A New Series from the Author of CURSE OF THE ALPHA!
Some heroes aren't born...they're built.

Westley Worthington has it all. Piles of money, good looks, a head for business, and a seemingly limitless supply of women who want to please him. And that's just the way he likes it. Until a brush with death causes him to rethink his priorities, and consider someone besides himself for the first time in his privileged life.

Cordelia Cross has never had it easy. Her duty to her family has her working as an assistant to a man she hates just to pay her sister's medical bills. When her arrogant boss alienates his last true friend, she finds herself promoted from schedule-managing coffee grabber, to the newest member of West’s inner circle.

Tempers, and passions, ignite as the two start spending time together, until a shocking accident puts their newfound attraction on ice. When West is faced with the toughest trial of his life, Cordelia helps him realize that he has all the tools he needs to be a force for justice.

Together, they must turn West into the hero no one ever thought he could be.

I was given this book as an ARC by talented Tasha Black. Its was very entertaining. I just love the characters in this book. Its full of action, conspiracy, humor plus its got some steamy scenes. You see Cordelia and West blossom in the book. Your heart goes out to goes to Edward. This is an awesome start to a series. I can't wait to read more.

Wellllll, it wasn't baaaaad. It just wasn't very good either. This is a romance above all else and I'm sorry, but it wasn't enough to carry the plot. Mostly because it wasn't at all developed and it was too diluted by the attempt at action/sci-fi. Plain Jane assistance works for jerk-face, womanizing boss and is inexplicably attracted to him. Jerk-face, womanizing boss can't figure out why his starlets no longer appeal and all he can think of is plain Jane assistant. That's pretty much it. It makes no sense. What's more, it's inferred that plain Jane assistant is smart and witty and capable, while all those other pretty, sexy, available women (read slutty, because that's the subtext) and by extension all other women are not. This makes me twitchy.

Then there's the attempt at a sci-fi, action plot. It fails almost completely because it's just too weak. The characters survival stretches credulity. His recover is almost instantaneous. His accomplishments inhuman, but worst of all we're not shown anything. I have this specific incident I want to use as an example, but it would be a spoiler. So lets just say someone does something impossible to save someone else. He tells that person to go, sacrificing himself. That's the plan, anyhow. Cut scene, end chapter. New chapter, he is giving someone a gift, culminating in the pseudo-sex scene symbolizing their forever union. We do not see the action. We do not know how he survived. We don't know what happened to the person saved. We don't know the aftermath. We don't know what happened to the ultimate villain, only the minion. We don't even know who the second person, who disappeared without mention, had been. What was the point of including any of it, if the author was going to skip all the important stuff? Honestly, the book would have been stronger if she had just written an office romance.

The writing itself is ok, for the most part. But it fails at times. For example, the hero does have some character growth, random as if feels at times. But this is part of how the author let the reader know about it. "West was deepening before her eyes - becoming less a caricature of a playboy and more of a man." Yep, got it. Thanks for making sure I didn't miss the fact. Head/desk.

So, again, it's not all bad, though I guess I made it sound like it was. There is a good side character, Dalton, and some obvious set up for future books. But it's just not really very good.

West (Westley) and Cord (Cordelia). (WARNING this is a cliffhanger)
Listened to on audio and the reader, Mason Lloyd does a great job.
West is a douche bag.
There's just no if and or buts about that. But people can change... can't they?
After pissing of his closest friend, Cord, who was his PA, is promoted to his right hand 'man'. Cord only works for him because she needs the money in a bad economy, but also because the *sswipe holds the keys to her sister's future.
West is actually a genius when it comes to finance, but has been a hedonist since his father went to jail for his part in the 2008 recession. His father's legacy hangs over his head like a darkly noxious cloud. But there's more (or less) to him than the press releases.
Cord finds herself drawn to him despite the awful way he treats people. It all comes to a head when he goes against his hedonist creed by making a decision that isn't in his best financial interest. And by underestimating his enemy.
He's left on the brink of death and no alternative but to reap what he's unknowingly sown. A super hero in the making? maybe... His altruistic decision has opened up a whole new world for him.

As I said above, it is a cliffhanger but I have every intention of finding where the story goes.

Reconstructed (Building a Hero, #1) by Tasha Black by Tasha Black

https://ladiikeiii.wordpress.com/2017...

Not sure what the book was really about even when I read the description lol. But my guess that it's about the guy Westley being a hero and falling in love with Cordelia. Even though Wes is stubborn he learns to be nice to Cordelia and her siblings and save the kid Shawn from the bad guy (mind you I don't even remember the guy name). It's not even a bad thing cause I don't care to remember lol. But end the end the book is actually good. I can't wait to check out book two. This my first time hearing about this author and reading her book. I thought the book was about a man being some type of animal or maybe a guy with like armor body. But I guess Wes accident was similar to my guess.

P. S.

The (#title) reminds me of the #disney movie "How To Build a Better boy'' (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3098874/)

Oh Wowza. I just knew for some reason I would not be able to put this book down. Read in one sitting and then having my fingers itching to write the review. That's how good this book is. Electrifying, sublime with a touch of breathlessness. This is a completely different world to what the author Tasha Black gave us in Tarker's Hollow and damn if it isn't just as, or more exciting. Westley, Westley, be still my beating heart. Never has an Alpha male Hero started off on such a wrong foot more than Westley, but man does he redeem himself! Cordelia , poor suffering soul. Responsibilities at home, a demanding job where she has to function even though she disapproves of her boss's way of life. And to top it all, she has to fight his allure and her attraction towards him. Please, please can I be Cordelia in my next life? We meet Dalton, solid, loyal and tortured. There is so much potential with this series, I can practically hear the Author's brain cogs turning. Each and every character is worthy of mention and can be merited with more expansion. Peter I'm sure is probably going to surprise us as the rest of the books unfold. In what way still remains to be seen. Not forgetting The Alpha Division. Now what tricks do they have up their sleeves. And with a cliffhanger like that........ I am expecting fireworks in the second instalment. I was graciously gifted this book in return for an honest review.

DNF..

Geez! I just finished a book where the hero was drop-dead gorgeous and the girl was “plump.” Now, I found another one. WTH? That pairing is not going to happen so why do authors keep writing it. Even Cordelia refers to herself as “a fat girl,” and West does everything imaginable to keep his body in perfect shape. Plus the fact that West’s greatest concern is his dick. He has 6 ballerinas come to his office, ready to take them all on then turns them all over to his friend, except for one, then makes his assistant Cordelia watch as one of the ballerinas start feeling up his HUGE bulge. Really? Yeah, like that’s a great confidence builder, bringing the “fat girl” out to see all the ballerinas “at work.” That was the stupidest thing I’ve ever read. And that was the way it was, boring and silly, until 50% and by then it was too late for me. West was soooo egotistical and self-centered I couldn’t even stand him and I couldn’t see myself ever liking him. I can appreciate all of you who just loved this book but it definitely wasn’t for me. I have to have some feelings, other than dislike, for my main characters.

There wasn’t any real description of sex at the point where I quit and the F-bomb was used 17 times.

As to the narration: He was just OK for me. His women’s voices were all right and sometimes he read with emotions and sometimes he didn’t.

Genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist

So Tasha Black fooled me. I thought this book was headed to cliche-ville, where the highly intelligent plain Jane executive assistant is secretly admired by her self-indulgent, playboy, jerk of a billionaire boss who happens to have a scrumptious body and dreamy eyes. And we did head there, for a little while. Then this book detours into manly sensitivity, altruistic intentions and painful loss, but all with a decidedly non-angsty tone. Emotions don't run too deep and nobody dwells on the negative.

This was a fun book, sci-fi lite, and contained the emotional investment equivalent to a super-hero movie. In fact, perpetual narcissist Tony Stark has a deeper, more agonizing love for Pepper Potts than we see between West and Cordelia. However, if you are looking for an amusing distraction and a quickly read story that features an egotistical, entitled and vain frat boy morphing into anyone's definition of a brave and selfless hero, then this book is just the ticket. Sadly, Cordelia is just window-dressing. Not even as influential as Pepper Potts.

3.5 stars rounded to 4. I am interested in reading the next book, which will be Edward's story.

I liked this book, I believe this was another erotica book. I know they had sex, a couple times. But still was good. That fool Wes was a idiot. But got the bullet from his heart once he spend those few hours with the girl Clauderia (forgot how to spell it lol). As I'm reading this, I'm wondering and thinking maybe someone is like a animal shifter and he's a hero but as I continue reading I'm thinking maybe he's a robot? I didn't get hero part until the accident. What Johnny Boy done to Wes was messed up. I felt bad for him. I know will be reading part 2 and 3. As my memory becomes clear I already realize I had part 3 minus part 2. Damn.

I absolutely LOVE Tasha's previous books, so when she said she was writing a Superhero themed series, I said BRING IT ON! OMFG I couldn't put it down! It's sooo different then her "Tarker's Hollow" series Curse & Fate, but you can tell it's writen by the same person. I started the book & was instantly drawn into the story, it wasn't as short as what I've previously read from Tasha, which surprised me, but it was a great surprise. If she'd cut this baby down I'm not sure if I could handle to wait!

At first I didn't really like West as a character, he's rich & treats everyone like they are objects, without feelings. On the other hand I did like Cordelia, she was kind, caring & put her family above her own wants & needs, she was selfless. Cordelia works for West, he makes her run after him all day long, even has her on call during the night, but not to far into the book West realises that Cordelia is smart & has ideas that would benefit his company....

'Reconstructed' is part of Tasha's NEW trilogy "A Billionaire Superhero Romance" & what a BANG the first book makes. I can't wait to read what comes next for the trilogy.

First of 3 books and #1 is free right now http://amzn.to/1O7T3JO.
For a self-centered billionaire to a hero, I loved it. Yes, he's not 100% there yet in book 1 but I'm sure he'll get there by book 3. The first book is a great start to a superhero type love story and for a short/free book, I loved it! I did the audio version for $1.99 and it was even better http://amzn.to/1XWYH3g.
Reconstructed has a BBW/smart as a tack/assistant turned wannabe lover as the heroine, a super sexy conceded alpha male to real life hero with bionic parts, his BFF/sidekick who's a military altered possible were-something, cute handicapped kids who show the alpha how to care for others and a disgruntled ex-employee/villain. What more do you want as a set up to a superhero love story?
Oh and for those that don't like a lot of heat, the first book has some flirting and a few references to his pants but that's about it. I have a feeling books 2 and 3 will turn up the heat.

I didn't want to read this book after a few pages. I thought I'm really not going to waste my time on a jerk who the h suddenly desires for his "alpha" presence, even though he's a dirtbag. But I hung on... and I'm glad I did.

I stayed more because of Edward Dalton, the side kick with a secret. When West reveals what happened to Dalton and how he rescued him I thought there might be hope for him. When he finds out the Military is behind what happened to Edward is the same military that hurt Dalton and makes a stand. When he falls from MedLabs and chooses top save the technology, I finally believed there was something in him that could be inspiring.

The change of West from beginning to end was profound and the secondary characters are awesome. I'm hoping for more Jess. Peter was the typical Weaselly thrown aside pal and that was sad to see.

Im intrigued to see where this goes and hopefully find out more about Alpha labs and Edward.

Ok. I can't. DNF at 29%
I don't like the characters, I find them too childish and don't like that kind of trait on all the people that appear in the story, from one character is okay, but all of them? Nope, I can't. I'm not enjoying the writing either, I feel it's a bit disjointed and jumps a little and the plot is a bit too lacking for my taste.
I would like to read something with engaging and strong MCs, and for me, this book is not working.
Maybe I will pick it up again or not. I don't know. I really was torturing myself, so I very much doubt it.
Not my cuppa this time.

I loved this book‼️ Cordelia is trying to support her family and to help get a cure for her sister. But working for the wealthy playboy is no picnic. Westley is just living day to day, he works to make money and goes thru women like candy. This is a wonderful story of a woman growing in her self esteem and a man learning what really matters. Recommend to all action romantic love stories. It is a stand alone with a HFN ending.

A very short (audio-)book, but felt like it contained two stories, one scifi and one romance, that didn't have time to be properly developed. I really liked the cyborg/superhero-part which sadly was the smaller of the two.

So this book exceeded my expectations and then some. I was not expecting much, but wow did I get blown away. This book was great! Fantastically written, great characters, interesting story. Despite the standard cliches, which at this point in writing stories is unavoidable, the author handled them very well! It was a bit predictable, but I think that's okay, it worked.

My notes:

“Hello, Alais. You’re a beautiful dancer.”

He didn’t actually know which fucking one she was. They all looked the same onstage and the whole thing had been boring as hell - one emaciated woman after another being tossed around by bored-looking guys in tights all set to classical music.

I died. This guy is such an asshole LOL. He is my spirit animal x'D

Still, it was probably better to fire her, just in case.

I'm crying, this guy is such a douchebag it's hilarious.

Some real props to the author though. It's a first for me, I believe, to find an asshole character written this way. He's both comedic in an ignorant way, and genuinely hurtful to others in a sympathetic way. That switch happened at the drop of a hat and it was very well written.

“Tell Dalton to bring back Starbucks,” he said with his finger on the button.

“Searching the web for Leonard Maltin,” came the response from the tiny speaker.

“No,” West corrected, speaking more slowly. “Tell Dalton to bring back Starbucks.”

“There are eight Starbucks locations in your area. Would you like directions?”

The humor in this book is gold.

“Corporal Gibson, She gestured to the man standing behind Major Andrews.

Missing end quote. (Another was missing later on as well.)

Was that why she had always felt an affinity with [spoiler]? Had she somehow sensed the bits of canine DNA floating around in his system?

Okay, that was both awkward and weird, like what? XD

Little sad about the cliche of the His perspective was interesting, to say the least, but...I don't know, just rubbed me the wrong way. Everything else up to this point felt so strong, I was just a little disappointed with this easy out. Still probably the most interesting character regardless. :)

I'm a little mixed on the ending. Don't get me wrong, it was great, but the sudden change in scene (of imending doom to sex) was rather jarring. At first I thought it was a dream or something until it was clarified. I wish that missing chunk had stayed in. Intense to calm at the drop of a hat was just... :/

My only other issue is with Cordelia. Her character was the flattest of all of them (ironic, given her breast size, sigh), and it's an annoying stereotype to see a woman complain about her weight. (Give us some confident ladies, authors! That's not a bad thing!) I'm also a little confused why her conversation with Peter (I believe was West's best friend's name? Oops, forgot) didn't go anywhere. It was never addressed again, she never pondered over it, it was just kind of dropped. (All the men vying for her was a little Mary Sue-ish. Like, it's understandable given the characteristics of the men, but still... x'D)

Also, West as a nickname for Westley? So odd to me, I've only ever heard Wes, haha.

All in all though, this book worked well for me. I think I just happened to be in the right mood for it too, which was coincidentally great timing.

If you're into a bit of harmless cliche sci-fi/superhero with a side of romance, consider checking it out.

I was first introduced to Tasha Black with her Curse of the Alpha serial. Each episode was quick, crazy, and had a steamy scene (most of which I lowered the volume for fear someone would hear the book). I got Reconstructed for free through Amazon and wanted to see how a superhero fiction worked.

You see, I'm a bit of a Marvel fan. I love superheroes, not as much as a good number of fans, but I like the story dynamics of a good superhero story. I hadn't even thought to read a superhero like book, but when I found this I said: Why not?

Reconstructed is a very quick read. A one day read. In fact, according to Audible, it was just under five hours. If you have five hours to spend, you have time to start and finish this book. The writing is simple and the story grabs you. I was rooting for West and Cord for their separate reasons. I was excited to see who the baddie in the current book was and Black introduced enough to whet your mouth for more.

There are steamy scenes of romance, but not to the point of the Curse of the Alpha serial. That one felt raunchy and a good romp of a read, this one was a fun read with a bit of dessert in the end. I will definitely be grabbing book 2 and book 3. I'm loving the superhero world Black has created.

I really enjoyed this story

Cordelia worked at a zoo until it flooded and closed down. Now she is the personal assistant to a playboy and owner of Worthington Enterprises. West does what he wants when he wants. He took over his father’s company after his father was arrested and put in jail. One of the companies Worthington owns is a Medical Prosthetics and Cordelia has a special interest in it. West sees its losing money and wants to sell but Cordelia shows him all the good it’s doing. After all the women he’s been through there’s something about Cord that gets to him. He asks her to dinner but doesn’t show up. She is devastated until she finds out he’s been in a horrible accident. The only way to save him is to use some of the inventions they’ve been working on. Will West make it or will Cordelia lose him before they get to see where their attraction is going?
First time reading this author ( I believe). A real page turner with a little steamy scenes thrown in. Action that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat. Millionaire boss to lovers story.

Westly Worthington was a wealthy man who fired many employees, but his assistant Cordelia seems to have his respect. Cordelia dreamed of Westly, how he smelled of the ocean and his radiant eyes. The phone rang, "I need you. You're coming in now."
He brought her into work on a company called 'Med-Pro'. It was a medical prosthetics company. He was very upset because no one told him the company was doing badly, loosing money. She did not know why it was so very important for them to be working in the middle of the night. He pulled a chair on his side of the desk and actually wanted to know her thoughts. She was more than okay with it. This company would soon become very important to them both. The next morning their relationship had changed. He told her to hire a new assistant because he would be needing her input on more projects and she would not have time to do both jobs. This made her very happy.
By the way, why is this book called reconstructed? Who and why is there going to be a hero? I wanted to know when I read the title? I received this book for an honest review.

Westley Worthington is a very wealthy man who gained his wealth from his father who obtained it by ill gotten means. Cordelia Cross is Westley's personal assistant, it's her job to make him happy and get him whatever he wants regardless of what time of the day or night it might be. Cordelia is not pleased when she has to arrange parties for Westley so he can be a massive womanizer and all around pig. Cordelia needs this job so she can pay for her sister's medical bills and Westley's company has a division that can help her sister. Unfortunately, Westley is thinking of selling the division so Cordelia does her best to point out how much the division can help others so he won't sell. I love this book, their is so much going on, an accident, a fire, trauma, espionage, hate, revenge, greed, terror, threats, kidnapping and all with a side of romance. The characters are great, you love to hate Westley. The story is original and the plot keeps you guessing what is going to happen next and who is behind all the problems.

Bad boy billionaires aren't my usual choice in romance, nor is sci-fi, but put them together in the way Tasha Black does (and give me the audiobook version) and I was drawn into the story. I liked the way the landscape of this universe is described while moving the story forward. West behaved like a spoiled jerk from the beginning and there didn't seem to be chemistry between him and Cordelia, so I found it hard to like him and might have quit if I was only reading, but the industrial espionage and bionic limb stuff caught my interest and kept me reading/listening. Working together to overcome adversity naturally draws an emotional bond between people, so the developing romance between West and Cordelia is plausible. There are a number of interesting secondary characters who no doubt feature more prominently in the future volumes of this trilogy. Although the romance could be considered standalone, the suspense and sci-fi aspects of the story are unresolved.

A Very Good Syfy Fantasy Romance by Tasha Black.

The character development is wonderful! Tasha starts out deliberately 2-dimensional and it's a joy to see her work expanding each character into so much more.
West Worthington may seem TOO BIG A JERK, but coming from a business support background, I assure you -- he is not. He's an isolated, lonely, spoiled bully, who gets a few surprises (Ha!) that wakes him up for a few hours, but will the perspective changes stay or will go back to being a self-centered egomaniac? Cordelia Cross starts out as a shy, too scared to say no (I need this job), but as she gets confidence. How she gets that confidence? That's a spoiler!
I did not like the only sex scene (very explicit) in the book. This is written at the very end and seems superfluous to the plot... wonder why the explicit scene was squeezed in, instead of following the romantic sexual scenes depicted throughout the book.

Interesting Read

This book was an interesting read for me. The concept of prosthetics that are wired into the patient's nervous system would be a major breakthrough for the millions of people who are limited in their activities due to having an ill fitting, heavy, and awkward prosthetic. However, this book reminded me a lot of the 1970's T.V.show,The Six Million Dollar Man.

Because of the reminder of the T.V.show, and because the characters were not especially well developed, I gave this book three stars. There were some unexpected twists, but the storyline was pretty predictable.

Reconstructed is by no means a terrible book. I'm sure many people will enjoy it, even though it's not my cup of tea. It does have bad language and sexual situations, so it would not be appropriate for young to middle teens.

Wow this is deep...much more than a romance going on here. Westley is the typical arrogant rich guy and Cordelia is kinda portrayed as his plain Jane assistant. She has a lot more going on then bouncing ahh....(lol), well, when his business is dangerously challenged, he finds himself coming up short in the friend department. Cordelia is great, the type of woman that will sacrifice her wants to help her family and has an ulterior motive pushing her determination that his company makes this new product because it will benefit her sister. What better way to test your product, very interesting concept and intense plot with a few great supporting characters that pump-up the emotion and suspense. Peter was a bit weird, what in the world is up with Edward--although I did feel sorry for him but something is off??? :)

This is the first book in the Building a Hero Series. I love the characters, and the story. Cordelia and West are both great characters and I love their chemistry. West was a womanizer and a jerk, before everything changed. Cordelia is a strong woman who cares for her family and for West. Cordelia's sister, Jessica, is also a beautiful character. The story is fast-paced, with action, intrigue and some funny scenes. Now, I can't wait for the next book in the Series, Augmented, to know what happens next! The narration was well done, as always with Mason Lloyd. He has the perfect voice for this story! He has a great range of voices, easy distinguishable. I liked the note by the author! I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Wasn't initially sure about this book. The male character was definitely not a hero and why would the female character would want to be with him were my first thoughts; then I was trying to guess which character would become the hero.

Well it all became clear, and with an excellent story writing ability, Tasha Black had a bad boy turn good in a way that you were supporting her story line, engaging with the characters and hoping for that happy ending.

A surprise twist where you believe the bad boy has finally got his comeuppance only to be lead down another path which has you turning the pages well past your bedtime.

This is the beginning of another Fantastic series! Reconstructed is the perfect word for the title. In more ways than one - which I will not explain, because then I would be spoiling the surprises! #Hero #Paranormal #Hot ! There are so many more things I would love to say, but will not because then I would be spilling the beans! I can not wait to get the rest of the set. This author is fantastic. I thoroughly enjoy reading her books and look forward to reading more in the future.

I got this book free and am leaving a review by my choice.

Westley Worthington is rich, good looking and extremely arrogant. Every woman wants to please him except one Cordelia Cross the one woman that hates him but needs him for her job, the job that supports her sister. She finds herself being promoted after he alienates himself from his last friend.

West has a business that seems to attract the wrong kind of attention and finds himself in a situation that changes his life forever. West is trying to put his life back together after and Cordelia is right by his side.

I enjoyed this story. It is different, lots of twists and turns but good.
