I, Justine: An Analog Memoir

Rate this book
A one-woman media phenomenon and a leading YouTube influencer takes readers behind the camera, and deep inside her world.

Justine Ezarik has been tech-obsessed since unboxing her family’s first Apple computer. By sixth grade she had built her first website. A decade later, she became one of the Internet’s first—and most popular—“lifecasters,” inviting people around the world to watch her every move, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. But it was a one-minute video about an itemized AT&T bill that gave Justine her first taste of viral success: Within ten days of release, her “300-page iPhone bill” had garnered more than 3 million views and international media attention. These days, iJustine is a one-woman new media phenomenon: The popular techie, gamer, vlogger, and digital influencer has an army of nearly 3.5 million subscribers across multiple YouTube channels, with total views approaching half a billion.

Now, Justine is giving friends and fans a look behind the scenes, sharing never-before-told stories about the hilarious (and sometimes heartbreaking) reality of sharing your life online. With her trademark wit and delightfully weird sense of humor, Justine delivers an inspirational message in support of creativity, entrepreneurship, and the power of staying true to yourself, while reminding readers that the Internet is a very small world—you just never know who you’re going to meet.

Justine Ezarik (iJustine), Marques Brownlee (MKBHD), Lewis Hilsenteger (Unbox Therapy), and Arun Rupesh Maini (Mrwhosethebooss) are few of the famous tech reviewers in the world of Youtube that most of us watch when there is a new iPhone or any other new tech launch event. These tech content creators have gathered public love and trust just like traditional media sources.

If you look at the above names, we can see that the only woman among the most famous tech content creators is Justine. It is extremely difficult for a woman to survive in the competitive world of technology-related content creation. (It is still a sad reality, but I am happy to see the scenario slowly changing and many women creators coming up in this social media section.) Justine not only stayed there, but she also became one of the best creators among them.

We can see from this book that Justine was a woman with a vision right from the start. She knew exactly how to use social media when most of us even didn't understand what social media was. She is one of the first creators on youtube whose videos consistently started becoming viral. Justine's 2007 viral iPhone bill video is, in fact, the first video ever I watched on youtube.

Justine is now a popular techie, gamer, vlogger, and digital influencer with millions of followers. It is an extraordinary achievement to stay relevant on social media for nearly 20 years when content creators are rising and falling from fame in a matter of few days. She made it possible only because of her dedication, passion, and hard work. This book will show us what all goes behind the scenes when she makes videos and how is the life of a modern social media tech influencer.

What I learned from this book
1) Why should we be careful while commenting on social media?
Social media has helped us know more about everything and has removed the boundaries between various countries and people. On the flip-side social media also created so many rifts between people and made many people intolerant in the name of race, religion, and politics. Some sadistic people hiding behind the fake accounts have started commenting on everything under the sun in the worst possible manner. The author beautifully tells us all these aspects of social media in this book.
"What we say to each other-even when it's anonymous, even when we think no one is paying attention, even when it's online-matters. Words have meaning."

2) Are YouTubers who share their life online narcissists?
Will an average person share their life online as vlogs or live streams? Is it the narcissistic traits that are forcing them to do it? Is it their inherent voyeuristic tendencies of human beings forcing people to watch the lives of random strangers on social media regularly? These are extremely difficult questions that need in-depth studies to get a proper answer.

I have a few YouTuber friends, and I can say that none of them are narcissistic. There might be a higher or lower number of narcissists on social media compared to other fields. But I think it is extremely rude to call every vlogger or YouTuber a narcissist just because very few of the famous people from their group are narcissists.

There have been a few studies regarding this topic in various parts of the world. Still, we have to say we have a long way to go to understand human behavior on social media properly. It is great to see the author sharing a few of these studies in this book.
"And in any conversation about social media, there are those inevitable references to "Generation Overshare," which is a polite euphemism for the idea that YouTubers are all sociopathic narcissists, that we're all deluded enough to believe the public genuinely cares about every little thing we do or say.

I can't speak for everyone on the Internet (and I have absolutely met one or two sociopathic narcissists in my time), but here's the thing about what I do for a living: it's really not about me."

3) How is technology changing our lives?
Technology is helping us a lot to make our life easier in every aspect. Booking a cab or getting a takeaway from the best restaurant in the city has now become so easy. The author is trying to discuss this aspect of technology in this book
"We are surrounded by so many extraordinary things in this life that it's easy to become jaded. We carry around in our pockets and purses these unimaginable miracles of modern technology, these mind-blowingly powerful computers that allow us to speak-at a moment's notice-with anyone in the world, that grant us access to billions of pages of information; with the press of a button, we can read almost any book ever written, listen to any song ever recorded, or gaze into the face of a loved one, even if they are thousands of miles away. I think that's amazing. I don't want to be jaded. I want to marvel."

My favourite three lines from this book
“Running a YouTube channel is a bit like having a conversation—one that gets added to in installments, bit by bit, day after day.”

"It shouldn't be about the size of your following. It should be about the way in which you connect with people in the world around you. It's about finding what you're truly passionate about, and letting that guide you. Fame is fleeting. But if you're really lucky, doing what you love can last forever."

"Over time I have adjusted my content accordingly for my preteen and teenage girl audience: I rarely curse on camera; I don't drink on camera, either; nor do I work with alcohol companies—even though I've been offered enormous sums of money to do so. I don't talk about boyfriends, family drama, work issues, or fights with my friends, because I don't think that's anyone's business. None of these things mean I'm creating inauthentic content, but rather that I'm creating content with my audience in mind (as well as keeping at least a sliver of my life to myself)."

What could have been better?
This book was an amazing opportunity for Justine to share the struggles she overcame to become one of the best in the male-dominated tech world. It would have been a real inspiration and reference material for future female youngsters who are planning to enter the world of tech influencers. Sadly, the author could not utilize this opportunity to the extent we expected her to. Moreover, her writing skills are just average, which makes the reading experience in some parts of this book boring.

Are the tech influencers victims of consumerism due to the brilliant marketing of tech giants? We had seen the criticism she received when her viral first in line for iPhone 6 video was released. She should have used the opportunity to discuss this topic in depth in this book to answer these criticisms.

This book was published in 2015. Many important events happened in the dynamic world of social media after that. Sadly, the author didn't bother to update this book or publish a second part of it. Reading some outdated information in it might be a dull experience for some readers. The absence of many serious topics that she could have easily discussed makes the reading experience of this book just an average one

Rating
3.5/5 This book will help you to learn more about the personal life of modern-day social media influencers.

I like iJustine (Justine Ezarik). I discovered her YouTube channel about a year ago and have since started watching all of her and her sister’s (Jenna) vlogs from trips around the world (I especially love the Hawaii ones). And yes, I also watched many videos about all kinds of tech events or unboxings/reviews.
Her enthusiasm is infectious and she appears very natural. She’s goofy and nerdy and a gamer girl (you wouldn’t believe how often I get shitty comments from guys saying „you’re not a REAL gamer, you’re a GIRL“ *rolls eyes*). She can’t cook for shit, which always makes me laugh. Oh, and she LOVES knives, just like me. In short: I have a slight girl-crush and really like her.
And I had no idea just how famous she is or that she's considered something like a pillar of the YT community because she's been there almost from the start. *hides face*

Eventually, through one of her YT videos, I found out she had a biography published quite some time ago. Since I want to add a few more biographies to my reading pallet, I decided this short and quirky one would be perfect.

The audiobook is narrated by Justine herself, which was great since I’m so familiar with her voice due to the videos. It made the reading experience a bit more authentic. Overall, the biography was as if I had a conversation with her.

This is not just about whether or not you like her as a person, it’s about the history of tech (no, not just Apple, not by far) and the history of gaming and internet personalities.
I’m almost the same age as Justine, so it was especially interesting to see how and when she came to have her first computer, when and how she first heard of the very first iPhone, what games she has been playing and how YouTube developed into what it is today (complete with all the jobs it created). And to then compare it to my experiences from way back when.
Thus, as many good biographies, this is also a bit of a history book.

I will keep following the Jezarik sisters on YouTube to get information on the latest tech and - most importantly to me - see the awesome places they go to (I love their drone footage, all the more because drone flying is almost completely illegal here *sad face*).

Anyone who is nerdy themselves will probably like this book and I can definitely recommend it.

First off, let me just admit something: iJustine is my favourite Internet personality. Do I watch her all the time? No. Do I follow her every movement? No. Do I love her? Yes.

iJustine is the reason I have such an appreciation of technology; of apple, of Macs, of iPhones. She was the first person I watched regularly online, and she's one of the very few people I've stayed with all these years (2008 perhaps?). Yes, Justine, I remember the Cheeseburger video showing up in my subscriptions. #amiold?

With the platform her phenomenal online presence has given her, Justine has finally written the book a lot of us have been waiting for. The questions have been answered. Why did she start? How did it all happen?

If you're looking for a memoir that will give every nitty gritty detail about Justine's life, then you won't find that here. If you're a fan of Justine, you probably won't be surprised. She's not Kim Kardashian, she doesn't make every aspect of her life known. There's always privacy. Always. But is this book any less enjoyable because we don't know her relationships, her personal life? No. Of course not.

What "I, Justine" is is a love letter to technology. It's a wonderful background to Justine's career and, more than anything, it's an inspiring story to those who read it. Throw away your reservations, Justine writes, because if you aren't being yourself, then what's the point? You see here a woman who hasn't compromised herself, has always remained true and strived to enforce her own integrity throughout her life and career. This is admirable, and after reading I now actually have a clearer view on where I want to be in life: I want to be happy, and I want others to be too.

That's it. That's iJustine.

If you want a life affirming read that has some excellent technological insight and knowledge then this is for you. If you want to know why, rather than how, to have a career like Justine's, then this is for. If you love the Internet this is for you. But most importantly, if iJustine has ever made you smile, made you laugh, or made you feel better about yourself, then this book is for you.

Thanks, Justine.

3/5 stars!

Whilst iJustine isn’t one of my all time favourite online personalities, however I’ll always pop by her channel to see what she’s up to and lets face it, she’s one of the OG’s of YouTube so I had to listen to this audiobook!

I still remember her first video that went viral and it was interesting to hear about how that came about. Whilst not a major tech nerd myself, I appreciated her explaining how much it meant to her and how far she has come with her love and passion for it.

I wish she would have delved further into her relationships with some other popular YouTubers, but apart from that, it was a very enjoyable and light read!

I don't know a thing about Justine. I read this book because the cover caught my eye at an airport. It stood out for some reason, I looked it up on my kindle and read it in 3 days. The book never really explains her major break through, it doesn't talk about the importance or the necessity of the struggle she went through, it doesn't really have a great start and beginning and the stories she speaks of are hardly interesting because she isn't a very tactful writer. The book deserves 2 stars because I found it kind of annoying for lacking direction, humour or remote entertainment. I could have spent those few hours watching a couple of classics or reading a better memoir.

Not recommended at all.

I have been watching Justine for nearly 10 years and i'm only just getting around to now reading this book she put out three years ago.

This book was a good insight into one of my favourite internet personalities i've been watching since high school. I have grown as she has and its reflected in the content she is producing and this book is a good example on how much of tech nerd she really is.

i didn't believe that she was really into tech that hardcore but after reading this i can guarantee that she has had an obsession with tech for pretty much her entire life. Not only did i learn about her tech obsession i also got a small insight to how she was as a child, teenager and her youtube beginning.

Her youtube like many other of the original creators had a real struggle trying to get their brands of the ground and i can honestly say Justine has worked her butt off over the last 10 years to get where she is now. I don't think these new youtubers that have started since know how much these original group of people really shaped how we see youtube and i don't think they realise they would not be on the platform if it wasn't for them.

from her love of steve jobs to her youtube career she really gives you an insight of the struggles and it makes me appreciate her more because this book gave me the truth about how much she's really worked.

Justine is and will always be one of my favourite content creators and i will continue to watch her until she doesn't do youtube anymore.

I feel like we all know Justine. This is basically her talking to us through words and not the screen. I literally read this book in her voice. It's a quick read. Finished it in about 3 hours on a plane. Definitely consider it a look into the life of a Youtuber. It shows how there is a lot of work that takes place without any pay. Yes, now she has over a million subs, but that took over 6 years. I met her in 2010 and she was so kind and easy going! We even filmed a vlog together! http://sarahramsingh.com/index.php/ve...

It doesn't go into the how to vlog category, but it's not suppose to. It's a memoir. She gives insight in what it's like to put your whole life online. It's not all that glamorous. You get judges. She was even swatted. She also talks about how she had to work at her channel and work side gigs to make ends meat. It's a great read and I love her sharing little secrets into her journey. If you follow her channel this is a must read.

First thing first, I didn’t know who iJustine or Justine Ezarik was; I did not watch her on YouTube, follow her on Twitter (or Myspace) or watch her lifecast; so when Audible algorithm recommended her memoir to me, my reaction was, “huh, why would I want to read a memoir of an admittedly beautiful girl who so loves Apple Product that she styled herself iJustine, as if the world doesn’t already have enough iProduct and iJunk.” But then, who wouldn’t, so I bought the audiobook.

The iJustine’s analogue memoir really reminds me a lot of Felicia Day’s memoir, which I enjoyed tremendously (ah, so that’s why audible kept on pushing her photo in my face) but where as Felicia Day gave us the story of her rise (and fall) iJustine reads like a triumphant march to success, with some minor obstacles along the way, it’s also considerably shorter and more concise. Listening to iJustine on my way to and from work can be an enjoyable though effortless experience; probably because her memoir comes across as silly and lighthearted, oh and by the way, Miss Ezarik, having the word “poor” and “Starbucks” in one paragraph is very, very unconvincing to someone growing up drinking Instant Coffee.

But overall, Justine comes across as a good-natured, silly, positive, independent if somewhat provided girl. And for those like me who isn’t lucky enough to befriend her online or irl, the analogue memoir serves as a consolation price.

P:S: I was really touched by what Justine did for Cody, as a tech-enthusiast with cerebral palsy myself, I want to thank her for being so nice to Cody.

I've followed Justine on Youtube since 2007 so I've always been a big fan of hers. As soon as I heard that she was writing a book I got so excited.I knew I was going to buy it as soon as it came out.
She's my favourite Youtuber and my idol because she does exactly what she wants to do while being her true self without caring what anyone else has to say and not hurting anybody else in the process. I love her and her goofy self.
Fangirling a side I really enjoyed this book. It was really well written and it was a great insight into how she got successful in the internet world. It just goes to show that when you truly believe in yourself and work hard doing what you love you can actually achieve your dreams. This book definitely shows that, when you go through her journey of how she got where she is today.
She often references incidents that have happened in her life that are actually documented and uploaded on YouTube itself for us to go back and watch. It's fascinating.
The last couple of pages actually made me tear up a little bit. Not in a sad way but because it's so inspirational and motivational and so encouraging and true.
If you love Justine and enjoy Justine for her work, love of technology or just her personality in general then I can most likely guarantee that you will love this book and find it fascinating.
I'm so proud of her for actually writing it.

I have been watching Justine's video for several years now. She is without a doubt my absolute favorite YouTuber ever! She creates a wide variety of content that is engaging and fun to watch!

Anyways, I pre-ordered this book and read it in a matter of hours. I devoured this book. Her writing is so engaging and what she discussing is interesting as well. It was so great to find out everything that she did to get to where she is now. She is also very honest in this book, she doesn't sugar coat anything, and as someone who watches all of her videos I was surprised to find that I actually learned a lot about her reading this book. I like her even more now.

A must-read for any fan of Justine's and any person who likes to read about technology (and the advancement of technology over the short period of time that was the mid-2000's). Fantastic read! I am so proud of Justine!!

First off, I've been watching Justine's videos for years now and something about her and the way she lives her life is very captivating. I've also had the chance to meet her and she is so nice and genuine in person. That being said, I definitely enjoyed her autobiography of her life so far, but it just didn't grip me as much as I was hoping for which is why I gave it four stars instead of five. It was almost a bit too technology based for me personally, but there are people that love that. I would still recommend reading this to anyone who likes her videos or is interested in learning more about how technology is advancing and how it continues to effect our lives.

Although it took me a while to read, I really liked this book! I loved learning about how Justine Ezarik was able to make one viral video and become famous after that. Through the last 10 years, she worked hard to get the following she has now and it was really cool to hear all about that. Her writing style was simple but descriptive and fun to read. She has pictures with descriptions every few pages and it was cool to see what she put in there. I really enjoyed getting to know more things about her and how she got famous on the Internet through her love of technology.

Review:
I first found out about Justine's YouTube channel in late 2015 through her various videos about Apple products. When I watched her videos I just love her sense of humor, grand gestures an of course her crazy videos waiting in line for something that we might perceive as crazy, like camping out for an opening of a new Dunkin' Donuts.

Going into this book I expect to be filled with a lot of technical terminologies on Apple or gadgets and technologies in general, but this book is not about that (well there are excessive fingerling towards Apple and its products though). This book is Justine Ezarik's autobiography in which she tells us her journey as you might say it "from zero to hero". It starts off with Justine, fresh off of high school and not knowing where and what to study for college. She ended up taking a major on something she loves (I forgot the exact major but I'm sure it was something to do with video editing).

This book chronicles Justine's life as she became one of the first people to try out Twitter, YouTube and other new, exciting and interesting web-based platforms. Justine also told us how she quit her job that made her ends meet and investing fully on her websites, YouTube channels, etc. When you read about Justine in this book, you'll know just how invested and how serious she is in becoming a content creator of her online presence. Online is where Justine wants to make money. It's the job that she loves and now she gets paid for it.

It wasn't all that easy making money from doing what she loves to do. It was a loooong journey for Justine. Starting out as making funny videos on the internet with her best friend, to streaming her life 24/7 on Justin.tv. There are also some bumps on the road here and there but she kept going and pursuing what she loves to do.

“What we say to each other-even when it's anonymous, even when we think no one is paying attention, even when it's online-matters. Words have meaning.”

I think any book I get from a YTer will be read by them in audio format...It's more what I'm used to than reading a book written by them. YEARS ago I used to watch a lot more YT and then I just stopped..So, I already knew of Justine from when YT was basically starting (before it really blew up) and then like everything to do with YT I stopped watching her as well.

The first thing that bugged me with this Audio book is it FELT like it was actually being read to the audience by Justine. I'm not bashing it but other audio books by YTers or auto books read by the author have been more lively...This book missed that mark completely..Plus if you know anything about Justine she's anything but dull/quiet..She's kinda loud and wacky but in all the good ways. So, for me that brought the score down a little.

She is the same age as me so while we live in different countries there are references I get/understand which was refreshing plus amusing. Another thing most YTers these days are like teenie boppers which to be frank don't interest me (and never have)..I'm not into their 'pranks' or who can buy the fastest/best car cause they have a million subscribers..Plus most of those ones I find irritating. While I know there are people out there who cannot stand Justine because of the way she acts, she does go into explanation mode in the book about 'iJustine' being a character for YT.

TBH, I only picked her audio up because she was reading it..If she hadn't of read it, I don't believe I would of bothered..Actually, it's the same for any audio when it comes to autobiographies of YT people. Would I have bought the actual book via Kindle? Nope. Sames goes for other YTers.

There is only a handful of YTers that I actually like and Justine is one of those..I may not watch every video that comes out or I may do a binge (like Netflix) and then forget..But she's always one person I will come back too.

I also found we've got similar interests (love of tech, video games, cooking) and we even worked in the same field (graphic design) at one point or another. I'm not an Apple fan though and she does explain how that came up. And just like her the computers were being pushed into schools here as well..THEY were the computer to use for a while. She just took that bit to a whole other platform of excessiveness and I've been a PC user who has dabbled in using Apple products but I haven't followed that craze.

She talks about her best friend, first getting into videos, entering contests, having stuff stolen, the problem of showing your world to the internet, the effects that broadcasting your life has on your inner world friends/family, talking about making trending videos (and how they're not so easy to make or achieve), somewhat how to market yourself on the internet, her love of Steve Jobs (creepy story here..lol), her love of all things APPLE and much much more.

This book is probably best suited to someone who knows Justine and has atleast had some exposure to her videos on YouTube otherwise they may find it a fruitless read. I found it informative and a rather interesting listen..I only wish she read the book with more upbeatiness (yes, I made the word up but you get it).

When I first purchased "I, Justine: An Analog Memoir", I was expecting to read a book about Justine's more recent rise to fame and popularity with today's generation. However that wasn't necessarily the case as the book contained more information on her earliest experiences with technology and technological advances during the early 2000s.

Inspirational work by an inspirational character in my crazy digital, social media life.

Justine Ezarik has been a big influence for me and the way I do things online, she's impacted me in a big, positive way and I honestly don't even know how to thank her than by supporting her through everything she does, even purchasing and reading this book!

Justine has been someone I've grown up with and known from afar. She's probably the reason I joined Twitter and helped me realize one of my biggest dreams of working online. She's the reason I have a mild (not that mild) obsession with joining every social network I find, or my love of all things Apple (although that did start before meeting her but it did help solidify my genuine love and admiration for her), she wasn't afraid to show her true colors and follow her passion and love for technology.

If you're a fan of this girl; if you're a fan of her personality, her quirks, her videos, her work, her incredible talent to make you laugh, then I suggest you open this book and start reading about how it all got started. It makes it all the more special to have been there through it all with her — personally, I've followed her more than 6 or 7 years of my life — but you don't have to know her to learn about the crazy one, the misfit, the rebel, the one who saw things differently when everyone else was following the crowd, the one that you may hate and disagree with, but that you can't ignore — iJustine.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

I love iJustine. Granted, I'm not a follower from the Justin.tv days (as I learned from reading this), but more of someone I came across through YouTube recommendations circa two years ago. I love her reviews and although she is Apple inclined, she is definitely not subjective. Her personality and charm have added to my wanting to watch her videos on a regular basis now. Once she became part of my internet routine, I was more than thrilled to find out she was writing a book. In reading it, I did enjoy that she did tackle some of the darker elements of being internet famous and how anonymity can bring power to people who probably shouldn't have it. I liked the realities she presented, but the book stayed positive as she walked through what was to me a very relatable childhood. It really made me hopeful for what she will do in the future, as by the looks of it, she is someone who will go far. One criticism is that she tends to repeat why she does what she does and who is doing it for, which is fine, but can lose its meaning when you've read it enough times. It was definitely an enjoyable read of a modern person living a very modernized and broadcasted life.

By the way, I met Justine and her sister Jenna and the book signing, and they couldn't have been nicer.

I really loved this book and reading how Justine evolved in to iJustine!! I think it's quite inspirational and sort of says "do what you want to do in life" and "be who you want to be."

It reminded me how passionate I used to be about tech and gaming from a very young age (I was always surrounded by computers and the occasional console; I think it was a sega early on). I now think "where did I lose that passion and the desire to save for the latest tech?" I think I'll blame the uni and working my way in to my first proper proper job. I'll get back in to this generation soon!!!

Probably the most interesting part of this book was reading about how iJustine was an early adopter of social media and certain websites. I had a sort of "whaaaat" moment when SPOILER ALERT: I read Justin.tv eventually became twitch...amazing.

Well worth a read if you are interesting in social media, tech, the Internet, Justine or even just people!! Hopefully when this generation will welcome me back. Gosh I miss gadgets!!!

I'll keep watching IJ

IJustine a youtuber with over 4 million subscribers tells us how she fell in love with technology and what led her to start youtube. Justine the main character shows us how from the very beginning she has loved technology and her experiences with it. Justine tells about many adventures she went on, like going to the release of the first IPhone just to film it. Justine gives us an insight to her life of how her life has developed
I have recently started watching IJustine and when I saw she had a book i knew i had to read it. I loved the book because she shows us her love of technology and how it all started. She gives us a behind the scenes look into her previous experiences.Every chapter there was something exciting about it and a new aspect in her life. I never got bored of the book and just wanted to keep on reading.
I definitely recommend people read this book it was a well written memoir. Tech enthusiasts and fans of IJustine will enjoy this book. It's a wonderful background to Justine's career and, more than anything, it's an inspiring story to those who read it.

Even for those who may not fall into the demographic of her fan base, this is one woman's upbeat and engaging first person account of experiencing the tech and social media boom. It's not a heavy read, just an interesting peek into a world so many people still find perplexing and difficult to understand. Her fans, clearly, would love this--that goes without saying. I'm sure they've all already read it too, which is what makes iJustine such an interesting phenomenon to read about. Her overuse (and at times misuse) of the word "ironic" is irritating, but I would say--overlook that, and any prejudice you may have of this ecosystem around social media, YouTube and the Internet and give this a chance. I like the conclusions she drew looking back on her rise to fame and what it all means to her, and also appreciate having a sort of tidy, insider-POV timeline of Internet pop culture and influence in the age of YouTube.

I didn't know anything about Justine Ezarik before picking up this book, but I'm glad I did. In fact, I think this would make for a great book to include in college journalism classes about the speed and importance of adapting to new technology. We don't hear enough stories of women in tech, particularly those who had to find their way as amateurs experientially, like Justine did. Her success proves that anyone can make an amazing career for themselves; you just have to apply true passion, extremely hard work, and creativity to solving your issues.

This is a really great book for Millenials looking to get into apps/tech/video creation, those looking for a side gig or a creative outlet, or anyone who wants to reflect on the insanely fast changes in the tech world over the last decade or two. Justine has encyclopedic knowledge of these changes, so pay attention. There is a lot to learn here.

This book was better than I had anticipated. I liked that it included photos and past tweets to connect the story. The emoticons were also a nice touch. The overall story of how iJustine has come to be was interesting and she shows how small the internet world really is. When I finished the book I didn't feel as fulfilled as I thought I would. Perhaps it's a bit soon to be writing you autobiography nonetheless it was still a good read. I ordered this book in hardcover and I really love the cover. Unfortunately the font chosen for the book was very hard on the eyes and not easy to read in natural light. I would recommend this book to young adults who are still unsure of what they want to do when they grow up.

I found Justine's immature personality hard to relate to, and her story was spotty and poorly-written. She often came across as entitled and selfish; case in point: "Whether she liked it or not, being my best friend and roommate would mean a significant amount of time spent on camera for her, too. Virtually nothing between us would be private. Everything would be broadcast online." Though I'm not an iJustine fan, I am really interested in technology, so I thought this would be intriguing, but I mostly found it boring. Would not recommend this, except perhaps to existing iJustine fans.

Also, while I'm sure the ebook would look great on an iPad or an iPhone, it was incredibly hard to read on my Kobo. Publishers, I urge you to think about your font choices more seriously!

this audiobook was pretty much a Justine 101 class. She’s mentioned friends, family, her struggles in this industry that from the very beginning was not much into YT creators. I am glad this has changed. I am glad that this book is totally what I thought it would be. I know some people think Justine to be a crazy Apple maniac, buying one product after another, but she is a person who’s simply sharing whatever she can to her public without losing herself in the process, she’s much more than a Youtuber sharing self-cooking-blender vlogs, and daily-out-and-about videos; that’s what this book is all about [...].
