Limitless: The Story of Knox and Emery Jane

Rate this book
Knox appears to have the perfect life. He’s a photographer, living on the beach in sunny southern California, and a father of an intelligent little boy. Although, not everything is as it seems. Underneath it all, Knox lives a lonely life, filled with meaningless moments leading up to the 60 minutes he spends with his son every day. Until he met Emery Jane. Suddenly, the black and white world he lives in becomes brighter and the void of loneliness disappears. But, Knox holds a secret, one that could crush the promises of a future with the one woman he has grown to love, and the son he would do anything for.
Six years ago, Emery Jane ran. She ran from her past, from the people she loved, the secrets that were buried six feet under, and from her own living, breathing nightmare. Emery Jane longs for a life of normalcy and living in paradise seems like the perfect place to find it. She never expected to meet Knox, or his beautiful little boy, and she certainly didn't expect to love them so fiercely. As she embraces the unexpected she can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, showing her that life doesn't always have to be so unnerving. But Emery Jane knows that with secrets come destruction, and that destruction is knocking on her door.
As their pasts collide, inviting havoc into their lives, their limits are tested as they try to survive. Will the evils that chase them win, bringing everything crashing down around them? Or, can they both fight through the darkness and live a life of happiness?

Limitless is definitely a page turner! The romance, the deep emotions involving every character, and the suspense left me on my toes with my heart beating uncontrollably. You don't want to pass this up.

Knox's life isn't simple. After the birth of his son Maddox, six years ago, the baby-mamma has kept him in control, demanding things from him. If he doesn't oblige, he'll never see Maddox again. My heart broke multiple times reading Limitless. No kid should ever have to go through what Maddox (Emery Jane and Wade included!) went through. Knox made it all better. Seeing him with his kid was so damn sweet and swoon-worthy. <3 <3

Emery Jane is on the run. After losing her brother Wade, to a violent crime, the person who did it wants her so she had to leave her life behind and start again. She finally settles down somewhere she thinks she'll be safe. The same building where Knox--the sexy single father--lives in.

Both are keeping secrets.

It's only a matter of time before those secrets bring up their dreaded pasts.

Fantastic debut novel!

I was pulled in from the first page. The plot so captivating. I couldn't wait to read more. The characters: Both broken, but so easy to relate to. They had such excellent chemistry. I loved watching Emery Jane and Knox interact and it was so much fun watching their relationship grow and develop.

Limitless has it all: romance, emotion, intrigue and suspense. I loved all the great twists and turns. The last 1/4 of the book really took me by surprise. The revelations and twists: I just didn't see them coming! Wow! What a fantastic way to tie up all the loose ends. I am still blown away! And the ending! Wow! I have no words other than it was so sweet, so perfect. The absolute, much deserved ending to this story.

Limitless is a fantastic debut novel. I loved everything about this book and I am so excited to read more from this author. She is definitely someone to look out for in the future!

3.5-4 stars This was an enjoyable read.

Emery Jane has been running. Running from "the Nightmare" for 6 years. She's decided it's time to stop running and start a new life. It's time to claim her life. Knox has been going through the motions of life ever since his son was born and then taken away from him. When Emery Jane becomes his new neighbor, life seems to sharpen into focus for him. With secrets about their past always threatening to come out, can they learn to trust each other enough to have a relationship? Can they let themselves love without worrying about hurting and burdening each other with the past?

I really liked the characters in this story. Knox and Emery Jane are both very strong and independent characters who have both been broken down by the circumstances surrounding their lives. I felt emotionally connected to them, especially Knox's son, Maddox. I was even very interested in the secondary characters, Jay and Nixon. And I hated the villains, HATED them, lol.

"Our broken souls brought us together, but it was the sudden rush of intense love that would keep us together, through thick and thin. We had fallen for each other fast and unconventionally, but it was that love that saved us."

The romance is slightly unconventional in that it all happens very fast, but it works so well for these characters and their circumstances that I didn't question it at all.

I loved how the Prologue and the Epilogue were both from Knox. In the beginning he seems full but empty. In the end he seems whole. It was nice to see him come full circle.

This was a good debut novel from the author and I look forward to reading more of her work.

What a fantastic book!

Knox and Emery Jane are such a sweet couple, I just loved them <3

Limitless is a wonderful story of two people with pasts they wish they didn't have - but without them they never would have met.

Knox did at least get a beautiful son out of the mess, so he is already a winner. However, his ex sucks. Big time. Like, I want to cut her.

Emery Jane (who doesn't go by a short name which I found odd)has been literally running from her past for years and finally takes her friend's advice to stop running and start living. This single choice finds her living next to hot/sexy/romantic Knox.

If you want a wild ride filled with deceit, heat, personal growth, and love look no further. You found it.

This was a really great book. Emery Jane has been running for 6 years. She has gone so many places and ran away from each one all that time after the night she saw The Nightmare kill her younger brother. Finally, her best friend since she was born talks her into stopping running and try to finally make a life for herself. He is the first person she sees and meets at her new apartment is Knox. He's 6'6", has a blue eye and a green eye, gorgeous, a photographer but looks like he holds the world on his shoulders. He hasn't really been living his life. He's got such guilt and only gets to spend an hour with his son a day and his son's mother pretty much controls things. He's miserable and wants his son in his life but feels trapped. They are both broken and can see the other has secrets.

Emery Jane's life has been pretty tragic and rough. When she was younger and her mother was alive, she was pretty happy with her and her younger brother. Then her mother died and she felt a responsibility to protect her younger brother. She loved him and didn't want him to have to go through the life that she has so she did what she could for him. His death, her fear, and the Nightmare made her run and keep running for 6 years. She wants a life but fears and waits for the other shoe to drop. Knox and his son Maddox are just what she needs.

Knox's life pretty much consists of work and waiting around for the time he can spend time with his son. His son, Maddox, is his pride and he wants him to have everything. He's his first priority and his love is all consuming. When Emery Jane walks into his life, he starts to see what life can consist of. She makes him see that there can be so much more to life.

Definitely worth reading.

I was given an ARC in exhange for an honest review.

This book is up there with some of my all-time favorite reads. This is one of those books you wish you could read again for the first time.

Knox Holloway and Emery Jane are both broken souls that destiny has brought together. Knox is a quiet man that is hiding a secret that is being held over him. Keeping him from a life with his son.

Emery is running from an abusive past. Her stalker keeps finding her causing her to pick up and run again.

Finally Emery wants to settle down. She thinks maybe she has outrun her past.

Time will tell if love can truly conquer all. This book will take you on an emotional rollercoaster, but it is so worth it. This is a 5+ star book for me.

I was given an ARC in exhange for an honest review.

Knox is a simple man, well at least that is what he looks like if you were to just walk by him. Of course you would stare at him and think he is the most gorgeous thing you've ever seen. But deep down he is damaged and on the road to distruction.

Emery Jane has been on the run since she was 18 years old. she left behind a path of distruction that has followed her everywhere she goes.

When falling in love comes in between keeping the ones you love safe, what are you to do? Run or face your demons? The options are limitless!

Whopping 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆ Amazing, flawless book

Emotional, enchanting, and just the right amount of fairytale to make my inner dreamer squee with glee.

This is a debut novel by Danielle Ione, and I have really been knocked over by the amount of great debuts I’ve been reading lately.

This novel is about Emery Jane, a girl on the run from her past. From the monster that lurks in the dark and threatens her very existence. But she’s exhausted of running and wants to settle down, have a home that consists of more than a small bag of clothes and no furniture. After some convincing from a friend, she rents an apartment near the beach–right down the hall from the sexy, slightly intimidating, Knox.

Knox was very real to me, and his inner strength really made me want to just hold him in a hug, pat him on the back, and tell him things would work out for the best. After a relationship with a girl who he really shouldn’t have, he is blessed with a beautiful little boy. When she rips his son from his arms not long after his birth, Knox is willing to do anything in order to spend just a small hour a day with his little boy. Haunted by a secret and barely holding on to his sanity, his world is rocked when Emery Jane moves in.

Together, the two characters overcome their personal battles, building each other up when the rest of the world is desperate to bring them down.

One thing I love about Danielle’s writing is that it’s all about emotion. Sometimes you read romance, and it feels like it’s centrally focused on the sexual tension. When will they sleep with each other? Is it this chapter? Oh, no it’s just a kiss. Mind you, I LOVE a good spicy read. But reading Limitless really brought out the emotions. It focused on how two people with horrible pasts learn to love each other, trust each other, and turn to each other when in need. It’s not one of those romances full of doubt of the relationship, but more of a doubt of themselves. Were they worthy of a love so pure?

A book that tugs on my every heartstring, Limitless has become a top fave for me. I’m looking forward to any other novels this author writes, and I hope that you will as well.

I was captured right from the beginning. My heart broke for Knox and his son Maddox. Knox wants so badly to be with his son and raise him with nothing but love. Unfortunately, Maddox is living with his druggie, dead beat mom. Knox has tried everything to get his son away from her, however one night his luck changes in a scary twist for Maddox. Will Knox be able to help Maddox move forward from his ordeal?

We also meet Emery Jane who is on the run from her past. She yearns to find a place that she can finally call home. She meets Knox and while on a date with him, he gets a call from his son Maddox, thank goodness she was with him when he went to get his son. The horror they walked in on was sad and my heart broke with what was discovered.

Both of Emery Jane and Knox’s past seem to connect them in a certain way. And the past is always threatening to come out. Can they trust in each other and move forward with their relationship? Their sexual connection was very hot and steamy.

“In a matter of a day you flipped my world upside down, and in less than a week, you had me not only head over heels in love with you, but feeling like I had another reason to live.”

What a great debut novel for Danielle Ione. There were so many twists you didn’t know what else was coming. Quite a shocker towards the end, didn’t see that coming. Limitless does not have a cliffhanger and I really enjoyed seeing into the future with this HEA story. Thank you for the great read, I suggest you 1-Click and get started with this great book.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book!

I really don't know where to start, apart from I bloody loved it! I am seriously shocked that it was the authors first book, I would have never guessed.
Knox and Emery Jane are such beautiful characters, they've both been through so much individually and dealt with it in their own ways. Emery Jane by running away from her 'nightmare', and Knox by evolving his whole life around seeing his son for minimal amounts of time. Their loneliness screamed out at you, and then they met each other. They instantly shared something incredible from the first glance, and you could feel that electricity in the authors writing!
I loved reading about their changes, learning that they can rely on other people other than themselves, and love too.
It wouldn't be fair of me not to mention Maddox, he's such a great part of the book. He's an amazing little boy who has also had to endure a lot of bad, by the hands of his mother. Knox is such a fantastic dad, his love for his son is beautiful, their love made me cry more than once. Emery Jane and Maddox have an instant connection too, it was amazing to read!
I found this book to be such an emotional read, I alternated between laughing out loud, crying my eyes out, and EEKing at an Unnatural volume! I highly recommend it and truly can't wait to read more from this exceptionally talented new author!

I started reading it while waiting at the dentist and it was the first time that the long wait didn't bother me! From that moment on, I couldn't put the book down. The plot is captivating, the prose flows beautifully and the story makes you want to read more and more. Knox and Emery Jane are damaged characters, they both have secrets and a very hurtful past but once they found each other, and without a doubt, they know that what they feel for each other is magic and unique. I want to talk about Maddox, he's Knox's son and he's the most adorable character on the whole book. Ms Ione manages to create such a perfect picture of this little boy that after reading the book you only wqish you can also hug him and show him your love!!!
Limitless is a book that has all the right ingredients: romance, friendship, evilness, innocence, intrigue and suspense.

This just didn't do it for me. I didn't feel their instant connection. There wasn't enough character and couple development for me. For two people who are so guarded against everyone else in the world, they opened up to each other way too fast and easy in my opinion.

***************************************

Limitless was my first book by Danielle Ione and I loved it! After reading it, I needed to process my thoughts about all the overwhelming feelings.

I have to say that everything in this book move fast, from the plot to the characters, and it was believable. The main characters have some issues on their own but the thread was well rounded.

Emery Jane ran from her past. She wanted a fresh start but what she wasn’t expected to meet Knox her new hot neighbor, who seemed too good to be true. She’s closed off, and kept people at distance, and with her heavy and dark past; she couldn’t let anyone in her life, until a single father with his cute little boy came into her life.

Knox has a lot on his plate, helpless about his situation and torn with secrets that could destroyed the little balance he had. His few moments he had with his boy was an escape in his darkness. When he met Emery Jane, something happened; an undeniable and intense bond that was well described by the author; almost palpable.

How these two with so much issues and secrets could work together?

There were some strong, violent and abusive situation. They went through a lot and reading about how Knox little boy went through broke my heart. It was at times very dark, intense, rough with such intensity about the characters’ feelings. I was expected a lot of drama and heartbreak here but it was handled wisely, with characters working as a team and I appreciated it. There was an awesome chemistry between all the characters, a great family of misfits.

You’re gonna go through a range of emotions, with the ability to make you believe in love, written in a straightforward way, no futilities and it was really good for a change.

They didn’t waste time and work things together, there’s some fights but always constructive. A wonderful story about fighting your fears, living again and giving a chance to love.

Limitless exceeded my expectations and more. It was an amazing debut novel that everyone needs to read. The author does an excellent job of drawing you in from the first pages that you can’t flip them fast enough to find out what happens next. The plot is evenly balanced with just the right of intrigue, suspense, steaminess, and oh the feels you will have for these two beautiful broken people.

What I loved most about Limitless was that the author created characters that were very realistic. Personally, I enjoyed the fact that they were very broken when we met them and it was the connection they found within each other that they were able to start repairing those broken pieces of themselves. I thoroughly loved their chemistry and how they grew to trust each other with their deepest and darkest secrets.

Knox is supreme alpha and pretty much sex on a stick. I tended to forget about how hot he was though because the author did a wonderful job of really making his emotions shine through his hot and rugged exterior. I instantly fell for his heart and how devoted he was to his son. Emery Jane was very easy for me to connect to. My heart hurt for her on more than one occasion, with the hand life had dealt her. She gives survivor a new meaning, but what I adored about her the most was her kind and loving heart despite all the horrible things she had dealt with in the past.

This is definitely a must read that I’d recommend to anyone that needs more than a cheesy love story. You will get the feels over and over while reading this book. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll hold your kindle a little tighter so you don’t throw it, and you’ll swoon. These are two wonderfully written characters that give you the kind of hope that if we find the right person to stand by our side, we can certainly survive anything. I tip my hat to the author on an incredible debut and I can’t wait to read what you release next!

I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars. I wish I could give it like 10, it was that amazing. The plot sucked me in and I loved the ride. The characters were so real that I could relate to their problems even though I myself never experienced what they did. I felt so many different emotions while reading and there were some parts where I straight up ugly cried and my husband thought I was losing it.

I love Emery Jane. She is phenomenal. She’s strong. I love that she’s so selfless when she’s been through so much in her life. The relationship she has with Knox was well done; it wasn’t rushed or faked. You could just feel the sparks coming off the page. I love her relationship with his son as well; she made so much difference in his life that it was like he got a whole new mom. Emery Jane does so much growing in this book that sometimes it’s like she’s a whole new character.

Knox is just whoa. He’s hot. He’s sexy. He’s troubled, but he tries to make the best of it. Knox learns so much about life from Emery Jane and he is able to grow more than I think he thought. I loved that he wanted to know her life but didn’t push her on the hard stuff. He was just there. I loved him.

There is a wonderful suspense element to this book that will rock your world. You’ll never see it coming and when it hits you, I know you’ll feel it in your chest like I did. I couldn’t believe the twist that happens and I just cried. I felt so much for these guys that I couldn’t help but root for them and you will too. Buy the book now. It’s a standalone and it is so worth the buy. Why are you still here? Go buy the book!!!

Limitless is the story of two broken souls, Emily Jane is finally done running after six years and a very tragic past. In her first day in her new life she meets Knox a gorgeous 6 ft. 6 man with a very tragic present. While Emily is struggle to put her past behind her Knox’s future is in jeopardy. This story has some very typical romance characters the evil ex, the maniacal super villain, and the super awesome best friends. But Ione writes them in a way that keeps the reader interested to see if the story is going to play out as they suspect. Knox and Emily Jane both have a little something extra to keep the reader guessing and the chemistry is not bad a all. Limitless is a great debut for this author and I look forward to reading her next work. This book was reviewed for Kylee Fiction Addiction

Danielle Ione is certainly a new talent to watch out for. She has created a story that sucks you in and gets you caught up in the story and the characters.

Emery Jane has been on the run trying to escape and hide from her past. The first person she meets in her new life is Knox and the way he makes her feel scares her. Knox is dealing with his own demons to be able to see his own son, Maddox. However, he feels the instant connection with Emery Jane. Together they are stronger as they support each other without expectation of anything in return. This is how a relationship should truly be.

Amazing, beautiful, intense and, at times, horrifying. These characters find a way to burrow into your heart and don't let go. A must read.

I cannot resist a story with a kid, especially a cute kid that steals your heart the way Maddox does. I love how he and Emery Jane both grew out of their shells...together! Knox, how can you resist a hot dad that wants nothing but the best for his son?

The cast of characters was absolutely perfect from sweet little boy to the nasty villain(s). Danielle wrote a story the took you on a journey full of suspense, sexiness, emotion and even cuteness ~ making it a GREAT debut novel. Looking forward to more from Danielle in the future.

5 stars isn't nearly enough to rate this book. The author wrote this story with wonderful characters that at times you realize it could be me or you or anyone. It's not your cookie cutter romance that's for sure. What I learned from this story is that love isn't always enough unless you have the bond that keeps you together. With lots of tears and laughter this book is magical. I was unable to put down my kindle until I read this cover to cover.

This was such a pleasant surprise! I really like the single dad stories and this one was quite different from others I have read. There was so much tension in this book, tension from Emery Jane's past and tension from Knox's past/present...I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop the entire time. I was literally at the edge of my seat. I couldn't put the book down, it was quite the page turner!

All i can say is wow this book has some darkness to it but it also shows that its the brightness and the good times you need to hold on to and live life to the fullest dont let your past dictate you. True love and soul mates is real and that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Brilliantly written with characters you wont forget.
