I unfortunately DNF'd at 30% in, and kind of had to trudge my way along to get there. Romance is a hard genre for me to get into in the first place, and while the very beginning had me intrigued, it lost its hook on me.

I really honestly could probably care less about our romance plot. I wanted more about her grandma and aunt and their magic/relationship and have that be the plot. Our MMC just kind of annoyed me. His cockiness threw me off and made me not want her to fall in love with him. Sure he's gorgeous, but why does he give a riddle in order for her to figure out his name? She doesn't even care enough in the beginning!

Our FMC also had such a hard wall up, even when it came to her very best friend, and that bothered me. Shouldn't your best friend, the one who is basically you're family, be the one person you can let your guard down with? She is immediately keeping secrets after she drinks the tea that restores her dreams while her best friend is spilling what has happened in hers. I just didn't understand that dynamic.

The pacing was also a problem for me. Our FMC first is quite skeptical about her grandmother's magic and doesn't think magic is real on one page - and then the next she's talking about how she's been immersed in it her whole life and grew up learning how to practice. That just doesn't make sense to me. There also just seemed to be a lot of jumping around and I was actually quite confused and had to go back to reread at certain points, and still didn't understand what had just happened.

All in all, I think that Nia P. has a really great foundational story going here, but there were too many plots points in one book, in a very short amount of time.

Kindred Spirits had me completely locked in! I was so excited to receive this ARC from Nia because this type of writing/story is definitely one of my favorites.

From the beginning, I loved the relationship between Florence and Miracle and the way Nia P. blended friendship, romance, family history, and magic into one story. The magical elements were probably one of my favorite parts because they didn’t feel like they were just thrown in for the sake of making the story supernatural. The spells, the herbs, the apothecary, the idea of kindred spirits… it all felt connected to something bigger.

And the Catch & Release spell?! I loved that entire concept. What starts as something meant to help restore what was lost ends up opening the door to SO much more.

Underneath all the magic, this was still a story about love, friendship, family, finding your way back to yourself, and realizing that sometimes what or who you’re searching for may be closer than you think.

Kindred Spirits was whimsical, romantic, mysterious, a little messy in the best way, and just plain FUN to read. This was easily a five-star read for me, and I already know there are pieces of this story that are going to stick with me.

It took me few hours to finish this book. That’s how much I loved it and couldn’t put it down! There are books that pull you in from the first page, and this was one of them. Watching Florence discover who she truly is and navigate a world of magic was such a fun journey. I especially loved the magic system and how naturally it unfolded throughout the story without ever feeling overwhelming.

Flo was such an easy character to root for. As an only child with a strained relationship with her parents, there were so many moments I wanted to reach through the pages and hug her. Thankfully, she had the love and support of her grandma and friends, and those relationships added so much heart to the story.

And then there’s Saint. I couldn’t wait for Flo to fall asleep because I knew it meant I’d get another one of their dream encounters. Their banter was effortless, their chemistry was undeniable, and when they finally met in real life… it was every bit as magical as I’d hoped. Their first kiss had me smiling like an idiot.

If you’re looking for a romance wrapped in magic, lovable characters, and a hero who will absolutely make you swoon, this is one to pick up.

Pulled in multiple directions, Florence has to tackle her growing career, her family, and her love life. Ridiculed for her passion for her career pursuing nail art, there is an ongoing conflict within her family. Add in that she might have just come into her newfound magic and you have a recipe for a magical adventure set in a realistic world. Every magical encounter feels like it could sweep off the pages and engulf you in imagery.

Kindred Spirits takes on very real relationships. From Florence’s relationship with her friends, to her hot and cold relationship with different family members; each relationship is calculated and serves a purpose. All the characters are well rounded, with their own set of ambitions, wants and needs. Overall, this is a story of finding yourself, trusting who you are and letting yourself be loved despite your own faults. I believe Kindred Spirits has something for everyone. You can tell that so much love and attention was put into the novel. From start to finish I absolutely adored Kindred Spirits and I can’t wait to see what Nia P. tackles next.

I got this book as an arc.

My first thought at getting to the epilogue was oh no, I wanted their story to go on and on. There's something so beautiful about this book, words can't describe it. I loved everything, I loved the friendships, I loved Flo's family, Miracle, her grandma and Josie.

I was always looking forward to her dreams with Saint, I love how patient Saint was. The writing is one of the most beautiful writing styles I've come across. At one point, I thought to myself, a movie or series would not do this book enough justice, but I'd love to see it happen.

I'm definitely going to eat up every other book Nia writes because wow.

This book will be a certified re-read for a very very long time.

Thanks to the author for this arc, I'll buy a physical copy when it's published 🫶🏾

Kindred Spirits by Nia P is a heartfelt, emotional romance about connection, healing, and the quiet magic of finding someone who really gets you. The writing is understated, the pacing is smooth and never feels rushed, and the dialogue feels natural and lived-in. The characters are well-developed and layered, and their relationship builds in a really organic, moving way. The story balances emotional depth with warm, comforting moments, making it both cathartic and easy to get lost in. The supporting cast adds more depth to the world, and themes of love, vulnerability, and second chances are handled with sincerity and care. Overall, it’s a tender story about love, healing, and rediscovery that sticks with you long after you finish it.

Let’s just start by me saying I loved this book! This was definitely a page turner and Florence has been out as a fave FMC of mine. Josie and Opal reminded me so much of my own grandmother and aunties that any scene with them felt like a hug from my ancestors. Give it up for Saint! He was such a sweetheart in this book. I hope other readers can see this man for how I did. I laughed so much. Every character had their own way of showing you their personality and the way that Nia showed so much respect to witchcraft is amazing because I saw myself nodding to certain witch aspects and it made me feel a little seen. If you’re looking for a love story that only you can dream of, preorder your copy of Kindred Spirts by Nia P, releasing on September 22!

I never thought I would love a book about Witches but baby this book right here did what it needed to be done. I truly loved reading and stepping into these characters world and learning about them and rooting for them. I felt like me and Flo have so much in common that I felt like I reading a book about me minus the powers lol. The level of spice in the book took me by a shock cause it was detailed very well. Like I was like oh they getting down getting down in this book. I love that the book didn’t feel rush a that we was able to see the growth in the FMC and u was rooting for her all along. I truly loved and enjoyed reading this book.

Kindred was very cute.

I love magical realism. The magic system was unique and sweet.

Flo was so relatable, I loved the back and forth between Flo and her best friends.

The family conflict was interesting. I liked watching Flo on her journey realizing who she is.

I LOVE when they see each other in their dreams. It’s so cute.

Meet Florence and Saint. She is trying to find out who she really is. He is her dream man. Their chemistry is pure magic, their banter is top notch. I devoured this book. It was fun and easy to read and just awesome. New author for me and I’m a fan. Stars are 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This story was so cute I didn’t know what to do with myself. It’s touches points on feeling like the black sheep of the family, dreams, magic, neglect, etc. It’s a nice slow burn with some depth!
