Love At The End Of The World

Rate this book
The world is ending in fourteen days. And Kieren Felix has sort of resigned himself to that. Sure, he's going to die a virgin, watching nature documentaries, but then, there are worse ways to go. Until Benjy Hunter literally falls into his life. They have fourteen days, and suddenly there's not enough time. Fourteen days to fall in love, to live, unashamedly, for the first time. As the days countdown, they fall deeper and deeper into each other. The world ending is inevitable, but Kieren and Benjy? Well, their story is rather more unlikely.

God, this book was nearly *perfect* from beginning to end.

If you're looking for a story where perfectly imperfect MC's find one another, forge incredible feelings, then make every moment they have together truly meaningful, even the mundane ones, then read this book. Seriously.

No, this was not your typical HEA, there was no 11th hour 'near miss', which saves the planet from impending doom, but Ren and Benjy's story was altogether amazing and I'm happy that I finally made the time to read it.

What most shocked me was not a feeling of, "Oh my God, it's 'X' days until the end," but the joy and gratitude that Ren and Benj felt due to finally meeting their 'one person.' The one who completes them.

In this story, that was truly enough. Everything and more than either Ren or Benj had ever had before, or even hoped to have. Love, deep and enduring.

The story never felt as if it were intentionally trying to pull on your heartstrings and tie them in knots, but Christ, that's precisely what it did to me, with only minimal angst.

So a full 5 heart-felt stars for this spectacular, memorable story.

OMG, Todd is gonna kill me, but this had way too much YA/NA feel for me. The dialogue made me feel as if I was listening to two 13 year old who were trying to be super serious. I'm sad. I liked the premise though.

OH. MY. GOD.

That ending… I mean, I see it coming but it’s not the same as actually reading it.

Ok, I’ll say this book was nearly perfect. There were some things that kept me from giving it 5 stars.

The first one was the POV. There were more than two or three times that I got confused with whose POV I was reading and that put me out of the story. The second one, I found the dialogs a bit weird, idk they were kind of silly, however, there were things they said that really got into my heart. But I just learn to ignore those little things that bugged me and the story really grew on me. I mean, the premise was really good and it made me put things into a new perspective.

It’s the end of the world y’all! How couldn’t you see things with different eyes?

I have to confess that with the two last day I was already gone, I couldn’t stop crying because I felt powerless, I wanted them to have their fantasies come true, but neither they nor I could’ve done something to stop this tragedy and that was what killed me and what I liked the most (weird I know, I have mix feelings right now). Sometimes things can’t be fixed and you just have to accept the end that the life is giving you.

If I were Kieren or Benjy, I would’ve been freaking out but they stayed calm on their last 14 days and they tried to make their life as normal as possible, falling for each other, being there for each other, confronting their fears and I loved that. Besides, I really enjoy the sappiness (because I’m a sappy person, can’t help it). The sex scenes weren’t the best, (they were sweet yeah, especially their last time before the end) BUT I don’t think that they were the point of this story.

I’m really happy they found each other and even though it wasn’t enough, they made the most of it. Yeyy!!

Wow just wow...

The end of the world is nigh. Literally. An unstoppable meteor is heading towards earth. There is nothing anyone can do.
Kieren and Benjy find each other with fifteen days left.
This is a story of learning to appreciate what you have. Learning to love and learning that NOW sometimes has to be enough.

I knew going into this that there would be no happy ending. No Hollywood hero would come charging in to save the day. No last minute miracle would alter what was about to happen.
There's no hope.
Didn't stop me hoping for it though, with every fibre of my being.

I adored this story, I couldn't put it down.
I loved both Ren and Benjy and I really enjoyed watching them fall in love.

This book made me stop and think. It made my stomach clench and my heart sore.
It's an incredibly poignant tale and an unusual love story but I'm so glad I read it.

Love doesn't need years to grow and when it arrives, it's perfect

You know, while you're reading it, what will happen with this book but it doesn't stop your brain from trying to convince itself that somehow the ending will be different.

But the inevitability of the book is what makes the love between Kieran and Benji so beautiful. There is no time for playing games, just honest attraction which grows as the days run down.

I didn't quite cry but I did breathe a little sigh that they didn't get to enact the full measure of Dylan Thomas' instruction.

I've had this book on my TBR for a little while, but the idea of the "inevitable" had me cringing. I like my HEA's and prefer, at least in my reading, not to think about the "inevitable" ending we all face. Finally I bit the bullet and I'm really glad I did. Benjy and Ren live a whole lifetime in 14 days, and I spent all of it hoping for an alternate ending. That's on me, not the author. There's no last minute hope, edge of your seat, bs written here. This is a love story under the most unusual circumstances and damn Stevie Rogers for making me see the HEA and then....well.

I always judge a book by how it made me feel and if it doesn't make me cry then the connection was just not there. I didn't cry at the end of this book. It was worse. And great. And yeah...Benjy and Ren.

5 wonderful heart breaking stars

It took me a few days to read this book. Not because it was boring or long winded or anything like that but because every word, every chapter broke my heart a little. Absolutely lovely story about love at the end of the world. Highly recommended. Don't forget you're tissues because you're gonna need them. I did xx

Perfectly Beautiful

What a beautiful story of finding love. Just perfect in every way. I want to reread the story over and over - skipping the last page. 5.0 for tomorrows.

I'm not often one to read apocalypse type stories, mainly because the outcome is a bit like the "Titanic" - you know the ending and it's not good.....

So, this story is about Kieren and Benji. Kieren meets the man of his dreams under odd circumstances - Benji appears on Kieren's fire escape in Pj's carrying a teddy bear....but the planet is going to be hit by a meteor in two weeks time and will end the world......take your pick on your reality check.....

This book gripped me - there was none of the gritty chaos or dark angst you usually get because the world is ending. This was a journey of a lifetime in two weeks, focused solely on the two MC's. They did not venture outside the apartment, staying in their own bubble, getting to know each other (adopting a cat!) and trying to accept the circumstances that they have no control over. I experienced their happiness and humour. Their discovery of each other, the pleasure and their contentment. But I was also angry with them and full of bittersweet tears......

The countdown on each of the chapters had my stomach clenching as I read through the story, it was thought provoking, scary and a lot of what-if's.....I questioned my mortality when my Dad passed away.....but what happens when you have no choice? When your turn of a cycle of life is taken away from you?

"...it's so fragile, isn't it? Life, I mean..."

At 83% of this book, I started to fall apart....it was too real, too unfair, I was crossing my fingers for a different outcome.....where was Bruce Willis when you needed him??? The last couple of chapters were moving and sentimental, verbal promises of a beautiful future and it just made me blub because there would be no tomorrow........and the last sentence of the story.........holy effing heartbreak - just 4 words.......BOOM!

Overall, this was an unusual love story, one that I have to be honest has made me stop and think a little too hard - which isn't always a good thing. It was a poignant tale, with engaging characters and a bittersweet end.

I have words.

Okay, first of all, I thought the setting of this book was in London or some other European country. Use of words like “colour” and “fortnight” and “post” made me think this couldn’t possibly set on this side of the pond. And then they mentioned Brooklyn. No, sorry. No way these two men-one born and raised in New York-were using such words.

Have you ever read a book with exactly two characters who have no access to outside characters in one setting for the entire book? There aren’t many out there and the reason is because it’s hard. It is so hard to put two people in a bubble and have the story be entertaining. I get it was part of the plot but it made half of the book drag on for me.

Circumstances make them fall faster but it’s still too fast to feel real.

There is no HEA to me. And I’m sad about that.

As advertised on the tin. Sweet, but brutal. The characters talk like Brits even though they're supposed to be Americans, which pulled me out of the story a few times, but still, this is a perfect story for those times you just really want to get punched in the feels.

Seemingly in contrast to most of the reviews for this book, I did not like it that much. The premise is enticing and different, with two men meeting for the first times 14 days before the end of the world and establishing a romantic relationship. However, even though it is a short story covering only 14 days, I found it quite a slow read. The two characters are very sweet and funny, the dialogue is good, but in essence, there is no plot at all. The whole “doomsday” setting is just mentioned at the start of the book (for 2 sentences) and then really the last sentence of the book.
I suppose I tackled it thinking it would cover more the drama and psychological element of dealing with the world coming to an end. The book instead is a romantic book on two characters get to know each other and finally fall in love within a finite period of it.

,,Couldn't put it down!

An amazing story of finding true love at the end of time. I don't typically read end of world genre but I am sure happy to have read this book. Kieran and Benjy's meeting is not usual in any way but that's life. Well written characters draw you in and take you on their journey of what is to become. With a heartfelt ending that leaves you feeling hopeful that maybe there could be more.

I don't even know where to begin. I loved the love story in the book. Benjy and Ren were perfect together and I am so happy they found each other even though it was only for 2 weeks. I kept hoping the meteor would miss. I hoped just as they hoped. It's human nature to hope for the best. The ending just gutted me. My heart will ache for a long time after reading this book. Please don't let that keep you from reading it. This book is so worth it.

4.5 stars. The only issue I had with this book was the dialect issues (Brooklyn natives talking with slightly British accents). Otherwise, it was just beautiful.

This is the kind of book that makes you appreciate life and all of the mundane details we take for granted. It makes you appreciate the beauty of a settled, comfortable relationship, and the wonder of falling in love. I don't know if these two MCs would have fallen in love so deeply and quickly had there not been a ticking clock counting down the rest of their lives, but it honestly didn't matter to me. It didn't feel unnatural or gratuitous....every moment between them was genuine and heartfelt.

Part of me is upset that there wasn't enough time with them. But they didn't have enough time, either. The time they did have, they made the most of it, and it was glorious.

Short and sweet.
The ending. The ending was so unexpected. The gasp I gusped. The scream I scrumpt lol
Their relationship was so beautiful.
So real.
No games and messing around. Just true attraction and thriving off it. Thriving off of that love and affection.
Acknowledging that the world was ending. Continuing to find humor, routine and love. This book a fictional bur a true real experience.
The had each other when they needed each other.
Perfect.

Hard to rate so I won’t. I loved the premise and the characters - the feelings just happened too fast. But it had potential to be really compelling.

Apparently we're leaving all sanity out the door and rushing up a romance which should be all the more slow and savoury. Urgh!
