What's worse than getting bitten by a werewolf? Not taking your anti-furball pills and then getting bitten by a werewolf. Which, FYI, sucks.
Called to investigate a midnight break in, Detective Carla 'Ce' Callahan doesn't expect to come face to snout with a pissed off werewolf. And she's all outta silver bullets. But hey, she still manages to hold her own, even if she does get a bite on the ass for her trouble. Now she's in werewolf custody until the full moon while they wait for an answer to a very important question. Will she shift? Or won't she?
Doesn't really matter when she meets the hot and sexy enforcer for the pack... Looking at him, she thinks she could get used to the furry side of life. Especially when the guy has an ass like that. She wants a tiny nibble...
Riley Copeland's life sucks. The woman he loved and brought over to the lycan way of life revels in trying to get him killed and his pack alpha seems to think he's some kind of furry babysitter. He's been forced to look after a bitten newbie until she turns-or doesn't. And she's a cop, no less. Great. Just freaking great. But that ass of hers... He just wants a tiny nibble...
Of course, there's someone out there that thinks it'd be really great if she was six feet under. Now she's on the run and the chase is on. Ce may get away, but Riley is gonna catch her... and her heart.

Okay, this was an insta love, which I knew from the page count. I liked the first two in the series. Despite being insta love, the story dealt with it in a believable way. This story did not. So much more could have been done, but wasn't. I didn't believe in the chemistry and for this story being about Riley, I was needing more from it than I got.
Secondly, this story is about Ce, a cop. She acted more like an impulsive teenager than a career cop in long line of cops. Immature and hyperactive is best to describe her. She fell flat on the image and how these two people got together was a bit unbelievable once you got to know her.
Read the first two books. They both worked out for such short stories. Leave this one alone.
I really enjoyed this book. Very short story. This is about Riley Copeland and Dectective Carla 'CE' Callahan. Carla was investigation a midnight break in and ends up facing off with a pissed off werewolf. She ends up with a scratch from the werewolf. Now she doesn't know if she will turn at the next full moon. Its up to Riley, the pack's enforcer, to babysit her to make sure she is safe, etc. Riley is dealing with his own problems, mainly, his ex wife , who is trying to have him killed off. Between the two of them, Carla and Riley, it makes a very interesting mix of a story. recommend.
Amazing. This didn't even read like a novella because the plot was detailed, thorough, well-paced, and complete. There were no quick meetings followed immediately by a romp in the sack. First we met the hero, then we met the heroine, then they met each other, and a battle of wills took a short while before the romp. But what I loved most is our couple had common interests. You could see why they would appreciate and respect each other, which leads to real love.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading Clara & Riley's story very much. I love reading a happy ever after story it makes me happy after a very hard day. Thank you for writing this story.
Suffering a broken heart Riley was not interested in a mate. Neither was Ce (short for Clara). She was a tough, no nonsense cop until she was attacked by a werewolf.
I really liked these two! Both tough as nails, determined, and protective. The attraction, immediate. The clashes, leading. The heat, undeniable. By the time they realize they have fallen for each other, they are already there <3
The best book in the series. The others are more fun and light hearted (which is fine), but the book has a more serious tone and more emotional depth. And I totally loved it (and cried:)
Clara "Ce" Callahan is a tough cop working the beat. Not only is she and her partner, Tom, dealing with human criminals they have to respond to calls involving the "supernatural beings". An alarm to a local restaurant puts Ce on a path she never imagined. The restaurant has been broken into and trashed and the biggest wolf they have ever seen is cleaning out the kitchen. Unfortunately, Ce and Tom are not packing "wolf" ammunition and Ce is scratched in the take down. Due to pack law, Ce has to remain with the local pack until the first full moon to see if she is infected and will turn. In steps Riley, the pack enforcer. He is 6 feet of hot mess and Ce can't help but ogle her babysitter. As danger pops up, Riley and Ce realize they are drawn to each other in ways that make no sense...wolf vs human. What has Ce gotten herself into this time?
I love a good love story with strong female lead. Ce isn't your typically woman who needs a man to save her. She is usually the one doing the saving. But a chance encounter with a crazed werewolf pushes Ce's to her limits. She has to wait out the next full moon with the incredible sexy Riley and he is not bashful about being naked! The story makes for a quick read (one day) which was disappointing. I would have liked to see the relationship progress a little slower but werewolf stories tend to move fast with the mate thing and all. I would like to see a fourth installment delving into Ce's change. That will be interesting!
Riley Copeland-The Alpha Enforcer for the Stratton Werewolf Pack-has absolutely no interest in finding another mate since the bond he had with his x-wife Jenna was permanently severed. These days enforcing the peace and working out in his gym occupy his time. Clara Callahan nickname Ce is a cop and definitely someone you don't want to mess with. While on duty Ce has the misfortune of being bitten by a rogue werewolf, who she manages to kill; on the day she forgot to take her anti-furry pills. Not knowing if the newly bitten human will change to wolf, and the brother of the wolf Ce killed is out to murder her -she is brought to the Stratton Werewolf Pack for protection. Max, Alpha of the Stratton Pack-puts Riley in charge of helping her go through the transformation to wolf. DOES DESTINY FIND THE HEART OF THE ENFORCER???
Mina's quality and smoothness of her writing is superb. She manages to mix sentiment, humor, seduction, life threatening incidents into a captivating story. The use of vivid descriptions lure the reader into the story and keep your interest till the end. Her characters have unique personalities and are engaging in all aspects.
I highly recommend this book as it is a great and memorable read.
Of the three Stratton Wolves books out now, this one was my favorite. I'm a sucker for a strong female cop character, and Ce is definitely that. Riley isn't too bad himself, especially after I realized he is Kelli's little brother, and was in both the first and second books. He's the closest thing the pack has to a police officer and soldier that the pack has, so I think these two do-gooders will go far together. And Riley definitely deserves his HEA after what has happened to him in the past. The only mistakes I found in this book, compared to the few in the first, were issues with the British slang compared to American. But that almost always happens when an author has the location of their story somewhere they've never lived, unless they have someone from that area letting them know the differences. Again, these mislocated slang words do not take anything from the amazing story. If you're a werewolf fan that doesn't mind some steam or a fan of Ms Carter's, I recommend you jump in to this series, or even just this book since it can easily be read as a stand alone.
Ce is a cop who gets bitten by a werewolf on the job, she's then farmed off to Riley, the local pack enforcer, to watch her until she changes. I like Ce, she was smart, feisty and very capable of standing up for herself. Riley was a tough guy and could be a bit of an ass, but I liked that he had a more vulnerable side as well.
I didn't quite get why it was classified as a BBW story, I think Ce thought once that Riley wouldn't be interested as she wasn't attractive enough for him and was too 'curvy' – but tbh I wouldn't have associated that with bbw and she's also referred to as tiny in other comments so it didn't make much sense. Also, I appreciate it was a short story, but personally I prefer a little more relationship development. I liked the chemistry between them and there were some fun hot and steamy scenes, but the deeper elements seemed to kind of 'insta resolve' towards the end.
Overall it was an enjoyable read and I liked the characters. Good for a quick coffee-break read but would have liked something a little deeper.
Mina Carter writes amazing books! This one is no exception. The story flowed so well that I could not put it down until it was over. The characters were well developed, the story itself was outstanding, the chemistry between Riley and Ce was amazing and hot. I thought that Ce was a really complete character with lots of self confidence and bravery, but still not cocky, which can be a difficult balance to achieve. Riley did not get soft as she got stronger. The story line stayed interesting right to the end, heck, I could have continued to read more of their story and not slept at all! Did I mention how hot the action gets in this book? It was strong even if you cut that out, but why would you when it is so perfect with it? I loved this book!
Great Series! This is a great series; this is the third book in the Stratton Wolves Series of short stories by Mina Carter. Carla is a detective and managed to come face to face with a werewolf. She manages to kill the shifter but gets bitten in the process. Of course that day is the only day she forgets to take her anti-furball pills. She is shipped of to a local shifter pack and when she meets the sexy enforcer of the pack, she can’t keep her eyes off of him. Riley is the enforcer of the pack and when he is put in charge of watching Carla he is not happy being a babysitter, that is until he realizes that they are mates. If you are looking for a great short story that can be read in one sitting, then you need to read this book and series. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
This was a nice read but it could have been really good if there would have been more time.
I did not realise this is a novella when I started it and maybe I wouldn't have picked it up if I had. This would have been a shame because it was a good read.
the first half was written like a full novel and I loved the writing and the pacing of the story but then it was a bit like a switch had been flipped and everything was rushed.
I really liked the characters and would have loved to see their relationship more devrloped. The secondary characters were lovely ... love Max and Kellie
I honestly don't know why authors cut their work short and don't realise the full potential of a story to have a novella
I am sorry this is a bit of a rant but clearly I am frustrated over that
Looking forward to all the Cubs and hoglets due to arrive within the next book or so!
It great to see how they expand their pack with the mates They acquire. Ce a human cop aware of the paranormal world, answers An alarm at a restaurant only to come face to snout with a Huge werewolf.. On the very day see forgets to take her anti furry pill that will protect her in The event she is bitten by a supernatural.. So what happens, yep. She's bitten She kills the animal but as it is falling its teeth graze her leg and puncture the skin through her jeans.. So begins Ce's adventure in the werewolf world.. Good story but why not call her CC? Or just C Just wondering
As far as stories like this go, this one was ok. But, it was over so fast I didn't even know what a hell happened. One minute they're having sex, and the next they are eternally in love...wtf?? This story needed at least 50 more pages for this to even start making sense. The start of the story was pretty interesting, and better than in the previous books. So, why was the author lazy and why hasn't she worked a little harder in developing the story and the characters? It could have been a 3/4 star read but the abrupt ending and poorly developed relationship between main characters ruined everything.
I pre-ordered the Enforcer's Heart based on the synopsis. As much as I enjoy Mina Carter's writing, I find I am frequently left feeling unfulfilled by the shortness of each story . While this is a great novella, and fairly priced. I can't say I'll pre-order or read any more of her novellas-- Every book I've read by this author has the potential for an excellent full-size book, where the reader can really get wrapped up in the characters. I hate the feeling after each one when I realize there was so much more that could have been done with the plot and characters. Great short story, but I want more.
Enforcer's Heart is Mina Carter's third book in her Stratton Wolves series. The book can be read as a stand alone but it does feature recurring characters. Every since Riley was introduced in Midsummer Heat, I have been patiently waiting for his story...and omg the book was well worth the wait. I absolutely loved the story. I also love how Mina is tying all of her shifter series together, very fascinating. Highly recommend!!!
This 3rd instalment of the series focuses on Riley, Kelli's brother who we saw got married to an absolute hitch, Jenna, in Book 1. They aren't together anymore and Riley is not looking for love. He's tasked to look after Ce, a newly made wolf. The sparks fly. N before you know you know it, they're in love. Great storytelling. Quick and easy read. The story flows well.
I'm not usually into books this short, but since I've enjoyed many others by Ms. Carter, thought I would give this one a try ... so glad I did! It's definitely short, but packed with adventure, sensuality, and strong characters you can really root for and respect. This is a shape-shifter story with an HEA and no cliff-hanger (although it could easily continue within another adventure down the road).
Mina Carter is continually bringing hotness to the next level with her wonderful Stratton Wolves Series. This is the third book in the series and her characters conversations, situations and steamy scenes continues to be Awesome Reading. I'm recommending that you check out the whole series as it is going to be a wonderful reading experience with no cliffhangers but plenty of enjoyment for the readers.
When your a tough as nails female cop it only is to be believed that as a wolf she'd end up an alpha female. Kinda bitten and not believing she will turn but has to stay with a pack to be sure. Only problem is the city pack has a brother of the wolf she killed in self-defense. Traded to the Stratton pack for her own good and under an enforcer care. But the two have chemistry between them. Well written and very entertaining story with great characters.
Mina is an excellent storyteller, and pararomance is definitely, her forte. Of course, I am an avid devourer of her books! She always (yes, always) writes to my expectations and this book is no different. Pack enforcer, born and bred alpha wolf shifter, Riley and newly turning still human Ce are the romantic force in this short and sexy action packed tale. Part of a series, but also a standalone winner. Sweet!
