I got a signed copy of this book from Mr. Carpenter himself when I visited a comic con earlier this year.
This is a very diverse collection of horror and Mr. Carpenter certainly has a unique style that results in a fast read, that's how I like my short fiction. Each story has a clever twist ending and "The Confession" is probably the most disturbing of the collection.
If you're looking for a different kind of storytelling experience, get this book.
Step into darkness in this collection of horrific tale that should maybe be read with the lights on. This is the first book I have read from this author and I think readers of horror are going to enjoy the demented tales. I found the stories well written and look forward to seeing what types of novels this author may have written.
The book Is A good piece of work, infact I know The author, his stories are what I would consider very well written, well plotted, well put together, I'd recommend it to anyone!
A great collection of short horror stories. Each unique and enthralling. Some were very unnerving and unusual. There is a range here, that will appeal to a number of horror readers. Some of these tales were downright brutal! I don't want to review each and every one as I want the reader to be as shocked and disturbed as I was. So I will pick my favourite to briefly discuss. 'Confession' was my personal favourite. An old woman making a shocking announcement on her death bed. A horrid revelation that angers and upsets the reporter taking her last words on the record. I was addicted to this story. What else was she going to confess? How was the reporter going to respond? Then the final secret was fantastic, yet horrifying. This particular story had my stomach in knots, face cringing, and blood boiling. But it ultimately left me bathed in goosebumps! Overall, a great collection. Various evils are explored through Clive's descriptive prose.
