Hiding from her psychotic ex takes Mitch to the best thing that’s ever happened in her sorry life. The Greek God of a savior has got to be too good to be true. Jamie quickly decides that Mitch is the partner him and his cousin, Kevin, have been searching for. Mitch has never had a good relationship with a man, never mind two at once. Her over achieving brain has the two ex SEALs heads spinning. Security, one of their many businesses, was easy until now. While the men struggle to keep Mitch and her daughter Jess in their lives, her ex has other plans. When hidden doubts threaten to tear them apart, our resident genius thinks she has a way to ease those doubts and become the family she's always longed for. There is very little Mitch can't do, but can she survive what her ex has planned for her? Can her men stop him in time?
L. Ann started with the Baxters and followed that with multiple series and genres. While her books feature paranormal, FBI, ex-military and Badass Bikers, L. Ann is writing about the strong women that these men need in their life to help right the world's wrongs and keep their small part of the world safe. The women are extraordinary, strong and determined to make a difference. The men fight for right in every book. Yes, they kill people. Yes, the MC shoots at the bad guys’ feet to cause them pain. Yes, some throw tampons at each other regularly. That being said, they do these things while stopping human trafficking and experimentation, bringing their world into legitimate businesses, fighting gangs to keep drugs away from their town and kids, keep women sheltered safely while trying to stop domestic abuse. These are men that don’t leave a pack, Team member or Brother behind. They don’t treat women as possessions and they don’t cheat. Respect takes on an honorable meaning. Women and kids are cherished. Everyone is looked out for and everyone is equal. L. Ann has made amazing worlds, tackled the taboo subjects and made it easy to imagine living in a world where your protection comes from the vampires, shifters, freaky kids, albinos and orientals, military turned FBI and some Badass Bikers. With readers writing about rereading the series over and over, she feels like she’s told her characters’ stories in a way that would make them proud. Every book will make you laugh, every book will make you angry for the wrong that happens in the world. Every book will make you cry for the pain that a character feels. Every book gives you hope that we may just get it right yet
I have read her MC story first but L. Ann Marie just has this knack of getting you interested from the first page and as story goes on your invested the whole way thru. Her characters come to light and they feel as they are apart of you. I would highly recommend this book to all my friend's...
SHE FOUND US~~THE BAXTERS BOOK 1 L. ANN MARIE Mitch was in trouble. Her crazy and very abusive ex-husband was stalking her. One day while trapped in her classroom, she got brave and asked a stranger for help. What started as a good deed morphed into a three-way love story between Mitch, her savior Jamie and his cousin Kevin. Although the book is classed as an erotic romance, (trust me, it lives up to the label) The characters love for each other and a small toddler will tear at your heart strings. I heard myself saying a mental “ aww” a few times. It made me wish all men were like the cousins. I recommend She found us to all people who love a sizzling hot romance, yes people it is hot! I give the author kudos for writing such a great romance. I do caution however, that it is suited for audiences 18+ due to explicit sexual content and language.
This was a cute and sweet story. I really like the dynamic of Mitch, Jamie and Kevin + baby girl Jess. These older alpha males really were sweet and can take care of their women. I purchased The Baxters (Books 1-3) set and this was a perfect read after reading all this dark stuff I have been reading.
I first started by reading MC: Knight and then realised that I wanted the whole story and that started with the Baxter's .. although the first books didn't have a lot of crossovers they did set the scene for what is to come in the other books as the stories move along so their importance to the series' as a whole cannot be overstated
I have just read the 22 books to date back to back in the order published on the author's website and decided to review them as a whole. I really don't think they stand well as stand alones as there are too many common threads, too much history and too much character crossover for that so it really is one (very) long story over a very long period of time with each series concentrating on a particular character group but including all of the others (except for the initial Baxter books which didn't have a lot of MC action but did set the scene for a lot of what is to come).
I loved every book although of course some more than others but i am giving an overall five star rating. My biggest issue was that sometimes (often) i found it difficult to be sure exactly who was talking and had to reread sections to try to work it out. I think that perhaps what the author is seeing in her head moves a bit too fast to translate well to the written word for some of us (something like the thoughts of some of her characters - you need to read the stories to understand my thought process here!!)
My other issue was keeping my head straight with the cast of thousands (and this is not an exaggeration) ... with each story building on to what has come before and what will come to be and with most characters continuing to play a place in each consecutive story I found myself constantly stopping to think - now who was that, whose child is that, whose partner is that???? but even amongst that confusion I loved the relationships and the strengths they provided.
The author has an amazing imagination and has brought to the table a fantastic story that i will continue to read and at some point will def read again. I have always loved and had an interest in native american philosophy and also in paranormal and psychic connections and love the way these are ingrained into the books as the stories unfold.
Although there were some things that caused me slight annoyances I cannot deny that as a whole this fits as one of the best series i have enjoyed. my thanks to the author for providing such a thoroughly engaging tale
Great story. Steamy MFM committed polyandry ménage. Older men with a younger women. Light MDSM play. Deals with child sexual abuse and of rape. I loved Mitch. She suffered so much, but refuses to be defined by her past. Works hard to make her young daughter, Jess a happy and safe home. She had a brilliant mind and is pursuing her education, in spirit of her abusive ex. Jamie and Kevin are cousins and best friends. Former soldiers and successful businessman. Who are alpha men, sexual Dom's looking for ba sub and life partner to share.
Jamie comes to Mitch's aid, when her ex starts stalking her on campus. They have a mutual attraction. Mitch just feels safe with him. Jamie takes Mitch and Jess into his own home to keep them safe. As their friendship grows so does their attachment to each other. She is no horrified by his sexual preference or sharing with his cousin. She is intrigued. When Kevin comes home from a business trip. Mitch has the same feeling of comfort and safety with him as with Jamie and can see a future with these men.
I loved watching their relationship unfold and them falling in love. They have a lot to work through to get to their happily ever after. I really loved their journey.
This is a new author to me. Came as a recommended by Amazon. I will be checking out more of her books and seeing how her series tie together.
This is my third time through this book. I just love this story. It is the book I turn to when I need a good dose of genuine love and compassion. The love that Mitch shows for Jamie and Kevin is pure and strong and shows that her past experience has no influence on who she can be when shown love in return.
Since this will be my third trip through the world of the Baxters, I can honestly say this story gets better with time. There is always some detail that stands out as important later when it may have been glossed over the first time. I love this. I truly think that the same story has the ability to touch each of us in different ways depending on what is happening in our own lives. This book is getting saved for a fourth trip!
A threesome that works so well together. With toddler daughter Jess, Mitch is trying to escape her abusive ex when she sees a big handsome Adonis and asks him for help. He not only helps but decided to give them safety and protection. His best friend and cousin returns from a mission and finds Mitch and her daughter in his bed. Sparks fly and a romantic and erotic story is born.
Ok, I thought this book had a lot of potential, the things I like about it, included: - the length, because I'm all in for a long ride. - the menage story, I'm always looking for beautiful, tasteful threeways. - Sweet, attentive guys and; - the story line itself had a lot going for it, never a dull moment & lots happening.
Unfortunately, for me, it just did not live up to it's potential. The "sweetness" factor was just so overloaded it almost gave me cavities! The heroine was a naive 19yr old and that's fine by me, but her character, I felt was also weak and insipid, she rolled over way to easily and let her guys get away with a lot with out standing up for herself. The story line was confusing, I had to go back a re-read parts to work out who was speaking and just to make it clear where the story had jumped to and what was actually happening! It just didn't come across in a clear and concise way for me. I saw a lot of 4/5 star reviews about this, which really leaves me scratching my head, but it just did not click for me. I think I'm generous giving it 3 stars :(
I went and did this all wrong. I read the MC series 1st. Not complaining.. don't get me wrong but I did wonder who these Baxter's were and what their claim to fame was... I get it now. The Aussie penny dropped. *splash*
I enjoyed reading how much Mitch grew and bloomed along with Jess and continued to smile thru such hardship. No one deserves what they went thru. Again with the anger, the tears and laughter... no wonder Im loving these books.
I can see why she needed 3 books.
Loved reading it.. thank you... I'm hurrying to finish so I can start again...
If you read this book make sure you have a spare pair of undies JIK!
This book was hot and heavy, dark and brooding and filled with suspense. The hard characters were so well developed and so enthralling, I felt myself blushing reading this at times. The blushing was due to the steaminess and jealousy of it not being me.
I loved how the story was written in a manner that although engaging and insightful, left me wondering some about how the men seen the situations. I would love this to be explored more in future books and can't wait to see if it is.
This was an amazing read! L. Ann Marie always has the perfect combination of action and romance to keep the readers wanting more.
Mitch knows she needs help. Her ex is watching her at the door of her college class. She knows what this means but how is she to get away and get her daughter and get somewhere safe? At the end of class when a large hunk walks in she knows this is her chance. So she simply asks him to walk her to her car. She never expected for him to give her his truck and tell her where to meet him later. She also has no clue where this all will lead.
Beautiful love story about second chances for everyone. The Baxter boys are cousins, and love to share. Mitch is running from a sadistic ex husband who enjoys stalking her, and she knows today is the day he will kill her. She asks for help from Jamie Baxter, who goes above and beyond in helping her to run. This book caught me from the beginning. There's a lot of laughter, some scary moments, and tears. But you will come to love all the characters like I did. I can't wait to read more of this series.
I LOVED THIS BOOK!!Im not sure why i loved this book, but i absolutely fell in love with the characters. I did find the plot to not be complete. This book could have easily been split into 2, before Jeff and after Jeff. The lack of ending has left me wondering what was the verdict of Mitch's wrist injury, and the creep from the bar. But i am still completely enamored with this book...whats wrong with me?
'She Found Us' (The Baxter's Book 1) by L. Ann Marie is a great read. This story is a great start to this series. I really enjoyed this book. It's packed full of action, passion, drama, humor, and entertaining characters. I'm looking forward to reading more from this series and this author. Recommend to fans of romance, hot former military men, and menage.
tearjerker. unbelievably perky and brilliant heroine from a truly tragic background. romantic and sexy menace commitment. terror, tragedy, survival, happiness. reread June 12, 2016. Re-read yet again in May, 2017. A little too much explicit sex but a good plot. Re-read again in September, 2018. Like visiting old friends. Re-read again january, 2020.
This is a wonderful first book to this series. you have a woman hiding out from a abuser ex with her child. then you have 2 men willing to protect them both and show her their love in so many was. you really get a true sense of these characters and what goes on in a relationship with 3 people. A must read and you will not be disappointed.
I think this is a great start to the series. We learn so much about all three of them I cracked up a lot reading about Jess. I think they make a great family. I can't wait to read more of this story and series. I recommend this book and the Author.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Damn, Mitch is one lucky lady! If only it was as easy to find a big, beautiful, badass man as it is in the pages of a great book such as this!!
I am in love with Jamie and Kevin Baxter! I love the vulnerable yet strong woman that Mitch is. The dynamics between these three characters is golden. Great Book!!
My first foray into the worlds created by L Ann Marie. Love the characters and have reread the series many times. If you love strong women and the men who support them, this series is for you.
I devoured The Baxters series back to back, so I clearly enjoyed it. However, by the end of the third book I was kind of annoyed by everyone and everything.
Let's start with the good: Mitch is sweet, Jess is adorable, the boys are sexy, the steamy scenes are just that. The overall storyline is good, especially with this first of the series. And the antagonist is someone you can easily hate with every fiber of your being.
The bad: 1) To steal a line from the book: Mitch is just too much. All of the characters say that about Mitch in an endearing 'you just don't know how amazing you are' way, but seriously the character is apparently supposed to be some mega-genius (which isn't even hinted at in the first book), who just seems to magically be able to churn out billion dollar ideas on a dime as the books progress. 2) I know kids get in the way of the sex in an erotica story, but Jess goes from being the center of Mitch's world to NEVER being around. She's constantly spending the night at a grandparent's or friend's house. The guys take turns taking care of her, later there's a housekeeper and a nanny and a bodyguard. Like - what happened to mom-Mitch? 3) Mitch's freaky-genius is paired with a child-like demeanor. I've never seen an adult character literally jump up and down, clap, and say 'yay' so many times. 4) There are just too many (insignificant) characters. The author will drop a dozen new names on you at once and give no context to who the people are. I get that it first with the story in the sense that the business is growing rapidly and they're bringing in tons of new security, etc. But come on, help a reader out - if you're going to give a character a name rather than just "a dozen new bodyguards" then you need to give us some sort of intro/context.
5) My biggest gripe with this one: the "plot twist" whereby cousins become twin brothers. So so so many issues here. So Jamie's in the hospital and has some sort of rare blood type that Kevin believes he also has. Kevin goes to get bloodtyped to make sure the field transfusion they gave isn't going to be an issue. He comes back from getting bloodtyped, the doctor calls them brothers, and *poof* Mitch and everyone else just knows that they're twins and their parents were lying. Just... WHAT? a) bloodtyping is not the same thing as DNA testing. b) as cousins they are supposed to have identical twin dads - identical twins have identical DNA so the children of identical twins would test as half-siblings in a DNA test regardless - they have absolutely NO further conversation with the doctor on this topic, so why does him calling them brothers knock down this whole line of dominoes? Maybe he mis-spoke. Maybe he called them brothers because a DNA test showed them to be half-siblings and he had no reason to suspect that their dads were identical twins. c) was one of them lied to about their birthday for their entire life? or did they think they were cousins born on the same day? Like, we went from cousins close in age to 'oh yeah, definitely twins'. d) one of the moms (I honestly forget which one) tells Mitch to "take care of my boys" and Mitch decides this means she is the bio-mom of both boys. Like, is it not possible to call your son and your nephew "my boys", or even to call your two nephews "my boys"? So many wild assumptions I can't even.
Bottom-line: it's a mostly enjoyable read. I'm not sorry I bought and read them. But I definitely won't be re-reading.
This is Book 1 in The Baxter’s series. This is a pretty good story with some very hot guys involved. Mitch’s ex-husband is going to kill her if she can’t get away. She’s in class when she looks up and sees him. She also sees this good-looking guy, Jaimie, walk into the classroom and asks him to help her get to her car. Jamie ends up helping Mitch and her daughter hide from her ex-husband. Then Kevin comes home from a business trip. He’s Jamie’s cousin. This is a very sweet, hot love story between 2 men, 1 woman and 1 very cute little girl. There were some things in the story that wasn’t made very clear and you kind of had to read that spot a couple of times to make sense. And one thing happened that I never did understand. Other than those few things, I still enjoyed reading it. Just to be clear, it is continued in two other books, so their love story is not concluded with this book. So now I’m off to find out how the story turned out.
I really liked several of the books in the MC series and I had high hopes for this book, but I was pretty disappointed. The writing just wasn't very good (obviously L. Ann improved over time, but this book just showed some inexperience). I also expected this story to be more story driven than it was, but there was a lot of sex and the sex just didn't really hit the good dirty book mark for me. With the characters, I just didn't have an emotional connection with any of the characters or even really care about what happened in the story. I ended up skimming through a lot of the story and skipping the sex scenes all together. It just did not work for me at all. :(
You know the premise was good, the back story believable, but the writing style borders on juvenile.
The insta-love is a little twee, the over the top use of pet name is an annoyance, but the whole thing just felt a little off. Our heroine is a clueless and naïve 19 year old working her way through collage, they are over the top in everything they say and do. I've finished book one but have zero interest in attempting to read any more. Perhaps I'm being harsh and the series will improve as they go on, but after wading through the candyfloss writing I cant face it.
Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this for an honest review, and thank you BooksGoSocial for auto approving me (you are now on my favorite publisher's list)! I will read more from the books you publish from now on!
My first time reading L. Ann Marie and I am not disappointed!
This is a love story... for adults! A girl with child is being stalked by her ex, she meets a handsome man who has everything to protect her! He's strong, charming... And he calls her "Angel Eyes"! That's how it starts... Enough to get you hooked, read the rest! Hot and steamy!
