A single woman accepts a drink from a handsome, charming man at a cocktail party—and terror replaces the tedium of her once ordinary life as the manager of a Smithsonian museum store in Washington, D.C. The drugged champagne is a one-way ticket across an international landscape to an isolated life controlled and scripted by her aloof, wealthy, enigmatic—but surprisingly benevolent—captor. Why her? SECOND CHANCES is Lindsay Talbot’s narrative story of a life of shocking truths, heart-breaking loss, and the potential for a future that comes at a price she may not be able to pay.
Rita M. Boehm was born and raised on the south shore of eastern Long Island, New York. She became a voracious reader at a young age, enjoying everything from Nancy Drew mysteries to literary fiction.
Cross-country moves during her career, first to Colorado and then to suburban Maryland near Washington, D.C., provided helpful location material for the books she would eventually write. As Rita planned for retirement, she revived her youthful dream of becoming a writer. Her first novel, Second Chances, was released in 2015, a year after she left the corporate world without a backward glance.
In 2016, Rita moved from Maryland to central Florida with her husband and her dressage horse. She is actively involved in a vibrant, local writing community, and is a member of the Florida Writers Association (FWA). Her children's picture book, BLUEBIRDS IN THE GARDEN, was awarded Best Children's Book of the Year in the 2019 FWA Royal Palm Literary Award Competition (RPLA).
Her most recent releases, riveting domestic thrillers, THE PRICE OF REVENGE and THE PRICE OF DECEPTION, are multi-award winners.
I love the depth that Ms. Boehm adds to her novels. The characters are well fleshed out and the storyline is not predictable. I find myself reading at every opportunity so that I can find out what is going to happen next. As a matter of fact I have “Beyond Second Chances” downloaded and ready to go as soon as I am done with this review. Enjoy!
A young woman, just going about her life as a young woman does, meets someone new and ends up being kidnapped. She doesn't know why and doesn't understand why she keep being moved from place to place. Will she find answers to all her questions?
This book kept me on the edge of my seat! I was captivated trying to figure out the mystery behind these men. I couldn't tell the entire time who was on the "good"side, and I couldn't put it down as I worked to discover the clues. I loved all of the twists. Just when I thought I had it figured out, it tricked me again and again! I definitely recommend this book!
