The chokehold Power & Punishment by T. L. Moon had on me was insane. The story got me hooked real fast I was stuck reading every chance I got.
The couple… Boy does Leo fall HARD, like there was no fall just a face plant. Leo and Mia are like nauseatingly sweet, sexy, funny, and super ballsy all at the same time. I ate up all the banter and tension from these two.
I also got some genuine enemies to lovers from this book, which I’ve notice lost come of its “umph” in books. However, I personally think this book did it justice. Yes, Leo’s like fanboying over our girl Mia- but Mia does genuinely hate his guts despite the chemistry. Until of course plot happened and hey become lovers obviously.
We love a strong FMC here! Mia is a badass. No questions asked, she gets what needs to be done, done. We also love a loyal MMC here and that’s what we get! Leo “pervy prepubescent teen” De Luca is great. Full honesty, he does some stupid stuff, but Mia sets him straight so it’s good.
Now- the plot…
Holy plot twists- I think I would’ve read this novel even without the romance aspect of it. The storyline kept moving along and it was paced out very nicely. The characters were well thought out. The story itself was more realistic in certain areas than I typically read in books, repercussions and all. I genuinely appreciate the Moon’s attention to detail.
However, I do wish we got more about the “Kill/Jail the other villain” (I’m not naming names here) in the end. Yes, one job was done, but the other was left hanging in the end- book 2 perhaps?
That’s just me being picky and curious though, P&P still ends off at a nice point. We get closure and a real ending of the “getting together” chapter of their lives. In my mind Mia and Leo are just going to “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” this “other villain” until the end.
You will laugh, you may swoon, and you’ll probably be sitting on the edge of your seat reading Power & Punishment.
I loved Power & Punishment and it deserves all 5 stars!
5/5 stars!

Okay, I’m going to be honest: I fell in love with Leo faster than Mia did. WHOOPS.
Power & Punishment was such a well-rounded romantic suspense, and I really loved how intentional the entire story felt. The mystery, mafia/underworld elements, romance, political corruption, and tension all worked together instead of feeling like separate pieces thrown into the same book. The plot felt fresh and meaningful, the pacing stayed steady, and I never felt like the story was dragging just to get from one trope to the next. And that ending? PERFECT. It wrapped things up in a way that made sense while still leaving me very ready for the next book.
The characters were another huge win for me. Everyone had clear motivations, their behavior felt consistent, and I actually cared about what happened to them. But Leo… LORD. Talk about DADDY. I fell for him faster than Mia did, and honestly, I’m not even sorry about it. Their relationship was also really easy to follow because the dynamics between the characters were explained so clearly. I always understood why people interacted the way they did, and nothing felt confusing or forced.
I also really enjoyed the setting and the way the world was built. Everything was easy to picture, and the criminal underworld and political elements fit naturally into the story. The writing was beautiful without making the story difficult to follow, and I thought the writing style carried the plot really well. It made it easy to stay immersed in what was happening and kept the whole thing moving.
Overall, this was such a fun read for me. I enjoyed the mystery, the danger, the romance, the tension, and obviously Leo. Most importantly, I loved that the tropes were actually well executed. Nothing felt like it was added just because it was trendy or because the book needed to check off a list of popular tropes. Everything blended together naturally and served the story, which made the whole book feel much more intentional.
I’m absolutely ready for the rest of this series, because after that ending, I need to know what happens next.

Spice rating: 🌶️🌶️
Strong FMC and morally grey MMC who will burn down the world for her
“I know you’ll try to do everything on your own because that’s what you’re used to, and I’ll continue to overstep because I have no self-control when it comes to you.”🤭
Official ARC reviewer
Thank you, T. L. Moon
Last month I came across a reel with the blurb of Power & Punishment.
As a big Mafia Romance fan , I was instantly intrigued, especially since this was the first time I encountered a plot intertwining a politician and a detective. Without a second thought, I signed up for the ARC, and to my delight, I received it in the mail and let me tell you, I devoured it in 7 days.
Loved the FMC Mia Russo was strong, determined, not the usual damsel in distress kind of character. What I particularly liked was how the author portrayed her vulnerable side, revealing her deep seated fears of losing those she loves this complexity made Mia a relatable character with layers who resonates with readers on a personal level
Our MMC Leo de Luca was down bad for her 😌 🫢 the way he was in denial that he wasn't was cute. MMC was also determined towards his mission. (just had to remind himself to not lose sight in FMC's presence🤭)
If you ask me how bad
"Every breath, heartbeat, and step feels meaningless without her beside me."
Also loved their banter (Dante and Leo's banter too 😂)
The chemistry was palpable between the main characters
the plot twist was surprising, didn't expect that.
Loved how the plot was written. the way it was revealed in the grand scheme of things in a way that kept me on the edge of my seat
felt sad for Victor and Alice would love to see Alice get her hea too
Since this is the 1st book in the series and there is more to know about this world and characters
Couldn't wait for the next book in the series I have my hunch on the next couple so fingers crossed

This mafia romance had me completely sucked in! The FMC, Mia, is a detective who finds the body of one of her brothers, which immediately pulled me into the crime investigation side of the story. I love anything crime related, so the mystery, crime families, revenge, and uncovering what was really happening kept me invested from the beginning. I even stayed up almost three hours past my bedtime because I just wanted to keep reading, which says a lot about how invested I was.
Leo is protective, possessive, and completely obsessed with Mia, but I really enjoyed seeing their relationship develop beyond that. They both have traumatic experiences that create a deeper understanding between them, and I loved watching them slowly become more vulnerable and open with each other. And the banter?! 😂 I loved their silly, goofy flirting, especially when Leo was literally bleeding out after being shot and was still more concerned about whether Mia would let him kiss her. Like sir, YOU ARE DYING. 😂
The pacing was pretty fast, but it worked for this story because there was always something happening. There was action, people getting knocked out, asses getting beat, plans being completely checkmated, and plenty of moments that had me needing to know what would happen next. The ending wasn’t necessarily unhappy, but it definitely left the rest of the story unresolved and had me immediately thinking about book two. I really enjoyed this one and I’m definitely ready to see how serious things get in the next book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It kept me engaged from start to finish! This is a fantastic mafia romance, and I particularly appreciated the dynamic between the love interests.
Even though mafia romances are not my usual go-to book, I do love me a very well-done mafia romance story that is just so gripping. So I say that I do recommend this book. I found the writing to be so great, it made the story so fast-paced. I nearly read this book in one sitting.
Mia is absolutely just so badass. I freaking love her. She is so independent and gets things done. She sets her priorities straight and works to get what she wants. And Leo, what a man I tell you!! Such an incredible MMC and I love that the FMC is also not afraid to put him in his place and fix him straight. And he also takes advice and tries his best to be better for the FMC. Their chemistry together is also undeniable 🤭 Leo is so protective of her and just so perfectly possessive too 😩
I loved the plot. We follow our FMC who is trying to find her brother’s killer. There were lots of plot twists and so many turning points. I can tell that this story was thought out so well. So much was just happening, so I was just constantly gripped back into this world and the story.
The ending was pretty sweet too, even though there are some questions that are left unanswered at the end, which I believe is to build up to book 2. I’m curious to see how everything moves forward as the series progresses, along with Leo and Mia’s relationship.

I love it when I start a book, and I’m dropped right into the action. I’m also a huge fan of shows like “Criminal Minds” and “CSI”, but also a sucker for true crime documentaries.
Mia is such a kick-ass female, but you know from just a few pages that her ideas will get her into some deep water. Leo is cunning and charming, with a splash of a-hole energy that is mandatory for all morally grey characters. Even the side characters were interesting, like her brother Dante and detective partner Keith.
The story was fast-paced, and I never felt like we were taking an eternity to build the tension. Speaking of tension… what chemistry between the MCs. Pass me a fan because I’m overheated. Classic enemies to lovers. Or perhaps frenemies as lovers? Either way, it’s addictive and super intriguing to consume.
I love a powerful duo, and you won’t be disappointed when all hell breaks loose. Totally worthy of a Mr. and Mrs. Smith reference. (IYKYK) One battle might be over, but the war is only beginning. Can’t wait for the next novel!
Favorite Quote:
“Why is it that being told to stay away from someone only makes them that much more tempting?”
“Fuck Boston. If I ever decide to leave it all behind, I’m going to Florida or maybe Hawaii. Which one has hotter women?”
“I’ve never met a boyfriend’s parents before. I’ve never stuck around long enough to get that far. And I most certainly have never met a stalker/blackmailer/kind-of-fuck-buddy’s parents before.”

Okay… I ATE THIS BOOK UP. 🔥 4.5 ⭐️
This was everything I want in a mafia romance—mystery, action, spice, tension, strong characters, and a plot that actually kept me guessing. There was just enough of everything without one element overpowering the story, and I was completely hooked.
I especially loved that there were so many strong characters and that I genuinely couldn't figure out who was going to come out on top until it actually happened. Everyone had their own motivations, and I was constantly questioning who I could trust. 👀
And Mia & Leo… the love-hate relationship?! SO GOOD. The push and pull between them felt believable, relatable, and incredibly enticing. Their chemistry was 🔥🔥🔥, and I was here for every bit of it.
I also loved the whole “is he really good, really bad, or somewhere deliciously in between?” aspect of Leo. Give me a morally gray mafia man and I'm listening. 😂🖤
My only reason for taking off that half star is the ending. I just felt like I needed a little more. It didn't feel like a completely wrapped-up conclusion, and I'm honestly not sure if that's because there's going to be another book—but if there is…
PLEASE. I NEED IT. 😂

One thing about me is I LOVE a good Italian mafia enemies to lovers trope, throw in some dark romance AND spice? Sold sold sold. So when I tell you I finished this book in a day because I was so invested, a girl isn’t lying.
This was my first read by author @ and I could not have been more impressed and happy with this read. Mia and Leo were the perfect enemies to lovers duo. Mia is a badass FMC who’s a cop and stubborn as all hell (which we love) but with a past that haunts her and she tried to get away from. Enter here our mafia councilmen ✨ Mr. Leo Deluca✨ ugh. I love a good morally gray man who falls first but still strong with the banter and control.
This story had me enthralled and I couldn’t put it down, in fact it’s 1:55 am and I just finished this book and immediately had to review it just to let you all know it’s a MUST read! There were so many plots and loopholes, I couldn’t stop trying to solve the murder with the characters. For all my readers who love a good murder mystery + dark romance + mafia read. This is for you!!
Releasing on September 4th! Available on KU❤️🔥

In this book, we have our main characters Mia and Leo. Simply put, there is so much more to them than the persona they present.
This book had me on my toes, following along with Mia as she tries to solve her brother's murder and never knowing what was coming next. There were times when I thought I might have figured it out but then was proven wrong.
This is a perfect mix of mafia, murder mystery and a little romance in there. The spice be spicing though.
I loved every minute with this book and I would like to say a special thank you to @author_t.l.moon for the opportunity to ARC read this book.
If you like morally grey men, mafia or murder mystery, this is a fantastic read. The romance is there but it doesn't take away from the plot of the book, it's more like an added bonus.
Make sure to check trigger warnings 🖤

4.75/5. Official Advanced Reader. Thank you T.L Moon!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I ended up finishing it in five days because I couldn’t put it down. The characters feel real and I love the interactions between the MMC and FMC.
The plotting was very clever and was a twist of the typical way you would think a mafia story would go. The story felt fast but in a way that kept you engaged without feeling the story was rushed.
Mia was such a strong character who I fell in love with. She showed how trauma and vulnerability can evolve and she was developed beautifully. Leo was also a good character and his development also felt great and real.
Honestly this was a great read and for the first book in a series that I want to read more of!

Wow. I love this book! The suspense pull, tension and emotions were on point. Dark romantic suspense is right up my alley and this met all of that. Mia and Leo were both strong characters that were made for each other. All those threats from Leo didn’t scare Mia in the least. Instead they learned more and more about each other and came out of it all with love. They both didn’t realize how smart the other was until they truly discovered each other emotionally. Ending leaves an opening for more. Wonder if they’ll continue to take down the bad guys together!! Until the next one!! Awesome. Go read it!!

I would really give this 4.5-stars. This is a DEFINITE recommend. Once the book is released, I will add more. Right now, I don't want to give anything away. Do yourself a favor and buy the book.
I received an ARC copy from the author, and boy am I glad she chose me to be one of them.
Power & Punishment had me from the beginning. The character's are well developed, and the story pulled me in from page one.
If you're looking for a thriller with a romance subplot, this is the book for you. Follow along as Leo and Mia fight their way through hard times while fighting against the odds that keep pulling them together.

This had a little slow start for me - trying to figure out what was what. I did get totally sucked in after Mia meets Leo and their chemistry is off the charts. Great banter which I love. Well developed characters and storyline. It’s a different take on the typical mafia storyline and I really enjoyed it.
🖤 Dark Romance
♥️ He falls first
💀 Touch Her & Die
♥️Obsessive/Possessive MMC
🖤 Forced proximity
♥️Hate to love

Give me a badass FMC and diving in for whatever your book has to offer. Mia was that and more. As a detective, that came with the territory, but coming from a family of made men, you can't really expect much less. Her past haunts her, and it comes back to slap her in the face, and she now has decisions to make that will change the course of her life. Leo, though, this guy will get you aggravated real quick. However, it's the persona he uses with everyone. Once you truly get to see behind those doors, you'll be done for.

I would like to thank the author for giving me a chance and letting me have an ARC.
Omg! This story had me hooked! A detective who discovers her dead brother. Meets a questionable politician. She is trying to find out who killed her brother. And things just seem to get more complicated and questionable. I love that there’s more mystery than there is tension between Leo and Emilia,
But the tension is most definitely there. The plot was so good.
I definitely enjoyed reading this and definitely look forward to reading the rest of the series 🫢

ARC REVIEW: Dark romance? Mafia? Murder mystery? Suspense? AND she’s a detective?! YUP SIGN ME UP. I loveddd this book! The tension and then playful banter between these characters was so fun to read. Their chemistry and the push and pull was EVERYTHING. He was falling for her as he was her number one suspect 🥵 I also love trying to solve mysteries and was on the edge of my seat until the very last page! Was such a good story, I stayed up until 1:30am last night to finish this book 🫣🤗 Can’t wait to read more from this author! Thank you for letting me be apart of the arc team 🖤✨

This book had me at dark romantic suspense with Mafia ties 😉 After meeting the author at a local book event, I hopped at the chance to ARC read this for her. I’m so glad I did…it definitely did not disappoint. Pacing was on point and plot was well developed. I had a hard time putting the book down at times. The push and pull between the two main characters left me wanting more and more. Not to mention their witty banter which made me laugh out loud at times. Then that ending kept me right on the edge of my seat. Definitely looking forward to reading more in this series.

Power & Punishment pulled me in quickly with its mix of suspense, danger, and romance. I really enjoyed Mia as a strong, determined heroine, and the tension between her and Leo kept me invested throughout the story. Their enemies-to-lovers dynamic and forced proximity created plenty of chemistry, while the mystery surrounding her brother’s murder kept the plot moving.
If you enjoy morally gray characters, mafia intrigue, suspense, and romance with plenty of tension, this is definitely worth the read. I’m looking forward to seeing where the series goes next!

A sweet combination of mystery, intrigue, and lust, Power and Punishment had me invested from the very first page. Emilia and Leo are such a hot combo, keeping me on my toes to see what either one of them would do next.
This book flowed smoother than Leo's charm, the story itself reminding me of one of my favorite crime shows! I would highly recommend this mafia romance to any that like their romance hot and their mind racing from twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Such a great read! I can't wait to dive into what T.L. Moon does next!!

I have read this book early. Thanks to the author. I loved the FMC. What a strong badass woman. O and Leo, I kind of liked him to. The chemistry between them is awesome through the book. The plot of the book was actually a good one and kept me reading. Who killed her brother. If you like your Maffia Romance, tension and some badass characters this is a book to read. Looking forward to the next one.

Had the honor of beta reading this for the author and I was literally hooked by PAGE 2. I'm not going to say much else as no other info has been released yet, but it was amazing! I couldn't put it down. And the MMC 😘😘 OK I can't say anymore or else I'll get excited and reveal something 🤭 I'll come back and update this when the information has been released!!

This book had me hooked from the beginning and was hard to put the book down. You have a badass detective FMC who does not give up for anything and a MMC who becomes hooked. Their banter is great and I love the mystery/murder plot. Just read the book when it comes out. You will not regret it!

I really enjoyed this book! I’m so excited to see where the author takes the second book in the series. I’m already starting to make guesses about the next couple of books too—especially if the author is going in the direction I think they are! 👀 I could be completely wrong, but there are two characters in particular that I’m really excited to see more of!

Power & Punishment delivers an engaging mix of suspense, intrigue, and romance. The story pulls readers into a world where loyalty, corruption, and family ties collide, creating plenty of tension from the opening chapters. The murder investigation provides a strong driving force, while the growing connection between the characters adds emotional depth and keeps the stakes high.

I really enjoyed this one! At first I wasn’t sure about whether I loved or hated Leo he was a strange character but he won me over in the end. Mia is the definition of badass, I loved the banter and tension between Leo and Mia it was brilliant. How the whole investigation came together on the end was great but I didn’t see the whole Adrian thing. A great read!

I got to read the ARC and I was OBSESSED! I wish I could give more stars. I love good Mafia, Dark Romance book. From beginning to end, this book had my full attention. I was up late, reading on my work breaks, reading every chance I got. The FMC is badass and I couldn’t get enough of the MMC. I recommend this book.

This is the first book that I've gotten to read for T.L Moon and it was absolutely the book to suck me into her universe!
Getting to read Mia and Leo's story was such a blast. Who doesn't love a strong FMC a committed MMC with some dark romance, spicy scenes, and a bit of a murder mystery to go with it?!?!
Power & Punishment is going to be the next hot book and dark romance!

Loved the mafia romance vibe of this book. I do not usually go for this genre but this book has me rethinking this genre. Love the story line and the slow burn. Cannot wait for the next one in the series!!

I really enjoyed the banter between Leo and Mia. Leo is a high profile politician, while Mia is a detective who’s investigating a crime. She gets involved with Leo through an event. I love how the people surrounding them have a great sense of humor. The suspense is so good!
