Amazing! Thank you Netgalley for the arc copy! I love Daniel Hurst and his writing style! His stories are fast paced and quick chapters that keep me wanting more! This one did not disappoint. The twists and turns had me on edge the entire book. The characters kept me engaged the entire time and I did not see the end coming at all. Suspenseful, engaging, and full of wow moments🤯!
Our Perfect Holiday by Daniel Hurst Full. Circle. Moment.
This man creates the most diabolical stories that leave readers hooked. I cannot explain how this book held me hostage.
When a seemingly innocent family vacation turns into a tragic trip down memory lane, Cassie fears she might just be losing it. Judd is drinking to cope, and then the mysterious texts start.
This is such a deliciously twisted thriller from page one. These characters will wrap you up and hold you still until you finish the last page. Brilliant in a way that only Daniel Hurst can deliver, this is definitely a must-read for summer.
Just be careful by the pool.

Our Perfect Holiday is an enjoyable, straightforward read that delivers a good story, even though it lacks any shock-and-awe factor. The narrative jumps back and forth between the past and the present, and the short chapters make it easy to fly through the book in one day. While the book starts off at a steady, medium pace, the momentum slows down quite a bit right around the 50% mark. It also feels sparse on character development, making it difficult to deeply connect with or invest in the cast. Furthermore, the overarching plot is pretty predictable. If you are a seasoned thriller reader, you will likely piece together where the story is headed long before the final reveal. Overall, this is a solid read. It won't blow you away with unpredictable, mind-bending twists, but it is still a nicely structured story that will keep you entertained.
Cassie has a secret from twenty years ago, when she last went on holiday with her family; now she's all grown up with a family of her own. Her parents want to go on a family holiday, and what better place than to make memories in the place they last went to twenty years ago?
Hurst gives us a thriller, told mainly from Cassie's point of view. I love how this narrative leaves us guessing and suspicious of everyone. I found myself reading and guessing through the character, as I was jumping to the same conclusions.
There are several twists in this novel, some you won't see coming, and a storyline you won't be able to put down.
“Some Secrets Haunt You Forever” Our Perfect Holiday by Daniel Hurst is a suspenseful story, causing you to ask “but who did it?”, multiple times. The book twists and turns and right when you think you know the culprit, it twists, again. Siblings, Cassie and Judd, witnessed something damning as kids and kept the secret for decades. Family obligations cause them to have to revisit the site of the crime. Cassie starts receiving taunting texts, indicating someone knows about their participation. As she races to figure out who’s doing it, numerous other entanglements are revealed. You have to know read to the very end to have all the answers. Good luck hunting!
This was a book about 2 not so perfect holidays! I suspected a couple of the twists, but it didn’t lessen my enjoyment of this story in the least! It’s a well written book about a family who travels to France on holiday and a terrible thing happens! Then 20 years later they go back! What?! It’s so good!
Daniel Hurst does it again! I love his books and there is just one or two big shocks, but multiple that get intertwined in the story line and tied up at the end. The book is fast paced, short easy to follow along chapters, and sucks you in to not want to stop till you get to the end.
