Danny Black #2.5

Murder Team

Rate this book
Danny Black is a lone wolf on an unofficial mission.

He is in the deserts of East Africa looking for his old comrade in arms Spud, wounded in their last mission and now missing.

A wounded British solder is a commodity in these parts...

Danny recruits a grizzled ex-Blade to help him, encounters an ex-Mossad mercenary, who is part of the supply chain, and heads for a showdown with a small Somali army, led by most-wanted Islamist militant Abu Bakr.

In the heat of battle Danny discovers, he is not the lone wolf he thought he was.

He begins to wonder, as so many soldiers have before him, is he just a pawn in a greater game?

Really good short read if you like military, action-packed missions in the desert.

I've not read any others in this series (I have read The One That Got Away by Chris Ryan which I loved although this is non-fiction) as I'm not sure it's going to be much different from Andy McNab's Nick Stone series which is also really good and I've read a few of.

Will consult other people's reviews for guidance - it certainly has potential and I did enjoy this one.

Just a quick read in between main books.

And I know I enjoy Chris Ryan, always exciting, gripping and action packed.

Although a short story, still good, and sticking to what he knows best, action.

A recovery mission, to go back to collect a friend he left behind.

Great short read.

A cross between a sort story and a novella. The plot revolves around Danny Black going back to East Africa to rescue a comrade injured on their last mission. It's all pretty linear, but enjoyable nonetheless. The action sequences are nicely done, and there is a good cast of characters, albeit a small cast. I enjoyed it, so that's good enough for me.

Another great book in the Danny Black series.

Although this is really only a short story/novella that sits between books 2 & 3 (hence 2.5) it is not short on action and nicely ties up a loose end from book 2 (Hunter Killer).

Can’t wait to get stuck in to book 3 now!

Fantastic little novella for in between Hunter Killer and Hellfire… so much action packed into 100 odd pages. Such a good ending!

This was the first Chris Ryan book that I’d read. In this short story the character of Danny Black is a lone wolf on an unofficial mission. In this teaser novel between the second and third books in the series the reader is exposed to lots of action crammed into just over 100 pages. The story can be read standalone but it hints to a bigger story. This story is explored in the other paperbacks in the Danny Black series.

Ryan writes fairly simply. He’s direct and to the point. This doesn’t mean that the book isn’t gripping. Nor does it mean the book lacks detail. Ryan’s technical descriptions help give the far-fetched tale an air of plausibility and authenticity.

So, in summary I’d be happy to pick up another Chris Ryan novel. They are easy to read and hard to put down, especially if you love non-stop gruelling action.
