Both friends and enemies are keen to get their hands on the information inside Eden’s head—information that could take down the Sentries and change the world. But there are costs that no one realized, and Eden’s not so sure she’s willing to pay them. Refusing to do so could create dangerous problems within the tribe she’s only just come back to.
Eden has her own agenda for learning Lily’s secrets. With hope refusing to die, she’s spurred forward by memories of Oscar and thoughts of finding him again. But Lily’s hold on her is greater than she knows, compelling her to chase after strange clues and confusing visions. With love and longing weighing on her, Eden must determine the reality of her fractured identity in order to decide which path to take. The choices she makes could tear her away from Jonas and Apollon, from everything she’s ever known.
Eden’s future will not be determined solely by choices. Fate has her own cards to play, and they just might take the game.
Kate Wrath is a sci-fi/fantasy author from southwestern New Mexico. She has written two series: The E Series, and Fairytale Evolution.
Kate believes in literature as an art form, world peace, and animal rights, but aspires to write total trash that is full of senseless violence, with characters who eat house pets.
I received a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
4.5 stars.
And Kate Wrath has done it again.
Plot:
Eden is stuck in a world she cannot comprehend. The past is consuming her, the unknown, is unknown. Eden goes on a hunt with he good friend, Apollon, while also faking a life she does not understand, Eden tries to discover what it is her old self tried to accomplish. Not only must Eden unravel the past, but she is also trying to fix what she has left behind, but through logic, it cannot be achieved.
Jonas is trying really hard to change what the present holds rather than look back from what was, but ishe really as ignorant to the past as Eden is?
While unleashing her past, Eden runs into the unthinkable, her life was more than just about finding Jonas and ending the Sentries for good.
Hunted by her past, struggling with her present, Eden must balance it all while trying to save the little boy she left behind, and falling for Jonas all over again, yet cannot seem to distinguish her thoughts with Lily's.
Characters:
Eden: Eden has gotten a little more emotional as she progresses into a world of confusion, yet she still is that head headed girl she always was.
Jonas: A little mysterious, alluring, yet annoying.
Apollon: My favorite blond headed friend.
Writing:
The author has brought back her poetic style. While lacking a little in book 2, Wrath has given us a beautiful masterpiece with Eden, book 3. Descriptions, story, dialogue, it is all abundant from cover to cover. Honestly, her writing is probably my favorite from all other authors. Is so unique and strong.
"The first part is the hardest," I tell her, rambling on. I don't know if that's a lie. I'm certainly not finding it easy after all this time. And her experience was different from mine, wasn't it? I was scrambling for my life. So no. Maybe the first part isn't the hardest. Still it's a good lie, and I'm sticking with it."
"Pounding, slamming, punching, fingers crunching. tangle arms and lungs and nothing working can't move can't breath- "Eden! Eden!" Jonas' voice explodes in my ear. "Goddammit stop this thing right now!" Panting- mine, his. A soft breath of voice. "It's OK. It's OK.""
"I risk a glance at him, hating that I'm already melting, with so little effort from him to make things right between us. He doesn't even give me an explanation. Not even a promise of an explanation."
Kate Wrath also possesses this kind of humor that makes you laugh, cry and jump. Eden is so much things, and the author encompasses all the good and stubborn qualities a righteous person can claim all in a beautifully wrapped package.
Dislikes:
-Eden cried a bit too much. -Jonas frustrated me to no end. Why keep so much secrets? Is it to protect him, or Eden? -The story does not go to far in explaining thing. We get to understand so much more, yet left with more questions. The story goes by really slow, slower than it should, yet, even saying that, Wrath makes up the slowness and clarifies more about Eden while we wait for the action to arrive.
Others:
-I loved Wrath's dedication page and acknowledgements. It was really different. And I can tell it meant a lot. -The little preview for Jason and Lily, the prequel to E, was just too much. It is making me so anxious for the release date. And the little warning Wrath wrote made me laugh so loud at 3 AM in the morning.
I really hope others could pick up this amazing series. It is all well written and so very very lovable.
This book was truly fun to write. I got to delve deeper into the relationships between characters, and then, there were some new characters to play with. With Eden and Jonas returning home, there was a lot of drama and background and mystery to bring out. And yeah, a new setting! I really loved writing dystopian Miami and all of its cultural intricacies.
I hope this is another one that my fans will love. If I can predict that based on the amount of enjoyment I got out of writing it, then I would say this one will be a definite winner. :)
I actually was incredibly lucky to get to beta-read this book and I'm so glad I did because honestly, the waiting was driving me nuts.
The world of E gets deeper, richer and more complex with every book Kate Wrath writes and Eden is no exception. In Eden we get to see a new side to the world she has created, a million miles away from where we started at Outpost Three.
We get answers to a lot of the old questions, and given a whole bunch more to ponder over. And whilst that drives me nuts because I know I have to wait for the next book, it's also the sign of a brilliant series.
I love these characters (though if I'm honest Jonas/Jason kind of irritates me. Team Apollon all the way!!), and the way Kate Wrath writes.
Now I just want to get my hands on the next book already.
Eden’s back in this third installment of Kate Wrath’s series. Now that she and Jonas have found their past, they have to struggle to convince their tribe that they’re Jason and Lily – the previous versions of themselves. Which includes pretending to be in love, and also being willing participants in a revolution that aims to take down the Sentries, destroy the walls of the Outposts, and free not only themselves and their friends back in Outpost Three, but everybody. The charade is easier for Jonas than Eden, though, and while Jonas seems to be able to blend in fine, Eden’s not so sure she wants to be Lily, and she’s also not sure if her actions and emotions are her own, or Lily’s ghost.
And there’s a weird microchip in her head that a bunch of people want to take out. Which involves brain surgery. Yeah, I wouldn’t be too comfortable there, either.
Here’s what I loved: the theme of the identity is tackled head on as Eden struggles to decide whether she wants to go back to being Lily – which also involves following the clues Lily left behind – or whether she wants to remain Eden. She also has to fight to determine whether every move she makes and every thought she has is hers (Eden’s) or Lily’s. As I read, the cracks in her mentality are obvious and painful, and the physical toll was heartbreaking. As everybody – including Jonas, at some points – tries to pull her in one direction, she tugs in another, while also trying to figure out who in the tribe she can trust, and who’s only manipulating her for their own purposes.
The language in many parts of this book were also incredibly strong. Within the ‘slow’ moments of the book (‘slow’ being defined as Eden being alone and really, really diving into her thoughts) were scattered sentences and paragraphs that were rhythmic and poetic and just plain beautiful, a trait I’d noticed in the first book, E (read my review here). The effect was absolutely gorgeous, and really did a wonderful job in making me feel Eden’s pain – this trait coupled with the previously mentioned theme of finding identity were by far glorious and my favorite parts of the book.
What I didn’t like: the beginning was a bit slow for me, despite the whirlwind of events as Eden and Jonas are re-introduced to their lives within this outpost in Florida. As a contrast, the end of the book was fast. And I mean: too many things happening within the last thirty pages. It’s not that it was confusing, it’s that it introduced so many wonderful details and answers that what I wanted most was to spend more time there and really allow the new discoveries about Eden’s life and who she was pre-erasure to be introduced more naturally, since they carried such amazing weight.
So overall, I think there were some missed opportunities within the plot, which is why I’m ultimately taking a star off. Personally, however, the internal journey that Eden was taken on as well as the external exploration of relationships between Jonas, Eden, Apollon, and a whole slew of new characters was so fantastic, that ultimately I can say that I really enjoyed this addition to the series.
Will there be another book to continue this journey and provide more answers? I hope so. But then, I’m a bit of a fan (and I have been since I read Wrath’s first book). However, I can also say that EDEN definitely ends in a perfect spot to conclude the journey, giving the reader enough to imagine the next steps the characters are going to have to take to rebuild.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Well, I have to say it! Kate Wrath has done it again. She has taken is deeper into Eden's world and completely transformed the story, taking in unexpected and amazing directions.
THE THIRD BOOK IN THE E SERIES
Both friends and enemies are desperate to get their hands on the information inside Eden’s head—information that could take down the Sentries and therefore change the world.
But Eden isn't sure she wants anyone to access that information.
Eden is determined to discover Lily’s secrets. With hope refusing to die, she’s spurred forward by memories of Oscar and thoughts of finding him again.
But Lily’s hold on her is greater than she realized, compelling her to chase after strange clues and confusing visions. With love and longing weighing on her, Eden must determine the reality of her fractured identity in order to decide which path to take. The choices she makes could tear her away from Jonas and Apollon, and away from everything she’s ever known.
But it just might note be up to Eden as fate has a way of interfering with the best laid plans.
I thought I had this book figured out, but as usual Kate Wrath has written in twists and turns that add an entirely new dimension to the story.
I am thrilled that she has written JASON AND LILY - A Prequel to the E Series and can't wait to get my hands on it.
Also, coming soon is Book 4 in the series and I will be eagerly awaiting it's publication.
I rate EDEN as 5 out of 5 stars.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

So...excuse my language, but..holy shit. I promised myself that I would make this book last at least 3 days if not a week. It lasted all of 4-5 hours. >_> Whoops! Now I have to wait until book 4! UGH, WHY, NOOOO. Lol, at least the prequel is set to be released next month so I will not be completely without the world of Eden. So I hope I'm not the only one that wanted to strangle Jonas/Jason pretty muuuuuch the entire book. Typical man behavior was driving me mad, haha! Kate, you write that way to well, I felt like you must have spoken to my boyfriend on how to not read my cues and hear what I'm saying! I also could not help but think about Matt a lot during this book. With Eden/Lily feeling so lost and Jonas/Jason being a butthead, I feel like she needed the support that only Matt could give her. I mean, she does have Apollon, but it's not the same. Plus, he's off galavanting with the new girl so he's being kept busy, lol. I felt bad for her as well with the whole hole in the heart with Oscar gone. There's a lot of new stuff going on, and behind the scenes, that she's kind of just getting left in the dark while Jonas/Jason is doing things and having meetings. It seems...lonely. The end of this book threw me for a loop! Which is why I cannot wait to see what happens next. Oh man, I smell drama ahead. I also want to know very badly WHAT WAS WRITTEN IN THAT JOURNAL?! UGH. Killing me! This series continues to pull 5 stars from me. Please do yourself a favor, and pick up this series.
I would like to thank the author, Kate Wrath, for giving me an electronic copy of Eden to review. The plot twists kept me entertained from the beginning to the explosive conclusion. Combining some old favorite characters with some new ones, the author has seamlessly woven them all into a complete world. There are many strong characters with mental and physical toughness, leading to conflicts between them that range from just plain silly to downright scary. With the new additions, the possible plot lines in the future are endless. Although the story of Jason and Lily is central to the book, it does not lessen the importance of the other, intersecting plot lines. Although some questions were answered, many new ones have taken their place. If you are new to this series, I strongly recommend reading the books from the beginning. Seeing Eden's struggles from the start of book 1, it helps to comprehend all that she has endured. I have enjoyed reading this book and cannot wait to read more by Kate Wrath in the future.
Slight spoilers. Thank you Kate for the free copy of this book, very much appreciated! Just as you think you are beginning to understand everything and make sense of the past, you realise that you know even less than before. Nothing is as it seems! I went from being in love with all of the characters to wondering if Jonas is really the good guy after all. I could tell from the beginning that there were a lot of secrets and I think Jonas knows a lot more than he's letting on (especially with all those secret meetings!) I thought this would be the book to bring Oscar back, but I was wrong. I was really hopeful towards the end when Eden goes to find her brother as I thought maybe he is Oscar!... but no. I love how it ended with Apollon saying she's his best friend and he wants to stay with her, possible romance? I sure hope so. BRING ON THE NEXT BOOK!
Once again I was embroiled in this story - book three giving more insight into Eden's past, present and future. I loved it!
Kate Wrath is a storyteller of the highest degree and this installment is beautifully poetic in the way Eden's emotional ride is portrayed.
Battles are fought in this hard future yet it is within Eden's heart that they are most fierce.
I don't give spoilers, so it is difficult to say too much, however, I will say that I didn't want it to end and am looking forward to book four...already pre-ordered.
An excellent read, filled with mystery, suspense, charged emotions, friendship, love, grief, joy and puzzlement - highly recommended.
OMG! Kate Wrath is one of my favourite authors. Let me just say I did not see any of this coming. I honestly cried "what you have to be kidding me. NO! NO! NO!!!!" that is my emotions at the end of book three. Kate Wrath has created the best post apocalyptic world Ive read this year.
Probably my least favourite book of the series but it did fill some useful gaps. I omitted to buy it the first time I read the series but decided to purchase it as I reread the others. I'm not sure why I didn't like it as much - possibly because there were just so many questions which seemed to take a very long time to answer. But on the whole, still a worthwhile read.
As usual, Kate Wrath kept me intrigued. Not just the twists and turns of the plot, the mystery, the emotions, but the thought-provoking ideas. I love your comments on the cockroaches (and many others, but I don't want to spoil it for others). You will have to look for them yourself. This series isn't just a bit of fluff, it has meat in it. Great characters. Keeps you guessing. My favorite author. You never disappoint. Looking forward to "Jason and Lily" next month!
I give this book 3.5ish stars because I enjoyed most of the book, but towards the end I started to find the plot more tiring. If/when there's another book I don't think I would read it. The book might not have concluded the character's adventures, but for me it was the end.
So I didn't like this one as much as the others. The world is still amazing, and there's a lot of stuff going on, but I feel like the characters haven't developed at all. Eden is now just slightly less scared of things but twice as confused. It felt like ninety percent of the drama in the book between characters could have been solved within two conversations. I know that wouldn't be very exciting to read, but it just dragged. As Eden and Jonas were basically the source of all drama in this one I really just wanted them to get their kit together so we could move on. The lack of communication made it stagnant, and while not against their character, it just felt like they should have evolved a little bit by this point. I will still keep reading though because it was still enjoyable, just not 5 star awesome like the others.
The author does a fabulous job at making us feel as twisted and lost as Eden throughout this book, and as desperate to find the answers she’s seeking as she is. Apollon and Eden’s friendship remains the most fascinating relationship to me even with the introduction of so many more characters during this book. The emotions are hard to shake from this one, but I’m looking forward to reading the prequel next.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I enjoyed this book but didn't like it as much as the first two in the series. Just seemed to be awfully bogged down with Edens emotional baggage and not much really happened. Hope the next book is better.
Thank god this was better than the second book. I guess I just really like Wrath's writing when it comes to city stuff and much less when it comes to the whole road trip stuff.
I've been reading this book off and on all day. It was as unputdownable as the first two. However, suspense aside, not much happened in this book. There are some answers to long-asked questions, and I do appreciate that. Eden's friendship with one character and her longing for another character continues. New characters are introduced, including a bisexual one. I could have done without that development. I wasn't impressed with the subconscious clues that were leading Eden to find out more about her past. At the end of the book, I'm still not sure how the clues were connected or how they were relevant. The twist at the end was the best part, especially the cryptic last paragraph.
As for recommending to teens, I wouldn't recommend this one. The bad language continues to increase in frequency, and the sexual references increase, too, though descriptions aren't terribly graphic.
I will, however, buy the next book. I've become attached to Eden and Jonas and want to finish their story. I recommend book three, Eden, to anyone who enjoyed the first two books because it brings some closure, even though it ends with a cliffhanger too.
I liked this book, just not as much as its two predecessors (or as much as JASON AND LILLY, the prequel/4th book in the series, which I'm almost finished with). The characters were still a lot of fun, and the story did seem to move forward, but I was not getting as clear a picture of this world as I'd like. I suppose it's possible that it was just me, that maybe I was missing something. But still....for me, things just not drawn as clearly. And by the end, I was getting a little confused by the new location and all the new characters. I didn't have a clear sense of who they were. (Now that I've almost finished J&L, I understand why that might have been the case...but I won't say more right now about that...)
All that said, I still raced through the book, and still enjoyed it a whole bunch, and after finishing it, I immediately downloaded the fourth book (and will grab the fifth when I finish the prequel).
I'm still intrigued by the world and the characters, and I recommend the series (and thus, this book) to anyone enjoying YA dystopian fiction.
It'll take your breath away! This one leaves me speechless. The story is so action packed, yet so heartbreaking! I sincerely hope there is a Book 4 in the works! So much of the story is as yet untold. I can relate to Lily / Eden in so many ways. Please write another, Kate!
This book had so many twists and turns that you cannot help but want more! I can hardly contain my excitement, I hope I do not have to wait long to find out where my friends lives are going to go! I need to know who they ate and who they are going to be! Great read!
These books have been hard slog, but I still read them. What does that say? There's something here, it isn't at all hopeful, and sometimes both Lily/Eden & Jason/Jonas annoy the heck outta me. But I keep reading. Why?
You can't help but to root for the heroine, although, I sternly suggest you read the prequel last. There is great adventure, and I am still asking what the fore father's vision was and where are these people now.
Can't put it down. There is always excitement and mystery to follow. Whether it's the characters relationship or their search for their past, you're going to be reading non stop.
For a great review read Tamara's 5 star review. She nails it on the head. Coming into this series with it all published- read this book before reading the Jason and Lily one- it will be worth waiting on it.
Worst book of the them all. 3 weeks of my life I will never get back. If you thought the love interest of on again off again was boring it don't get any better.
