Another free Kindle cookbook from Circle of Friends.
Let me use this space to say, I am not thrilled about cookbooks on the Kindle. Mainly because I can't find a way to print them out. It is hard to prop up the kindle in my cooking area and having your kindle next to fluids and heat is not the best idea.
Having said that, this is another nice little recipe collection as good as the meat loaf one and much better than the slow cooker collection from the same dudes. The problem is I will probably not make any of them. Not because I don't like dips. I love dips...too much. Spreads and dips are party food and my wife and I just aren't party people. So making a dip and binging on it for a day tends to wreck the diet. Nonetheless these recipes are easy and imaginative . My wife may talk me into making the Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake spread. The ingredients are already on the grocery list, I suspect. As for me, I am craving that Buffalo Chicken Dip even though I haven't made it yet. So if you are a party person you will find some delectable ideas for your next party.
And, as always, the Circle of Friends cookbooks are free.
An average collection of mostly dips with a few fondues thrown in. A couple of the dips probably lend themselves better to crostini or another small bread, but they are very much dip-like in texture. Some are savory; some are sweet. My recipe box already includes most of the ones I'd be likely to use.
I liked the variety of recipes included. I love the ease of making the spreads and dips. There were a few I never heard of and a few I was surprised at the ingredients used. Another fantastic Gooseberry Patch recipes book.
No editor listed, Dips and Spreads (Gooseberry Patch, 2011)
Points off for not listing an editor's name on this little collection. The recipes themselves are basic in the extreme, and if you have a number of cookbooks, you probably have slight variations on all of them already. I'm not sure if your area of the country has these, but our public television station, during pledge week sometimes, will host a cooking marathon, complete with compiled cookbook on the going theme for a pledge; the recipes here are about the same level as the recipes in those cookbooks. Good basic stuff, but don't look for anything revelatory. **
