Their framework -Consciousness of Self, Consciousness of Others, and Consciousness of Context with 19 capacities for emotionally intelligent leadership is a good start for young people wanting to lead. Unlike traditional, positional leadership models, EIL is more democratic and participatory. EIL also focuses on understanding yourself first before expanding the circle to involve others.
The focus on the self is to understand core emotions that almost always surface in any group or organizational interactions. Many of the arguments for using this framework is based on research and developmentally appropriate for young adults.

I took the online class Emotionally Intelligent Leadership for college. It was very good. This book really comes to handy not only for leadership but also for life in general!
