Aubrey I was ready for a change and Boston was calling my name. My best friend, brother, and a new job, as a photographer for the New England Lobsters all rolled in one was exactly what I needed. Until my ex-boyfriend showed up to ruin it all.
So much for my fresh start. That’s where Brody Thompson steps in. Literally steps right in and up being my own knight in shining armor.
I may have sworn off professional athletes, but he caught my eye the moment I saw him hit the ice. And now, the hockey player, gorgeous enough to be a model, is my fake boyfriend.
I’m not sure my heart can take it when this ends. Especially, when I end up being the reason everything comes crashing down before I get the chance to tell him how I truly feel.
Brody Starting the season with being traded wasn’t on my bingo card but it’s a part of being a professional athlete. When I landed in Boston, I never expected the warm welcome I received, and being taken under the wing of my new team captain and his right hand man, has made the transition even easier.
A new team means my focus needs to be on the game but that all goes out the window when I see the brunette with a camera attached to her hand. I’m intrigued by her even though I shouldn’t be.
When she needed help I stepped in. The plan was to make everyone believe we were together. That was the easy part.
I knew it would all come to an end one day, ultimately breaking my heart in the process. But I never expected one wrong decision from her being the reason this little game of ours came to a crashing halt.
I really enjoyed this one! Aubrey moves to Boston for a fresh start, working as a photographer for the New England Lobsters, but things get complicated when her ex shows up and starts messing with that fresh start. Enter Brody, a gorgeous hockey player who steps in when she needs him and somehow ends up becoming her fake boyfriend.
Of course, fake dating turns into real feelings, and neither of them is prepared for just how messy things get when one bad decision threatens to blow everything up.
I really liked Aubrey and Brody together, and the hockey setting was so much fun. The fake dating, chemistry, and drama kept me invested, and I definitely found myself rooting for these two even when they were making things way harder than they needed to be 😂. A fun sports romance that gave me exactly what I was looking for!
I enjoyed Snap Shot. The chemistry between Brody and Aubrey is great and they are really awesome characters. Hockey romances are always one of my favorites, mostly because the found family trope and it’s great here. It’s the classic fake dating that slowly turn into something more! The only flaw is that it doesn’t have a lot of spice for my liking and it’s probably a bit slower. But that’s my personal taste… otherwise a very entertaining reading!
What a cute low key hockey romance! Absolutely adored Brody and how down bad he was for Aubrey! The gentle push & pull of their fake relationship was entertaining and frustrating enough to keep me reading to find out when they would just admit it!
Love the texting check ins. The Halloween party. And Lenny the Lobster. Looking forward to the next in this series!!!
Thank you Charlie Dee and Twisted Chaos PR for the opportunity to read.
*An advance reader copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.*
A great book with witty banter, a will they or won’t they vibe, found family, and centered around a hockey team set in Boston… this is my literal catnip. Aubrey Ashford, getting the job of her dream with the New England Lobsters, the hockey team her brother, Eli plays for, and in the city where her best friend, Kori also lives, is a dream come true. Hockey Player Brody Thompson is traded from Dallas to the Lobsters on the first day of summer practice. With no friends or family in his new city, Brody has a steep learning curve to start.
Brody is drawn to their team photographer, although he doesn’t even know her name. And once he runs into her in his new apartment building and is invited to dinner by her friend, Brody realizes this is his new teammate’s sister. Eli and Nash, their team captain, have taken Brody under their wing. Brody knows that means Aubrey’s basically hands off.
The attraction between Aubrey and Brody is sizzling. But Aubrey has sworn off professional athletes after her hockey player ex broke up with her long distance and now, he has also been traded to the Lobsters. The first night the team went out to celebrate, the ex tried something and Brody stepped in so that Eli didn’t lose it on the guy. Aubrey was not happy, as she felt she had it handled, but was grateful Brody made sure Eli didn’t get tangled up with her mess.
That night, a fake relationship was born between Aubrey and Brody. Though a fake relationship never works out the way both individuals think it will. It would be strange if neither of them (or both, in this case) caught feelings for one another. They were both trying to keep it low key and be respectful of Aubrey’s brother. But the longer they played at this relationship, the more it felt real. Even if neither one was willing to admit it.
I’m happy to admit that sports romance is my all-time favorite genre with hockey being my go-to sport. This book does not disappoint! There were so many side characters begging for their stories to be told (I’m looking at you – Nash, Kori and Eli). Plus, Charlie Dee made Brody the cousin of King Owens from Perfect Game (book 2 in her NY Grizzlies series). I’m low-key obsessed with King. I’m here for all the sports romances that Charlie Dee wants to tell and I can’t wait to find out who’s next!
Snap Shot is a fake dating, contemporary, sports romance featuring Aubrey Ashford and Brody Thomson.
Aubrey is thrilled when she is hired by the New England Lobsters as a photographer. She's lived and breathed hockey for years, taking photos of her older brother Eli, who just so happens to play for the same team. She gladly moves to Boston where not only is she closer to her brother, but also to her best friend Kori.
Brody is a recent trade from the Dallas Dragons. The first day he spots Aubrey, he has no idea who she is but he is captivated. When he learns that the gorgeous woman is his teammates' younger sister, he knows she is off limits. Keeping his distance is made that much harder by learning that she lives in the same building.
One day, when Aubrey's ex, Trent McDaniels, another recent trade to the New England Lobsters, is getting in Aubrey's space, Brody recognizes that if he doesn't quickly step in either Aubrey or Eli are sure to punch Trent. Brody heads over to Aubrey's site and pretends to be her boyfriend, encouraging Trent to walk away. While initially annoyed at Brody, Aubrey comes to see the benefits of having a fake boyfriend and invites him to step into the role for the season. Brody is all too willing to spend more time with Aubrey. Aubrey, while having signed a contract with her brother stating "no dating a professional athlete" after breaking up with Trent, some rules are meant to be broken.
This story starts as fake dating but leads to real feelings. It was a cute story with a hint of spice. The characters definitely have chemistry but also have the pleasure of some emotional turmoil as they struggle to keep their distance from one another. Overall it was an enjoyable read.
A fun, straightforward hockey romance with fake dating, forbidden vibes, mutual attraction, and a friendship that slowly turns into something more.
I really enjoyed Aubrey and Brody together. The attraction was there from the beginning, but neither of them was quite willing to act on it, which gave their relationship some great tension. I especially liked that they seemed to genuinely like each other as people first, so when the fake dating started turning into something real, it actually felt natural.
The whole off-limits situation worked without becoming overly dramatic, and I was very grateful we didn’t get the predictable teammate/brother blow-up. Aubrey also has her own successful career, which was a nice touch.
The later drama actually caught me by surprise, and I’ll admit Brody had me frustrated for a while!Thankfully, it didn’t get dragged out and the resolution worked for me.
I also loved the little connection to the New York Grizzlies series. Loved seeing King and Dani!!!!!
Overall, a light, enjoyable hockey romance with good chemistry, friendship, and just a little bit of drama. And now I’m wondering about Kori, Eli and Nash… 🤔 Curious….
Thanks Charlie Dee and Twisted Chaos for the opportunity to read in advance
My first book by Charlie Dee and I’m so glad I discovered her!
Aubrey has just landed her dream job as team photographer for the New England Lobsters, her brother’s team… only to discover her cheating ex, Trent, has also been traded to the team just after she started. Enter Brody, also just traded to the team, who has had a crush on Aubrey from the moment he meets her. When he steps in and pretends to be her boyfriend to keep her ex at bay, things inevitably snowball from there! Fake dating and brother’s teammate - love!
I loved the team dynamics in this one. The friendships and team vibes were there from the start, and I’m already very intrigued by some of the other players and their relationships. Fingers crossed we get more books in this world!
Brody was such a sweetheart. I loved his shyness and the fact that he wasn’t your typical cocky hockey MMC. His green flags and cute flirting definitely won me over. The notes lists and text messages between them were also such a fun addition, and Lenny the lobster mascot provided some funny relatable moments and reminded me of my team’s mascot.
My only slight niggle was that I would have liked a little more variety in the spicy scenes.
Overall, a really fun hockey romance with great chemistry, lovable characters and plenty of team banter. I’ll definitely be reading more from Charlie Dee!
I absolutely loved Snapshot! Aubrey was such a wonderful main character. Her passion for photography really came through, and I loved following her journey throughout the story.
And then there’s Brody…..He may be a hockey player, but he is definitely not your typical hockey hero. He isn’t chasing fame and fortune — he’s a genuinely gentle, caring man, and I loved that side of him. From the moment he saw Aubrey , he was completely captivated by her, while she couldn’t seem to get him off her mind either.
Circumstances bring these two together, and what follows is a beautiful story filled with chemistry, heart and characters you can’t help but become invested in.
I won’t give too much away because this is definitely a story you should experience for yourself, but Charlie Dee has written this beautifully. The characters, storyline and romance all come together so well, making Snapshot a wonderful read.
I would definitely recommend picking this one up!
I can’t wait to see what happens next with these characters
***ARC REVIEW** What a way to start a new series! This book was so freaking cute! What better way to make your ex leave you alone than fake date his teammate?! I loved Aubrey and Brody together. They had great chemistry, and I loved watching them get to know each other and start to develop real feelings. Brody was a green flag MMC he was so caring and truly proved he wanted to get to know her. I also loved how supportive he was of her career. Aubrey was also really supportive of Brody. These two were just adorable together.
I will say, I kind of wish there was more drama with her ex but that’s my preference, because I love the drama and watching the MMC go all protective. Yes, we got some scenes like that, but I just wanted more!! Overall, I really enjoyed it and with the crumbs left, I’m so excited to see what’s next for this series!!
Thank you to Charlie for this ARC for an honest review 🫶🏻
I loved this book by her. This is her 3rd book but first in the New England Lobsters hockey team. I loved the chemistry between Brody and Aubrey. I loved how much he really cared for her and how supportive he was. I loved that she was a sports photographer and she took her job seriously. I also loved that she took pictures that meant something to her and not just photos for work. You could tell how much she loved her job. This book is perfect for going into the fall season. Even if you don’t watch hockey you can still read this book. It wasn’t hard to follow along with and very entertaining. If you like fake dating, found family, sports romance and romcom you will love this book. It does have spice. Not a lot and more towards the end of the book. It’s easy to skip over without missing out on the story
This was a fun and low angst read. Aubrey just broke up with her ex, a professional hockey player, and moved to Boston for a new job. Taking the role of photographer for her hockey team her brother plays for. Unfortunately, her ex is traded to the team along with Brody, the MMC. Both are instantly attracted to each other when they see each other at the arena and are surprised to learn they live in the same building. To keep her ex away, they fake date but those feelings turn real so fast. Brody was the best book boyfriend. He listened to Aubrey, remembering everything about her. He was loving and protective and so supportive of her work. Aubrey was caring and supportive of him as well. Their chemistry and banter was so much fun. Their friend group was hilarious. I can't wait to see what happens between Kori, Eli and Nash.
As always when I saw it was a hockey romance I immediately wanted to read this arc, the FMC Aubrey moves to Boston to be with her brother and best friend and start working as a photographer with the hockey team her brother plays for New England Lobsters. Aubrey went through a breakup with her ex Trent, her brothers new Teammate Brody ends up being her fake boyfriend and her next door neighbour 👀. As we love to see in a fake dating romance they both start falling in love with eachother but neither want to admit it, there is so much chemistry between them throughout and the book is so fun to read, I finished it in a day🫶.
Brody is probably one of the cutest MMC I’ve ever read he’s so sweet he has my heart
The fake relationship is going so well they’re both in love until a bad decision makes everything go up in smokes. Will they be able to fix it? Read it and
📚Book Review📚 📖Snap Shot 👉Charlie Dee 🗓️16th October 2026 This is my first ever book by Charlie Dee, and it was a really good easy read. I enjoyed myself, if you enjoy fake dating, sports romances, brothers team mate, this one might just be for you. This was an enjoyable quick easy read. It was fun and sweet and straight forward. I also enjoyed the team dynamics, and the found family vibes. I loved Brody and Aubrey - no doubt from the beginning of the book they had a mutual attraction. I really enjoyed the friendship that was happening with Brody, Eli and Nate. I am definitely interested to see where the rest of the series will go…….. I flew through this one, I’ll be back Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.
The book is sweet and a quick read. I never found it boring or tedious, but I did feel like it was missing a little bit of plot. At times, it felt like there was a lot of description of everyday moments and daily activities. The part where Brody was unsure about his feelings regarding Aubrey’s magazine cover felt a little rushed and, in a way, also somewhat unresolved.
What I enjoyed the most was the found family aspect—how Eli and Nash welcomed Brody into their lives.
I also really loved the relationship between Eli and Aubrey.
I would definitely like to read Kori’s book as well…
Thank you for the ACR opportunity.

This was such a wonderful story to read. A photographer, a hookey player, a team, and so much more. They met by chance, life had plans for them but of course it was not going to be easy and at some point it was not going to be real but it sure felt like it. Love the story, the characters, the place, everyrhing was good and well written. This author knows how to write stories that will get you hooked since page one. Brody and Aubrey were not loking for anything, were trying to do their job and continue on. But of course life had other plans for them. Really enjoyed reading this one, this story was wonderful.
My first read by this author and I love everything hockey romance. So this one fit all of my loves - fake dating, two sweet MCs. And some really amazing friends to support our main characters. This is a slooooow burn so prepare yourself to wait a whole bunch while these two dance around each other. But while they do, we get to know them well. And our guy Brody is the perfect cinnamon roll type all while helping out Aubrey - who also happens to be the sister of his teammate! Yes perfect formula! The writing style of this author lends to evolving her characters backstory pretty well. So by the time they really fall, you are completely rooting for these two. Settle in for a cozy read!
I enjoyed this book! Brody is the ultimate golden retriever MMC! Love that for Aubrey. I loved his nickname for her, so cute! I wish she would've had one for him in return, other than fake boyfriend. I love the bond between Aubrey and Kori! Such a great friendship! As a younger sister, I related to her bond with Eli, though I think he was just a little too clingy, it was weird to me. The spice was good, tasteful, but a little too quick for my liking. The spicy scenes almost felt rushed. Overall it was a cute story. 🌟🌟🌟.5 🌶🌶
If you want a fake dating hockey romance with some spice, friendships, and banter this is for you. I found the story very easy and fast to read. It flowed so well. Aubrey and Brody found a connection after he offers to fake date her to get her ex away from her. She vows to not date hockey players but obviously that doesn’t work well for her. Brody was smitten with her since the beginning and a green flag! 4 stars!
Being able to trust someone that has good intentions, when doing something that disrupted your routine, is difficult.
Brody had been living a quiet life and when that is disrupted because Aubrey did something good, its difficult for him to accept but he soon realises that Aubrey didn't do it with bad intentions.
This is such a wholesome story about trusting someone when you don't really know them all that well.

My Thoughts:
If you are looking for a Hockey Romance full of comedy, fake dating and found family, this is the one for you! This was a quick, easy, and enjoyable read. It was fun and not too heavy, just the way a contemporary sports romance was meant to be.
Thank you to Twisted Chaos PR and Charlie Dee for the ARC opportunity.
Well I anticipated this book and it fed me!! I have so many things i want to say. One thing that stood out to me was the way they impacted eachother in general. I dont want to give a lot away so here's some tropes! Hockey player Fake dating Workplace romance Forced proximity Teammates lil sis
Good read for a low drama, HEA. Both characters seem pretty well balanced from the get go. The only part that seemed a bit strange was the reaction of the photo. There had not been a lot of discussion about not being in the spotlight so the reaction felt a bit disjointed to me.
This is a new-to-me author, and I thoroughly enjoyed the read! Aubrey and Brody are so sweet together. I loved how attentive Brody was and how Aubrey used her photography skills to capture meaningful moments. I look forward to more from this author in the future!
