now happy that I was able to fulfil my desire. But if I had been able to translate it while Mr. Ilangaratne was living I would certainly have been happier then than now.
I thank my sister, Mrs. Tamara Kumari Ilangaratne for helping me to obtain permission to translate the book into English, and also for attending to matters regarding the publication of the book itself.

A simple read about social class, friendship and the importance of morality.

I think the problem I had was that it was very slow and not that much actually happened.

The book is a good social reflection - reflections on social structure and the shift of social-power was particularly interesting!

It's a good book about how friendships are of a variety and does not matter of who you look like to others but what matters is what is in your heart and what you true purpose for things are. It teaches the greedy to know that bad things will happen and the poor that miracles do occur. I think this book will provide as an inspiration to many people. Enjoy reading! :)
