The Demon Next Door

Rate this book
As a receptionist, I never thought I'd be able to afford a house of my own.

Then I found the perfect one.

A little spooky? Maybe.

Suspiciously cheap? Definitely.

After years of saving, I wasn't about to let a few ghost stories stop me from buying my very first home.

Unfortunately, nobody mentioned the Hellgate buried beneath the property.

Or the possessive Alpha demon next door.

Azrael has spent years guarding the Hellgate. According to him, keeping me safe is part of the job.

According to me, that's a convenient excuse for a man who keeps showing up uninvited, growling at every Alpha who comes near me, and looking at me like I already belong to him.

The closer we get, the harder it becomes to ignore the heat between us.

But Alpha demons don't fall in love.

At least that's what Azrael keeps telling himself.

Too bad his actions say otherwise.

Knotted by the Demon Next Door is a spicy omegaverse paranormal romance featuring an Alpha demon, an Omega heroine, neighbors-to-lovers, forced proximity, heat cycles, knotting, a possessive hero, touch-her-and-die energy, hilarious banter, and a guaranteed HEA.

The Demon next door!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

OMG, this book was so good. First, the storyline was stellar. I loved the whole "bought a new house, moving to a new neighborhood" vibe. But I lost it as soon as she moved in and met her demon neighbor, Azrael. The things going on with the house. Lmao! When I tell you how many times I hollered while reading this book... The chemistry, the crossing of personal space (mostly by Azrael), plus the back-and-forth banter between Azrael and Lila was some of the hottest foreplay I've read in a minute. I could not wait for Azrael and Lila to do the "Knotted Rumpshaker." But Amaya threw a couple of twists in this book, y'all! I had a suspicion, but even my suspicion didn't quite hit the mark. I admit it got me in my feelings! All I'm gonna say is, you play stupid games, you get stupid prizes. If you know, you know. But that ending blew my mind! As I write this review, I'm still dumbfounded how I missed all the signs. After all the drama and shenanigans, I am so glad Azrael and Lila finally got their HEA ending.

In my humble opinion, this book is a definite must-read! The heat was 🔥🔥🔥🔥, and the spice was 🌶🌶🌶🌶. Amaya Black, gurrrrrl, you ate and left no crumbs!!

Great

This book is a rare gem, that I didn't expect it to be but its a great story. Azrael is an Alpha demon and he mission is to guard the Hellgate is the most absurdly attractive man, he's very tall, with dark curly hair that falls across his forehead. Lila Hart is a omega but she is unaware of this, all she knows she is happy to be a homeowner not realizing where her home is located. I can't emphasize how much I enjoyed this story. If you enjoy fantastic paranormal romance, a sassy female and a hot male demon, you will find this story simply amazing. This is an humorous tale of love, acceptance, and danger that had me engage from start to finish. I enjoyed these complex characters that are fantastic with a relationship that is entertaining and filled with their brand of spice. These two have a sizzling chemistry that burn up the pages. Be ready for a love story filled with a small amount of drama, spicy ik, intrigue and twists and turns. To say that I enjoyed this story is an understatement, I highly recommend this book.

What a journey

First time reading this author. Say an ad that caught my attention and I knew I need to read this book. Lila found the perfect house what she did not know was she was moving next door to the Demon Azrael who has been taking care of the hells gate beneath her property. This is an Omegaverse with a mystery around the hellgate. This book was so good I read it in one sitting. I definitely need to read more from this author.

I thought the premise of this book was really neat. Unfortunately, it didn’t feel well-edited and a lot of the grammatical errors and plot inconsistencies made it fairly frustrating to follow.

2.75 stars, rounding up

Spoilers ahead

I was so excited for this, and while it was not my favorite read, I do think other people who like a surprise pregnancy trope and want a quick win will enjoy it.

For my tastes, this was an omegaverse in name only. You could have removed that element entirely, and not a single thing would have changed about the characters or the plot. No heat, no nesting, and hardly any mentions of our MCs being an alpha and omega at all.

The story also tried to do too much with too little time. I fear I could not fully enjoy a two second bonding scene without knowing any of the rules of the world, let alone a two second showdown with the demon Azrael was guarding against for 500 years. Worse, how does a 500-plus-year-old demon not consider birth control even for a moment?

Amaya has done it again! Knotted by the Demon Next Door was a fun, spicy, fast-paced paranormal romance that had me hooked from the first chapter. The mix of humor, steam, and supernatural chaos made it such an entertaining read.

I loved the chemistry between the heroine and Azrael. His over-the-top possessive, protective nature paired perfectly with their witty banter, and watching their relationship develop amidst Hellgates and demons was a blast. The forced proximity and neighbors-to-lovers tropes were executed really well, and the story never dragged.

If you’re a fan of omegaverse romance with an Alpha who is fiercely devoted, plenty of spice, paranormal elements, and a satisfying happily-ever-after, this is definitely worth picking up. It’s a quick, engaging read that’s equal parts funny, sweet, and steamy.

Azaral and Lila. 3.5 rounded up. Plenty typos and seems like incomplete thoughts. Or the story skipped around. I’m not sure. Ethan getting a POV was odd to me. Actually his whole existence was odd. From what I could gather, he was trying to bring back his dead daughter using Lila’s unborn?! Idk. The details are fuzzy. I did enjoy the banter between the mmc and fmc. However, I felt the mmc was very nonchalant. But when he needed it. He called on the Divine. I loved that her best friends were actual angels. The story was a cool concept. My first read by author.

this was great!

This book is what made me an big fan of the omegaverse. At first didn’t get it. I thought it was only for werewolves. But now I see otherwise.
A great read!
Lila moved to what she thinks is her dream home, but it comes with so much more. Mysterious forces under her flowerbeds and a neighbor that’s just too nosy for her own good.

There are too many grammatical or spelling errors to continue (ended up getting to page 33). The pace of the book was quite fast and the world building was not complete through the point I got to (ex. It’s implied there’s omegas and the FMC mentions slick but never refers to herself as an omega). The premise was interesting, just needs alpha readers or another edit draft.

Editing

Great story but needs better editing. I didn't like that it seemed she didn't know what it meant to be mated nor did she have a heat like in most omegaverse books. The plot twist was unexpected and well concluded.

Loved this book from the Omegaverse series, Ms. Black did not disappoint. I understood the grief that the one character had in losing his daughter and that this causes a person to do the unthinkable in trying to get a loved one back.

I enjoyed the story, but trying to get through the terrible editing and awful grammar mistakes made reading difficult. I would suggest using a better editing method and maybe using a good grammar checker next time.

lots of errors

There are a lot of simple mistakes. From a half finished sentence to word with no spaces. It seems like no one proofed it. If those were fixed it would be a decent book.

Tons of spelling and grammar errors.

But the story was good and fun enough to keep me books for the short story! I liked the different perspectives and the sex was good while brief.

Good short read

I enjoy a book that has humorous moments. I laughed out loud when I read "This mother... this motherefer...this motherefer isn't human". I did have one or two complaints, but not enough to keep me from enjoying this book.

Will be recommending

I originally passed this a couple of times, but it kept showing up so I took a chance and Loved it all, medium-fast with a surprise in the plot that made me think back to previous chapters.

azrael and Lila

I enjoy riding about a good demon who has found love. Their banter was hilarious and adding Ethan stirred the pot. I would love to know more about azrael’s exile.

Okay

This is a cute little story with very little conflict. If you need a palette cleanser in between reads this is it.
